Hi All,

I am not a newcomer. I have been on cc for about a year maybe longer. So far I have lost a little over 60 lbs. I gained some lost some, but been for the most part sticking to it. I work out 3 to 4 times a week now when I used to just be a potato on the couch. I feel sooo much better. Anyway what i wanted to say was WELCOME all newcomers. I really like this website, OK love it. I have tried pretty much all the big name diets, but this isn't a diet it is a life change which is how you have to look at it. You don't have to turn down the foods you like just make better choices. Like melmug said had to decline on the sub. Why? maybe you couldn't have had the giant Italian sub, but you could have had a turkey sub on wheat with all the veggies you wanted but use mustard instead of dressing or mayo, that cuts out a lot of extra fat and calories and got a small one rather than the large. Just making better choices. I don't cut myself off you cannot you will go nuts, trust me been there done that...just think about it, just takes practice and time...Good Luck to everyone!!!
Hi Everyone,

I am a newcomer. My mom found this site and thought I might like to look into. She was so right! I am 28 y/o. and am weighing in at 205 right now. I love food and i know it...it don't help that i have an underactive thyroid. Not an excuse I know lol. I have tried many diets and never really stuck to anything. I grew up thin...even modeled through high school. Got pregnant at 18 and miscarried and then due to depression, and my fast going thyroid I started to lose weight. I just recently (almost 6 monthes ago) I had my son. I gained weight after having my son, even though I breastfed.

I need all the support I can get. I'm nervous about doing this I have done  online dieting. Thanks for listening

Hey all!  Just checkin in with my 200+ crew.  I haven't been on much lately (shame on me!) and am just catching up on some threads.  It's great to see so many more people joining!  I've had a lot of success with this site and a lot of support.  Since Jan 8th I've lost 15lbs and found the inspiration to start a "Couch to 5K" running program.  And remember, we're in the 200+ club here!  So this is no small feat. :P

Welcome to all the new faces!  Hope you're finding everything you're looking for on here.  Sooo many wonderful resources, the least of which are the humans! :P
wow, lots of new people! Welcome to the club!

Hey guys, even though the weight isn't falling off of me like it was, I did lose 10 lbs last month! Yeah! Even better , I'm getting stronger and feeling better!

I just made a post in the weight forum about flabby guts, now realizing I should have made it here in the safety of my peeps. Is anyone struggling with a "mother's apron" - it's that really bad flabby and fatty abdominal overhang. Most of my body is starting to look pretty good except for that blob between my waist and my thighs. I have to buy pants 2 sizes bigger than I need just to contain it!

Has anyone here had success in getting rid of it short of a tummy tuck? Or does anyone know of any particular body shaper that works well to redistribute it so it doesn't look so bad???

to_ski_again,

I would like to know the answer to your question also.  I do hope others will reply.
I think the old fashioned girdles would lift it back up into place, but who wants to wear a girdle?

I don't know of anything that gets rid of it.  Mine is shrinking, but still a very noticeable hang.
Hi Melmug,

Count me in, I need all the support I can get.  I have no trouble going on a diet, it is sticking with it.  I do really good at first, however, the minute people start telling me how good I look I start sabotaging myself.

It is like I feel I don't deserve to look good, yet I love nice clothes, take good care of my skin, etc.

I carry a lot of baggage around from my childhood, all I ever heard while growing up was how fat I was, and it took two people to carry me; and even though I have pictures of myself as a young child that say otherwise, I am not overweight in any of these picutres, but it is like my subconcious believes the messages, and just disgards what I see with my eyes.

Does anyone else understand, or have similar issues.
I will be 25 on March 8th and started at 230 pounds as of March 1st, 2007 - a few days ago. I gained nearly 50 pounds after having my 2 daughters and joined Curves February 26th in a 12-month program. This is my first visit so it'll take time for me to get used to lurk and/or post so any private messages will be supportive. :)

I would like to be in on this club.  I weighed at the beginning of my weight loss journey 304.5lbs.  As of this posting I am down to 291.0.  I have been on and off diets for most of my adult life..I am 43 now and I am only 5'2".  Any support I can give and receive will be helpful.  I have not started exsercizing, because each time i try all of my bones and joints crack and I get really sick after that.  Any suggestions???

Have a great day!!
Hi Everyone,

Me again, I seemed to have forgotten to mention the fact that I am new to CC, that I weigh 225, and according to CC for my age, height 5' 6" and body frame I should only weigh around 139 lbs.  That is 86 lbs to loose, and CC seems to feel that I can do this by October 2008, and maybe for once in my life I can reach this goal; and who knows maybe just maybe this time I will; if I remember to take it one day at a time and not listen to those old tapes in my head that just won't shut off.

dmgreen, it looks like you are off to a good start, I can relate to the bones and joints hurting, I've been having problems with my right knew lately and have had to force myself to walk, taking small steps, walking 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the evening.  It really hurt at first but it is getting easier, just have to remember not to push it.  Walking is one of the best exercise there is for joint problems, it supplies oxygen to your bones, and keeps the joints lubricated.

