Weight Loss

Hey everyone,
I'm 5'0" and I currently weigh 175. I know there is another short girls thread, but most of them seem to already weigh 120.
So anyway, I need some big time motivation. Weekly weigh ins, advice, encouragement, etc....and I'm betting that some of you out there could do the same.
So how about it?
I'm not doing so well either haha.
My friend from out of town is visiting and there's been a few drinks and yummy things here and there. Before I started CC I was 180 and I lost 5 lbs on my own. I seem to be stuck now though! Hopefully by eating 1500 instead of 1700 it will make a difference. Although tonight is pretty much a right off....we're going to the bar....oh being 21. Rye and diet? Haha.
What's going on - I'm off to a bad start too!!! Yesterday I had to go to the Melting Pot (my absolute favorite) for a birthday. All we had was Cheese Fondue and Chocolate fondue - and if anyone has ever been there you know how AWFUL for you those are... I saved as many calories as I could through the day, and somehow managed to maintain my weight this morning. But, I can' t help thinking that I would have been down some more if I hadn't eaten there!
Now the weekend is my biggest problem... My husband and I like to go out to eat on the weekends, and I definitely like to have a few drinks. I have been trying to nix the beer and stick with vodka and club soda (only 60 calories per drink).
Good luck to all over the weekend - I know I'll need it!!
Well I feel awfully old. I'm 46 almost 47, but I was at 205.2 this AM. I've been drinking my water and limiting Diet Pepsi to 2 cans a day. We had Papa Murphy's pizza last night, but I made sure it was cut in 12 slices and I just had 2. I also walked a total of 40 minutes last night. I really think writing everything down does help alot. Have a great weekend everyone.
So, tonight I'm splurging - we're going out to Ruby Tuesday and a movie, and I'm going to have my favorite there - the chicken quesadilla appetizer. It's 1000 calories.
However:
The rest of my food for the day: 180 calories for breakfast, 110 for snack 1, 180 + 50 + 40 + 90 = 360 for lunch, 100 + 130 for snack 2 (230). 110 + 360 + 230 = 880. 1250 - 880= 370. 300 calories of exercise is 670... hey, look, I can actually do this. That's only 330 extra calories, which is less than my deficit, so I'm still losing weight today. :)
Edited because I is bad at math.
Ok...so I have a question....What's the average weight loss per week for everyone? I had a good 3 month run and lost about 40 lbs. However, a month ago, I upped my cals (cals were too low) and started working out with a trainer and doing cardio 4-5 days a week. Since that time...I've been losing the same dang 4 lbs every week. I know that weightlifting makes you retain water. But, I've been eating around 1800 cals max on workout days..non workout days around 1550. So, I'm curious what everyone is losing each week?
Oh, I wouldn't try to lose more than 2 pounds a week - 'they' say that's not really healthy. I started counting on July 1 and I've lost seven pounds, which is probably about right.
I'm not doing very well either! Is it something in the water? ('Cause I'm sure drinking water like it's going out of style.) Actually, I thought I was doing OK, but I've only lost 4/10 of a pound in the past week. I guess that's better than zero, eh? I just can't get or stay full this week, no matter what I do, and that makes me want to eat up the whole house. Grr.
krilia: Enjoy your splurge night! It sounds like you've planned carefully and are ready for it. Chicken quesadilla, yay!
new_beginnings: I was averaging about 1.8 pounds a week for the first 5 weeks. It's really slowed down now, especially since I've been so lax on the exercise. Way to go on your exercise regimen! I bet you're gaining muscle, which is making your scale weight unpredictable. Are your clothes getting baggy?
lynners: Thanks for putting the group together! I'd say hang in there and enjoy your friend's company and just try to make healthy decisions when you can. And have fun tonight!
Everyone have a great weekend and stay strong!

I started with CC almost a month ago and have lost an average of 1.3 lbs per week... although to some it doesn't seem like much, I am really OK with it.. my reasoning is that I didn't gain 40 pounds in 5 weeks nor am I going to lose them in 5 weeks.. slow and steady! besides, this to me is more of a change in my lifestyle - back to the way I was and the way I lived about 6 years ago before I went astray...
So today was my first official day
. I think I did ok. (1:15 at the gym plus walking = 1500 cal burned and I ate 1200 cal today...but I will probably eat a banana b4 bed).
I'm studying Nursing and from what I was told in nutrition the amount of weight you lose per week is dependent on how much you weigh, so for example 1lb a week would be good for a smaller person but someone who is a lot heavier could manage to lose more, and still be healthy. (I am just taking this from memory in class I may be wrong). I hope to lose a couple lbs a week for the first little while. I have trouble staying motivated if I don't see results.
I have another question. I work shift work and I have trouble sleeping so I tend to only sleep 5-6 hrs a night (if I am good). How important is sleep in comparison to weight loss (as in does in make a difference in caloric burn). I know I should sleep more but I have to break up my works out for twice a day already just to fit them in.
Love having a forum. Thank you for making it.
Well I actually had a better day than I thought I would have. I went out for Japanese food with my mom today. I had salmon teriyaki and shrimp tempura. I thought that those things would be way higher in calories than they were so I ended up being able to eat a decent dinner as well. Phew! lol
I'm nervous about weighing in this week. I stayed the same last week so I'm hoping to post some loss this week. I've been really good but I don't feel like I've lost anything. Time will tell I guess!
Some people are having rough days but it seems like everyone is motivated to just keep going so that inspires me. Good luck this weekend all!
I feel like I might just finally be thru this plateu I was on. My weight was fluctuating by 3 pounds and it seemed there was nothing I could do to get through it. A couple of weeks ago I switched gyms and started going to some of the classes there and pushed/challenged myself to go everyday this past week. Thankfully I never missed a day and when I weighed myself this morning, I was two pounds lighter! So hopefully that will get me back on track.
Anyone else had a plateau and what did you do to get through?
I am doing great. I get in at least 30 minutes of cardio everyday. I do other exercise also but that is my newest addition to my routine. I have been steadily losing each week and feel so proud of myself. The success comes from keeping tract of E V E R Y T H I N G i eat and burn. I have a few food tactics if you will......
1. Drink water with my meals and throughout the day. I will have hot tea throughout the day, however except for the splash of milk I add it is also only water..lol
2. I don't eat french fries. I don't order them for myself and I don't eat them when someone else orders them. Not even one. There is something right with the world when you have supreme power over the french fry! lol
This morning I weighed 176.6, the lowest I have been in 18 years.
SO HAPPY!
I am not sure how many people are in our group, but I do read the post so keep posting!
I'm in. 5ft, currently weigh 162lb but started out at a whopping 218lb...still looking to lose 30 - 40lbs and struggleing at the moment...I just started a thread myself asking for advice, my loss seems to have just stopped over the last few months. I've only lost 2lb in 2 months!
Congrats halizabeth!
Ugh...yesterday my friend had a pool party for her birthday. I just logged all the calories I ate yesterday and I was at a whopping 3100 calories!!! WHOA!!! So yeah, not good. I did spend about 3 hours in the pool but that is not going to help. That was nearly 3 times what my calorie intake should be. Oh well. Today will be better. I might have messed up my chances for a loss this week though :(
Am 5'2 and 221 lbs. Biggest I've been in a long time. Would like to get down to 175.
Why did I lose weight but gain body fat?
Assuming your body composition was correctly measured, your body fat increased relatively because you metabolized your muscle tissue for energy... Read more
