| ♥"A Healthy Baby & Me" Pregnancy Group♥ | ||
| May 09 2008 18:49 | ||
Since there are a few of us who are interested in staying healthy and active during our pregnancy, I thought it would be great to start a "pregnancy group". I know that for many of us, it is easy to get caught up in the pregnancy and sometimes we do not always worry about what kind of food we are eating or if we are active. This group will serve as a daily, weekly, or whenever you want check-in to keep us all motivated to remain healthy and active throughout our pregnancies. Feel free to discuss whatever else you may want as well. Here are some helpful links to check out as well: |

Hi Ladies, Can I join you? I just found out I was preggers a few days ago (about 4wks). I am so excited, but also overwhelmed! I live in Alberta, but my family is in the midwest of the USA and my husbands family is 14 hours away, so I feel sort of alone, and clueless.
I have lost about 2 pounds this week because the very thought of food made me sick. Suddenly it went away this afternoon. I read this can be a bad sign, has anyone experienced this. Since I am already overweight I really want to focus on eating enough to make the baby as healthy as possible but not to gain any unnessicary weight. It really has been hard for me, because I had it planned to start next year when I was at my goal weight. But the best things in like are sometimes a surprise right :) |

The hubs was oh-so nice to go and get me a snow-cone that I have been craving for about a week now. :) It is so yummy! The little one got one too but he doesn't like it because it keeps melting. :p Vanessa ~ I do not remember my first pregnancy going by this quickly. But I was not nearly as busy as I am now. :p I'm glad that your cramps went away fairly quickly! I do not think that there is way to be completely ready for delivery & labor. Yay for not having to work on Saturday! :) Cortneymarie ~ Welcome and congrats on your pregnancy! We told my immediate family right away. I waited until about 9 weeks to tell a few people at work but haven't told the rest. They'll find out when I can't hide it anymore. ;) My nauseau will last about 2-3 days and then go away for about a week and then repeat. I hadn't heard of it being a bad sign before?! Have you made your first doctor's appointment yet? I would definitely write down all and any questions or concerns you may have that way you do not forget to bring any up. |

hi all! i've just found out i'm preg two days ago, and will be 6weeks on monday (i think). this preg is actually unexpected and unplanned. in fact, i have been trying to lose weight since the beginning of this year and have lost 16lbs and was planning to lose another 16lbs by august! nevertheless, everything has sunk in already and we're now getting used to the idea of having another one (we have a 3yr old daughter) and we're getting super excited too! i just hope i won't gain too much weight! i suppose i'll just have to continue what i have been doing the past couple of months, whcih is eating sensibly and healthily and exercising, but upping my calorie intake to 2000 or so (i'm 5'5", 156.5lbs). |

Welcome cortney and mcnlloyd!!!!!!! and congrats on starting your new adventure!
this little one is kicking up a storm today!! i love the way she moves around in there. It's a feeling that never gets old and still surprises me every time. She's getting bigger- someone at work said I was all belly (and some boobs) but I'm gonna take that as a compliment becuase I'm really trying to watch! had the strangest breakfast today, but healthy nonetheless- FiberOne (of course) raw green peppers and OJ w/ CA and Vit. D. I've been craving peppers lately- how strange! Last night I made dinner for my famil and it was DELISH! I made meatballs and suace in the crock pot (I got a new one and never used it, and it was my parents so I could experiment). I tried the Fortified penne w/ calcium and fiber and I recommend to ALL- the texture was very good and it was yummy. I like whole wheat pasta as well, but DH doesn't care for it. Of course the chocolate cake I made was yummy too; but I didn't eat tooooo much of that :) so poll question.........Does anyone's heel hurt at the end of the day? Mine do so bad I can't stand up. It goes away by the morning, and my feet aren't swollen; but my heels feel like there are spikes in them!! What kind of odd aches and pains do people get? I start my child birth class this week on Wed. I'm 31 weeks now and feel great! have an amazing day everyone! |

Congrats Mcnlloyd!!! Vanessa ~ I would take that as a compliment also. :) That is a strange breakfast. :p I had an egg white, sausage and swiss cheese omelet with fresh strawberries and bananas on the side. Yum! I don't recall having any heel problems last pregnancy and not any so far this pregnancy but I did feel like I was having "growing pains" throughout my whole body last pregnancy and occasionally now. |

Hi. Can I join? I meant to join a long time ago. I've been getting really tired lately. Saturday my BG and I slept all day and when it was time for us to get up and go to my apartment as usual, I could hardly get myself up. I mean I cannot remember when I've been that exhausted. All I did was work a 3 hour shift from 9-12 and then I went to get an oil change and I fell asleep there too. I'm still have some cramping and I hope it goes away soon. It hurts pretty bad for a minute or two and then it stops. I swear I already feel like I have a bump or maybe I'm eating too much. And OMG if I pee one more time during the night I'm going to cut my freakin bladder out!!! I cannot get any sleep for peeing every hour on the hour. I'll be back with more gripes later!! :) |

Vanessa, I get heel pain like that from time to time, but it hasn't happened during pregnancy. I usually sleep on my back, and I've noticed that if I sleep on my back night after night, my heels hurt. Since I've been trying to sleep on my side now, I haven't had any problems. Of course, I think my problem is just from my sleep position, and I'm assuming you're not sleeping on your back now, either. :)
Nenewa, I felt like I lived in the bathroom in the beginning. LOL! It'll get better....until closer to the end of your pregnancy when the baby is taking up your entire uterus and dancing on your bladder. :) |

