140/130 club
Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's. We can all use support. Today I am focusing on all the food groups. Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30. A Super long day. I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.
welcoem prd!!! and congratulations on your success thus far! like you, i am happy to be here and i love the people, but i would be thrilled to be on my way out!
i've lost a little over 20 lbs so far, and am hitting my first plateau :( it's only been a week and a half, two weeks or so, so i'm still doing what i can to get out of it. i've changed my exercise habits (totally different cardio, switching up strength, getting back into jogging since it's nice outside) and increased my cals a bit. but the jury's still out on what my body's gonna do :)

Hi everyone,
I am also 140 lbs and hoping to drop to 130 by mid April =) I started my diet yesterday. So far I have been able to resist the temptation of eating chocolate.
I wish you all luck with your diets!

Welcome prdmommy and alexagie !!
Thanks for the help Kiigan Teenwolf.. Stretching did help - a lot! I also did exercise yesterday..You know - though I'm cribbing about the soreness, it is a good sign. Cause when I did regular ab workouts in Jan (last time I did them) I never used to feel sore and used to wonder what I'm doing wrong. This time I'm actually feeling the abs..! That's exciting..
Kiigan, I feel for you..Do let me know what works for you, when you figure it out. But your weight is moving- so that should be a positive sign..
Dee - that always feels so bad @ water gain.. At least you know its water though and it will probably come off real fast.
Teenwolf - the lower weight definitely.. That's closer to your 'empty' body weight :D..Thats what I'd do too..
Thats a good idea- to drink water with meals, Unicat.Got to do that too..1/2 lb is definitely just water or some such fluctuation..Doesnt sound bad at all :) I'd think it would be hard to really gain half a lb in a day..
Anyone know how to put up 2 exercise tickers ? I put up one from ticker factory and want to put up one more for my abs schedule - but each time I try, it just shows my earlier overall exercise ticker that I created for March.
Ok.. keep in touch!

hey there! prdmommy and aleagie, welcome!
carabo, i'm glad the stretching helped. i stretch so much when i'm sore even in my cube! i must look so funny, but it feels so good to loosen those muscles esp. after sitting for a long time.
so, it seems like kiigan and carabo helped me decide ... i made my first mini-goal!! i've now lost 10 whole pounds ... i can hardly believe it actually! i was walking around with an 8 pound weight the other day thinking ... wow, i lost all of this! i can't believe how much less i'm carrying around, my knees must be loving me when i run now! LOL!
i need to look into a HRM now since that is my reward for my mini-goal. it looks like they are just a watch, which would be nice ... but maybe there's a whole chest strap too? i don't know, i'll have to do my research. i feel like i guess calories a lot on many of my workout so it would be nice to know for certain ... or at least have one standard!
one last thing ... i just wrote in my journal for the first time. i think it might be a good idea to write in there every so often so i'm gonna give it a shot.

good morning! man, did I have a lot of catching up to do reading this morning!
Yesterday I took the day off work to spend with my man and we had a lot of fun! I woke up and did my exercises, we cleaned the apartment and went hiking for 3 HOURS!! It was awesome!! We hiked about 5 miles yesterday!
More good news, I am starting to weigh myself every morning instead of every Sunday night so I can keep track of what's going on a little better. Well, Sunday after a food fest at my b/f's parents house I weight 142.4, I think the weight was mostly all the dense stuff I had for dinner. Well, this morning I weighed in and after digesting all night, I was at 138.2!! HOORAY!! Now the hard part is to keep it at that or lower! I think the weight loss was partly using all the stuff I had eaten Sunday in addition to a 5 mile hike! :) It got up to 72 yesterday!
I'll be writing more in my journal so I don't take up a whole page here :)
Water ideas... I have a dark water bottle that I carry with me all day at work and all night at class. I like that it is dark b/c then I don't really moniter how much I'm drinking, well, I do b/c it's 32 oz and I go through 2 bottles/day. but, I just drink whenever I see it and don't worry about watching it and before I know it, it's all gone!!
Food today... multi grain cheerios w/low fat milk and a banana for breakfast, yoplait light for snack, turkey sandwich w/ light may and honey mustard and 1 c. veggies for lunch. 1 granola bar for later snack if I need it. I might have it so I am energized for my 4 o clock workout. I'm making chicken for dinner and probably baked potatoes.. Yum!

