100+ Pounds to Lose---we can do it!! Monday weigh ins. (start 1/7/08) ellinj0206
  Jan 01 2008 21:38

Hey Everyone,

Well, here is it, a new challenge for those looking to lose 100+ pounds.  I would like for everyone who is a first time poster to give a little introduction of themselves (include height, weight, age and anything else you would like)!

I'm hoping that this challenge can not only look at how we're doing in terms of numbers, but serve as a way to motivate eachother.  If you had an extremely challenging week, let us know.  If you found an awesome exercise or healthy snack food, let us know.  If you have anything, good or bad, that helped (or hurt) your weight loss (and overall health for the week), let us know!!

I'm figuring the weekly template can be something like:

Starting weight/date: XXXXX lbs XXXXXX (for me, 298 lbs 12/18/07)

Weight last weight in: XXXXXX lbs

Weight this week: XXXXXX lbs

and then list challenges, good, bad, etc. afterwards.

I would love to say I would do points and keep a tally, but honestly, I know it will be tough to keep up with everyone's TERRIFIC progress!! Hopefully we can all take a look at this and celebrate everyone's successes together.

Our first weigh in will be January 7, 2008.  Feel free to join whenever you like and give your introduction :-)

Let's do this together!!!

:-)

Stopping in because I probably won't be online until Sunday night...

Well today was my first strict day of my new diet plan...  Slimfasts for breakfast and lunch, and getting chinese with the boyfriend for dinner.  It went really well, except that around 10:30 in the morning and 4:30 in the afternoon I started getting hunger pains (I drank the SlimFasts at 8 and 1).  This will be okay later on because I plan on normally having some low-cal snacks with me, I just haven't gotten around to going to the grocery store yet.

Have a great weekend everyone and see you for weigh-ins on Monday!

Crap! My daughter in law sent over my favorite cookies tonight since I didn't get any for xmas and I ate 3! I was doing good today. Alittle behind in my water today. NO more cookies! God, cookies , popcorn will I ever be able to  say NO? I passed up everything at school today they had our only to come home and give in.  Hope all of you are doing well.
#45 ellinj0206 Jan 05 2008 01:08

Gypsie,

You can do it!  Say no!!  Are you able to maybe cut back on a few calories tomorrow and eat a cookie as a reward (almost balancing it out without adding too many calories or fat?)?

I was NOT feeling like cooking tonight and was SOOOO tempted to get pizza together.  I really thought about it and figured I have been trying hard ALL week, and decided to make the low fat turkey chili I was planning on making.  Man, it was tough, but I feel good for doing it!!

Erica,

WOOHOO!  Congratulations, girl!!  You've lost over 1% of what you want to!!  You're getting there!!

I would like to join too!

My name is Katie, I'm 31, and have been overweight as long as I can remember. I was ther chubby kid in a family that was always fighting to get my brothers to gain weight. My youngest brother had CF, which causes problems with absorbtion so he had to eat about 5000 calories a day. Our fridge was always filled with the highest calorie foods you could find to tempt him to eat more. Unfortunately, I was the one who ate more. To top it off, any time anyone in the house would start eating healthier or just eat less, he would stop eating altogether and say that if I  was going to starve myself to death then he would too. So I've been carring around alot of baggage regarding food for a long time, and need to find a healthier way to live.

I've had a few false starts before, I do really well for about 3 or 4 months, lose 30 or 40 pounds then gain it all back and more. Last week I found myself at my highest weight ever, 273.8, and it really shook me up. So I need to do this for me!

My Highest Weight 273.8 on 12/29/2007

Start Weight 273.0 on 12/31

Goal 145

I've joined a gym, and gotten rid of all the high calorie goodies in the house, (ok, not all but almost all) and am ready to start fresh!

Hi All!  What a great group!!  Can I join, too??  :)

I started on CC last year at 287 pounds (5'7") and had way more than 100 pounds to go.  I got down 70+ pounds and gained some back and am now at 221.  My ultimate goal is to be 140-150, which is only 70-80 pounds from where I am now but is 137-147 from my starting weight.

I'm fighting now to get back on the wagon (I started on New Year's), to avoid unhealthy foods that tempt me (those durn chips and sweets!!), and start regular exercise again (3x a week seems like 3x too many, but I know I'll feel better in the long run if I do it).

Oh, and I'm 35 and live in the midwest with my fiance and adorable cat.  :D

It is sooo hard to get out of a rut of not exercising!  I was forced out b/c of health issues, and I find that if I do the stationary bike or wlk or something right when I get home from work it's a good thing. Not that I am always so consistent, lol.  But at least I've got one good week under my belt! I'm trying to be consistent every weekday, and one weekend day.  One day of leisure!!!!

My scale is messed up so have to go buy a new one by Monday or I'm going to weigh 15 LESS than I really do which would be great if it were true. I adjusted it but not going to deal with it. I should be starting P.T. soon for the leg I  broken ,6 mo of inactively has killed me. P.T should help me get around better and able to exercise.

Good job pattikins with the exercising!

