I want to start a club for those of us who have a lot of pounds to lose.  Anyone interested?

So is anyone else having trouble getting below 200?  I seem to have this stumbling block - right now I'm at 206.  I've been down as low as 202, but I can't seem to get below 200 for love or money!  I had this happen previously on diets, and now that I've changed my lifestyle, the main difference is that now that I've reached this point (I'm sure it's a plateau, but it's weird that it's always the same spot on the scale!), I didn't just give up and gain it all back.  I've lost 35 lbs so far, and I'm thrilled with that, but I can't seem to get below 200, which is my next big goal!  I've been holding steady for about 3 months now (some of which was because of the holidays, but i'm back on track now)  Anyone else run into this?
I agree with all of you about Kimkins.  She is just basically trying to get rich quick by making her own version of a diet by blending 2 together, like none of us have ever tried doing that before?....duh..(blending 2 diets, not the rich quick thing)

I've done Atkins and South Beach blend before because I didn't feel right eating so much fat on Atkins, and of course the diet works, but it's not a long term fix.

Who can live like that for the rest of their lives?

Cut calories, you'll lose weight....it's that simple....and you don't have to pay anyone to tell you that.
Hi Jessica - Welcome to cc and congratulations on your first loss!  I have found this site to be really helpful and hopefully you will too.
I need to lose about 122 pounds. I am desperate and at times feel very lonley on another thread someone suggested this thread I need support and I need to find my motivation. I am having a hard time trying to not beat my self up. how do I go about forming connections that will help me stay on track ?
Jag-I had the same issue as you. It took about 3 weeks for that plateau to go away. I read a few articles and asked this question on other posts. What worked for me was a combination of two things: 1) Eating more calories for about 3 or 4 days. 2) Changed my work outs a little to jump start it. I increased my calories by about 300 a day not much just enough for my body to say it wasn't starving. Then I pushed myself a little harder walking, instead of just walking. I would stop and maybe do 10 jumping jacks every so often, push-ups. I would run maybe for a minute or two in between. Increased the resistance on the elliptical machine for the last 5 minutes little things like that. It seemed to kick something in, it worked. I lost like 3.5 lbs the following week. So try something like that...see how that works for you...then you should again see a steady loss of a pound or two each week...if you plateau again try it again...
mabear -

I had that same mentality for about 2 years. I recently moved and my new closet has 2 HUGE mirrors... Everyday I woke up and looked at myself and so full of shame. One morning I just decided I had had enough of that feeling. I needed to make a change. So far, so good.

I have lost 8 lbs. in the last two weeks.. I stopped eating out completely and I go for a 40 min. walk every other day or so.
Not to say it will definately work for you, but I also joined Weight Watchers.  I feel so motivated to lose weight when I weigh in every week that it keeps me going. Also, the meetings are full of great advice. If you don't feel that the meetings would be worth it - do it the cheap way. You can find a point calculator online and find the range of point you need to eat a day. I did that for a few weeks 'til I decided the meetings would be good for me. (I did lose weight the free way :) )

Hope this helps. If you want to lose the weight you will. You just need to be aware of what you're putting in your stomach :)!
Hey! I'm new to this site!  How is everybody?  Just a quick status report, I'm 302 lbs, and I've lost 6 lbs since Easter (the Bunny messed me all up!) and I've recently gotten serious about getting healthy.

My biggest help has been just getting in front of the mirror and shaking all I got to music - it creates amazing awareness of yourself and it's fun.  I spend an hour dancing a day and ... it's fun.. so it's like I'm tricking myself into exercise.  :D  (cause I didn't get this heavy by loving cardio let me tell you!)

Well, that was my two cents worth for today.   Feel free to msg me.
hi all Just checking in to let everyone know I am still on the band wagon and going strong. Still struggling with the scale but Careful what I put in my mouth. I did do weight watchers some time ago and it is a great program. I just don't have the time for the meetings. I will go see if I can dig up my books as I am sure the point system is probably close to the same. The best thing about them was I lost and never felt like I was Dieting. Oh well I am off to carrout my errands.=)
Evogirl that sounds like a fab idea!  and lots of fun too.. I think I'll have to try it.. I hate cardio too and usually avoid all gym equipment if I can.. I prefer to hit the classes my gym has.. Much easier and not so boring..

Jag-Im having some trouble getting below 200 too...... I was at 201 like a week ago and im at 203 now.... i just cant seem to push it off....
This is my first time on this thread and fairly new to this site. About a month ago I decided to change my eating and exercise mainly for health reasons. I was 278 and in the first week lost 5 then lost another 5 the next week, I was flying high! I'm now stuck, waivering between 268 and 270, going nowhere for the past 2 weeks. I go to the gym 5 days a week, cardio and weights, and have been heavily gardening or walking the other 2 days. I'm also 2 weeks late on my period (peri-menopause)and feel so awful with PMS. I tell myself I'm stuck because of the hormonal stuff but I'm feeling pretty down, especially after the elation to be dropping weight. I have a goal to get below 200 and then, once I've made that goal, anything else is gravy, no pun intended, but the gravy would be low fat, of course! Anyone have a similar experience?
Hey everyone,
so I just signed up for cc today, I just stumbled on this sight and I'm really anxious/excited/happy about it.  It's hard to find sites that will help and encourage with weight lose, let alone ones that are free (broke student over here). Anyways, browsing around the forums it seems like everyone here is really friendly and helpful, so I'm really excited to get this whole thing started.
I started making changes in my diet and excercise last week and am really hopeful that this is the changes that will finally make it stick.  I've tried weight watchers in the past and lost 30+ pounds, but gained it all back +some, so here I am.  I think the shock I got stepping on the scale helped guide me over here, I had no idea the # was that high.  I hope I'll have some good progress reports to share in the future!

Hi everyone, I am new to this site.  I weigh 380 lbs and am 5'6.  I am 42 yrs old and I know if I am going to lose weight, I have to start now.  It's going to be hard, because I love to eat.

I am a diabetic, not on insulin, but my doctor says if I don't get it under control, I soon will be.

I do need all the encouragement I can get!

Yesterday was my first day using the calorie counter, and I got a shock when I saw how many calories I had eaten!

Hi Caddogirl, Welcome...Another thing that helps to open your eyes is to keep a journal of everything (and I mean everything) you eat daily.  I have a nutrianalist that has me doing that plus I add calories and carbs for each item...

Not only does it open your eyes but it has helped to teach me portion control.  That diabetic thing is real important i was around 200 when I started cc in February...I now am around 130-140 with no medication.

Go get em girl we are all with you....
Hi everyone. i just found this site a few days ago and am very excited, ect.  I know how this works tho.. i get all excited and get a good start on a new diet plan... then a holiday or someones bdays pops up and i fall aprt for a few weeks.

I think accountabilty is a useful tool. So im just going to tell everyone here my plan of action is not to cave in for holidays or special occasions. Atleast not until I have my eating under control.i know tha sounds silly... but sometimes you need to say it or type it out loud:)

I'm currently at 258, was 263, just started a few days ago. Im looking forward to chatting and giving/getting support for everyone here.

Josette
