I want to start a club for those of us who have a lot of pounds to lose.  Anyone interested?

You know, I think I almost started this thread... ;)

I'm at 208 right now, and have been yoyoing a bit since October when I joined C-C.  I started at 212 then (carrying about 2-3 lbs of water weight now, been eating out too much, etc., during the holidays).

I've lost a little weight overall, though, and stopped gaining! That in itself is a good thing (tm).

Oh, I'm 29, 5'9-1/2" and aiming for 170 by next Christmas.  If I feel I need to lose more after that then I'll reassess then. :)

Faerykat, I know what you mean... measurements, clothes size and fitness (how you feel) have to be taken into account too!  I feel much healthier now at 200+ than I did when I first hit 175 because I'm actually exercising now. :)
Hi everyone, this is my first post, i'm new here, but I too have alot of weight to go, and love this web site....started at 328lbs....so count me in melmug....
Good luck everyone on losing that weight.  It can definitely be done.  When I started my diet earlier this year I was at 441 and am currently down to 273 (male, 6'0, large frame build).  I want to get to 215 (maybe lower) so I've got a few more pounds to lose.  But, if I can lose it anyone can!  Keep at it!
Hi!I'm 35 years old and tired of the current state of myself. My wife and I have our first child on the way (a little boy!) and I guess I really started thinking about things I didn't quite consider before like I want to be around for this kiddo and I want to be a good role model and a whole bunch of other things...a reality check of sorts.

Back in high school I ran cross country track, wrestled, swam competitively and over the years since then I've just kept packing on a little here a little there until now at a whopping 315 lbs I'm tired of my own excuses and procrastination.

Just reading through your posts...you are all already an inspiration. That said, I definitely want in.
Am 18 years old male I have started this week, my weight is 290, I got alot to lose lol. But I do alot of weight lefting and body building so I really need to lose 50 lbs. atleast thats they amount of extra fat I think i have lol. So count me in for the Club :)
47 - 5'10" here. Started at 266 lbs on 12/17. I am at 258 now with a goal of 200 by July.

This site truly was a great find. I record every single thing I eat and stay under 1500 calories a day. Its working so far.

fatdoc, congratulations and enjoy your vacation. Thanks for your advice on frozen veggies. I will give them a try again, I have found in the past that they either taste funny or were rubbery. I guess it depends on the brand. Do you have any favorites? This site is amazing, I have come to realize i am not meeting my calorie goal on most days. I eat one large meal because I am hungry from skipping breakfast. After the large meal, I am too full for dinner. I have lost 3 pounds this week due to meeting my calorie goal and spreading my meals throughout the day.

Count me in! I'm starting out fresh again for the 1st. This year will be different, my Husband wants to lose 40 pounds.I want to lose about 120 pounds. It will be a lot easier with him and I on the same page.
He's always been very supportive, but there is always that thing that I'm trying to lose and he's not, so there is always a different set of rules if you will. Sorry to babble on. I have a tendency to be long winded at times.
I look forward to chatting with everyone. Have a Happy New Year!

I would like to join the club. I am fairly new here and this is my first post. I started at the end of October at 228lbs. I now weigh 215. I am 5' 10 and 42 years old. My goal is 165-at least for now. I may decide to go lower when I reach that goal. This site has been a wonderful tool for me.
Count me in as well.  I started 9/9/06 at 234 and I'm 5'5.  Today I was 202 (hoping to be under 200 by the new year) and fell short of my goal, but I'm happy I didn't gain over the holidays.  I will be 49 the end of January, so I have a year to get to my ultimate goal of 134, and be fabulous at 50.  I can do it!  I can do it!  I CAN DO IT!!!!  :)
Hey gbrown34, thanks for the encouragement. I can use it when this honeymoon gets old. I got on the scale today and was the same weight as I was last week even with the controlled eating and exercising. This could have provoked a freak out, but I remembered that I want to go slow and that I have exercised about an hour most days this week. I think the gain of muscle weight will offset the fat loss . I had also has 32 oz of H20 an few minutes before. I think I will just weigh once a month so I don't get too overanxious.

