Greetings!
I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Those pictures are amazing! I especially love the slot series; you really get the feeling of the sandstone and the light is fabulous.
I don't know if you have room for one more but I'd like to join in. I came across this thread and felt a tie to Mavmom. I too lost around 90 lbs several years ago but gained and was back to the same weight before starting CC. I found CC in March and have done well on it but I really need a good support system as it getting harder to stay motivated. I am 42 - Not for very long, I turn on July 14. When I started CC I weighed 234 and now am at 208. I have had what I feel is a lot of fluid loss allowing me to loosequicker but I think that has come to an end. I had surgery in April and have not been permited to do much exercise until a few days ago. Have been sticking to around 1400 cal but that is really tough now. I had lost my appetite somewhat after surgery but it is definitely finding its way back now. I'm hoping to be able to increase the calories a little when I get back to a regular ex program so I won't feel quite so hungry. I would like to get to 148.
Jen
Welcome jkppt! There's always room for more. :D I weighed 236 lbs when I started losing weight in October and I'm now staying around 180. I also got to around 200 and stayed there for a while. I had to change things up a little. Do you walk any? Walking does alot of good. Can I ask what kind of surgery you had?
I joined the gym today!!! I'm so excited and motivated again. Maybe I can get this weight loss going again. It really felt good to get in the gym and work up a good sweat. I really missed the gym alot and I'm so glad I'm able to do some things to get a workout every day.
Thanks for the welcome. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy on April 29. Had a lot of hormonal issues which is why I think a lot of the weight I have lost was fluid. Went for my 6 week check end of last week and she said I could start some light resistance exercise if I felt up to it. (Still not all healed yet though :(
I was walking on level in the neighborhood for the past few weeks but last night I decided to give my elliptical a try and it went pretty well. As you said just changing things may help.
I set a short term goal of being under 200 for my birthday on 7/14. I hope to be there before that if possible.
Jen
Welcome to the group, Jen. Hope you meet your goal for your bday!
Great pictures Terry!
Congrats on the gym membership Tammy! Enjoy the "you" time!
The last couple of days I've gotten a lot of comments about my weight loss - its invigorating! I'm off to the gym now. I don't usually go after work because I get stressed out about the kids being on schedule with homework/showers etc., but since school is winding down I feel very relaxed about going. I plan to end the workout by relaxing in the sauna! Now thats motivating!
Glad I kept pestering you about those pictures Terry, they were fantastic. All that color! Wow!
Tammy, I am glad you love your gym but I just can't feel the love there. I keep trying but it just isn't a good fit. If I had a treadmill I would just stay home.
Glad to have you Jen. I hope that we can help you.
I haven't had anyone mention the fact that I have lost a few sizes this year, I guess no one noticed the new clothes... But there is a woman at my office that I have been cheering on, she is 62 and in the severly overweight category. She has lost over 50 lbs (in the same amount of time that I have lost mine weight). She is looking so much better, she can walk alot more now than before. She still is very heavy (over 250 still), but she seems really motivated to do something about it. I see things differantly when I think of her, I am younger and more fit and have not as far to go as her so I haven't felt bad about no one noticing my loss. I feel bad that more people at our office are not noticing her. I have had a good week so far and have lots of activities planned to keep me busy and keep my mind off eating (or so I hope). Talk to you all later!
Sandy
Omagraf - The gym isn't for everybody. I like this one cause there isn't alot of people in there at once. I don't like anyone looking at me while I'm working out! lol And some people just don't pay attention to the fact that someone is getting smaller. And sometimes other people just don't say anything even though they do notice. I went through that once when I lost weight when I was working. Noone ever said a word to me. Just don't let it hinder your efforts.
Jen - Take it slow. Don't want you to overdo the exercise. Let your body heal, then you can do all the exercise you want. :) Be careful.
I went tot he gym again today and worked on the old abs, shoulders and chest and rode the bike for 40 minutes. I'm so sore now!!! Taking tomorrow off to rest my body. It needs it. Going back on Fri and Sat though. I love how I feel after a workout.
It is cool when people notice. I lost over 30lbs before anyone even noticed, but now I seem to get a nice comment just about every day in the office. It is good motivation for sure.
Early on, I was having some problems staying motivated to work out. I hate treadmills! I ended up going to the mall everyday and walking. Now that the weather is warm, I am really into hiking. There are a couple of nice parks in the area with nature trails with lots of hills. I try to get in 3-4 miles of fast paced trail walking everyday. It is strange, but I actually look forward to it. I rarely see anyone on the trails so I put on some workout music and take off.
