Hi every one! Can I join too? I just joined CC, found it kind of a fluke on google. I am 34, married, 4 kids, 5'4", and about 185#

... may sound kind of extreme, but I am looking to get down to 120-130#. This is around the weight I was before I started having kids, when I was 19 to 20 years old. After my first son (I gained a ton of weight) I was able to get back down to 140-150. After my daughter, I was able to get back to around 160 or so. Then I had twins. I was able to get back to around 170-175 when they were around a year old, but then I started home daycare and plumped up to close to 190. I have a fairly small frame, so I think 125 or so isnt out of the question. I just really want to be healthy again.

I started a diet about a week ago- 1400-1500 calories/day (my first REAL diet), and have been exercising at home for about a month now. You all sound like you are doing a great job and i could use the encouragement and motivation of a bunch like you to go through this together!

Went on a supppper long walk yesterday with another CC chickie. It was fun, and I'm only slightly sore today.

Ate out, so the scale is up a bit, but it'll back down again. Starting to kick my ass into shape for Bay to Breakers, which is on the 18th of this month! I need a costume too, so I will be trying sewing for the first time..woo!

How's everyone?

I checked this morning, and I'm 182lbs.  And I'm sick with bronchitis and stomach pains.  For some days now.  I haven't been eating right, but enough for my calorie count.  I haven't excerised in over a week and I feel like poo.  I did get out the house for once and get some food for the house so I can have homemade soup and maybe food cooked for me till I get better.

I came to work cause of a misunderstanding but I plan to go home soon and go back to bed.  Also, I haven't had a period this month.  I hate that I've had this thing for 14 years and it never does what it's suppose to.  I stop taking birth control cause of some medicine and now my body goes outta wack.  Meh.  Hopefully everything will get better whenever I get well.

Oh, Selene...  I hope you feel better!  I feel your pain about the period being all out of whack!  I finally went off of my BC in the fall and my period is still screwed up and unpredictable!  I loved when I was on the BC and I knew exactly when it was coming or I would just skip it altogether!  Now I never am sure when the darn thing is just going to pop in.  You probably wonder why I went off it... well, to put it simply, the extra hormones made me crazy.  Horrible, horrible mood swings and it made me an evil person.  Now that I'm off my husband says I am so much better and so much easier to get along with.  I think I feel a lot healthier too!  I don't think putting all those extra hormones into your body and "tricking" it are a good idea, but I know some people need it for medical reasons.  Selene, do you notice a difference and feel better off it??

Selene - Sorry about the bronchitis.  It took me two or three weeks to get over it, but it made me lose a bunch of weight really fast!  Maybe you'll come out of it with a good happy number.  For now, just focus on getting better and not on what you're eating.  Orange Juice, soup, and happy foods.  That's all you can have!  Also... my period skipped twice (sort of... I bled for less than a day apiece), and I AM on birth control.  Crazy.

Hi Lilsmiter!!!  That would make the most sense.  If you get a new scale or a new battery, I'm dying to know what you weigh.  You work a lot harder than I do to lose weight, so I'd be happy to see what you've got.  And I'm happy you're done with smoking and your sinus infection is pretty much over.

Aww damn, they put suds in the decorative fountain again.  Why are some college kids that stupid?

I've tried the glucosamine method of getting my knees a little more flexible, but so far the only outcome is that my appetite has grown to gargantuon proportions.  I ate a 1000 Calorie meal yesterday and I was wondering if I'd eaten enough.  I'm going to have to focus on "mind over body", and eat a little bit less.

I have started using the Firm transfirmation dvds. They are a pretty intense workout, and very hard for a clumsy, uncoordinated person like me to follow. The ladies leading the workout move so quick one move to the next, I cant seem to be able to copy the performance. So I do what I can and just keep moving around when I'm lost- which is most of the time! Hopefully I'll be able to catch on eventually.

I just bought a scale a few days ago.. my first read was 186, then later in the day 184, then the next day 182, and then later back to 185... Does anyone else see this type of fluctuation? I suppose a couple of times the heavier ones could have been heavier clothes, like jeans. My lowest read on it so far was 180. When is the right time of day to weigh, and when can I say that is my actual weight?

