I sporadically take supplements. I need to get better and more consistent. When I do take supplements I typically take:
- a glucosamin+ compound for my joints. I have some shredded cartilidge in my knees so this seems like a good idea and it's one of those things that doesn't make a noticeable improvement for one or two pills but over a long period seems to be helpful.
- A multi-vitamin/multi-mineral. Just as a hmmm, I might be missing something so let's cover all the bases.
- Vitamin C when I'm sick.
- L-Lysine periodically, I have gotten a couple of cold-sores and this seems to help with prevention and getting rid of them when I do have them.

Not at all! I have to work today and tomorrow, and somehow plan out my dinner at work (if I eat there at all!).
Hmmmm.... 5 days into "Maintenance Mode" and I've lost another .4. (I'll take it!) (By the way, this was just an unofficial sneaky weigh in day!)
Starting weight: 372

We'll have lunch with Dad (three of his four kids) after church tomorrow.
Our big celebration, though, is my parents Golden Wedding Anniversary (50 !! years) which is coming up next weekend. So we're all gearing up for that. First a party on the day, then a week together in Canada with the parents, my brother & sisters, and the grandkids.

We're going to see the movie The Incredible Hulk today. Bill (my boyfriend and a father) is a HUGE comic book fan, so we always go see all the superhero movies.
For my dad, who lives in Washington, I made homemade chocolate cookies and sent them to him. I'll give him a call later. We sent Bill's dad one of those Edible Arrangements fruit bouquets.

They are having an unusual "cold spell" in Iraq, so they've only been in the low 100s the past few days -- pretty much the exact same temperatures we've had here in sizzlin' sunny California. Of course, they will soon zoom back up to their normal 115s in June, 120s in July, 130s in August ... eeeek .... where we will just stay in the "cool" low 100s all summer long. (We do get more humidity than they do, but they get sandstorms, so they "win" the Worst Weather Award. )
Speaking of "Worst Weather," please keep some friends of ours in Fon du Lac, Wisconsin in your prayers ... they (along with an elderly parent) were evacuated by boat Friday morning from their home ... the basement and first floors are under water. They were not able to take their two kitty cats with them (the cats are on the second story and the water is not expected to go higher -- so they left out LOTS of food and water and are hoping for the best). They were in a rescue center on Friday and were able to move to a hotel on Saturday (yesterday). They expect their home to be a "total loss" (along with their entire neighborhood) ... but hope at some point to salvage some of the items on the second floor.
I spent much of Saturday doing things around the house and waiting for the cable repair guy from Comcast -- it seems my daily watching of "Starship Troopers" has KILLED my cable box! (Not really, but that was Ron's theory!) Anyway, the cable guy showed up at 5 minutes to 2pm ... and replaced the box lickety-split fast. YAY! Now I can watch MORE bad cable ... but it sure felt like a wasted day! Then I braved the heat yesterday Saturday afternoon and ran a few errands ... though I must admit going to WalMart on a Saturday afternoon near payday was clearly not the brightest choice of my day, lol! Where DO all these people come from and why do they block the aisles??? Afterward I picked up some cute cards to mail Ron and then met some friends for dinner at Applebee's.
It was sooooo nice not to order off Applebee's Weight Watchers menu, I must confess. Anyway, I had french onion soup, a 7oz sirloin with french fries, and one spoonful of dessert (key lime pie!) I was helping my friends Greg and Nancy celebrate their 33rd wedding anniversary (Nancy was my matron of honor 5 years ago!) Anyway, Greg seemed pretty excited about eating his dessert, then 90% of mine, too! When I tested my blood sugars 2 hours after dinner, they were in the 115 range -- excellent and just fine after those fries! I'd eaten reasonably "clean" the rest of the day (a bit higher calories than usual, but plenty of fiber and mostly lean protein) ... so I was pleasantly surprised when I snuck onto the scale this morning (for yet another sneaky weigh-in day) and saw only a .2 increase from yesterday. Heck, I can see a 3 pound fluctuation when I am PERFECT with my eating, lol!
THINGS I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS NEXT WEEK ...
- MONDAY: A visit from Stellajo (friend from online!)
- TUESDAY: Adoption Counselor Training at Valley Animal Center
- WEDNESDAY: Lattice gets installedin backyard
- THURSDAY: One month since my DH left
- FRIDAY: Getting to see my friend Heather (new plants in yard, too)
- SATURDAY: Volunteer with Emmie's Animal Rescue
- SUNDAY: Got invited to a Tea Party with my neighbor
I'm going to call my dad and wish him a happy father's day. His birthday is on the 23rd so we tend to celebrate the two together. My real father's day gift is going to an IEEE picnic with him and helping out with whatever needs doing. It's in July so it may not be associated by anyone but me. I agreed to do it in May so when you average the two it's still June (this logic example may be why I am not an engineer).
to southern_midwife. czech republic:)
We took my Dad out to lunch yesterday and today we'll just stay in and enjoy a nice dinner.
I'm doing OK with food but not actively losing weight right now- not gaining either. When I decide to start losing, I may have to start logging again. It seems that I must over do it just enough to maintain rather than lose when I don't log. When I log I tend to be slightly more disciplined. I'm just testing the waters if maintenance and I could get use to it.
Have a great Day-Dianne

