My update: I did damage control today, lowering my calories BY A LOT... I got up to 1287, and did a little bit of exercise. Very little. I have exactly 700 Deficit, and that was sort of my plan for today (1300 calories or a 700 deficit - hey! both!). No pizza again for awhile, unless it's just one slice and is meant to be a full meal and not 1/8th of a meal. I want lunch off campus tomorrow, so, if I don't want to use my car (gas! agh!), I've got my pick of Subway, Jimmy John's (another sub place), Manhattan Pizza & Subs, New York Pizza, two Mexican restaurants, a Chinese restaurant, Thai, Indian, or Korean. Have I forgotten any? Hm... I'm thinking Korean. Prices are JUST RIGHT and it fills me up quickly so I don't end up with extra Calories. Or the Indian. It's a $5.99 buffet, but I eat very little there because it's very spicy. Good price too. I will have to think about it. I love food WAYYY too much. |

QUESTION OF THE DAY - TUESDAY JUNE 17' In looking at your GOALS, which one(s) do you think you need to focus on the MOST this upcoming week or so? MOLLY |

In looking at your GOALS, which one(s) do you think you need to focus on the MOST this upcoming week or so?
GOING TO THE GYM! I've got to do a little bit more exercise before the personal trainer sees what kind of mess I am (probably the beginning of next week). On that note... I know I will see a MUCH BETTER result during this fitness assessment. When I was given the assessment in January (right when I began my weight loss plan), I was 198 lb and 40.5% body fat. That was a huge shocker. Considering I am down to 166.2 lb (a lot of which is muscle), I'm going to see a massive change. |

Original Post by mollymouser: This week (so far) I'm doing pretty well on my fitness and healthy eating. But tomorrow night I'm heading out for a Bistro dinner at our local upscale French restaurant. As splurge dinners go, a tomato mozzarella salad, with pan-seared tilapia...could be worse. Dessert, hmm, depends on the dessert du jour. And I will be having a glass of wine or a cocktail. So all bets are off for my Friday weigh-in. I need to keep up my five-miles-a-day walking (maybe I'll do a little extra tomorrow and Thursday, to work off that dinner!) |

QUESTION OF THE DAY FRIDAY JUNE 13 Do you take any vitamins or supplements? (Why or why not?) I currently only take a women's one a day multi vitamin. I plan on asking my doctor what else I should be taking. QUESTION OF THE WEEKEND JUN 14-15 Are you doing anything special to celebrate Flag Day or Father's Day? We usually don't do anything to celebrate Flag day. For Father's Day, my 2 oldest children went ot the their Dad's for the day, then my DH & our 2 yr old & I went to church, then came home & all of us took a nice nap, then we went to chinese dinner. QUESTION OF THE DAY MONDAY JUNE 16 What was the last thing that you ate that you wished afterward that you HADN'T eaten? (And was it yummy?) Well, as you can see from above, I had chinese food on Father's Day,
although it was yummy at the moment, I totally regretted it later. QUESTION OF THE DAY - TUESDAY JUNE 17' In looking at your GOALS, which one(s) do you think you need to focus on the MOST this upcoming week or so? DRINK MORE WATER! Even though it has gotten hotter I am still having trouble drinking more water. I seem to do o.k. when I am eating, I drink water & maybe one more glass without even having to think about it, but trying to get the rest of the recommended amount in is so hard for me! Still bouncing back & forth with my weight 232-230, I just can't get past that 230 mark like I want to! |

Hi there everybody! I just got back from a really nice vacation in Portland, and now it's time to get back to business. It's TTOM, so I have no idea how many of the 5 pounds I seem to have gained are from that, from dehydration, from food in my system (weighed at 4:30 pm), or actual overeating. I guess I'll find out over the next few days. I did get a lot of exercise down there, including some really heavy working, so hopefully it'll fall back off soon. I'll be short and sweet catching up on QODs: vitamins and supplements: I don't take any, and I'm with southernmidwife on avoiding "medicines" in general. Fathers day/flag day: My dad lives in Florida, so I didn't see him, but I talked to him on the phone. I have friends in portland with a 2 year old, and her birthday was on Sunday. We celebrated for her and her dad together. Foods I wish I hadn't eaten: I go with the "no regrets" philosophy on food. The only time I regret eating things is when I've paid a lot for them and they don't taste that great. Goals to work on: water water water water water water water That's all for now. I hope everybody had a great weekend! |

QUESTION OF THE DAY -- WEDNESDAY JUN 18 Do you like pickles? If so, what kind? (Pickle pickles, as well as any other sort of pickled veggies, including pickle relish!) MOLLY |
||
| #469 | Jun 18 2008 05:06 | |
Original Post by mollymouser: I do like pickles, if they are the right kind. I don't like bread & butter pickles at all. I only like pickle relish if it is mixed in tuna salad. I know I'm strange! LOL! |

