That's so amazing! I think I'd pee myself if I saw a 100 pound loss on the scale!
I think we'll all gladly join you in your happy dance! (but not to a David Hasselhoff song, okay?)

QUESTION OF THE DAY WEDNESDAY JUNE 11
With regards to any weight loss goal(s) you have set for yourself for the 75 Days of Summer, how will you celebrate achieving that goal??? (Or any other weight loss goal you may have set?)
MOLLY
My next significant goal will probably take me until September, when I hope to reach the weight on my drivers license
. I don't really know how I'm going to celebrate that, yet. My happy dances tend to be pretty elaborate (somersaults and all!), so I'll probably start there. There will probably be a truffle involved, too. When I get down to 200 pounds, I want to buy a new scale, make sure it gives me a lower weight, and then throw the old one out my 4th floor window (on a Sunday when the parking lot is empty, of course).
Molly congratulations. Well Earned!
I have a little whine alert:
I have lost 1 kg in 1 month. That is better than gaining. However it wasnt what I set out to do! I am letting myself go with not cooking and not working out. Yet I wont give myself a break in the guilt over not doing those things.
Long story short- I need to get down to business. I want to get to 60kg (thats 4.5kg away) well by August first I want to get close at least!
That means having a plan and sticking to it.
So: cook, log cals 5 days a week, run 3 times a week, yoga twice a week. If I yoga just once that means I have to do 2 winsor pilates sessions instead.
Now Pleaseeeee hold me to this.
Here is my shameful update: 64.5 kg (thats a 100gram gain :(
Congratulations Molly! That is an amazing accomplishment. You are a testament to the power of hard work and dedication! Take a well-deserved bow, and then maybe a nap :)
Edited to add answers to questions:
Re Restaurants:
At first, I was terrified to go out to eat and I only wanted to go to chain restaurants where they have posted nutritional information so I could be confident. Now I feel a bit more confident that there are certain things I can eat while still losing weight (since I have done so). One of the commitments I've made is to cook dinner and not go out to eat during the week, which I've pretty much kept up with. Once in a while we get Chinese take-out on a weeknight, but I always get the steamed chicken and veggies with sauce on the side.
We usually go out to dinner once on Friday and out to lunch on Saturday (which is when I have my "I can eat whatever I want" meal). At Friday dinner I have things like a vegetable and tofu stir fry at my favorite Thai restaurant with about half the rice or I get a spinach and apple salad with grilled chicken, candied walnuts and craisins with about half the dressing, or if we go to our favorite pizza place, I get the salad bar (making good choices of course :)) and we order a pizza and I eat one slice with my salad. On Saturday lunch, it's no holds barred. What I've found that's funny though is that even though I don't worry about having a deficit on Saturdays, I often do, because after my big lunch I'm usually not very hungry for dinner.
Celebrating weight loss:
You know, I really haven't come up with any one thing I want to do to celebrate meeting my goals. I wonder why I can't think of anything. Still, I imagine there will be much jumping around and whooping. I would like to buy myself a fantastic pair of expensive designer jeans. You know, the kind where they really only make small sizes. This means, if you fit into them, you are going to look great. That's not until I reach my final goal though. I need to think more about how to celebrate my summer goals.

Hmmmm, I don't know. I do know that I want SKINNY clothes! ![]()
Maybe I'll go shopping for clothes or make myself some and get my picture taken. You know, I might just ask my husband for a bike or something like a bike that's related to exercise but also pleasure. ![]()
MOLLY
I have a goal that for every 10 pounds, I buy that much more stuff in clothes (from Goodwill). For example, when I got to my 10 lb mark, I bout $10 worth of clothes. At 20 lb, I bought $20 worth of clothes. In May, I got to my 30 lb mark, and bought $30 worth of clothes.
Since then, I've had to reset my Weight Log to 171.4, and have worked down from that. Since today I am at 167.4 lb, I only have 6.0 lb to my next goal of 161.4.
I consider the above as a GREAT idea because the thinner you get, the less clothes that you own that you fit into without looking like a bag-lady (or bag-man for some of you). I like to shop at Goodwill and the Salvation Army because I don't want to spend extra money on clothes that are going to be too big for me in a month or two. In addition, I have donated about as many clothes as I've bought form the Salvation Army, so many people are a size 14 - 18 (American Sizes. Approx 40 - 48" hip, approx 38 - 45" waist) are completely covered!
I also have an intermediate goal of 164 lb. While BMI is nothing but a number to me, it would be nice to see a new BMI number. At 164 Lb, I'll be down to 29 BMI. I have other intermediate goals. But by August 5th, when I go to New York to see my godmother and extended family, I want to be down to the 150's. Ideally, it would be 155, where my "BMI" would be 27.5, my first "slightly overweight" number. But any in the 150's sounds great to me.
How totally exciting! You are a star and an inspiration to us all. 100 POUNDS gone forever - woo-hoo! Yay!
Just thrilling. I am sooo happy for you! So, isn't this your big goal for now? Now you move to maintenance for a while before you decide if you want to lose more, isn't that right?
So awesome!
Valerie
Starting weight: 170
Today's weight: 142
This week's loss: .5
Total loss: &nbs p; 28
I'm fairly disappointed to see only a half pound loss this week. I've been feeling really good, energetic and thin (relatively) all this week and I was just sure I'd have a solid loss for the week. Once again, it holds true that the more I work out, the less I lose. Am I some sort of aberration? Why does working out keep me from losing weight? Unfortunately, the cardio is what helps my blood pressure, so I have to do it anyway. It's a catch 22 - Losing weight and working out helps my blood pressure, but working out slows down my weight loss!
But, any loss is good, right? So at least I'm still on the downward slope. I can't wait to get below 140, though, so that I'll be working on that last 20 pounds....
We have a big trip to Vegas planned at the end of August and I was really hoping to be done by then. But, I'd have to average 2.2 pounds loss per week to hit that goal, and I've only averaged 1.4 per week so far, so pretty unlikely that I will. Nonetheless, I'm already thinner than I have been in probably 15 years or so, so it's all good.
Keepin' on, keepin' on!

