Here at the Going4Gold Gang it's all about sharing what your doing as an individual then sharing with the rest of the gang.
Everyone is Welcome
Spent a lot of time outdoors this afternoon and evening (30s.... brrrrr) with the doggies (so cute in their new matching fleece hoodies) .... but my blood sugar had plummeted and I had a bad case of the munchies. (And I'm PMSing, too.)
So I munched.
High fiber cereal, unsweetened vanilla almond breeze, and salmon jerky. Whole grains and lean protein. 350 calories' worth. Oh well. That still leaves me a 650 calorie deficit for the day.
(sigh) I wish I didn't feel so guilty for eating that.

It's ok, Molly! You work awful hard with all you try to watch for!!! It certainly didn't sound like junk, either!!! Lol!!! ![]()

Help me welcome michelled67, if you are still around! She just came, and I wanted her to meet you and Forks, and everybody here in the gang!!!
Michelled67, if we seem quiet tonight, don't worry, it's just the holiday, as you can see mentioned in the earlier parts of this thread if you read from the start. You have a treat in store when you meet Molly!!! Her profile is fun, her "Ranting' thread is wild and good-for-you or, at least, your 'Funny Bone!' You may want a seatbelt on your computer chair first, though! Folks have reported falling out of their chairs due to excessive laughing fits...!!! ![]()
You'll need a lot of time to read it all- folks use it to cheer up, whenever they need encouraging, by starting at the beginning and reading a bit at a time! ![]()
Danceswithforks is our tireless leader, and you'll enjoy her good sense, I'm sure. Go ahead and read it all, and you'll feel acquainted with us, once we all get back online!!! ![]()
Merry Christmas!!! Glad you're here!!! ![]()

hi michelled67.
My day has been very planned from early this morning on. I knew my family would be at our house this evening for cookies and hot chocolate so I worked in two Voortman Flax Seed Omega 3 cookies and a cup of no sugar added Swiss Miss hot chocolate. I stayed in my calorie range and still got an A for the day as far as nutrition. I am going to have another cookie before I go to bed instead of a piece of my diet pumpkin pie that I figured in.

What do you think we would be doing tonight if we weren't trying to be good...?!? ![]()
I like to add extra cocoa to diet cocoa, before adding the liquid, (water, for me), and a little real vanilla extract with a dash of cinnamon...really improves the diet taste! And... the cocoa powder and cinnamon are good for you! ![]()

(Not actually so high, with my low metabolism, according to the Nutritionist, but I'm 'bushed' when I visit my friends at the Nursing Home, and felt I'd earned a little extra above my 1200, lol!!! I might add something else, but probably won't!)
Welcome Michelle!
Thanks for the encouragement, everyone. My DH was pretty encouraging, too ... and pointed out that since I'd been out dog walking in the frost, I'd probably burned off some of those extra calories.
I feel less guilty now.... a good friend reminded me that this is LIFE, and sometimes we just have to LIVE IT, ya know?

Hi Everyone!
I've been on CC since the beginning of Nov, but haven't really stuck myself out there into a group yet. I got a wonderful message from 2beittybitty and wanted to check out this group. Wow, there are so many posts I just skipped to page 24 and decided to stick a post in about me.
I started at 208, now down to 185 (woohoo). I'm looking to get down to 130 by the beginning of September and would love to have some people to chat with about it. I'm a military wife, my husband is gone for a year and my family lives approx 3000 miles from me so I'm pretty used to having relationships with people I can't see!! lol
I am a Christian and have been saved for 10 yrs now. If it weren't for God I'd be a basket case right about now!!![]()
It's Christmas!!!
As gifts we bought our two kids Rubik's Cubes, and after 28 years of not knowing how to solve one I solved two before Christmas!!! They chose to open them for their one present to open on Christmas eve. I had to spend a couple of hours after they went to bed to figure them out but I have finally done it....wooooohooooo!!!!
Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!
Merry Christmas everybody!!! ![]()
Amazing, 4square, I couldn't if I tried for days...! ![]()

Glad you're here, tamleech!!! We'll be back here soon!!! Some folks are out of town without their computers, so they can't say hello, yet! ![]()

* goes off to hunt for coffee... yawn... *
So... what's in store for us today? Ron and I will get up early and spend some delightful time together outside in the hot tub, watching the fog, listening to chirping birdies, and watching the sunrise. Then inside for tea and quiet time, followed by breakfast and probably more snuggling. (Dogs will be played with, cats will be petted!) Lunch will be at lunchtime (steamed broccoli and a turkey sandwich with apple), then we may go for a walk in the afternoon. A friend is coming over at 4pm, with dinner around 5:00-5:30 (spicy tuna sashimi salad, roasted acorn squash, grilled asparagus, roasted red pepper hummus)... then we're watching a musical .... 7 Brides for 7 Brothers.
Yesterday (December 24) was cold and drizzly and we did a lot of running around (literally ... outside with the doggies) and in errands, and I ended up with low blood sugar and a case of the "hungries" in the afternoon, so I used my after-dinner snack calories THEN. So, I ended up with 1535 calories for the day ... over a wee bit (but it was high fiber, whole grain cereal and lean protein, so it was OK!) Dinner last night was fresh green beans, roasted butternut squash, a crisp-crunchy salad, and yummilicious ostrich burgers! I was pretty distressed about the prospect of going over my calories by about 250 ... but then just decided to forego my after-dinner, before-bedtime snack, and that kept the calorie "overage" down. As of right now, my December nutrition is right on track, calorie-wise, fiber-wise, and nutritionally ... just six more days of healthy eating for the month! (In fact, my fiber is UP over last month!)
I have to admit that my eyes and thoughts are on this upcoming weekend's weigh-in ... the last for 2007. Will I have stayed the same? Lost a little? Lost enough to dip below 300? Well, if not this next weekend -- then surely the first weekend in January, huh? I just need to keep reminding myself that I cannot control the scale ... I can only control my food and nutrition choices! Still, it will be nice to look back and see how much weight I've LOST in December ... a month where too many diets get derailed!
The eating plan for today ...
BREAKFAST
one toasted Thomas' light multigrain english muffin (100 calories)
two tablespoons of roasted red pepper hummus (64 calories)
one cup of Kashi Go Lean cereal (140 calories)

