We're all here to support each other. So, whether you're having a great day or a horrible day, feel free to talk about it here. Post your weight updates whenever you feel comfortable doing so. There is only one rule here: Be kind. Let's not bring each other down.
Good luck!
Edit (July 11, 2008): The group is now open for those hoping to lose 60-80lbs.
Edit (August 2, 2008): Please include how much weight you've lost since joining the group (when you post updates on your weight). I think it'll be good to keep track of this. =)
Started at 284, CW 236, 66 lbs to go 5'10" 55 yrs old, female GW 170
Started Feb 1st and have lost 48 lbs in 4 months. Still have a long way to go.
CC is awesome. It helps you make informed decisions about changing your lifestyle.
I'm not very fond of exercise, but after starting a very modest exercise regime I find I now enjoy it and have actually been able to increase the exercises, for example 4-5 miles on the bike are fun now (in the beginning I was exhausted after a 2 mile ride). Summer has started and I've started doing 30 minutes of laps in the pool. The first night after starting up again, my shoulders were really sore, but now after just a few sessions the muscle aches have eased.
Also after losing 48 lbs. my knees feel MUCH better - no pain at all most days! My right hip had also been bothering me and that pain has disappeared on about 50% of the days.
My acid reflux is gone. I have stopped snoring. And I get a great night's sleep!
I wonder what my breasts will look like after 114 lbs weight loss. I wonder if my belly skin will shrink. Anybody out there have any experience with this?
I weigh in almost everyday, but consider my Wednesday's to be my official mark. Whenever is fine for me here though.
SW:216.1
CW(today): 200.5!!!! Woohoo! almost ready to flip into the 190's! (loss of 15.6)
GW:130ish
gpm55 - I too have found my exercise to be getting better as time goes by, but I have to still watch out for my knees - I was doing too much impact and had to immobilize one for two weeks - talk about a setback!
Ok it's thursday and I weighed in this morning:
SW: 217
CW: 214.8
GW: <150
This is only my second official day on CC though so I hope to keep that going, what a good day. Can't wait to see how next thursday goes. Congrats to everyone as I'm sure you did wonderful. Keep up the good work and if you ever need motivation I'm here, just message me (IM's are on my profile) or leave me a amessage.

I'd love to join in!
After having 3 kids in 4 years I hit my highest weight ever of 243. And I'm only 5'3".
Last summer I lost weight and was down to 221. I gained about 12 or so back this winter which put me at wanting to lose 80lbs.
I've been on CC for a few months and it's been great, but I feel like I need a kick in the pants! So please feel free to form a line behind me ![]()
Starting weight was 234
Current weight is 215.
Goal weight is 150
Congrats jodiferjuniper! You've lost almost 20# so far - awesome! I find scheduling "presents" also helps with motivation. Doesn't have to be big - maybe time alone for a bit from the kids or a special hair cut, a mani/pedi (haven't had one since my wedding 7 years ago), jewelry, a dvd, you get the idea. I treat myself every 5% lost of my SW.
I'm just psyched to see another digit go down on the scale, even if it goes up the next day. It makes it more of a reality.
Today - although i already posted yesterday - I flipped into the next century! Today I weighed in at 199.7!!!!! Talk about pysched!
Today is my first day on the site, but certainly not my first day dieting. It seems that it has been a lifelong struggle. Midlife crisis...having some health problems and want to be fit and FABULOUS by 50..which happens in December.
SW - 220.7
CW - 213.
GW - 140
Age - 49
Sex - Female
Hopefully by tracking the foods I eat and the calories I burn with a lil help from my friends (you folks) I can reach my goals!! Oh yes, I'm also losing weight to help deal with a kidney transplant which I am hoping to get soon!
Kemccl, thanks for the warm welcome and congrats on entering "onederland"! I hope to meet you there soon!
infiniteheart- I haven't chosen an actual goal weight, so 130 will be great too! I just want to get rid of ALL this weight and have fun :D
It's Friday now, so my first weigh-in will be next week on Thursday..Anyone with good tips on healthy snacking? I'm looking to get sugar out of my diet :]
This may seem kind of weird to some...but it works for me. Since much of dieting is willpower and mind over matter I do things to psych out my brain.
When I get those incredible munchies...you know, the ones that won't let you alone, won't let you sleep?
I keep finely cut celery, bell pepper and carrots in a bowl in the fridge. I can much on this diced up stuff and I swear, my brain cant tell it isn't chips or popcorn. At times when I want it to have a little bite, I sprinkle or spritz with balsmaic vinegar.
For snacks, I'm a fan of:
- 1/2 c Fage 0% (Greek style yogurt 0% fat) with a tablespoon of sliced almonds (no sugar/salt/fat added). I realize some people avoid it, but I also add some Splenda in to "sweeten it". The nutritionist I saw is having me mix in a high fiber carb, so it is a blend of carb/protein. I usually use Fiber one Honey clusters - about a 1/2 ounce (roughly a 1/4 c).
- mini carrots
- a 1/2 c of low cal fruit like strawberries
Another suggestion she (the nutritionist) mentioned was crackers and a small portion of reduced cheese - like the low fat Laughing Cow triangles. I have not done that one yet. The yogurt tastes so much like a yummy treat that I am still a major fan of that one. If you have not tried Greek yogurt - it can be expensive, but the 0% tastes like whole yogurt - thick, creamy, mmmm
Wenchie58 - I like that idea - I'll have to try that one with the veggie bowl! Sounds nice and crunchy
HELP need MOTIVATION! Anyone out there who's weight is not moving? I started May 21st at 218 and lost 3 lbs within the first week. Now its just stuck there! I cant seem to loose any more. I know its not quite 2 weeks, so maybe I'm just being silly. But I'm starting to get disappointed. I'm worried if I don't see some results soon, I'm going to start relaxing on how I eat and exercise.

