Good Morning

Fun Friday what's everyone up to ?

* Whew!!! * Tongue out

Home at last!!! Surprised

Took a mini-Vacation last night from canning... read a book till 2 am... SurprisedEmbarassed

THEN had to get up at 6 am to take youngest daughter in for tests at the hospital where she works as an Emergency Room Tech... after she had to be hurriedly taken there last night by her soon-to-be-Fiance with severe upper-abdominal pain...

THEN take her to a near-by town to pick up her car...

Very Tired now...!!! Tongue out

Hoping the tests find a simple easy-to-deal-with problem... waiting...

Gonna' rest and Lurk back later-- Go, Gang!!!! Laughing

Hope daughter is better soon.

DWF:  The hormonal clouds are breaking, I took today off to detox a bit from my workload, just back from a 40 minute run/walk with Allie.  It felt good but for a pain in butt, the glutes are a bit tight from the spin class earlier this week.  Back home and did some stretching while watching my soap, General Hospital.

I weighed myself this a.m. and it looks like last weekends chocolate cake didn't add in any weight, my scale at home is a bit lighter than my official scale at the gym and it read 202, which probably should have me at 207.  I'll get my official weight tomorrow.

Vstar:  I don't mind the squats, it the lunges that are more difficult for me, I'm always off balance and the wall squats are killer.

2BB:  Hope your daughter is okay!

Shout out to all,

Di

Di_p...  I don't "mind" the squats either.  They are an excellent move.  What I mean is the pain the next day, every time I try to get out of my chair at the office...HAHAHA!!

Sounds like there are lots of good things going on for everyone in the Gang!  The rainy here lately has my allergies all in a dither, and I'm not enjoying it AT ALL!!  My eyes are stinging and gunky, and my head is all stuffy, despite the pills.  Darn MOLD!!

Took my off day yesterday, today back in the routine.  Likely will bake a cake here in a few minutes that I didn't do that weekend.  Well, I did, but my oven hexed me.  Wish me better luck this time!!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to check in. I lurk a lot these days...Sometimes I don't have time to post but right now I do since I quit that dreadful job. Now I'm taking my time to pick a better job and I have time on my side so that's good, no rush. I'm learning to enjoy this time off, I would use to be anal about it and just have to have a job but now I'm learning how to enjoy it as I realize I will have to work the rest of my life unless I win the lottery. Things are going good, I'm now exercising 30 to 40 minutes a day--I am swimming and I really enjoy it. I think the key to make exercise a part of my lifestyle is to find something I enjoy and I don't enjoy going to the gym but I do enjoy swimming and walking. I would like to have a dog to walk but the place I live in doesn't allow animals. Maybe I can borrow a neighbors--I guess I would have to go introduce myself as I just moved here. 4 days ago I decided to clean up my diet mess and I'm on track 100%, I'm eating 6 times a day of clean food ...Here is a sample menu:

Breakfast: 1 cup of rolled oats, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1 tablespoon of flaxseed (good for the digestive system), 1 cup of blueberries, 1 tablespoon of raisins or cranberries

Snack: 3 egg whites and a handful of almonds

Lunch: 1 cup of spaghetti with tomato sauce and a spinach salad with eggs

Snack: 4oz of turkey, 1/2 cup of strawberries, 1/2 cup of pineapples

Dinner: 1 cup of red kidney beans, 1 ezekial tortilla, low fat cheese, 1/2 cup of brown rice, 1/2 cup of salsa

Snack: 3 egg whites, 1 piece of Ezekial toast with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and 1 tablespoon of organic jelly (yummy)

So far I'm really enjoying it and I can see it as something I can keep up for life. I'm working on getting more vegetables in and some days I do better than others. I like this plan. I know that 2BB & Molly have tried something like this before, not sure if you still are...All right, my shout outs go to you all and when I don't post remember I'm always lurking Cool

  Impressed.

Lunges... Did somebody say LUNGES...!!!!!! Surprised

They HURT me! I CAN'T! I won't! I won't! I WON'T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Surprised

* Runs, screaming wildly.......................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! * Surprised

Now, squats...? THAT'S dif'erent, lol!!! WinkLaughing

(I really did get hurt doing lunges... when they warn you to NOT allow the knee to travel past the toe-- believe 'em! Might be what I did-- crippled me in the region behind the base joint of the big toe for a good long spell!!! Can't walk without using that joint...! Tongue out)

Boots, So good to hear from you!  Like you I will be working forever, hopefully once I get my degree my career at the university will progress too and my hubby can retire at a reasonable age.  Your eating, like Dances is excellent, and your diet is so important for any weightloss.  Speaking of dogs, you could offer a dog walking service...just a thought.  I've often thought operating a doggie spa would be a fun way to make a living.

So yesterday I went for a run/walk with Allie, remember I've been favoring my achilles tendenosis...well, my right glute was tight from the spinning class earlier in the week and on my second run interval I took a hill...yep...strained my right glute.  Yikes, it's always something...maybe I should just stick to the pool.

Time to go to our nieces baby's first birthday, I bought the cutest little pink outfit and an Elmo book.  Just love babies.

Have a great saturday ladies.

Di

Have Fun!!! Laughing

Hope that strain clears up quickly! Surprised

WOW!  I am realizing that baking a "serious" cake takes a lot of time!  I decided to do 9x13, okay, no problem.  Using simple box mixes.  Believe it or not, this is how the professional cake decorators do it.  The key is in "doctoring" the mix.  Since I had yellow cake, I added orange extract.  You can taste the subtle orange.  Impressive.  Then I made chocolate ganache.  Whipped, so it is the texture of a very thick pudding... YUM!!

Then as I am doing my workout, I realize that I can't make a layer cake with a 1 cake!!  WOOPS!!  So, I ran back out, got another cake mix and made another layer.  They are both resting comfortably in the fridge waiting leveling and icing.  The butter is softening for buttercream.  I will layer, then allow to settle before icing.

We are playing golf today, so I think it will all work out.  I'll level the cakes, stack then put a light layer of icing on.  Let that sit all day on the counter.  Then the final icing and decor.  I'm thinking maybe rose roses... to match the flavor of the cake?

Anyone hungry yet???????????????????????

* EVIL woman, Overseas...!!!!!

WHY dost thou come to TORMENT ME...!!!! *  SurprisedWink

CAKE....!!! Yummmmmm........ Hungry....!!!!!! * Tongue outTongue outTongue out

I'M making about 20-24 quarts of Home-made Spaghetti!!!!!!! Laughing

LOT'S a' fresh Sweet Peppers and Onions in it... Wink

It's VERY Good, too!!! Tongue outTongue outTongue out

lol, women and food..I just had a nice plate of spaghetti 2 BB, so good!

Nice try 2bb!!!

I'm not much of a fan of spaghetti though...LOL!!  The cake is together and crumb coated.  Hubs got a sample and declared it AWESOME!!  He said it is reminiscent of one of the chocolate oranges you get at the holidays.

I tried a new recipe for buttercream.  So far, I am a fan.  I joined a cake decorating website.... and I have learned so many things!!

Is it wrong to talk about cake on a weight loss site??

NOT with a 'Life-Style,' frame of mind for dieting! Laughing

Denial ia a 'recipe' for diet-failure... and 'Life-Style-failure,' too...

It's a REAL world...!!! Plus-- with SOME people... ahem...well... they're really NICE-- Most of the time! Wink

Orange...chocolate... Buttercream... oughta' find THAT served in Heaven! Innocent

That's Funny, Boots!!! Laughing
