Wow, the mini goals are a great idea...I have had to think. And, it's a little scary, because it's a COMMITMENT. So, here goes...getting under 200 will be a real milestone for me and I will do it by Halloween. 7+ weeks, 7+ pounds, realistic.
#42 go4gold Sep 09 2007 05:25
undo, should I put in "below 200"?  work for you?
#43 candycane02 Sep 09 2007 09:37

I love the mini challenge idea!  A little friendly competition always makes you work harder!

The whole when to weigh in thing- I'm personally trying to wait a month to weigh myself this first month because I always get into the habit of weighing myself everytime I go in the bathroom and so I"m trying to break that and just concentrate on what I eat, not how much I'm loosing.  If everyone else wants to update once a week though I have no problem with it and I can do it, not a big deal.

#44 count-it-07 Sep 09 2007 16:28

Hi. Thanks for starting this. I was interested in the other one, but it's closed, so good for you for being a pioneer and starting a new one.

  1. Starting Weight (& day joined):  256.9   Sept. 9, 2007
  2. Highest Weight EVER:           ;       282.4   Sept. 2002
  3. Mini-Goals: 1st Goal Weight:       250      Oct. 10, 2007
  4. ULTIMATE Goal Weight:           ;     154      June 29, 2008
  5. Plan:  I track what I eat. Nothing is off limits, because when I make food off limits I am judging myself. So, I don't do that. I do look at calorie content for how much enjoyment/nutrition I will get from eating something. Walking on my treadmill for a minimum of 30 minutes a day, stretching and weight lifting some days. Mainly my focus in on my eating right now.

Oh, I also pay close attention to my thoughts, and if I have negative ones I quickly change them to positive thoughts about my life, body, relationships, work, etc. That way my head knows where to take me.

Good luck everyone!!

Lazy Sunday for me ~ woo hoo :)

Have everyone updated!

I'm not sure about an actual weight loss competition or tracking weights each week.  There are weeks when I zoom high from PMS and don't get near the scale ~ lol :)

But I do like the idea of a formal check in day to say I'm still here and had good/bad week???  And of course, if you met a weight goal for the week.

I actually hope we have an active chat with people talking every day/every few days... but realy don't want people to feel like it's an obligation or pressure.

What I mean is, I think we each need to go at our own pace and do what works for us.  I wouldn't want any one to feel pressured and quit.  I'm hoping we're all in this for the long haul!!!

But, maybe we can do mini challenges, like try a new veggie, or add in an extra workout, discuss certain topics, or _________?  I'm not so creative, but we'll figure it out.   We can start next week or so.

Right now "I'm Listening" ~ as Frasier Crane would say.  Tell us what you think ;)

Hey, new friends!

I'm here and I'm having a CRAP DAY.  There, I said it.

Go4gold:  Is this what you mean?  :-o)

Last day of a pay period for me (I am paid on production) and my back is against a wall (as usual), I'm sweating my paycheck, haven't done what I needed.  I am a HUGE stress-response overeater/junk eater.  I might as well just go ahead and designate the last day of every pay period, "Awww, to heck with it.  I'm going to *beep* it all up today anydamnway."  To top it all off, the scale hasn't moved for me in 3 weeks OF BEING GOOD.  The words "in a mood" do not quite describe my current state of being.

WOOHOO!! Way to break a new support group in.  That's what I'm here for.  :-)  Please send flowers instead of chocolates.

Sorry, guys.  One of those days for me. :-(

((jdb)) Way to Break in a Support Group!!!  Woot!!

I'm sorry you're having a bad day!  You sound "healthy" food deprived ;)

Whew!  :::wipes off brow::: Glad I'm not the only one!!!

Confesses:  Late Last night (about bedtime), I wiped out a 500 calorie deficit and ate an extra 100 - 200 cals over what I burned. OMG!!!  that will make me GAIN weight!!!  I don't know what comes over me??? (sobs) I should have just put myself to bed. grrrr!!!

Oh & me too!!!  I'm almost 3 weeks of being good, and the scale hasn't budged for days & days.  But I'm headed into PMS and expect it to zoom up with water weight :\  rats~n~frats!!!  I think I need to hide the blasted scale.

Is anyone else having a hard time navigating this "group" all the posts run and together and I'm not easily following this, I love the idea of a group but I am wanting something more "board" like so I actually made one and would like to invite any of you who are having a hard time following this or if you'd like to use both to come join my board.

I'm sure I'm not allowed to post a link, even though I'm not making any money so I put it in my profile if anyone is interested

Please know this is NOT to take away from Calorie count it's just something in additon. I plan to still keep tracking my food/exercise etc here I just want something that's easier for me to follow..

 HUGS!