AGE - 38
I started cc again in March of 2008. So far I've lost 40 lbs. I keep my cals under 1800 and pretty much eat whatever I want. I am diabetic so I cut a lot of sugar out of my diet.
Goodsparks - I noticed my weight kind of goes up and down during the day, and every time I lose I stay at the same weight for a week or so. Try drinking a lot of water and eat more negative calorie foods with your regular diet. Broccoli for example is about 25 cals per serving and your body uses somewhere around 80 calories to burn it. Eating it raw is the best way to get all the nutrients.
Life is too short to be so hung up on weight. I agree some of us need to lose weight for health or whatever reason, but don't waste your life worrying. The family and friends you have love you no matter what. The weight will eventually come off. I look at it like this, I do what I want when I want, lol. If I want that bowl of ice cream, I have it, in a smaller amount than I normally would. Summertime is a time of cookouts and food gatherings. I try to get salad and raw veggies before I eat the other stuff. I even had cake the other day. Granted it was only a square ince but dang it was good. In summary what I'm trying to get across is not to worry and try to enjoy your life. There is nothing we can't do if we keep a positive outlook on life.
We are all here for the same goal, I am looking forward to getting healthy with everyone here.
wenchie58 and kenccl- excellent ideas! I'll try both :]
goodsparks - I will be around if you want to talk to someone!
Goodsparks - I think we can all relate to the dreaded scale that doesn't move. I recently took a class on nutrition and weight loss and their number one advice....stay away from the scale. We were only to weigh oursleves every 4 weeks due to the fact that our bodies fluctuate so much on a daily basis. That was soooo hard for a scale junkie like me to deal with!
I have a question for anyone who would care to answer. I generally run a activity to calorie intake deficit of 1000 to 1500 calories daily. is this too much? I am eating between 1250 and 1400 calories per day, but with my daily workout and extra walks that I am taking I am burning more. Is it true that as long as I stay above 1250- 1300 calories I won't go into starvation mode? Who would've thought losing weight could get so complicated!!

hi. i find these threads very motivating - can i join when i have 71 lbs to lose? maybe a bit more, my weight today was quite low and i was thirsty, maybe it as lots of water and i will weigh a pond or two more tomorrow.
anyways my stats
- SW (Starting Weight): 262 lbs
CW (Current Weight): 205 lbs
GW (Goal Weight): 134-140 lbs - Height: 5' 8"
- Sex: Female
- Age: 34
Thank You all for your kind words and wonderful advice.
Wenchie58- You're right. I shouldn't be weighing myself every day like I have been. It seems so logical, that our bodies do fluctuate everyday. I think I'll have to start a 12 step program for my scale addiction! hehehe.
babyboo-kate- Thanks for your support and willingness to cheer me up on my manic days!
loribrak- Wow way to go! 40lbs worked off. You are awesome! I do need to eat more greens and drink more water. Thanks for the advice.
I know I have come to the right place for support and advice. Thank you much to all who responded to my cry.
*hugs*
Hi there! First post here, and I'm all over this.
I guess an 80lb loss is my ideal goal, but there are other milestones I'd be very, very happy with.
- SW: 212 lbs
- CW: 201 lbs
- GW: 130 lbs (but I'll be very pleased at 150 as well)
- Height: 5' 4"
- Age: 34
- Gender: Female
And also a Canadian!
I'm hoping to lose the weight in six months since we'd like to start a family... I'm trying to eat healthy and have recently taken up running (starting slow) but I find my challenge is that I'm hungry All The Time. All those veggies, yogurt and fruit still add up.