Thanks for the note Ellinjo
#51 jessie4200 Jan 05 2008 19:43

Hi,

My name is Jessie, I'm 27, and I would like to lose 112. I have never been this heavy in my life. I had a baby 7 months ago and just have not been able to lose the weight, in fact I gained an extra 20 pounds!! I want to do this to be healthier for my daugther and be able to play with her and not be hindered by all the weight!! Also I worry about dying young with such an unhealthy BMI. And I want to be sexy and attractive for my husband, though he is great and loves me anyway.

It is going to be a long hard road but I am at the point where I have to motivation to do it. I am creeping up on 300 pounds and that scares the hell out of me. As a large framed girl at 180 I feel sexy, healthy and good so that is where I would like to get.

Starting weight/date: 292 lbs 1/1/2008

Goal:180 lbs

My struggle is going to be eating healthy on a low budget, working full time, and keeping up with a 7 month old, while still feeding my Husband a "regular manly meal". Which will also give me less time to work out but I hope to do my Slim in 6 video at least 3 times a week.

#52 ellinj0206 Jan 05 2008 21:37

Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to do a little check in.  I felt awesome today.  Finally got my butt back to the gym.  First workout was today.  Besides the weight stuff, work has been INSANE and I have been stressing and just constantly high strung...basically I Just can't wind down!  Well, hit the gym and I'm feeling MUCH MUCH better.  It's amazing what the exercise does!!

There's an AWESOME gym near me and they had a special for the New Year.  $99.00 for the year.  No strings attached, no extra fees, etc.  After the year it goes to $34.99 a month.  Still pretty reasonable to me.  The price is basically like going out to dinner (not even) once a month.

:-)

PS Not sure if anyone here is interested in trying Yoga.  There is a GREAT videotape called Big Yoga for us gals with a little more junk in the trunk! Hahaha.  The website is www.bigyogaonline.com and you can buy the tape there.  I have been happy with it, and the instructor is...gasp.....a bigger girl like we are!!!

Starting weight/date: 225 lbs  5/1/07

Weight today: 177 lbs

Age: 30

I need support. I starting losing weight this summer, but have hit somewhat of a "PLATEAU". I would like to get down to atleast 150, but 125 would be perfect. I just want to be healthy. I have 2 kids 10 and 12 who walk, ride bikes, workout with me sometimes. I just want to be on this earth much longer than I would be being "fat". So, I'm here.. I'm willing to weigh in and check in every Monday and I'm hoping that with ya'll help and support I can do this. Looking forward to it. THANKS AHEAD OF TIME...

Hi all! Just checking in and saying hello! this week has been a little rough for me. I've stuck to my calories, and worked out a couple times, but I get discouraged when the scale doesn't show it. I'm also getting a head cold. Hopefully the scale bounces back down by Monday....

Thanks El for starting this forum! It feels nice to have some people that are at the same place as me! (I sure don't see those people at the gym when I'm there...)

writestuff - congrats on the weight loss already! you can keep it going!

jessie - I understand the creeping up to almost 300....it was scary seeing the real numbers....

Together we will all do this! Weigh in is in two days! Can't wait to see everyone's progress!

Wanted to add this....

Just put this together and it was soooo good!

Boneless skinless chicken breast

1/4 c Mozzarella cheese

portabella mushrooms (however many you want!)

Cook the chicken and melt the cheese over it. Cover with mushrooms.

Also...

Baked potato with 2 slices turkey  bacon and

1/4 c Cottage cheese (put it on the potato in place of sour cream!)

It was really yummy! And 512 calories!!!

Another snack I love is a Root beer float. Use diet Root beer and low cal (100 cal per 1/2 cup) vanilla ice cream! Love it!

danielle, that sounds yummy!

funny story: tonight, I'm making "healthy" pizza using homemade, low-fat/high fiber crust, all sorts of veggies like mushrooms, onions, spinach, artichokes, and peppers, no-salt tomato sauce and dried herbs from my garden, a tiny bit of olive oil and low-fat mozzerella, and I swear it smells like heaven!  :D

Two years ago, I'd have turned up my nose (albeit a heavier nose back then) and run for a "heavy on the meat and double cheese" deep-dish or pan pizza the nearest papa johns, california pizza kitchen, or unos.  Now, I am in love with healthy pizza.  LOL!  It is filling, not greasy, and I get my fiber and vitamins in with all the wonderful toppings.  Go figure!

For those who are just starting out, please know that you CAN do this!  Even your tastes will change over time.  I promise!!  :)

I'm so glad to have found this thread!  Everyone seems so motivated and friendly!  :D

Hello everyone, I am new to the site just found it about 10 minutes ago so I am really looking forward to meeting new people and having people to talk to about my weight loss sruggles and sucesses. I have been sick on and off for the past 2 years and during that time I ate the wrong foods while in the bed mostly all day. So I am feeling better and has starting leaving the house but now I can't fit (not even a little bit) any of my clothes. So I will go on my first walk tomorrow and start a new way of eating. Wish me luck! and Good luck to all of you!

That recipe actually looks pretty good.  I think my fiance would probably like that.  He likes Chicken Cordon Bleu.

Thanks for sharing.

Yummy!