Exactly. While I do want to lose more at some point, my body just needs a break from reduced calories for a while.... because it was getting harder and harder to lose each 1/2 pound.... and causing me more anxiety and stress to do it. So, on paper, my "maintenance" calories are 2300. Since I have an underactive thyroid, I am reducing that by 300 calories, leaving 2000. My plan for now through August 21, 2008 is to eat 2000 calories per day, rather than the 1500 I've been living on for the past 10 months. And I am staying OFF the scale until then, so as to not give myself a heart attack, lol!
Why August 22, 2008? Well, that's my one year mark. I figured that was as good a day as any to re-start things, and to reduce my calories back down to 1500. This way, I'll have dieted strictly for 10 months, then taken a 2 month break. I definitely want to lose another 25 pounds .... the only question is when I'm ready to tackle them, ya know?
MOLLY
Yippie! woot woot! Yey!
******Standing Ovation******
Molly that is wonderful! You are such an inspiration! Please don't forget about us, trying to be, little people!
I do think it is a good idea to do the maintenance thing (like I need to tell you anything). After losing about 15% of my body weight I have hit a huge and very long plateau (almost 3 months), but the plus side of it has been that although the scale has not been friendly to me (trust me, he's almost lost his life a couple of times), my clothing size has continued to decrease. It's almost as though my body needs time to adjust, regroup, situate and jiggle into place.
With regards to any weight loss goal(s) you have set for yourself for the 75 Days of Summer, how will you celebrate achieving that goal??? (Or any other weight loss goal you may have set?)
Well, and I hope I do not offend people, but when I reach my weight loss goal, I'm immediately going to put back on 3-4 lbs! Yep that's right, I'm getting a b00b job! I've always been on the very small side and to make matters worse I have a very large rib cage. Weird huh! It's funny though because I have found the more weight I lose the smaller my chest becomes, and I thought they couldn't get any smaller! So I figure that by the time I truly have lost all that weight I would need something done anyway! Now if I could just convince the insurance company that it's a necessity… I'll have to figure that one out! *snicker*
Quote: It's true, the only thing you can change is yourself and how you choose to act and react.
Restuarants: I don't go out that often, I'm much more likely to pick up a salad or wrap from Trader Joe's. But when I do go out, I like Chipotle or sushi. I pretty much eat whatever I want to when I go out as I feel that it's a treat that should be enjoyed, but I can always take leftovers home.
Rewards: I've been buying clothes (clearance and sale) all along that fit me and look pretty darn good. I don't think that I'll do anything particularly special, except maybe if I make a ton of money selling my old clothes on ebay then I might do something with that.

I'm with you! I always said it was so unfair that I could gain weight and STILL have a small chest. And like you, mine are getting even smaller as I've lost weight! Arrgh. Wish I could afford to have them done, too. Maybe someday. Just don't go toooo big, that's the mistake most people make and then it looks fake. I'm sure you'll look gorgeous!
digigirl, you might have posted the info on plaeaus before but you certainly did a good thing posting it again, as i have never seen it before - and it seems really encouraging!

MOLLY
We have a trip to Vegas planned for the end of August. My goal was to be done losing weight by 8/31, and although I doubt I will hit it because I just can't seem to lose weight very fast, I'll still have lost the vast majority of the weight (fingers crossed). I'll be working on the last 8 pounds by then if I continue at the rate I've been losing at. And since trips have to be planned and can't really be last minute (unless you have lots of money), we went ahead and planned it! It's kind of a reward AND a motivation. I want to look hot for Vegas!
Plus, I really haven't bought any new clothes during this whole thing, even though I've lost 28 pounds. I just belt 'em in! So, another reward (when I'm fully done) will be to start working on my new wardrobe. Yay!

congratulations - that is really a great thing!
I did something COOL TODAY and I had to share it.
I CAN HAVE MY SHAKE AND EAT IT TOO! (screw cake... I <3 shakes)
Today's goals were to have 200 Carbohydrates, 80 proteins, and between 30 and 40 grams of fat. Well, here were my scores.
Calories: 1448
Cal Count Grade: B+
Fat - 21.3% (34 grams)
Protein - 22.0% (80 grams)
Carbohydrates - 55.3% (200 grams)
Alcohol - 0.0%
Other - 1.4%
And I did it all, including a LARGE strawberry milkshake from Wendy's. I had to look up the grams and calories of everything on the Wendy's website, but after I plugged it in, I got exactly what I wanted with my goals for the day.

So you can keep track of what you eat - which enables you to analyze your foods and receive the following:
- Health Score of your overall diet
- Warning when you approach your daily calorie limit
- Overview of the good and bad nutrients