ps, welcome all new people!!! Awesome job on making it here!!!
Yea!!! Despite my "backward slide" I actually lost 1.5 lbs.! I am now half way to my goal. I weighed in at 135 this a.m. and am seeking the magic number of 130. So I guess I wasn't making terrible choices after all. Still feels good to be counting again.
Also, I noticed in the mirror last night that my butt seemed a teeny bit higher and a teeeny bit tighter. My hubbie conferred and said "your work is really noticeable." Needless to say despite the pouring rain and grey skies it's a good day!

Stacey - I glanced at your profile. You are so dedicated!! You have a lot of journal entries (unlike me). Seems you are almost to your goal - our weight & goals are similar. The mac & cheese and beer reference brought me back to college days... that was a long time ago! Almost 20 years... but man - mac & cheese, hot pot ramen noodles, beer, pizza.... I ballooned up to 160 lbs. I barely recognize those pictures of me!
Here's some hope for you 20-somethings... the best thing that ever happened to my body was having babies! I got myself in ok shape before (135-140 and exercising 3-4 x's per week). Then when I got pg. I made sure to eat healthy and only gain 28-33 lbs. By nursing and running around caring for a newborn the weight came off in no time. Then I found all kinds of fun ways to exercise with babies... especially rollerblading behind the jogging stroller. After both kids I saw more muscles than ever and dropped to 129#.
Just a little FYI!

I'm doing what I can! :) I try to keep up with my journal b/c I've found that talking about what I'm doing is helping. Also being able to vent about stuff to people in the same boat as me is awesome!!
Thanks for the info about babies! I needed to hear that! Not like I'm planning on makin babies anytime soon :) but that is one of my biggest fears with my family's health history. That is why I want to get in shape now and stay that way forever, so when it is time for me to start a family, I'll be able to have my healthy habits mastered and can get back into shape easily. Thats awesome that you got into better shape after having kids!!

wow!!! the activity level in this group has certainly picked up!!! how exciting!!!
carabo--
you have to close out your browser completely or use a different program to create a new ticker. it's REALLY annoying, but the only way it'll work. then to update, just click on whichever ticker and you shouldn't have any more problems.
wolfie--
i just got a Polar F6 on EBay for about $95. i'm happy with my investment :) it's a wrist unit with a transmitter that straps around your chest right at your braline. there are electrodes that monitor your heart then send the signal to the watch unit. really good for tracking cals and stuff. a great toy :)
srd--
wtg with that hike! da**! and good job with teh weight! can't wait till i'm there!
jen--
again, nice weight! and glad you're seeing the butt difference! i commented on that awhile ago to my b/f too--i was just in his room looking in the mirror and was like, hmm....i saw it again this morning :) it's just got a nicer shape :) lol.
and thanks for the pregnancy stuff :) hopefully, i won't have to worry about it for a while--but def good advice to keep in mind!!!
unicat--
yay grocery shopping :) hope the kids don't wear you out too much on spring break though!!!
i got my weight back down to 143 today--so maybe it'll just dip a little bit more thursday or friday! but who knows :) i got in about 100 oz of water yesterday! yay!!! i just made myself keep chugging and i had work to do so i made myself keep drinking the whole time :) had to pee at 2 in the morning...but whatever :) also got to play with my new HRM this morning! so much fun!

