140/130 club
Anyone in this grouping looking to drop from 140 to 130's. We can all use support. Today I am focusing on all the food groups. Exercise would be good, but I won't be able to since I am working from 9 to 10:30. A Super long day. I hope I can stay focused, when I pass the fast food chaines on my travels today.
I want to join!!
I'm 5'5 and 140.5 and a US size 8 as of 7/10/06.
My first goal is 135- with an ultimate goal of 125-ish (i keep dropping my goal lower as i lose weight!) but really i'd be pretty happy anywhere in 120-130 lbs range.
I actually gave myself a break from calorie counting while the world cup games were on (needed beer, pizza, munchies) and funnily enough i dropped a pound after plateauing for a while-so mabye the shake up was what i needed. It's encouraging!
My thing is exercise- i NEED to be more consistent. I see results and then i get lazy and slack off because i get too comfortable where i am.
The problem is- i dont look too horrible at this weight (im in a healthy range) so i dont have as much drive as i did a few months back when i felt really disgusting. It's not until i see myself naked or try on clothes at a store and realize that *sigh* i do need to lose more and tone up if i want to be in GREAT shape not just average to ok. And i really, really do want to be in great shape. I want to look amazing in and out of clothes and rock a bikini again!!
Hey Liz, that?s awful. Did you hear about the young woman in NYC who took a picture of the pervert beating off in front of her on a subway train? She posted his photo on the internet warning other women. She started an entire web site without really meaning to. Hope you can find a way to get rid of the jerk fast.
Hello newmum and rahana316 of course you can join (that is until you get to 129 then I'll say, go girl go and you can join or start the 120s club).

hey all!
I actually did all right at my mum's party...chose lean-meat turkey and wheat bread over the egg salad sandwiches, and then had a bit of an indulgence for dessert because somebody made these heavenly peanut butter brownies. But I managed to only have 1! I was proud!
Got out and played some tennis yesterday, but its so blasted hot around here (110 degrees) that I only stayed out for 45 mins. Must find new ways to beat the heat while exercising.
Weigh-in at dr.'s office: 136.5. goin' down! :)
stay strong everybody!

Thanks lovinlife and congrad, I'm doing pretty well myself. It seems I've finally got the hang of everything.
What are you doing differently that is helping you?

I'm so depressed today! I'm back up to 143.4 today! How??? I've been eating 1500 most days, and only up to 1700 (maintenance) other days and have been working out a few times a week.
What am I doing wrong? I don't think that it's muscle...cause all my measurements are exactly the same as when I started all this. I just don't understand what the problem is - it's been a month and a half and I'm basically right where I started. I feel like all of the work I've done and all of the discipline I've had is for nothing.
Maybe I should reduce my cals a couple hundred? What do you guys think???

Phew! Had terrible nightmares last night. I faced my fears with that guy and was, um, more blunt with him yesterday. I hate getting angry -- I feel like it shows weakness and lack of control -- and I really hated that he got to me so much. But, um, I did get flustered, and I got my point across. He's going to see a therapist today to work out some....things. I just feel completely haunted by him, though, and it's really unnerving.
songchild, I didn't hear about that story. :-\ Blech. Yucky. I'm proud of myself for establishing boundaries, though. :) A good test of my assertiveness!
lovinlife, only 1 peanut butter brownie?! I am WAY impressed. Chocolate/sweets is my trigger food, and I can't wait for the day that I can have one and say, "YEAH! I had ONE!" It'll happen.
timbergrove, I think my changes came as milestones. I first started my diet focusing mostly on calories, and just being honest about what I was eating in general. As the weeks passed, I got more focused on getting enough fiber, then keeping my sodium low, and now it's all about the right ratios and getting "A" days! I also exercise more than I used to, and drink about 128 oz. of water a day. :) How about you?
carastar, hang in there!!! 143.4 is NOT a big fluctuation. What's your workout like? Are you drinking enough water? It may very well be a case of water retention. And watch that sodium! Keep your chin up, and remember that weight is always temporary. :)
Yesterday was an "A" day, but I don't know if I ate enough. I had just about 1400 calories, and worked out...um...twice. I was feeling SO stressed, so instead of eating chocolate and getting an endorphin boost, I decided to have a second workout. So my morning workout was: light yoga, 30 minutes on the arc trainer, and 15 minutes on the stationary bike. Evening workout was: 30 minutes on the elliptical, 15 minutes of weight lifting (back/arms). I felt soooo much better, especially because I didn't give in to temptation!
I think I'm going to take a day off from working out today, since I've already done 6 out of 7 days...perhaps take a trip to the library, grocery store, and, ooh, TARGET! Yay.
Have an awesome day!

