I had the best group last year. We emailed each other with our food plan for the next day, talked about events that might cause a problem and how we could make it easier to get threw, and things going on in our lives. We have become very close and all had good success.
We made it to our goals and now I want to go down 10 more pounds and then learn how to maintain that weight. Now I need a new group to keep me accountable and make weight loss more enjoyable.
I'm 5'6" and 146 pounds. I am going on vacation on March 26th and would like to be at goal.
Hi there,
Count me in. This will be my first on-line experience with weight loss. Just found the calorie counter on About.com and I was thrilled that there was some place to track calories (as I've realized that less is more, and the only way to weight loss) and makes it so EASY.
<> My goal is to lose, once again, the same 20 pounds I've been struggling with all my life. Keeping it off once and for all would be the ultimate goal, in the end.
<> I'm 42 years old with a 9 and 4 year old and have definitely noticed the increasing my body has to dropping weight again; age, yo-yo dieting, and poor choices, sometimes, as everything to do with it. I work-out 4-5x/wk and am fond of saying, that for all the running, swimming, stair climbing, and weight lifting I should be lighter; yeah, I know, I know...muscle weighs more than fat.
<> Last year I did the Atkins thing and lost 20 but promptly gained it back. I definitely need more protein but as a way of life, not a diet. I've really worked on my addiction to weighing myself, incessantly, and not giving myself a hard time for being heavier than I like to be; trying to grant personal permission for being human, eh?
I am 180 lbs and would like to be 160 lbs. by May 12th. That works out to be 1.5 lbs/wk. @ 15 weeks.
How does this work from here?
I've never joined a group before, but I really think I need to.
I'm 21, and in high school, I was quite large. It didn't help that I'm 4'11". I refused to own a scale or get a physical (I *really* didn't want to know what I weighed), but I was a size 12. Since then, I've lost seven sizes and at least 25 pounds (since I caved in and bought a scale), and it's that last 15 that I just can't shake!!!
I always think of some excuse not to go to the gym (it's too early/late in the day, it'll be crowded, etc) or to eat just one more bad food (I need the energy to stay awake and study, I need to eat more this morning since I've got a night class) - you get the idea. I am my own worst enemy.
It's so discouraging! And I am determined to lose it before I graduate college this May!
I would love to join!
I have a horrible habit of eating late at night and not first think in the morning. I also have a bad habit of eating fast food or campus food.
I am a huge carb junkie also!
I am 5'2 and 130 and would like to lose 10 lbs
Original Post by tears:You weigh 118 pounds and want to lose 10-15 more!!!! Are you kidding me? You must be a stick now......Why so skinny?
Me?
What dieting style is everyone using? I found that the Core weight watchers plan is pretty much the same as the YOU diet plan. When I stick close to them I lose the weight easy and don't have many cravings. So that is what I am going to stick with for these remaining 10.
For breakfast I eat either Double Fiber Toast by Oroweat with Adams All Natural Peanut Butter or cooked Steel Oats with ff milk, fistful of raisins, and splenda or 100% Bran Flakes with bananas and ff milk
Lunch is either Healthy Choice Country Veg. soup, homemade soup, or Wendy's Small Chili
Dinner varies but is always made up of lean meats, low on carb items, and I stuff as many veggies into it as possible.
Snacks: reduced fat string cheese, Pink Lady Apples, a fistful of nuts, whole wheat crackers, 90 calorie Granola bars, carrot sticks
I follow the WW Core program - I gave up most processed foods (when I can but heck, they are so convenient!), my problem is not healthy eating, I think I do...my problem is portion control.
I never have that 'feeling full' sensation, so if I make something good (like a black bean chili), I just can't stop eating...and eating...and eating! I too am a carb junkie, I can't buy baked goods like fresh bread, cookies...I just plow through them until they're gone!
Yesterday, my first day back on track went well...until I remembered I had a half bag of Multigran taco chips (too addicting). Well, I ate most of those until I said my new mantra, "Bathing suit in public"! It's really encouraging to hear of your struggles...I know I'm not alone!
