hi all....

was absolutely busy all this time.... we had a wedding coming up on the 23rd, my bro's wedding... but my grandma... who's 95... has taken ill and this is the end of her glorious life... when she lost her husband at the age of 38, she stayed helathy and alive for her 5 kids... 4 biological and 1 adopted... she ran the family business for nearly 30 years till my uncle took it up... and she did all this at a time when women usually did not go out of their houses in india... but she's adjusted herself so well with times... she even learnt how to use a cell phone!!! a wonderful life she lived... but the last days of her life they're so bad... she's on a life support system... c'oz her brain is alive... but she cannot recognize anyone... not even the sons and daughters for whom she always lived... a wonderful, brave lady.... but so fragile right now... my heart breaks for her... but we cannot do anything but wait... it hurts to think that actually we are waiting for her to die... did she live so long just to see this day?????

we preponed the wedding to 10th so tht it could happen while she's there... and my bro and SIL would take her blessings... but on the eve of their wedding my SIL's grandfather (98) passed away forcing us to postpone the wedding indefinitely... its all so messy... i got to see all colors of characters... and sometimes it even made me sick... people are so selfish at times...

apart from all this i feel i and my husband are drifting away from each other... he used to understand a lot earlier... but now... he seems to have a problem with everything i do... he does not want me to work, when i've been telling him long before we got married tht i'm not the housewife kind of girl... my career is as important to me as my home... but.............. dunno whats wrong....

lets see what happens... the only good news among all this is i haven't given up my diest-exercise-dance routine... and have managed to get down to 158 lbs...  in a healthy manner...

Shruti, so sorry about your grandmother - Im sure this is tough on you but what an great life shes had and to have your family there for her now.  95 yrs old - one can only wish for such a long lifetime.

Things always seemed so happy for you and you hubby - hoping this is just a phase and it does sound like youve some stressful situations around you.  I was always been big on working - not so much anymore but think I know where your coming from.

Updating our log, I would wonder if we'd hear from you and yours.  You have been doing great I see - your last noted weight was 166.  Hope to continue hearing from you!

Early morn to all!  Pouring down all night and still.  I have a big tub of the mini crystal light tubs and last night, it looked like cookies in there.  Halluninate much?  PB is the item on my mind and I will not buy it because of that - actual cravings and have portion issues with it.  I was thinking about that I was just craving fat but no, it the PB taste.  Convinced I'd be out to store last night but feel asleep early.
Shruti, so glad that you are still with us.  So sorry to hear about your grandmother!!  My grandmother was 92 when she died (I was about 15), and she had been around for so long that I thought she bout live forever.  And from what you said, she seems to have had a long and happy life, so dont be too sad!

And I hope things get sorted with yourself and your hubby!!

{{{ BIG HUG }}}

Jayne, your up early!!!  And now you have me thinking of peanut butter!!!!!!!

Wanted to be 130 for Valentines, and have reached that goal this morning!!!! yay!!!
Good morning,  Hiya Shruti Ive missed you girl and been thinking about you. Sorry to hear about your grandma.  She sounds like a great lady.  I know where your coming from when you the say that the nasty's in people can come out when theres a death.  It was like that at my brothers funeral.  I was very angry at my family for there behavior.  it was all I could do to keep my cool through the whole ordeal and try not to judge to harshly.  Hang in there and stay strong.  Congrats on your weight and take care of yourself!!

Jayne Id shake my celery stick at you but you might dip it in the PB.  Ive seen individual size cups of PB if your worried about portion control.  I always tend to buy in bulk cause of the kids and its cheaper but there are exceptions.  I bought pancake mix that only makes 6 pancakes per bag that way there wont be enough for me to sneak one in.  BOOHOO miss my pancakes though.
Morning Gina  WOW 130  CONGRATS!!!  You posted just before me!
It probably is a fluke though!!  Will wait and see if it lasts!!!!
Be really really good the next couple of days.  hopfully it will stick.  I was shocked on the scale his morning cause it went up.  Ive been so good to.  The only thing that I can think of is I bought wraps again and had 2 yesterday.  maybe the carbs are bloating me up LOL!!!
shurti:  What a wonderful life your g'ma has lead.  That's amazing about her running a business, when women weren't normally doing that.  You know what strong genes you must have, looking at her.  I hope things get better with your hubby.

heather:  I'm sort of in NE Ohio, but more central.  Warmer temps today, but icy roads and looks like 3 in of snow.  Couldn't figure the snow/ice warnings as they were from all counties I never heard of.........then my county, as tho the weather skipped over here.  I'm sick of being inside, but cautious, so don't know if I'll go out since I don't really need to.

Sarah:  check the sodium you're eating.  I swear last time I had tortillas, for breakfast, my weight was up.

Gina:  it will stick.  Once I get down, then it may go up briefly, but always returns back down.  Try to keep it there till Thurs at least.  That is 2# less than last week, right?  wow.

sun:  SO! you didn't go to grocery store?  ha.  I didn't go to gym either.  Temps dangerously low.  If you did have car trouble you could freeze waiting on anyone.  I moved big heavy furniture around all afternoon and like it better, but every room is a disaster now and thats my chore for today.

