| This group is my effort to get support from everyone and get everyone that needs suppoort to help each other. So everyone thats in this boat thats around the 200s and is aiming to get down to the mid 100s (135-155) or less. Monday morning will be the group's official weigh in so that we can talk about progress and give support if people are having problems and not losing as much as they would like. | ||

I am maintaining...maybe dropping a little. I lot 3 pounds the first couple of days...regained over the weekend and have relost them. I am praying for a drop of at least another pound! My diet has been...ok. keeping a 500-800 deficit most days. I am following the work out routine recommended by the program I am using. It starts us with 4 days a week...I will stick with that for 1 more week as I learn it and then move to the 5 days. I was hoping for a quicker loss in the beginning to jump start me and make me feel good about it all, but that isn't happening. I have a baby shower this weekend too...I usually don't like cake but I LOVE the one I ordered for the shower...help me! it is a yummy white cake with strawberry mousse filling and cream cheese frosting... Do you ever envy the people on the Biggest Looser who can stop everything and just concentrate on themselves and get help loosing weight? It is much harder in real life! |

I have been keeping a deficit of about 1000, it seems to be working for me. Go ahead and have a piece of the cake! It sounds really yummy!! Just make sure you cut back elsewhere, or do an extra long workout. That seems to work for me, I make up for it by working out extra hard knowing I will get to treat myself. Do you know how much our sodium intake daily is supposed to be? I am trying to find it, but so far do not see it. I think mine is high. And yes, it would be nice to be able to quit our jobs and devote 6 hours to working out with a personal trainer :( |

Okay, you are right. I found 2400-2500 suggested. I need some good food ideas to eat when I get home from my class. Had a salad for lunch. Hubby and the kids are having McDonalds.....Ugh.... |

| Jeanus, are we doing a weekly weigh in? Got anything swirling in your mind to maybe kick this up a couple notches? | ||

Hey count me in, I am quite a bit older, but it's not about age its about achieving goals, giving and recieving support. I love this site, started in January at 210 and have kicked off a whopping 17lbs! So how does this group dynamic work? I'm adding you as a friend, we can do this, I just know it. |

Yeah I think we should do a weekly Weigh in how every Monday mornings? Then everyone can talk about their progress every Monday evening and hwo they are doing throughout the week, and it will give me some time to get back on the wagon again with everyone else (not to make it all about me or anything if thats how it sounded). How does taht sound to everyone? Monday morning weigh in and update? |

Mind if I join in? 5'7" female, 47 years old -- I started my new healthy lifestyle back in August 2006 at 399 pounds (okay.... 400 pounds). I'm now down to 206 pounds and feel like a completely different person ready to kick things up a bit now that I'm so much closer to my goal weight of 145. I've managed to lose my weight strictly through good nutrition and exercise. Of course, 75% of my success is due to a good 'you can do it' attitude. But that doesn't mean I couldn't use a little motivation and nudging every now and then. Six pounds from breaking that 200 barrier and literally losing half my starting weight! Woo hoo!!!!

| Hi Jeanus You see my scale is the worst thing to destroy all the motivation I have. And trust me motivation is not something I'm running out of. I also stopped smoking last week. I'm 40 y-old, to be honest I didn't want to know my weight, I stopped looking at 200lbs,last summer. When I started dieting in January I didn't know how much I was at. I have been exercising alot.(2-3 hours a day, cardio and weight). I do my exercise at home but twice I went to the community center and those two times I was curious so I got on the scale. WOW very discouraging. I lost 8 inches from my waist, my bra is loose I have to buy a new one (very encouraging). The first time I weight myself at the center I was at 200lbs, 3 weeks later I was at 196lbs. So I don't want to know anymore. That really discouraged me. I would really like to join your group but I won't have facts on my weight. The computer is giving me a goal of 115Lbs. That won't happen that's the weight I was at 10 y-old. But like you I'm aiming for 135Lbs. Seems more realistic for me. Good luck to all of us, even if luck has nothing to do with that.:-)) | ||

Had a bad day today, first stood on scale and I have gained a pound, then I stupidly decided to have a club sanwich and fries for lunch this came to 960 calories, so i'm gonna have to be really good for the rest of the day. |

| I'm in. I've lost 50lbs so far and need to loose 50+more. My goal was to loose 100lbs and get to 146lb. I hit 196lbs briefly this week and now back up to 198lbs today. BUT that was on my flakey analog scale that fluctuates +-2-4lbs each weigh in, I sort of weigh 5x in a row and average. SOoo. thinking I need a reward, yesterday I bought a new analog scales and it weight consistently exactly the same, to the decimal which is good but it is a fair bit higher. It says this am 204.5lbs. I guess I'm going to log based on the new scale, bummer. I still know that I did acomplish loosing many dress sizes and aprox almost 50lbs since last August. I will enjoy a new group to loose the next 50 or so! Good Luck all. | ||

Good morning! Well, I am frustratated today as well. Was so excited on Wed morning when I weighed in at 194, that was the lowest I'd seen the scale in a long time. Well yesterday I weighed in at 199!! Today at 198. Stupid scale. Today will be tough. I'm going to have my weight watchers meal for lunch (does anyone else eat those? I know they are so high in sodium, so I try to drink a lot of water). Tonight is game night with our friends, so I'm sure my friend will make lots of goodies for dinner. Ugh. And tomorrow my inlaws are coming to take us out to lunch. I wish they'd decide on a place so I can scope out a menu and decide on something decent. Monday weigh-ins sound good for me too. (I'm in Iowa by the way.) |

Another thing I just thought of.... Could my weight "gain" in the past couple days be due to me gaining muscle from my weight training/cardio/ab workouts? If so, how do I get rid of the flabby fat on my belly that is on top of the muscle? I can feel my stomach getting firm under the layer of fat. Same with my arms, I can feel them getting more firm under the layer of flabbiness on my underarms. And my legs, I know my calf muscles and lower legs are getting tighter, but what about the fat on my thighs? How do I get rid of the fat?? I have no problem with muscle but I don't want to "bulk up" by any means. I just to be at a healthier weight. Anyone? |

Original Post by deko4: I keep reading that 'fat' is a matter of losing the weight while working out to keep up the muscle and toning. They say spot reducing is a myth and you just have to generally reduce until you get the right body fat mix to show your muscles. |

Good morning! I would love to join your group if I can. It sounds perfect for me! I'm 24 and started the year at 242. I was out with friends during the Christmas season and saw how awful the pictures came out! Isnt that the worst? I started my kick-in-the-pants-get-to-it-and-get-healthy time then, but it didnt officially hit until after the New Year. I joined the site about a week ago at 237. I checked Thursday and I was 233. I was so happy! I am on a mission to lose 65lbs. I so look forward to breaking under the 200 mark. That will be a celebration. I turn 25 (quarter of a century, here I come!) in September and would like to be under 190 by then. I know I can do this! My freshman year of college, I gained more than the regular 15 and was at 230. Within a year or so, I was down to 160, and kept it off for a long time. The time has come for me to step up to the plate and take on a more serious look into my life and my eating habits, and it starts now! P.S. I think it was Kae who said something about the Biggest Loser. That show is my addiction! I wish I could have the same opportunity and go away and just focus on my health like they did! |