Liz- I was *hoping* it was water weight from not drinking enough water over the weekend (on weekdays I drink a minimum of 80 oz.) and was hoping that my weight would drop back down today. I'm holding on to a tiny shred of hope still that it'll go down tomorrow. Why must it be so complicated! Arg!
As far as working out goes, I usually go for a 2 mile walk at lunch (about 35 minutes) and then in the evening I do 20-30 minutes on the elliptical (or walk another 2 miles if all the machines are being used) and 10-15 minutes of calisthetics.
And great job standing up to that creep! That's really awesome. I'm so unconfrontational and shy...I don't think I would've had the nerve to do it! And you TOTALLY deserve a day off from working out! Do something to spoil yourself! :)
Lovinlife- I totally feel your pain with it being too hot outside to exercise. I make myself take a walk at lunch even though it's usually around 100 degrees and I feel disgusting when I get back to the office. I'm really looking forward to November when it'll hopefully cool off here in So Cal. And seriously, great job on only having 1 brownie! I think I wouldn't have been able to stop!
Newmum- Welcome!

wow Liz, way to go! I totally admire how you stand up for yourself. wish i could do the same...
and Carastar, November can't come soon enough for me either! :)

Great Liz! Now, you have to see if the jerk really leaves you alone. Getting angry, to me, isn?t a sign of lack of control, some guys are so ignorant that it?s the only way they?ll hear you. If he continues, go to the next step (whatever that is).
I?ve never stayed with a program this long. Just keeping at it is keeping me fit. Because I try to do Orbitrek everyday; I?ve become less stressed and like dominos. Less stress = less hanging out in the kitchen.

gaaaaa! I'm up 2 lbs overnight, and I haven't done anything different! And I'm leaving on vacation tomorrow!!! may I freak out now? because I think I already have
lovinlife, I?ve heard that when your stressed (leaving for vacation tomorrow) makes you physically weigh more. Try not to worry about it if you?re doing everything right. I don?t weigh myself more than once a week exactly for this reason. It freaks me out when the scale doesn?t show all of my good efforts. When away, just make the better choice when dinning and I?m hoping the best for you.
I want to join too!!!
I'm 5'5 140 and it seems like I am always in that range....I would love to be 120.... but I am feeling crappy about my weight! I am a size 6 so I guess not to bad.... Is it just me or are those last 20 lbs almost impossible to loose? I took up running (for the very first time) and stopped smoking (i know i know...nasty)... But it is really slow going. The only times I have been able to get below 130 was doing atkins...I can't do that and jog...so I'm feeling a little hopeless. I'm eating 1500 calories a day.... I have the no carb thing down pat! But the whole healthy life style slow weight loss thing...I can't seem to figure out! Can anyone offer some good advice?

Welcome miranda!!!
lovinlife, I gain weight before and after I travel. Seriously. It's SO annoying, like getting a pimple on prom night. Vicious cycle.
Thanks for the support with the silly boy...so far, it's been good! He hasn't stalked me at the Y and I haven't heard from him either! Yay.
Speaking of the YMCA, I worked out for 40 minutes on the elliptical today at a higher level than I usually do. Then I did 15 minutes on the bike, also at a higher level. I'm finding it's getting harder and harder to get my heart rate up. :( But! I also realized, wait a minute, I'm not needing to lose as much weight, and my heart's in much better shape! So that's a good sign. :) Did some yoga, also, but not as much as usual. No weights today.
Afterwards, I went tanning. And THEN! I went and bought this video game for GameCube that I've reeeally been wanting. I kept telling myself, "Once you get to 135 pounds, you can buy it. You'll only have 5 pounds to go, and you should treat yourself."
Well, I hit 135 a few days ago. And I was going to buy the game...but I didn't. My friend asked me why I didn't buy it, if I was saving up for something...and I realized no...so today I bought it! And it's a lot of fun so far. (Paper Mario and the Thousand-Year Door, in case you're wondering.)
As for calories today, I'm feeling really munchy. Maybe because I woke up earlier. But today's supposed to be one of my lower-calorie days (I tend to zig-zag my calories, but only mildly), so...urgh. I'm hoping I can make it through without cheating. I probably should have done my lower-calorie day yesterday, when I didn't work out...oh well, tomorrow will be 100 calories more. :)
Hope everyone had a wonderful day! Remember to take some time for yourself. Put on some lotion. Spend a lot of time cooking something for yourself. Buy a video game! :-P

