Hi All,
Well done to all of you on this week's successes. Nothing happening here...lol...3 exercises sessions and too many good meals=zero weight loss *sigh* I find it harder when hubby is around. When he is away on business I am more motivated and eat a lot better! I have tried to get him to join me in the exercise quest, but as of yet no luck. Would be happy with 100g this week hehe Lotsa love x |

Hello Everyone,
I am new to this website. Currently i weigh about 154 pounds and have to lose about 13 pounds to reach my target. I think my biggest problem is that I'm still at university and running around with my friends makes me bend rules all the time. I gain weight oh-so-easily on my hips and thighs! I think all u ladies seem to have a pretty good idea of how to go about this whole thing so any help would be greatly appreciated! :) |

Sarah - Good job on your eating and exercise today. Keep up the good work! Bridget - Wow! Congratulations on the 3 pound weight loss this week! You're obviously doing something right! Cailea - Hey, at least you did 3 exercise sessions. That's not bad. I would suggest that you try to plan your meals ahead, so that it won't matter if hubby is there or not, you will already have your meals planned and can stick to a healthy diet. ss2664 - I firmly believe that WHAT you eat matters just as much as HOW MUCH you eat. If you would post your typical day's food choices, perhaps we could help you. |

I've spent the last 5 days yo-yo-ing between 240 and 239. I really want to stay in the 30's. =) Oh well at least it always goes back down.
Weekend's really suck for me food wise. I had sushi on Saturday and half a turkey artichoke panini on Sunday from Panera bread. (obviously that wasn't all I ate, but was the bad stuff). New week, new week. I'll be great all week and make up for it. I'll even think about exercising. (At least consider it, haha). Man, I am so lazy. |

| Rebecca - at least you're thinking about exercising. That at least burns some calories from your brain having to work :>) Today is a new day. Start fresh, get out there and eat healthy and do that exercising you're thinking about, and you will be so pleased with yourself afterwards! | ||

Hello, I'm new to the group, and I'm just looking for a litle motivation. I started trying to loose weight on June 2, 2007, and I've lost 14 lbs so far. The first week, I dropped about 6 lbs, and it has been SLOW going since then.
I am wondering if it is just me, or if others have such a hard time loosing weight this slowly. I have been keeping a food diary (before I found this site today) and since June 2, I have only gone over the 1700 calorie mark twice. To me, it seems as if I should have lost more than 14 lbs by now!!! I exercise daily - even if it is just to walk my dog around 2 blocks (he is old, and has to be walked at least twice daily, so even if I don't want to walk him, I still have to, which is GREAT motivation for me! LOL) I've also been working out on the treadmill and/or walk/jogging with my other two dogs each day at least 5 days a week. And, I also do strength training 2-5 times a week and sit-ups/push-ups every morning (except Sundays). Surely, with this amount of effort, I should have lost more than 14 lbs by now? Maybe I am just expecting too much? |

JANE- that's not too bad. I know it seems slow, but 6 pounds the first week and then .8 pound for each of the next 10 weerks isn't bad. Hang in there. What are you eating on a typical day? |

Good Morning all Jane you have come to the right place for motivation. These people on here are fantastic. You sound like you are doing wonderful sometimes it takes longer for us to lose but you also gain muscle when working out so much as well and then hit a plat form were the wieght starts to come off, at least that is how my old trainer explained it to me. So keep up the good work you have inspired me to start regular work outs wether it be walking or swimming. Thank you have a great day. Well the barbeque at the inlaws went well I have to say though I went way over my cal limit from the beginning of the day so yesterday was a wash. Today is a new day group and I am going to be very careful as to what goes in my mouth. I am making a 2 day menu that equals to 1,350 cal and thats it. I can't believe that all I can have is 1350 cal its so little when I first went on it said 1650 cal but to lose I guess its 1350 oh well I can do it. I hope you are all successful today take care and I will check back tonite. Oh by the way is there a wiegh in date that you all are doing? let me know bye for now anna |

Hello everyone,
Today has been a pretty good day so far. I actually love working out and have no problems pushing myself. Typically my downfall is my GIGANTIC sweet tooth lol Today I ate: 4 Slices of honeydew and a fit n light dannon smoothie for breakfast. Lunch was a cup of rice, some yogurt, a chicken leg and a 5 slices of tomatoes. Lol it may sound a bit weird but its indian food and my mom makes it very low cal. :) Sarah- I'm with you! |