I broke through my plateau!!!! I've been stuck for three weeks fluctuating between 169 and 170 pounds. As of this morning I am 166.6. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. Also, my 10k race this past weekend was awesome. It was crazy hot and humid, and the course was, as someone else who wrote about it put it, "grueling", with lots of hills and stairs to climb. I finished in 1:24, which put me ahead of like 30 women in my age group. My boyfriend says my new nickname is "The Flash". Hardly, but I'll take it. Food Regrets: None, really. I have been doing a good job overall, and although some days I eat into my deficit a bit more than planned, it's not something I regret, just something to keep an eye on. I splurge at least once a week and that seems to have kept me from binging or anything. Goals: The goal I have to pay the most attention to still is being nicer to myself. I'm feeling so good today that this won't be a problem!
Pickles: I like pretty much all pickles, but particularly my Mom's Bread and Butter Pickles. I love to make quick pickled onions for my salad.

I like pickles OK. I'm a fan of bread and butter pickles, but also the min-gherkin, cornichons. I have pretty much given them up because they are SO high in sodium. |

Melly.... That's awesome! Congratulations on the 10K. I'm envious of your strength. I walk about 6 miles a day and I am feeling much stronger the more I do. Keep up the good work. You are an inspiration. Regarding pickles: It's funny. I really enjoy pickles and will almost always take some when they are offered to me. But I rarely buy them. I won't put dills on my hamburger if I'm making it myself but I also won't have them left off if they come that way at the burger place. I do love sweet pickles. (But again, rarely buy them.) My aunt used to make pickled watermelon rind and I remember loving it. Haven't had it in years. Beth |

Way to go Melly! That's awesome! As for the QOD, I love pickles, but not the sweet kind. Dill pickles rock my world. I especially love the little ones (snackers). They're so cute and so low in calories. They add so much flavor to sandwiches and veggie burgers. Hooray for pickles! |

YAY MELLY!
By the way, I love love love love love love pickles. Gherkins. Dill. Bread and Butter. Pickled corn. Pickled garlic. Pickled onions. Pickled veggies. Pickle relish! The lattice is now installed on the new backyard fence, and the agapanthus bushes have arrived and are waiting to be planted on Friday. I bought and spread new top soil in the flower box for the new shrubbery. After that, the backyard fence/renovation project will be complete ... about $1250 later. (Photos in my journal) My 7 foot tall sunflowers in the front yard are all in bloom, as are my black-eyed susans, various popies, and assorted other flowers. I snapped some quick shots of them to send to my wonderful DH (he said he missed flowers, greenery and shade) ... photos is my journal. I went through "Adoption Counselor Training" last night for another local rescue group (I already volunteer as one for Emmie's Animal Rescue), and it looks like I will start staffing an Adoption Booth in a local pet store 2 Saturdays a month in July. It looks like the transportation of cats and dogs and the set-up/tear-down will be the biggest amount of work, but since many of the other volunteers are really sweet "little old ladies", I think I'll be doing most of that. What's cool is that I am not healthy enough to do it -- this time last year I never could've said yes. I had a very nice time yesterday with Calorie Count's own Stella Jo who was visiting California with her husband (he's here for work) from Texas. We chatted, played with kitties, visited a couple of local parks, had a great Tapas lunch at a Spanish restaurant called Flamenco's, then we shopped at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods! (They don't have those stores in Texas.) It was really nice. Tomorrow (Thursday), I am helping out Emmie's Animal Rescue pick up some cats (three) and dogs (two) from the spay/neuter facility, then "holding" them at my house for a few hours until they can be picked up and transported. The two dogs (mom and son) are Chihuahuas and Dylan (the puppy) is just over 2 pounds. (Which means my two kittens are bigger!) Two of the three cats are feral, so all the cats will just have to stay crated in my guest bathroom. I am not going anywhere NEAR a scale, but I continue to eat my standard low calorie high fiber breakfast, and I am eating generally pretty decently, though at or above maintenance calories, I think. Still, I'm watching my carbs and testing my blood sugars 6 times a day. I think I will enjoy the rest of the week and my 3 days at the coast next week, then come back and get back to stricter calorie counting after having gone wild for 2 weeks. That sounds ok, doesn't it? MOLLY |

Well given the past few days the goal I most need to work on is getting my calories within 1800 per day. I'm currently averaging about 2400. I love pickles, dill and bread and butter are a two of my favorites. Have a good day-Dianne |

QUESTION OF THE DAY, THURSDAY JUNE 19 "The pizza and pop tarts diet" "The steak, bacon and sourdough toast diet" "The chocolate and cheesecake diet" In your wildest dreams, what sort of diet would you like to see (assuming you could actually eat healthy and lose weight doing it?