Hi miranda, Welcome, the only words of wisdom I have for you is to stay with the program no matter what. Maybe take any questions about weight and calories to the Forum of Weight Loss section in calorie-count. There, you have a lot more experienced members to help you out in detail.
Great Liz, What a relief!
I too am doing pretty well. I hope to weigh 145 this Saturdat maybe it will be 144. I've really been faithful with the water, workouts and food control!!!
Keep lovinlife, lovinlife.

Hey all, I'm new here but this is right where I'm at. It's driving me crazy though because I've always been in the 120s, then I hurt myself snowboarding a couple years ago, got stressed out working on my thesis at school, and wham, when I finally had the guts to try the scale it was something like 156. That was a kind of bad day for me... Anyway, I am down to 146 and trying to get back to 120, but first 10 pounds first, right? So I'm excited that I lost 10 and of course, right back eating everything I shouldn't eat. Doesn't help that I got really sick last week and haven't been at the gym either. Finally started yoga again on Tuesday, which was nice, and I try to do 45 minutes of cardio and weights every other day, but I keep getting stuck. I don't know, do you guys get like this? Like some days you can really FEEL the fire and motivation to keep doing it, and some days it's more like screw it, who cares. I kinda feel like I'm best at losing weight when I'm really angry with myself, but when I get over it, I kinda stop caring.... advice? Similiar experiences?
Congratulations lizzle! That so awesome! Keep up the awesome work!
Welcome miranda and xoxo_marie!
Hope you have a fabulous vacation lovinlife!
As for me, I'm stoked cause I'm back down to 142.6 today! Hurray! I somehow keep going from 141 to 145 every week and it's driving me nuts! Hopefully this time I can keep going down!
Have a great day everyone!

Welcome, xoxo_marie! You're in the right place to lose the weight. :) I do yoga, too, and it's soooooooo good.
Finally, carastar!! Did you do anything differently? I had a few weeks like that...soo annoying...but I had been traveling, and I think a lot of it was travel stress (irregularity, water retention). But it was STILL so annoying because even when I was home and back on track, the scale begged to differ. Thank goodness that's over.
WELL! Today was my official weigh-in...and it came out to 134.4!!! Wowzers! It felt so good putting that in the weight log and seeing my chart go, zooooooom way down. 4.4 pounds to go! But really I'd be happy with anything between 130 and 135. My body fat percentage has dropped, as well. I'm officially at an even 19%!
You know, you'd think those figures would motivate me more, but somehow I don't quite feel like working out so hard today. I'm going to shoot for 45 minutes of some sort of cardio, and then I think I need to work on my legs. I haven't done that since last week. :-\ I've been focusing more on torso and arms.
I'm eating a little more today, because, well...I can. Hahaha. My mom invited me to a baseball game tonight with some of her co-workers at the last minute, but I decided not to go since it's so hot, and I think my mom's co-worker's daughter wants to go more than I do. Plus, I have plans with my mom tomorrow, so I think it will be better to spend time with her there. PLUS, they're going out for Chinese food for dinner. Sodium central! No thanks.
On a side note, things are better with Matthew. I think he's settled down and gotten his reality check. He doesn't seem quite as consumed, but that's just my speculation. And these past two nights I have slept SO WELL. Also, my ex-boyfriend text messaged me this morning...??? Seeing if I wanted to come over this weekend?? No, thanks.
Okay, drink your water, everybody! Keep movin', but don't forget to enjoy every moment!

Thanks Lizzle! Pretty much all I did differently was increase my water intake (from minimum of 80 oz to minimum of 95 oz) and I did drop my cals from 1500 to 1300 (or a little more depending on my work outs). Not much change...but seems to be working. Hopefully it'll keep working.
That's amazing that you're under 135! Great job! That's got to feel so good! What weight did you start at? I can't imagine getting into the 130's. I'll be freaked out! I can't wait! :P
Also, how do you know your body fat percentage? I'd really like to find out what mine is and keep track of it. Do you have those caliper thingies or what?
Have a good easy-ish workout!