Am trying so hard to keep my 174.8 that I don't dare cheat.  It's really quite a strain for me.  Feeling confident I can be to 173 Thurs. but never considered the weather trapping me inside so will blame weather on not meeting Valentines Day goal, (if I don't)
Great work Gina !!  That is great and yes hang in there - two days to go!  I actually fell back asleep LOL.  I wouldnt be put off Sarah - you know youre doing right so sounds like a flucuation is all.  If I were you, I'd be happy with hitting 150s for your goal - thats a great breakthrough in itself.

Forgot about the Valentines day goal - how conenient.  Ive been really good to so expecting another drop but my crazy weeks have wasted time.  Needing to stay right to get to my 300 June 28th goal but I built in plateau allowance - just not sure how much of that time of used up. Still planning for the best this week.

Hope its not the wraps, Sarah since Im planning on keeping up with the fruit and was thinking about the wraps.  Burned out on sald know and got bottles of no fat dressing.  I love the taste still - maybe could incorporate it into using wraps.
Ha - I was going to ask where you were Rachael!  Hmm you have freezing, I had pouring rain and figured I could run out this before work but sill was coming down and at my pace, did not want to be loading the car in the downpour.  Unlike me, you are so close to goal - wishing you luck with willpower in this final stretch.

I only just started last Wednesday and for the first couple of days I lost a pound a day and then up almost a pound and now the last couple of days the scale hasn't changed.  What's up with that? I absolutely haven't cheated. We just started going to a brand new gym in town and go every day; I don't get it.

I've been calorie counting for three weeks (and lost 5 pounds) but am going on vacation in six weeks and wanted to speed things up.  What am I doing wrong?

If your following the plan closely then I wouldnt be concerned.  This sounds like either your a simple weight flucuation or your bodys adjusting tothe weight loss but expect it to be temporary.   Congrats on your success up to now!  I realize your under a time frame and as long as your being faithful to the plan, this will pass.  Check through the specifics of what your eating and be aware of salt intake which if too much can cause a stall.
Orcasinger - are you getting enough fibre.  When I did Phase1, I found I got a bit constipated, and like Sun said watch the salt intake.

Jayne - your up very early!!!! Just arrived into work myself.

Wow...I thought I was the only early riser! I guess I should take a chill pill OR maybe a fibre pill lol and stop being so impatient.  My daughter was visiting the other day and she like dropped ten pounds since I last saw her not long ago.  Those days for me are sadly over. I guess I should have started or rather stayed on my good eating plan long before now.

and now I am throwing away the last of the smoked ham and taking some large gulps of metamucil.

thanks sun and sandlady

Can I have low carb protein powder for a meal substitute? I am really tired of eggs for breakfast.
Not too sure.  Jayne (Sun) is the expert  on all things southbeach.  I'm not doing South Beach anymore, but I still enjoy coming to this thread, and anyways I dont think the others would let me leave!!

;)
your right Gina we'll never let you escape BWAHHAA!!!  Anyways.....*hangs head in shame and more shame*  Banana Pudding did me in  I was like a mad woman and ate till it was coming out my ears.  What the heck happened to my portion control.  Well.... it flew out the window and I hope its back today.  Going to walk as much as possible.
My new "Cooking Lite" recipe book has a recipe for banana pudding I'm anxious to try, when I have someone around to eat part of it.

no, Gina, don't leave.

I was in a big calorie deficit and only lost 3 oz yesterday.  Shoveling snow was my big activity.  Tried to drive and turned around after 2 min cause roads too bad.  Will try today, heard the snow plows last night.  If not, I "MAY" walk to the gym.

Instead of all the cooking I'd do, snowed in, I'm cleaning more so not thinking of food so much.  Junk drawers (ha, they're ALL junk drawers) and odd things like that.

Last night at bedtime was hungry, so just had a slice of WWheat, 40 calories bread, toasted, with nothing on it, and I was so hungry, it tasted really good.

Is everyone ready to weigh in tomorrow?

Dr. Guyto is on TV saying how candidates stay healthy and Clinton swears by spicy food and there is a theory that curry wards off cancer and cayene pepper helps with pain.   hmmmm, never heard that before.  Glad I like curry.
Sarah, dont worry about it!!! start again tomorrow!!  You are allowed to treat yourself!!

Rachel, I spent mose of my weekend doing a BIG clean out of my room at home!!  Its still not quiet finished (and I have a HUUUUUGGGGGE sorting bag to go through - bank statements, receipts etc!), so I know the "fun" your having at the mo!!

Half way through the day now!!  Looking forward to getting out of work - think I really need a day off!!  going for a meal tonight - my friends birthday - oh the joys of excess salt and fat and over indulgence!
DISCLAIMER: Im an imposter, not an expert.  I just use online sources to get SB info.  And when people ask about recipes, I hide and point to Sarah.

Orca, we dont see problems with plan modifications.  I dont know that its ever been addressed regarding SB.  If it works and your not left hungry too soon, it seems something you personally could allow.  Consider stepping outside whats consider foods - lunch or dinner items in the morning open a lot of options, especially if your sticking to strict phase1.

Gina, if your like me - the paperwork can as long as physical cleanup.  What accomplishment though when its done and everythings good.  Rachael, shoveling snow makes you the winner as I postponed another day.  When I was young and crazy active, I'd often do the dry diet toast - definitely worked.

Wishing you strength today Sarah with the temptations.  A whole day to clean out your system before weigh in too.  It happens and your trying to turn it around the next day - better then when Ive a bad day that turns into a week.