About the frozen veggies. My favorites are from Trader Joe's. But, getting there requires a major time investment for me and I know that they are only beginning to become national. I usually go for the veggie combinations for stirfry, spinach, and sugar snap peas. I typically use frozens for cooked entrees such as spincah lasagne or stir fries. I eat frozen peaches as is.
Count me in. I have been hanging around here for awhile, but I haven't been very serious about my weight loss. It has been hard, but I am frustrated and tired of the weight. Now that it is a new year I have decided to rededicate myself to a healthy lifestyle. I am 5'7" and 235lbs.

And Faux, I have considered the lapband surgery, too. I talked to a local doctor's office and did some internet research. Then I realized that the time it will take to get insurance to approve such a procedure I could be half way to my goal and I have to make the lifestyle changes anyway. So, here I am.
Hi, I'm new to the site. My name is Vicky. It just so happens that I've signed in on New Years Eve. I don't usually do the resolution thing but tommorow is as good as any day. I never had a weight problem until my 40's was always on the tiny side 105lbs. Now I'm up to 217lbs. , a few years ago I got back down to 159lb. but within a year was going back up. I want to lose some weight this year. I turn 50 yrs. this spring and would be happy if I just got back into a size 12 comfortably.  My knees need surgery if I don't do something soon, back problems, high bp , and sugar boarder line. I don't know what other kind of wake up call I need. I stopped smoking aprox 7 years ago and replaced with eating I guess. Was healthier smoking than I am now. Look forward to talking with all of you and best wishes for the new year. I start counting cals. tomorrow and trying that water thing. I know I don't drink enough of it.
here we go again - another year and at least 60 lbs to lose. (starting at 266lbs) Determined this time as i am fed up with feeling tired and aching!  Any UK dieters (as well as all you other lovlies) with the same battle - I would love to hear from you.

Be strong

Bexster
Bexter, you made me smile :)

I have a question for all of you...  I read some of the initial info that hk posted, and he stated a deficit of 500-800/day should be the goal.  Can we have a higher deficit goal initially?  Considering that I use about 3000cal a day on a racquetball or swimming day, I thought it was ok to eat about 1600-1800 cal a day.  I know, as the weight comes off, I'll need less and less each day.  But, for now, is it ok?

Thanks!  Kelly
I'm 49 male and 321 lbs...and 6 ft....father of four, and married for 30yrs..my goal is 220....I know I can do it, I did Weigh Down a couple of years ago and did well, but fell off the wagon...my wife did really well, and has kept the  weight off....so i'm glad  I found this site, its great...I"m sure glad the holidays are over, i've been on vacation for two weeks, and need to get back to work, and get into my routine....I haven't posted much, but read all yours and it inspires me...thanks
I need to reply to myself... for clarification purposes... my goal is to be about 1200 cal/day deficit.  Thanks!  Kelly
Kelly - I have heard many different things about the deficit.  A 1200 calorie deficit one or two days a week is not a bad thing.  There are days when I just don't feel like eating or I am too busy to eat so I do not hit the calorie intake.  Your body will not go into starvation mode as long as you do not go over the 1000 calorie deficit a day very often.

Happy new year everyone!  Today is a great day for new beginnings!

fatdoc  and everyone ,  I understand the weighing in on the scale thing. I'm weighing in today and not again for a month. Give my body time to adjust and than maybe every 2 weeks after that. I stopped my gym membership last week strange idea for someone that wants to get active. I've had it for a year and can count on my fingers how much time I've spent there. It was too far away and traffic jam time. waste of money.  My knees and back can't take too much. I checked with my job at school and we can use the gym after work so I plan on walking there before coming home. I can also take my dog (gypsie) out and walk in evening. I have stairs to basement I'm working on trying to climb them a few times in a row. I have to work on the water drinking thing. I don't really drink sodas either, just don't drink enough of anything I guess. I think I need to carry food with me in car , My big problem is fast food! I need to stop. Does anyone else have that problem?  :) It's like I can't help myself. Happy New Year everyone. Also If anyone would like to try that once  a month weigh in with me we can check in on Feb 1st.
