I have been seriously working at losing weight for 4 months.  I am 43 years old, started out at 222 pounds and am now down to 210.  My goal weight is 160 which is where I was 8-9 years ago.  I have been losing weight very slowly, which is discouraging.  Though I have been losing inches: 4 inches on my waist, 3.5 on my hips, 3.5 on my chest, 2 in my upper arms, and 1.5 in my thigh.

I keep my calorie intake to 2000 – 1600.  I was taking in 3000 plus before.

I exercise 4-5 times a week for an hour - to an hour and a half.  My routine includes a 5 minute warm-up on the stationary bike, 10 minutes of stretching, 20 minutes of serious cardio on the treadmill, and depending on the day 30-50 minutes of floor exercises, free weights and machines.  (I have a weak knee and need to spend time strengthening the muscles that support it – I want to get it strong enough that I can run on it.)

I’m looking for suggestions on dropping the pounds.  What am I doing wrong?  I read all these great testimonials about women losing pounds.  Am I on the right track?

Not sure if anyone is still tracking here - but for good measure:

Starting Weight: 205

Goal Weight: 148

Last Week: 189.4

Current Weight: 188.4

Also lost 1" around my waist and hips this month.  All my jeans are too big and I plan to do some shopping over the long weekend -- size 14 it's good to see you again!

STAHLY: Just remember that slow weight loss is still weight loss!  I have been losing about 1 lb. a week since I started, but after some time those small numbers start to really add up.  Just keep logging and keep exercising and you will get there!  Good luck :)

kim79my---just keep plugging!  You will break through it!

I have not entered my weight for this week....we went to North Carolina to a beer pong tournament and I drank beer and ate barbeque...and came back 3.2lbs heavier...mind you I realize that I did not eat and drink enough to gain 3.2 lbs.  But I have TTOTM....AGAIN and all the sodium and stuff is really kicking my butt.  I just couldn't even stand the thought of entering 198.8.  I'm back down to 196.6---but that's still up from the previous Monday.  BOOOOOOO!!!!

Anyway--great job future_tadddei!

And STAHLY: that's typically what my weekly weight loss is as well (when I'm not boozing it up the one time a year...)  You aren't doing anything wrong--it's just harder coming off than it is going on!  To add to what future_tadddei said, I liken it to walking up a really really steep hill.  If you look at the top of the hill and how far you have to go, you will get discouraged.  But if you just look down at the road and put one foot in front of the other, at some point you will turn around and realize how FAR you have come because those small numbers really do add up!  Good luck and don't lose faith!  You can do this.

Thanks for the words of encouragement!

Hi ya'll,

I went to NC a couple of weekends ago and have been trying to fix what I broke ever since....I finally got the weight to come back down--it just took some perserverance.  So, I'm back on my game.  Whoo hoo!

Oh, and wants2bhot...that is AWESOME.  9 lbs down feels soooo much better than 9 lbs up, huh?  Way to go!

And where are my future_tadddei and kim79??? Just checkin' on you guys!  Hope things are going well!

I really need some motivation everyone at my work is doing the biggest loser but of course they are already skinny in my eyes so I came here instead. I didn't want the people I work with know that I weigh 215lbs. I'm 28 and 5'6" and would love to get back down to 160lbs. I've been watching what I eat but I really need to get motivated to get back into the gym. So i'm definitely on board with you guys. If I could be down 30lbs by Christmas I would be a happy camper!

Hi  angelas00,

We are all here to keep u motivated :-)

I have been stuck at my weight fro one month(210) and i want to get out of 200's so desperately.

I feel i was overestimating teh calorie burned and so consuming more.now trying to restrcit to 1600.

Lets see.

btwn what is ur daily calorie limit?

stahly111,

I also started at 221 and now stuck at 209 for more than a month!.

I was eating in the same caloric range as u.

I'm just getting frustrated again. I know I need to stick to my plan and I have been working out but I'm still at 215!

I know what you mean.  I just can't get my motivation level up.  Our power is out right now, so we are eating at family's houses and/or eating out.  We don't expect power to be on until some time next week.  I just don't know how to give myself the much needed kick in the butt.

Hope it's not to late to get on board. I'm 203 pounds and depressed to death because I can't move this weight. I'm generally around 190 but want ot get down to 160. I'm with ya sista. How do I sign up!!!

I've lost another 3 pounds!  Not sure how.  I went away for the weekend.  Ate all kinds of crap, drank wine and cocktails, didn't exercise and when I did my regular weigh in at the gym there it was 207.  I'll take it, just not sure it helps to encourage me to bust my @$$ working out.  Surprised

Hey people, how is everyone doing? I have lost 22 pounds now and I feel really good about it. This is when the hard part starts, I can feel this is oging to be  a plateau for a whilebut as long as I don't gain then I am satisfied for now.