Krystie

yes, I hope we can be real here.  truthful. honest.

it does not help if we lie to ourselves, or each other.

been there, done that.  I'm still fat.

Hi krysties4, try signing into the classic calorie-count forum.  It looks more like oldstyle board.  www.calorie-count.com

WOW! I never knew there was a differnce! Much easier to navigate through.

Thanks that a big help!

the new calorie count Plus seems to be real new.  How did you find it?  I found the old site when I googled french bread and started like 2 days on the old boards before there were links everywhere to the new site.  I kind of like some about both best, so I switch between :)

Hello buddies and fellow healthy eaters!

I am having a "darn-sick-of-vegetables day" .... and I am not sure I really care. It is officially Day 19 of my diet, and something just snapped this morning when I opened the refrigerator and saw shelves full of spinach, brussell sprouts, broccoli, tomatoes, radishes and mushrooms. I just couldn't do it. Nope. Nope. Nope. Not gonna do it. (whine whine whine whine)

Breakfast for me was some light whole wheat bread, toasted and spritzed with ICBINB spray, and then splashed with sugar free maple syrup. (I pretended it was waffles or pancakes.) I also added two Gardenburger vegetarian "sausage patties" to go with that..... and it really was pretty yummy for about 300 calories. Lunch was spinach-corn chips (150 calories for 23 chips), 50 calories of fat free cheese (melted), about 100 calories of lean ham, and 40 calories or so of chunky salsa... about 315 calories, total.  Of course, the food analyzer has only given me a B+ for all of this so far .... and I am sure it is because of the astonishing lack of fresh veggies/fiber.

I have been having a HARD time in the evenings after dinner .... for YEARS that has been my prime "munch time" ... when I would ruin an otherwise fairly healthy day with an astonishing array of unhealthy, high fat foods. So, my wonderful DH suggested that I make a LIST of healthy snacks that wouldn't ruin my diet .... and then to choose something off the list. (I have posted the list in my journal earlier this week.) It really is helping keep me on track .... and even if I have TWO things off the list, I am still doing pretty well (all things considered.)

My new favorite evening snack (forgive me if I've mentioned this before) .... a cup of fresh raspberries, and 2 tablespoons of light whipped topping (Cool Whip light or that spray light whipped cream).... 64 calories for the berries, 20 calories for the  whipped topping. What a delightful treat.  I have also been known to make a huge bowl of jello using 5 of those little sugar free jello cups, (10 x 5 = 50 calories), add some light whipped topping ... and have a fun treat for just 70 calories. For those of you with a night time sweet tooth -- you might try these .... or (another favorite of mine) 15 calorie sugar free popsicles. Heck, have FOUR of them!!!!

CHALLENGE FOR THIS UPCOMING WEEK .... DRINK YOUR WATER! (every day) However much water you normally drink, make a concerted effort to drink more often, and just a little bit more. Your skin will thank you. Your body will thank you. You will be happy and hydrated.

_______________

=^..^=  MOLLY (did you drink your water today?)

#59 go4gold Sep 09 2007 22:14
oooh, munchies!!!  yummers!!!

((molly)) I'm just on day 18!!!  but I know what you mean.  I've had the same breakfast 17 days in a row, and today, I just could NOT do it!!!

But i've been avoiding veggies like the plague, so, I'm headed out to veggie shop.  Your list actually sounded yummy, and I want some real fresh veggies before winter sets in and it's back to frozen!  We are lucky to have a farmer's market here until Oct.  Headed out soon....  See you all tomorrow :)
#60 ajjciir Sep 10 2007 01:35

I love the Farmer's market!!!  Although I'm with you Molly on getting sick of all the veggies.  I have days like that too.  Right now I'm getting sick of zucchini and squash - was so excited to have it fresh - trying new recipes, etc.  Now, blech - and I sliced and sealed two large zucchinis for the freezer!  I also still have half a summer squash in the refrigerator and a bowl of pasta salad with it in!  Now fruit on the other hand - Yummy!  I have to limit myself to 2-3 servings a day though.  We are planning on apple picking soon.  I might try to make my own natural applesauce to freeze for winter.  Anyone can or prep foods for the freezer?  I borrowed my mother's sealer saver thing and did fresh picked corn and the zucchini.  Loved it - makes me want my own.  Anyway, I want to try my hand at canning some fresh fruits and veggies as well.  Just don't know where to start!

I've had a fair weekend.  Managed to stay in my calorie range even with lunch at a Chinese buffet yesterday (including ice cream), and a family picnic today.  Of course I couldn't eat much the rest of the weekend!  LOL!!!

I like the idea of mini challenges - can't think of any unique ones though!

Hope you all have a great week!