I'm with you...I think portion control is one of my main downfalls, that and late night snacking. I get so hungry around 8p.m. I've been tring to satisfy the cravings with popcorn and water. I also have a passion for mexican food, Chips and Salsa, YUM!
This week I'm going to try and eat more veggies and fruits.....meatless soup is also good fillers.
I'm in on the weigh in on Mon. Thanks ladies
Do people feel full with the Lean Cuisine dinners or other brands? I don't feel like the are enough and they aren't really that low in calories and fat. I get more bang for my calorie when I make home cooked meals. I use beans a lot because they really feel you up and are really good for you.
I need some help. I'm really unhappy with how my body is shaped, and I kinda thought that losing weight and toning up would really help with that. But, I've lost ten pounds and I'm within 15 pounds of my goal and I look completely the same. ( I lost ten before I joined, and they came from nowhere I guess, 'cause I still barely fit in my pants.)
All of my motivation was coming from the hope that if I could get my weight down and worked exercise into my daily lifestyle I'd finally be able to live with the way I look. My biggest issue is with my thighs and stomach. All my motivation has been for my thighs: thighs I can wear a bathing suit in, thighs that don't chafe when I walk, thighs that don't squish into each other when I stand with my knees together. My thighs look the same, exactly the same.
Now with this group I'm probably going to get most of the way there by the end of March and I don't know if I can keep at it if in the end all my body is going to do is finish burning off my breasts and leave me with my thunder thighs. I'm really worried that no matter what I do I'll never be happy with the way I look. What can I do? I'm doing cardio and use weights to try and tone every muscle in my legs but I'm afraid if I do anything more I'll start bulking up instead of losing mass. Am I a lost cause? Is there anything I can do to lose from my thighs? Does anyone with the same issue know if these next ten will make a difference?
Woops, I totally forgot about this group.
Been on a rampage lately adding groups.
So my biggest challenge although I am sure this is an old topic. Is Wednesdays lunch! At my work the kids leave early 12 oclock (school). And we order pizza. So today I had 2 slices instead of one, I couldn't help it since we didn't have salad or anything from the day before to eat on the side to fill me up. Oh well.
We also had a huge snow storm today so I couldn't do my walk, or get to the mall to do my walk.
And Missmichelle and Kelly27 I feel you with the fat on the stomach and thighs. That's what I am working on. It isn't wishful thinking, do lots of ab workouts and other workouts that work everything. I have lost half an inch in around a month, so it's slow but it will happen.
As for thighs, do lots of leg exercises! AND WALK WALK WALK! :) :)
I know I got the extra flab on my tummy from beer. So I cut that out :(
I'm right there with you ladies!!
Like Michelle, I'm really petite and people are shocked when they hear how much I weigh. At my height (4'11"), people always think, well, I look skinny at her weight, so she must be crazy to want to lose weight - but it's about height! 118 at 4'11" looks a whole lot different at 118 at 5'7".
And I can remember the day when the knees of my jeans would wear out before the thigh did! Oh, how I miss the days my thighs didn't rub together like a cricket.
And at this point - "bulking up" isn't too bad since muscle burns more calories than fat does - the added muscle increases your calories-burned-in-a-day, so more muscle makes it easier to lose weight. Gaining muscle helps you lose weight.
I'm right around your weight and can dead-lift 150 pounds with my legs, and they don't look all amazon-woman. Legs can handle lifting a lot of weight before they start looking creepy.
I was up in the 140's with huge thighs, down to 103 with great thighs (not perfect, but pretty good if I do say so myself) and now I'm back on the way up. So that's why I'm here. Squishing those last 15 before I find myself back at 140 going "How'd this happen?"
I guess the point is, no, you are not a lost cause. Remembering how I looked for those three weeks I maintained my goal weight is what keeps me going.
The worst thing is you can't lose weight in just one place (thighs, not chest, right?). You lose weight all over. I remember when I did a thousand crunches, ate fried chicken every night, and wondered why I didn't have a flat stomach . . . Sigh. If only it was that easy.
So, I'm still working for it. It's hard, it's painful, it's annoying, and it's soooo worth it. Don't get discouraged (myself included)!
