Lola

I watched an episode of Fat March the other day while I was folding laundry. I think that I definately could do it!!! And, it might even be fun (except for sleeping in a tent, UGH!). For one thing, it would be something to talk about when you were done! :)

Thanks Lora! Hope you're feeling better now.

Hello All,

I was wondering if I could join your group. I am looking for a little motivation to help me loose a good chunk of weight. I have been trying off and on for years and am finally getting very serious about it. However, I don't get much support from my family or friends as most of them are already thin and in shape. My "official" start wieght was 240 lbs. I am currently down to 228 lbs. I started the last week in june on a low calorie diet and it has been working thus far. I have also started working out more, though I lead a busy life and it is only going to get busier as school is getting ready to start and I assist with the afterschool program where I live. I could really use some motivation on those days where I am down and not wanting to work out. Hope I can join.

~cheers~

Anita

Sure you can Join anitambar and welcome. Everyone on here would be glad to try to encourage you. Let us know how we can help. It sounds like you have started on the right track.

janeau123-I couldn't make it a mile! Also it has taken me since June to lose 10lbs so I don't think you are doing to bad on your weight loss. I think the slower it comes off the better it seem to stay off. Remember you are making a lifestyle change.

Thanks humorpam for the well wishes.

Lora

I seem to be having problems keeping up with everyone lately. I hope that everyone is doing fairly well and that everyone's hanging in there. I just haven't had the time to backtrack pages and see what's up.

Sorry about that.

Does anyone else hate weighing themselves at the dr's office?? I hate that I have to leave my shoes on and it's in the middle of the damn afternoon after lunch... you know, when I'm at my fattest for the day. It makes me sad (well, for minute before I remember I'll feel better in the morning)

HI all

well I went back into the calorie thingy and I made a mistake so it has been renewed it says 1550 cal to get to 131 by October 31 2008 that sounds more like it.  But I have counted my calories today and I am only at 1400 so that is not to bad and that is with popcorn tonight and 2 tbsp of butter and hot sauce.  So I do feel better knowing I can have a bit more and hey if I go less than there you go.

Jane maybe you should check your calorie intake again if you go to low that is not good for you so we don't want you to feel deprived check it out and let me know what you think.  Your doing great.

Hey the more people the better that gives us lots of motivation so welcome to our home.

 see ya later

Hey guys...

I've been MIA... but seems like there's plenty of new people to keep everyone busy.

Okay... so I have a question for my fellow school people.  I went back to work today... and of course, since it's first week... there are TONS of sugary snacks from which to choose... all of which i dilligently ignored...

Here's the problem... by the time I got home... I had consumed 700 calories... had already worked out at the gym... and it was 7 o'clock at night.  I am really aiming for 1600-1800 a day.

It was not problem when I was home all day... wander in the kitchen and grab whatever... but trying to eat only healthy calories.. I"m having a problem eating ENOUGH during the day.  THere just isn't time... and I don't want to slam 1000 calories when I get home.

I could probably do more nuts and things like that, but the fat freaks me out.  (I try to keep my fat percentage to 20 or below....)

I'm doing great... but I don't want to start slipping into that "I have plentry of calories for one donut..." sort of thought... because one donut leads to two... leads to waffles on the weekend... leads to gaining back what I've lost.  That's actually a NEW thing I've realized about my past patterns... that when I FIRST start eating a little "junk" every now and then... and realize it doesn't hurt my weight loss... I add more and more junk... weight loss starts to suffer.. I stop recording calories... and I'm back to where I started.

so... suggestions... low fat/ non-refrigerated/ as natural as possible/ snacks with 30 percent fat or less...

ANyone seen sadaboutthis around... just wanted to see how she's faring.
#569 lorabear Aug 21 2007 04:24

What about just fresh fruit or vegetables . They do not need to be refrigerated and are quick to eat . Applesauce comes in containers that also don't need refrigerated. Almonds contain fats that are good for you. Are there nutritional needs that you are needing? Dairy? They have many milk products that do not need refrigeration, Low fat string cheese. Crackers. I don’t know what diet you are on, just offering a few healthy choices

Those are great suggestions Lora. Texas, I would suggest sunflower seeds, but they too have alot of fat, albeit healthy fat. You could take a can of black beans. That is highly nutritious, and very low in fat.

Welcome Anita - Hope that we can be of some help and motivation and inspiration for you.

Hi everyone

Well yesterday started off great until 9:00 pm last night I started having cravings for sugar and went right for a cookie and ate it  I am so mad at myself I did so good yesterday I was under my cal intake and everything.  I hate the beginning of a new start it is so hard so this morning I threw all cookies and fattening things in the garbage.  I hope that works.  I need to find something to help with my sweet tooth.

Hey Anna,

One cookie is not so bad at all! At least it wasn't 10 cookies! Don't beat yourself up for it - you just have to have moderation.

I have a sweet tooth too, but there are lots of things you can get that satisfy your need for sweet without blowing your calories. Even cookies - some cookies are much more caloric than others. Check out some of the Nabisco 100 calorie packs! I really like them, and 100 calories is often just enough to satisfy. Just remember small portions - a very small piece of cake is ok, like the Weight Watchers little cakes - they're basically just regular cake in a small size.

Another nice dessert is berries with Cool Whip - Cool Whip is only 25 or 30 cal/serving! Don't give up Anna, and don't feel that you can't have any treats. You just have to take them small and plan accordingly.
#573 lorabear Aug 21 2007 18:13

Anna you get a star for throwing away the bad stuff********Try replacing the bad with good like fruit. You are probably hooked on sugar and have sugar cravings. After awhile you will be happy with things that contain natural sugars.I see shoeofkuribo already told you about 100 cal packs. I love them!

#577 rebepi Aug 22 2007 13:11
Yay, good news (for me at least). I hit 236 today, which means that I dropped from class 2 to class 1 obese. Obese is such a terrible word...

I've dropped a total of 35 pounds since June, which is a lot.

This makes today a good day. =)

How is everyone else doing in their goals? Tamara, are you still dropping? I know you had come out of a plateau recently. Anyone else?
#578 texasteach Aug 22 2007 13:19

Congrats, reb...

I dropped a lot early this week... (I'm an every day weigh person...) so OFFICIALLY its 2.6 for the week... but I weighed a pound less yesterday... so whatever.

It's ALMOST TTOm.... so that could have something to do with it... or just regular weight fluctuations... regardless... I"m not unhappy about it or anything!

#579 sarahrip Aug 22 2007 15:18
Congrats reb abd texteach!! you are both just melting away =)

Well I went to bed last night a lil under my cal limit so I am so happy and I am looking forward to Fridays weight in. It should be a great week, hurry friday come before I mess it up! lol Have a great day everyone.
