140/130 club
Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's. We can all use support. Today I am focusing on all the food groups. Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30. A Super long day. I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.

whoohooo prdmommy :) congrats :)
Hello,
I am new here and just been reading all the different forums. I am at 140.8 this morning and trying to get over this hump. I started at 156.8 around this time and January. Have come to a complete halt the last two weeks or so. Any suggestions?

wow vicki!!! that's totally two lbs a week ... how did you lose so fast!? i can only seem to do an average of 1 lb a week ... i'm now jealous!! maybe your body is slowing down for a moment to get used to the idea of where you're at!
prdmommy - congrats - that's aweomse!!
kiigan, your b/f sounds super sweet! what a nice surprise! :)

v--i'm not sure when you started ("and January"???), but if it was just a couple months ago and you've lost 15 pounds, your weight loss is just gonna slow down a lot. you're prolly at a healthy BMI, so the weight just won't melt off as fast. general recommendation is to COMPLETELY change what exercise you do and increase your cals by 200-300 for a couple weeks and see what your body does. a lot of people also have success by giving themselves a "maintenance" day once a week where they eat the same # of cals they spend so that their body doesn't become too accustomed to the lower calorie amounts.
also, i'm not sure how i forgot about this, but when i got home from work today, i weighed myself for shits and giggles, and i was at 142.5!!!! a new low!!!! wooohooo!!!! *singing* i'm so excited, and i just can't hide it...
but i can't count it since it's not my weigh in time :( we'll see where i'm at tomorrow! i hope it's down again!!!

Yeah kiigan!!! That's a sign of good things to come (even if you can't count it)! :) Way to push through! I'll be crossing my fingers that the scale is kind to you again tomorrow!
thanks teenwolf!!
A local personal trainer started a fitness challenge in Jan 2007 for six weeks. We met each week for an hour. She showed us numerous exercises, learned to read labels, each week was a different subject. I changed my eating habits completely. After the challenge was over I continued with fitness classes twice a week - a circuit type workout, then joined an ab class. Currently taking a class called Butts, guts and thighs. We have nicknamed the instructor "exercise Nazi". There are only 3-4 persons in a class, so you get her full attention.
Kiigan - thanks for the maintenance tip. I am currently eating about 1200 calories a day, do a 20 minute workout (tubes and ball) also the days I don't play soccer, I do the eliptical for roughly 15-20 minutes.

hello everyone,
this is my first time posting in the boards though i have been reading them for a while. i'm 20 years old, 5'4 and 143 lbs. in the last 3 months i gained 9bs. i lived in italy from september until december and when i cam back and weighed myself i was 134 lbs which was great. i was sooo happy with myself b/c while i was there i never really felt deprived or anything. but as soon as i came back the weight started piling on and on and now i'm just depressed, i dont want to get out of bed and i can't stop eating. the thing is.. i've lost weight before and even when i was in italy part of the reason, IF not the only reason i lost weight is because i don't eat after 6pm.. which more often then not means i don't eat after lunch and sometimes lunch is at 2 or 3pm.. but this is not only difficult to maintain, it's a hassle on my social life. i mean i'm actually losing my friends b/c everytime they ask me out to go to dinner or smth i say NO. why ? b/c i cant eat that late.. and i feel like such a loser and a freak. and lately i have been eating dinner because i've been getting so hungry. but then when i eat i get upset with myself and think "i already screwed up" and eat massie amounts of unhealthy, fatty foods. and then i feel disgusting. i know that even though the 6pm rule thing is the only way i have been able to lose weight until now.. it is an unreasonable way and i have to give it up. with that said today, thursday will be my first day that i will allow myself to eat dinner and not feel guilty about it. i signed up for bikram yoga with my mom, thats the yoga in the heated room and it's for 90 minutes and i have decided to start running at least 20 minutes a day 5x a week. i calculated my calorie intake.. i would like to be at 132 by my birthday May 8th.. and according to the site i should eat 1350cals a day to achieve that goal. i'm really scared.. in my whole screwed up relationship with food mindset.. that seems like a lot of calories. is it gonna work ? if you guys have any advice, i would so appreciate it. i don't want to have such a flawed relationship with food, i feel like at times it takes over my life, just a few numbers on a scale can ruin my day and put me in a bad mood. it shouldn't be like this. Thank you guys for listening to me rant. i love this group and i hope to be a good and successful member of it.
hey coral--glad you decided to post! that being said, there are a lot of issues in your relationship with food that people on this site just aren't qualified to answer. it is good that you recognize your relationship and views of food are unhealthy, and it would merit a visit to a counselor of some sort. that would be my recommendation--do that before it becomes a much more difficult problem to remedy.
that being said, here's what i do feel qualified to tell you :) it's very unhealthy to not eat after 2 or 3 pm. you should be eating several small meals over the course of the ENTIRE day. a lot of ppl don't like to eat about 2-3 hrs before sleeping--so probably 8:00 or so. but a lot of research suggests that it doesn't really matter when you eat, just what and how much you eat.
you should ALWAYS eat dinner or something resembling it. i'm 22, 5'5" and have lost over 20 lbs since last october. and i ALWAYS eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner plus 2-3 snacks. you should not feel guilty about eating dinner--there's nothing wrong with that. the way you were able to lose weight in teh past was through severe calorie restriction, which is unhealthy and pretty much impossible to maintain. if you want to lose weight in a healthy way and keep it off, u need to focus on doing it slowly by consuming the right amount of calories. 1350 cals per day is NOT a lot, and if you exercise, you'll need to add even more to that. so add on how many cals you burn exercising to 1350, and that will tell you about how much you should eat to lose the lbs. it seems weird, but you do need to eat to lose weight, avoid plateaus, and keep it off.
personally, i exercise about an hour every day, and burn maybe 300-400 calories. i usually eat 1600-1800 calories. if you have problems eating enough, choose calorie dense but healthy foods like peanut butter and whole grains. i would suggest that you read the Calorie-Count.com Diet if you haven't already. There's a TON of information that's really helpful.
Good luck!