Newlook, speaking of events, I have been trying to lose a little quickly too.. My husband and I are going on a cruise in about a week and a half now. I am really excited about it, but nervous too. I am much heavier than I would like to be (am dreading the swimsuit :( ), and I am afraid of falling off the wagon with my diet being on a vacation where food is everywhere all the time! This is our first cruise ever, and we don't travel much, so this is really a big deal for us! The kids are going to stay with my parents for the week :)    Even with the apprehension, I am happy and ready to have a good time!

And no, 174.8 is high for me lately. I've been getting down to 172 or 173 a lot in the past few weeks. Goal of 170 on the 30th of last month was obviously not met though.

I've decided that cooking at home is really good for me. It makes me really appreciate the food. I made parmesean herb chicken, salad with pears, cranberries and walnuts, and wheat french bread sprinkled with provolone and mozzarella, and topped with a slice of tomato. I baked the chicken and broiled the bread so that the cheese would melt and the tomato would get all warm.

AND I have leftovers today! Hurray for healthy yumminess!

k9 - No.  My moods aren't better or worse and my body feels the same.  My stomach doesn't.  It starts cramping for no reason, which makes me think I would finally get my period.  But no.  I did go take a pregnancy test just in case, but nope.  It's been a week since it was suppose to come.  Oh well, I guess it's just not coming.

Last week's meals were whatever was brought home.  Chicken sandwiches, chicken and potatoes, sandwiches from Togo's, etc.  Now, it's soup, cereal, banana...stuff that stays down.  Plus this fever keeps coming and going and I don't know why.  Ugh.  I hope I get better soon.

Selene - It could just be that it's not coming because you're sick and your body is weak??  It sounds like it wants to, but can't, lol.  At least you know you're not pregnant.  I'd give it a little while and if it keeps up the way it is maybe you could talk to your doctor about it.  Good luck!

 

Newlook08 - I have similar stats... I started in the 180's, am 27 years old, and am 5'7".  I currently just got down to 160!!!  I started cc Feb. 17th and so far I've lost 22 lbs. and am shooting for a goal of around 143lbs or so.  Well, maybe 140???  Not sure yet.

Wendy - I know what you mean about trying to slim for holidays - have just come back from two weeks in Cuba - a holiday i'd waited for for ages - but still didnt manage to drop that much weight for.

But the great thing about holiday is you just tend to forgot all that stuff when you're there. I always think they'll be slimmer people than me, and bigger people too, and so long as you're having fun then that's all that matters! Enjoy you're cruise it sounds great.

 

K9Stylist - well done on your weight loss I am really jealous! Can I ask what kind of daily calorie intake have you been sticking to? And how much excercise you've been doing as I'd love to be able to shift that much.

 

Newlook - Thanks, and I'm sure you'll get there too!  Usually I stick to 1300-1400 calories/day.  I exercise on the treadmill about 3 times a week for an hour or so and I have a light activity lifestyle so I am on my feet a lot and walking around at work most of the time.  If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.  :)

Nasuoni - All that tasty food makes me hungry!  And I just ate!

Selene - I'm having the same problems.  Could be an iron intake.  I haven't had a period in two months (except for a slight trickle for part of one day each month).  My hormones, on the other hand, are very sensitive to a skipped period and make my moods jump all over the place - and most times when I skip a period I'm not pregnant.  I cramp occasionally, and I stop and I think... "I guess I'll put a pad in my purse for later."  And... K9 stylist could be right - it might not be coming beause you're sick and weak.

Today I'm up 1/2 a pound, and I know I shouldn't worry about it.  I'm going to blame it on last night's Chinese buffet.  Why do my parents always insist on going to Chinese buffets when we go out of town (even if it's the next town over)?  I can't count calories because it's too hard to figure out what I ate... (e.g. Is this chicken or pork?  Chewy and covered in some kind of sesame sauce...)

Leo - I wouldn't worry about that 1/2 pound... I'm sure you'll be down again in no time.  A half pound is small in the whole scheme of things anyways.  :)

Wendy - Congrats on the new scale!  Everyone has their own routine, but I only weigh myself once a week, every Tues. morning.  I do it in the morning before I eat anything and after I go to the bathroom.  I keep it the same every week so that I'm consistent.  I've tried weighing myself throughout the day before and it's just way too depressing seeing all of the weight fluctuations. 

:-P Chinese food is worth half a pound.

I weigh everyday in the morning before I eat anything (after I go #1).  And if I go to the bathroom (#2), I weigh again.  I count the smallest number always because it's my body, and my body DID hit that number at some point during the day, didn't it?