I don't think I am going to hit my goal of being -200 by my birthday (08/01). I am pretty sure I would have had I not taken off several weeks. As of this morning, I am down to 229 which is pretty much my lowest before I left. I just can't see dropping 29lbs in 6 weeks...especially with a vacation thrown in there....but you can bet I am going to give it my best shot. Honestly though..it doesn't really matter. I mean I have lost a sizable amount of weight already and I am happy. I will be happier at 220, 210, etc....as long as things are going in the right direction, I am not too hung up on a certain date. I mean at Christmas (270+) if you would have told me I would be 220 by my birthday, I would have been SUPER excited.
On a brighter note, I bought some jeans this week and they are a comfortable 38. I can get the 36 on, but they are a bit snug. Pretty cool since I was wearing 42 at Christmas! Definitely feeling good and the motivation is high.
Thanks for the nice words about the pictures. I love being out in nature and I really consider myself lucky to get to see these things. I am leaving a week from tomorrow to spend a week in and around the Everglades. Wildlife photography is probably my favorite. Gators, crocs, birds, snakes, etc...should be a blast! Should have no problem getting in plenty of walking!
I didn't really mind the gym, but I just couldn't get excited about it. I really prefer being outside but that isn't easy in the winter. I am happy about where I am at this point, definitely trying to get further though. Hope everyone is planning a good weekend, I am feeling stronger today and look forward to a very active weekend! I'll start our Friday off! The sick and soup diet has helped me move in the right direction again!

I'm slowly trying to lose what I gained back, but I only worked out Sunday; I was feeling really exhausted when I came home from work this week. I know that it's a self-perpetuating cycle to have enough energy to work out, but I have to get back on track again.

Finally more than .5! I'm really trying to buckle down now. Only 5 weeks till my trip!. I was hoping to lose a couple more before I go shopping for a dress for the wedding.
I did get some bad news yesterday and luckily I didn't deal with it by eating a bag of chips! My job is being relocated. I can make the commute to the new location but it will probably add about 1 hr a day to my already 3 hr a day commute. I guess I can't complain because I do have the option and I'm not losing my job but I am feeling very sorry for myself! Move isn't until next year so I have at least 6 months to win the lottery!
I will be 43 in September so I hope there is still room for me to join this group. I started with CC last summer and lost about 23 lbs. I was 211 when i started and got down to 188. I went on a cruise in October and went back up to 200. That is so discouraging. It took so much for the weight to come off and for me to let it creeeeep up on me again is disheartening. I am now down to 197, and CC is saying I should be at 148, so I will make that my goal. I have been dating a wonderful guy for the last 4 years and I think he is getting close to proposing. He doesn't care what size I am, he has seen me at my highest weight. I want to get healthy for my family as others have mentioned here. These are my stats:
CW: 197
SW: 211
GW: 148
HT: 5'8"
We can do it together! We deserve to be thin!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome "wants2bhot"...cute name! Don't we all :-)
Happy Monday. Last week I was on a bit of a high because people were starting to notice my hard work, now I have to say I'm a bit nervous about getting too "cocky" so to speak. I had lost about 30 pounds about 3 years ago and got to just a few pounds away from where I am now, somehow I lost focus then and I'm afraid thats whats going to happen now!
If this weekend is any warning - i'm in trouble! I did not eat all that well and except for one 1/2 hr bike ride with the kids, pretty much no exercise. I have to refocus for sure! Hopefully our Friday weigh in's will be the difference for me this time! I'm still about 16lbs away from my first goal.
Hi all,
Hang in there Kristine. Mondays are great for getting back on track.
Made it through another weekend. My son's birthday sleep over was a challenge. Stared with a movie (Get Smart - really funny) and movie popcorn - took a diet A&W and that kept me ok. We went to Cici's which is an all you can eat pasta/pizza place. Did pretty well sticking with salad.. and one piece of garlic bread (I love garlic bread) Came home and had a fire in the fire pit and they made s'mores. I did not let myself near them.
What amazes me is that 12 year old boys can eat and eat and stay like a stick. If we all could have that metabolism :)
Did do 30 min on the eliptical today but none for the weekend. I would like to show some loss by Friday. Hard to keep motivated when the scale does not cooperate.
Have a great day -Jen
Jen your resistance is an inspiration! Weekends are so hard!
I have to get back on track, and get these emotions under control!
Thanks everyone for the support!
Hey gang...
I hope everyone is having a great week. Mine is so-so I suppose. Hopefully I can drop a couple. Also welcome to the new folks!
I most likely will not be checking in for a week or two. I am leaving Friday morning to shoot some pics in and around the Everglades area. Also going to spend some time at the beach and in Key West with my wife!
Have a great trip Terry. We look forward to seeing your next batch of pictures!