Keep up the good work.  Have great Sunday.
Hi Everyone. Well so far i'm off to  a way better start then I thought. I don't own a scale (I'd drive myself batty if I did) So i only weigh myself on the weekends when i go to my parents house. And I lost 2 1/2 lbs this week...wohoooooo...I gave up soda ...which is hard for me to do....it's my only vice. don't smoke no more (non smoker for 1 year 2 months). Been slowly starting the working out.

RacyRed you can do it. I"m at 202.5 right now and they gave me until june 2 2008 to get to 139. Just try to erase those tapes that keep replaying in you head...Good luck everyone:) We can do it....

I'm wondering how many calories people are eating and your height and weight. I'm 5'6", 230 pounds and eating about 1500 calories a day but I'm not losing. I'm working exercise into my day more and more but I shoudl be seeing some weight loss right?

barabeayotte-I'm really interested to know how many cals you eat b/c we are kinda at the same spot weightwise.

Thanks! Happy Losing!
I was wondering when the urge to eat everything in sight goes away. I have been resisting temptation pretty good. But it is really hard. I even had a dream that I was eating a whole bunch of food. So does anyone know when it will get better?
Hi all--

I know I am a guy so my calorie in-take is more than a females. I take in about 2200 each day, give or take a few. Don't starve yourself your body will think it is shutting down and will hold onto the stored fat and calories. One ways that I found that really helped is eat all the time. I eat pretty much almost all day long. I have breakfast, but I am an early bird. I eat at 5 AM or so, then again when I get to the office 7:00 or so. Oatmeal usually then about 9:00-9:30 I have yogurt, about 10:30 just before lunch I have a banana or some kind of fruit. Then lunch, but it is more of a larger snack like soup, salad, tuna or something like that. Then a Slim Fast bar or something then about 1:30 another snack. Dinner about 5:00 or so, then Weight Watchers desert, or air popped popcorn no later than 7:30 PM. That seems to keep my system working and burn off calories all day. In doing this you also take care of wanting to eat everything in sight too, because you are eating almost all day...but small manageable meals or more like snacks. That way I never really feel hungry, but I also never feel stuffed and that bloated feeling of not wanting to eat ever again and yucky, you all know what I mean...
Hey Trapp and ktcourt
court, I weigh 237 down from 274, while only 5.2 feet. I eat about 1450 average cals a day, but to eat this much and lose weight I need to go to exercise several to most days a week to have appreciable weight loss. Got to love h2o aerobics!!
Trapp, I used to have intense urges and dreams of food when I was restricting too too much. When they researched persons who were voluntarily being starved, (1000 cal a day, lol),in the Keys study, one response was food obcessions and intense food dreams. You may want to consider if you might be overdoing it and setting yourself up for a binge.
Morning everyone!

I am ssooo excited! I began this journey on Jan 2, 2007.  I made my first mini goal of 25 pounds today!! (and yep, I've realized that was way too big of a first goal, lol). And my long term goal now is officially under 100 pounds...well it's 99, but hey....

I, like Stinky, try to eat several times a day, and am actually eating more food than I have in years.  I've been overweight all my life, and have constantly starved myself while getting bigger and bigger.  I had trouble believing I could eat good healthy, correct portions and not get even bigger.  But it's happening, and for the first time in my life, I can see myself living and eating this way from here on out, which is what it will take.

I'm so thankful for this site, it makes a huge difference to me. Have a GREAT day!
dmgreen,

The doctor told me that even if I did the arm exercises and sat down during the dvd's that I would still benefit from it. So thats what I do. Maybe sometimes I get a little crazy and stand up and move side to side at the same time. But it has helped me, I can't do all those leg exercises, it's too much for me right now. But I'm hoping with time I will.  You and I started out pretty much the same weight and I think we are losing at about the same rate. So if you want to talk back and forth we can. I have been looking for a wieght loss buddy. So let me know how you are doing.

Hey guys, I just joined CC this morning. I'm looking for a change. I've been overweight since i was in elementary school and have always been insecure about it.. When i went to the doctor not too long ago and was weighed, it was a big reality check for me. I didn't realize i was so heavy. I'm 5'9'', 245lbs. I don't really do so much other than daily chores, etc, so i'm sure by adding more activities into my day and eating better i should be able to kick my own ass! Haha. CC set my goal wait at 149 pounds based on my BMI, etc... 96 pounds is sort of scaring me... and i don't know how realistic that is, but i will try my best to get to that. I'm not so much worried about my goal weight, i just want to feel confident about myself, whether i'm 149lbs or 189lbs.. My goal is to be happy with myself and feel sexy for my boyfriend. :-) ... And reading other people's posts.. Oh my gosh how i'd love to feel good in a bathing suit for once in my life!! I'm totally with you guys. Good luck to everyone. <3
CONGRATULATIONS SCOTT!!!
alexadria... I am in the same boat with u. I am 5'9, but weigh 260 and am trying to get down to 148. Maybe we can help each other out and get thru this with som sanity. I have set my goals in small chunks rather than the whole amount of weight... like 10 lbs at a time. I have lost 5 lbs since starting here on the 25th of feb. So feel free to add me to ur friends list. I know we can do this.