in other news,
I'm down to 142.5 this morning!!! Yay!!!!!! Plus, I didn't get to go to the gym this morning since I was up late last night. I actually might have to take a brief gym-hiatus because of all this work that will be keeping me up late the next couple of days :( So I'm pretty bummed about that. Oh well. I'll just have to hit it SUPER hard next week--but that'll make it difficult to hit my goal of 1750 minutes exercised in March.
also, alexagie, if you read this, WELCOME! i think i missed your entrance yesterday :) create a profile so we can get to know you a little bit and cheer you on to a healtheir you!

An especially hard night... had the worst argument with my fiance that left me feeling like i wanted to run him over. I didnt feel like eating after that but i did manage to eat a pack of ramen and some water. Weighed myself this morning and have been 148 for the past 2 days. HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY. gotta save all the calories i can because my squadron is have a po'boy sale and u know u have to support squadron functions... and its EPR time.... i probably wont eat much of it anyway.

Coral, I agree with kiigan... I think you might want to look into seeing a doctor to create a healthier relationship with food. If you talk to a doctor they can set you up with a diet plan to benefit you and your health needs!
wtg kiigan!! how exciting! who knows, maybe a little time off at the gym will keep your body wondering and keep the weight going down! :)
good job messam! way to keep the weight steady! I hope you and your fiance work everything out... fights are always good ways to mess with a good eating plan :(
super frustrating day at work today... argh... I'll be checking in here occasionally to keep my spirits up and my mind off stress eating...

messam--sorry to hear about the fight. i'm sure you'll be able to work it out, but it does mess with you :( hope you have a good time at the po-boy sale tho!

hope the day picks up for you, too :( at least tomorrow is friday, right?! hang in there and put down the snack food! unless it's a fruit or veggie, of course :)

hooray for Friday!! thanks to today, alcohol is looking better and better for Saturday... but I am going to do my very best to limit my alcohol intake this weekend!! :) hopefully tomorrow at work will be better and I won't want to waste my day Saturday drinking... we'll see!!
oh, I ended up eating my yogut and a granola bar :) as tempting as the vending machine sounds right now... I'm just not even going to think about it!!!
It is so hard to keep your healthy eating habits when you are busy! I actually stayed up a little later to cook food to take to lunch so I would get back on track! This week dinners have been tough--no time, pizza looks good, eat 3-4 slices--all within caloric intake, but a poor food choice!
I know it would be easier to get micro meals on the days I am pressed for time--but I can't stand frozen dinners/lunches! The sodium is out the roof, and I can cook fresh that tastes awesome and makes me feel full! If I am going to put it in my mouth, it had better well be worth it! I wish I had followed that advice before eating the pizza!
I know St. Paddy's day is going to be an "off" no let me correct that "way off" day for me--so I gotta behave until then!
Good luck everyone!