Oh my. It is way too hot outside! I am not going to like being pregnant in the summertime!!! I was extremely exhausted the first few weeks, Nenewa. I started getting more energy around the 9th week but it's starting to fade again (and I am 11 weeks along). Where are your cramps at? Some of the cramping may just be your uterus expanding. Cecily, since this is your second pregnancy also, are you noticing that this pregnancy is easier or harder than your first? I thought it was going to be harder but I am finding it a lot easier, which surprises me. Not only do I have more energy and less sickness but the aches and pains are not nearly as bad. I told my husband and he told me not to jinx myself since I still have a long ways to go. So true! |

| Actually, this one is pretty much the same as the last. I never had morning sickness with either, and the fatigue is about the same. The only thing I've noticed a difference in is the number of headaches I've had. I'm a migraine sufferer, but with my son, I only had 2 the entire pregnancy. It seems like this time I have chronic headaches (most have been non-migraine). I was wondering if it has anything to do with this baby being a girl? | ||

| Oh, and I forgot to mention, I also had a lot of cramps in the beginning. I just chalked it up to my uterus expanding, and the crampy feeling went away before the end of the first trimester. | ||

I was a migraine sufferer too- and I was hoping that they wouldn't come back when I was pregnant! They didn't which I am grateful for; but I have to say; the foot thing is horrible when I'm tired and have to get off my feet. The pain in my heels is terrible!! I don't take anything for it; I just lay down.
Sleeping is starting to become an issue- but you raise a point cecily....While it is true that I don't sleep on my back (the baby falls back onto my spine and I get nerve tingles all over, in addition to not being good for baby)- but sometimes I'll prop myself up on my back - not so much laying flat down on it; but almost like half way up as opposed to the "breakfast in bed position" when you're fully sitting up in bed. does that count as being on your back when you are half way up instead of lying completely down on your back? Also; if i have to turn over; which I need to do; I have to be awake becuase it's not easy to roll over to the other side. Why is it bad to sleep on your right side? it's so much more comfy that way; but I try very hard to stay on my left side as much as possible. I never got cramps in the beginning; but the one thing I experience was strange breakouts on my back. And side stictches when I would walk to fast- like I did on the treadmill- a side sticker! They are starting to come back now if I walk too fast- like this morning; on my way to the train! |

I would like to join too. I am 12 weeks and this is my second pregnancy. I've been very tired but never got sick, but I wasn't sick with my first either. I am just now starting to outgrow some of my jeans so I guess I'll have to go shopping soon. I'm probably similar to others in that I didn't think I would get pregnant so quickly. My 1st took 2.5 years to get pregnant with and only about 5 months with this pregnancy. I was also hoping to loose a bit more weight first, but I have been being careful to not go too overboard on the cravings. I am planning to stay more active this pregnancy, I do not want to gain 50 lbs this time. |

Cecily ~ I am having headaches this time around but I contribute it to the fact that I have a 3yo. :p Welcome Amanda! |

Hehe! Yep, toddlers are probably the culprit. :) But who knows? Maybe it does have something to do with the gender? I was convinced from the start that I was having a girl because of the headaches. Maybe you're having one too. :) Now I'm really anxious to find out. LOL!
Vanessa, maybe it is your sleep position. I think I must dig my heels into the bed when I lay on my back. Another thing I noticed that I do is I tend to cross my legs at the ankle when I lay down. Usually the heel of the leg bearing all the weight is the one that hurts. Do you think you might be doing this too? I wasn't sure if it was bad to sleep on your right side or not, but I found this when I googled it. The article says sleeping on your right side may cause pressure to your kidneys. Still, I think I've heard it's safe to sleep on either side, but left is prefered. Honestly, I can't sleep on my left side anymore. I slept that way through my entire first pregnancy, and now I just can't fall asleep on my left side. I even told my husband back then that I never wanted to lay on my left side again after the baby was born. :P I usually fall asleep on my right side at night, but lately I keep waking because I roll onto my back and I get short of breath. |

Most everyone (including myself) think we are having a girl so who knows. :) I have a hard time sleeping on my left side as well. |

HI everyone.....well, after a scary weekend of spotting, my husband and I went to the midwife today. She used a doppler instead of doing a sonogram, and I swear it took her a good 4 full minutes before she could find the heartbeat. Talk about the icing on the stress cake!!!!!
However, she found it, and it was super strong. She assured me that 30% of pregnancies experience spotting. We checked my progesterone levels, which could be responsible for it all. I will find out the results tomorrow--that will determine wether or not I have to go on a supplement.
I FEEL SO RELIEVED!!!! Needless to say, I took a long nap today! Again, I'm so glad too have this site to talk to friends!! |

Morning Ladies!!! Le_cabinet ~ I am so glad that you were able to hear the heartbeat. I have low progesterone and I am currently on progesterone supplements. I should be able to discontinue them after next week (the placenta takes over in the 12th week) after my doctor's appointment. |

Morning!
Ms. Rainbow...did you have any side effects from the supplements? Also has anyone suffered from pregnancy restless leg syndrome??? I think I am, and it drove me BONKERS last night!!!! Have a great day! |