Hey Anna - Put yesterday behind you and start fresh like you're doing. That's great! Having a 2 day plan like that is an excellent idea. Then you won't be searching aimlessly for something to eat, and just grab something that you may regret later. SS- Can you satisy your sweet tooth with fresh fruit? If so, I really believe that's the healthiest way to go. Occassionally, it is healthy to have a little bit of dark chocolate too. It's actually very good for you in small amounts. |

"JANE- that's not too bad. I know it seems slow, but 6 pounds the first week and then .8 pound for each of the next 10 weerks isn't bad. Hang in there.
What are you eating on a typical day?"
------ Pam For breakfast, I usually eat a Larabar (the cherry pie and chocolate mint are my favorites). I can't eat ANY processed sugar, so these are a great alternative. Also, if I don't eat in the AM (which I really don't like to do) I get hypoglycemic really bad, so it is just better to force myself to eat, and the great taste of the Larabars does help :). If I don't have a Larabar, I usually have plain oatmeal with 1 tbsp honey and a dash of sea salt. For lunch, I don't usually have the same thing all the time. Sometimes it is a salad, sometimes an Amy's organic frozen entree - today I had a cheeseburger (with reduced-fat cheese, and very lean organic beef patty). Typically, during the day, if I become ravenous at work, I keep another Larabar or some raw pecans or almonds on hand to avoid the hypoglycemic reaction. Supper is probably my downfall. I usually try to eat a SMALL portion of whatever my family is having. We tend to eat out about 2-3 times a week, so it is often difficult to keep my calories below 1700 when we "splurge" like this. If I have a regular supper that I've cooked myself, and keep it in my calorie range, I often allow myself to have 1/2 cup of Jules organic ice cream (it doesn't have processed sugars! Until I found it, I hadn't eaten ice cream in years!!! :) I think it is probably the fact that I eat out so much, and that I have a sedentary job during the day that makes me loose so slowly. I try to make up for it in the evenings by working out every night, and not sitting down and watching TV (I only allow myself to watch TV on Friday nights). Logically, i guess I'm not doing too bad, but I really, really wanted to be under 200 by Christmas, and at this rate, I'm not going to make it! |

| Jane, I really do know how you feel. I wanted so badly to get to 300 by my birthday, which is September 3rd, but now it looks like it would take a miracle of unknown proportions to get there. But I'm still working at it. I've never heard of the larabar. You said that it doesn't have processed sugars. What type of sugars does it have? That may be part of your problem. | ||
| #558 | Aug 20 2007 20:56 | |
|
Pam,
Larabars don't have any added sugars at all. They are just fruits and nuts. The cherry pie flavor has only these three ingredients: "dates, almonds, unsweetened cherries". All of the ingredients are supposed to be organic, and "raw" (which means they weren't dried above a certain temperature and are supposed to retain more of their vitamin and mineral content, and be better for you). They're 190 calories each.
When I was younger, I lost weight much much faster! Now, it is so much harder! And I'm not even 40 yet! LOL I keep telling myself that if it is this hard to loose weight in my 30's, then I'd better get it off and keep it off no matter how hard it is. But, still, I'd like to see the darn scale move a little faster toward the under 200 mark!!!!! I guess we'll both just have to keep trying, right? Maybe I just need to work harder on building muscle? They say that a lb of muscle burns 50 calories a day. |

Hi Everybody. Congratulations! to you on your weight loss. Welcome to all the new people. I am so far behind on the weight loss buddy site it will take awhile to catch up. I have been sick, sick, sick. My cold (from DH) turned into ear and sinus infection so haven’t felt like typing or doing anything. I was very, very bad yesterday. I had a birthday party for my sister-in-law to go to and I ate 2 pieces of cake and two scoop of ice cream. Then I had three pieces of pizza! Has anyone been watching "Fat March" on TV? Who thinks that they can do this at our size? Good to hear your advice again Humorpam! Lora |

| Anna, Just keep trying. 1350 does seem like a small amount of calories. Are you trying to loose your weight really quickly or something? On the calorie counter for this site, it said that I should cut back to 1230, but I'm not sure I can do that. It says to loose the 80 lbs by NEXT JULY that's what I have to eat each day. Some days that would be easy for me (a couple of times I've only had 700 or 900 calories for the day) - especially in the summer months when it is so hot. But, on a daily basis, WHEW that seems hard. I set the 1700 limit for myself, because that is the amount of calories allowed for 150 lb woman, which is what I want to end up as. Perhaps that is why I am not loosing faster? Still, I think if I made myself eat 1200 every day, I'd be feeling deprived, and then I'd go off the diet. Good luck on the 1350 menu! Sometimes, when I think I may go over my 1700 goal, I get a good book, sit down on the stationary bike, and pedal away so I can burn off enough calories to meet my goal! :) Silly, huh? | ||