Hello and welcome, Tamleech! I'm a military wife, too!!! (Small world, huh?) My wonderful DH Ron is full-time, active duty in the Air National Guard, and returned in August from deployment to Iraq ... now we're just waiting to see when he returns. Anyway, WELCOME!!!!
We're a silly, supportive, sincere, slightly-quirky, always-rowdy group of CCers, focusing hard on nutrition and eating healthy as we each pursue our individual weight goals. (And you'll always find prayer partners here, too!) Congratulations on your weight loss to date, WOO HOO!

We are back in Ohio, taking a quick breather before heading out to SO's sister's house for holiday gathering. I will play the piano; (probably w/ SO's grandson in my lap, while he helps "Too-tah" play, he can't say his "s's" yet, LOL; nephew will chime in on the fiddle, niece on her guitar, everyone else will wipe their eyes and sing a bit out of tune. Looking forward to it.
Our trip to the edge of the Blue Ridge Mtns including much hiking, sleeping in front of the fire, and eating of good food. Oh, and much laughing and making of faces. We also did all the yard work for my mom, blew the leaves, trimmed the bushes, cut back the iris, I got rid of the multiflora rose with only a few knicks from the prickers, and then we went to church last night a 5, while dinner cooked. Turkey breast, green beans, shredded, roasted potatos, fruit salad, baked beans (it's a swedish thing), olives and pickles, and rice pudding with strawberries for dessert. The weather was fine, nearly to the 60's but with chilly mornings, and a bit of rain on Sunday.
Sounds like everyone's doing well, enjoying the social-ness and staying on-track with the calories. Nothing off-limits, but no extra sacrificing either. Hooray for all! Welcome to new G4G friends, you'll like it here even if you're a non-joining joiner like me. Ha!
I've not exceeded my 2000-calorie limit, even with all the temptation. But we've had the opportunity to be outdoors, working up an appetite with extra exercise built in.
Here's my stats for the last 7 holly-daze:
Fat - 24.7% (386 grams)
Protein - 17.6% (620 grams)
Carbohydrates - 57.8% (2,036 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0%
Other - 0.0%
Daily Calorie Intake - 1,741 cals
Daily Sodium Intake - 2,500 mg
Daily Cholesterol Intake - 144 mg
Daily Fiber Intake - 31 grams
Nutrition Grade A
Looking forward to getting back to the regular routine.
Missed you guys while I was away!

Mine is in South Korea so at least that is a little less stressful than if he was in Iraq. We are hoping that his new job here will be one that keeps him home and not away. From what he's heard he shouldn't have to leave much and probably not to the desert.
My weight loss has been relatively easy so far. I've heard the first part will usually "melt" off and now I'm down to a good 2 lbs per week. I keep my diet between 1250 and 1350 each day and attempt to keep my fat under 25,my protien at least 60 and my sodium under 2000. I eat 3 servings of fruit and 3 servings of veggies everyday as a minimum and only eat red meat once every couple of weeks. I try to stick to chicken, turkey, pork and veggie products (right now I'm a little addicted to Boca burgers w/ soy american cheese) Anything I can find that is comparable to my old foods that is yummy I want to try because I want to make these changes for life, not just to starve myself to lose and then go back to how I was. I'm looking forward to slowly raising up my calorie limits to get me to a good maintenance level as I get close to a comfortable weight for me.
From looking at other posts I'm guessing I log my percentages and stuff each day for accountability. That will be great for me! I'm excited about continuing on this thread with all of you. What a cheery bunch of people you are!
Thanks for making me so feel so welcomed!!

We do this as a reminder that it's all about HEALTH and NUTRITION (and not just about weight loss!) Plus, it's rather fun and interesting to see what everyone else is eating ... it's a geat way to share ideas so we don't get burnt out!
I like the Boca vegan burgers, by the way (when I'm having a meatless meal!)

Glad you're back!!! Your music gathering sounds fun...sigh! Good Stuff!!! ![]()
I Love the way Dances started this gang BEFORE the "DANGER ZONE!!!", don't ya'll??? It helps a lot being accountable to other like-minded folks during all the Holiday pressure! It helps me to be seriously creative in life-style changing, so I can stay good, and enjoy stuff, too!!! That begins a bunch of great "Habits" I will need to be able to maintain, later. As McDonald's says, "Lovin' it!!!" ![]()
And, as Molly said, I've tried new stuff, too. I'm stuffed with 1/2 of a wonderful acorn squash- due to Molly's adventureous spirit!!! Collard's are waiting for supper, too...yum!!! Thanks Molly, Thanks Dances...!!! ![]()
Idea... I created a 2008 Christmas gift- "By Me, To Me, With Love", lol!!!
(Borrowed from an old single friend, who had bought himself his own gift- a digital camera.)
I took a, "Christmas 2007," set of 4 pictures to compare with, "Christmas 2008!" ![]()
![]()
That will be a LOT of fun next Christmas, and fitting to our Going4Gold Gang, I believe! Looking forward to this new year- the Healthiest I've maybe ever been! ![]()
* goes off humming, "We are the Champions...," again, dreaming of goals she'll reach and KEEP in 2008... *