kiigan, does the F6 have a stopwatch? i don't need lap info or anything, but i like to see how long i've been running when i run outside. i'm pretty sure it has a backlight - is it indiglo? do you have to switch between the HRM function and the stopwatch function to see your time? sorry for all the questions, but it would be awesome if you could let me know 'cause i think otherwise the F6 is the one for me (since it's a little cheaper than the others i'm looking at too). Thanks!
I broke 140 for about one day 2 weeks ago and ate my way back up... Was bummed but back on track now. You guys will get there soon!!! I know it! :)
the water thing will get much, much easier with time. I drink about 100 oz a day easily now that I've been doing it for a while. That was one of the first things I incorporated into my eating plans and now I run out of 32 oz of water before the end of my work day! I drink another 32 oz at school and some in between and around... One bad habit I started is buying diet pop when I run out of water... but sometimes I am so thirsty and the vending machine doesn't have water!! And the water in the pipes at work tastes like metal, so that is my last resort...
Tonight I'm going to take it easy on the work out. I'm going to bust out an old yoga dvd from last year b/c my shins are KILLING! I got shin splints (?) Sunday and my hike yesterday didn't help much. I am too stubborn to just chill out and let them heal. My boss told me I need to relax and ice them or it'll never get better... So instead of doing my bouncy aerobics dvds I'm opting for low intensity so I can move around in some way today.
Tomorrow my dad is bringing lunch for my mom, sister and I... KFC... ugh. I'm getting a roasted chicken salad w/ fat free ranch. Sadly, that was the healthiest thing I could find on their menu that may be somewhat filling...

I agree with the water thing.. I NEVER used to drink water.. diet coke and iced tea all the way.. then I bought a pretty 1 liter water bottle (I figured if it looked fun I'd be more inclined to use it lol) and carry it with me.. I usually drink 2 while at work without even thinking about it..havent broken the diet coke habit yet but definately reduced it...
You all sound like you're doing so well! it's exciting and motivating to hear.. I did pretty well til I got home yesterday..I was tired, stressed, hungry after work and my roomie has a thing for sweets.. I was at day 5.5 of counting again after a long-ish hiatus..the day i usually give up.. and grabbed 4 thin mint cookies and a handful of m and ms.. went for another but stopped this time (despite my roommates' insistence that it didnt matter and to just eat what I was craving). At that moment, I realized that it's getting to be bikini weather here (az)again.. I wore one for the first time in my LIFE last summer at 132 and loved it..it was the first time i didnt want to hide my body..and now, I need make sure I'm ready for summer #2..it was enough to put me back on track though I still felt guilty for slipping so bad but went to the gym for my usual hr and 15 min weekday routine and ate a lighter breakfast to try to offset the cals..Ok ok.. I need to stop rambling! Thank you all for being out there and keep up the great work!

Still at 148 ..And I sort of stress binged y'day..(easily around 2000 calories) but that didnt make it budge either. I feel pretty good though physically..
I really shouldn't binge again in the near future at least - it was really hard to come down here from 150 :D..
Congratulations on your mini goal Teenwolf ! That must feel awesome.. @ 10 lbs..
Kiigan, I managed to put the ticker up :) Thanks :).. I had given up on it the other day. And yes, it is annoying !

lily - don't worry about last night - a couple girl scout cookies and a handful of m&ms won't kill you. just log 'em and move on! you're doing great!! good job stopping yourself and going to the gym!
ugh, why wont the 140/130 club stay in my list on my profile lol.. i had to bookmark it.. the 150's club is staying there... lol..
and why oh why do people always call right in the middle of my work out?? i was 33 minutes into my billyblanks bootcamp.. and there goes my phone.. i have to answer it cos i have two kids in school... so spent 10 minutes on the phone with one of my sons teachers.. and quit sweating... ugh... BUT i did make myself finish the other 20 minutes of my dvd, and was sweating again by the end of it :)
everyone else having a glorious day?? i am off to the grocery store, finally...
btw lily sometimes its good to ramble... it gets all those things you are thinking about off your chest, and we are a great sounding board for it :) and i wanna be in a bikini by summer too... (oh wait, i live in hawaii, i should already be in a bikini.. lol.. and i need a tan too.. lol)

wolfie--i left a note in your journal about the F6.

shin splints suck. i used to get them when i first started running, although my legs have gotten stronger so i dont' get 'em now. but it also helps to walk/jog backwards (weird i know) or walk up steep hills--it strengthens the muscles you need. but yeah--you have to take it easy or they wont' go away :(
carabo and lily--don't sweat the extra cals. no biggie!
i hate it when the phone rings int he middle! you're panting, into the exercise, and then you have to stop :(
i'm really hoping to be feelin' good in a bikini! i'll still wear one...but i won't be happy about it! :) I have to wear the boyshorts cuz my thighs are really big (genetics...grr...) but oh well :)