MOLLY
Well, this doesn't really count as "wish you hadn't eaten" because I'd almost certainly do it again, but it does make me feel a little guilty.
Yesterday, it just accidentally worked out that I had hardly any calories by the end of the day and had already had breakfast, lunch and dinner. I had made some brownies for my boyfriend and since I had a WHOLE BUNCH of calories left for the day, I made myself a dessert with 3 small brownies and a couple of scoops of fat free ice cream (Breyer's Double Churn vanilla - yum!). It was well within my normal calorie goals for the day - even a little low really. But it still makes me feel a little guilty just because I haven't done anything like that in such a long time!
Yes, it was very yummy. :)
What was the last thing that you ate that you wished afterward that you HADN'T eaten? (And was it yummy?)
It's funny you ask this. I have no regrets on having the 4 or 5 slices of pizza last night while studying. I wanted pizza! And yes, it was yummy. I know I shouldn't have had it, but even while eating a "bad for you" breakfast (scrambled eggs with cheese sauce, two biscuits, an eggs benedict, etc etc), I still ended up with a large defecit. The reason is that I worked for 10+ hours yesterday, burning what the calorie counter says was 2000+ calories. And I ate 2100, so with all the leftover "sedentary" time, I could have eaten up to 3000 calories before I got up to a maintenance level number.
Today's a workout day. I'm pretty excited.
Yum!
I'm thinking I have to go back to logging if I'm going to get these last 17 pounds off. I haven't lost in over a month and I really do want to reach my goal. So I guess for now I'll have to log, but it's been so freeing not to. So my new goals are as follows:
- log foods daily
- exercise 5-7 times per week
- average 1800 cals per day
For Fathers Day, we took my dad and mom out to Fuddruckers. I was in Hawaii for Mother's Day and my mom was in Las Vegas, so we didn't do anything then. We didn't see my in laws b/c they live in Arizona. Anyway, I ate a buffalo burger with mayo, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, relish, and cheese sauce. I also ate french fries with cheese sauce and ranch. It was GOO-OOOD. And I know I shouldn't have eaten it, but I don't regret it at all. Yum...

MOLLY
I just got off a long hard workday and right now I'm VERY tempted to go eat something I shouldn't. Maybe I should wait until tomorrow to answer this question. ![]()
... NO, on second thought, I will be good and resist the temptation. I promise. ![]()
So, the last thing I ate that I probably shouldn't have eaten was Long John Silvers fried fish with extra "crumbs". I just LOVE high fat fried foods. So, it was very yummy. But this was right before my joining CC. I can honestly say that I haven't cheated since then.
But give me time, I'm sure that day will come. This is only my 3rd week.
But I am trying really hard to stay on a clean diet.
