My due date is tomorrow!
But; I only gained .5 pounds in two weeks.
Is the u/s this morning?
yeah waiting to hear!
I've been relatively calm throughout this amazing pregnancy experience. I've been able to control most of the mood swings and the cravings.
But - this morning; I panicked. The sonogram tech, who was super nice told me......I'm packing a 9.25 lb little girl. 9!!!!! I know these things can be off a little; but still!!! That's huge!!
I saw her face- she's GORGEOUS- big eyes; lips- tiny little nose- HAIR!! I just wish I could see her in person and not on a screen!
But she's very healthy as am I and there's lots of fluid and her heart rate is strong and her spine looks great.
I love this little one SOO much- who knew I could fall in love with an image- I just can't wait to see her!!!
I go back to my OBGYN tomorrow and he'll most likely tell me he'll induce on monday if she doesn't come out over the weekend; which women's inuition says she's staying put!!!
A BIG healthy baby girl. That's good.
She's not huge though. You will be fine. Just keep meditating on the fact that she is perfectly content right now.
I can do this!! I'm breathing!!
I'm so glad the baby is healthy, Vanessa! 9.25lbs! Wow! At least you know your baby girl is healthy. ![]()
how did it go with the ob/gyn???? how do you feel about an induction?
I'm nervous, weepy, tired (I napped and felt better), and anxious. But still really excited to meet her. It won't be real until I'm holding her. Now....just to push her out is my next feat.
I'm glad he's inducing me- at this point my knees and hips ache from the extra weight. But - he did say that my weight gain for an apparantly bigger baby was right on track; so I'm hoping to be down at least 15-20 pounds by Friday having only 15-20 more to lose. I can do that!!
I have my Sahrmann (sp?) core excercises printed out in my hospital bag so I can start them 24 hours after delivery.
Here's the link- there is a pic- I'm not sure it will post; but if you copy and paste; it may work.

is he sure about an induction when the baby is still so high? ugh, it might be days and days and still end in a c section. any chance you are off on dates?
I had an 8 lb baby. Big baby no problem. Big head??? OMG. Ow. But no problem (except for that whole failure to progress dealio). You will be fine!! Height really doesnt matter-- what matters is your ability to open up, your pelvis, and sheer luck. **luck for you**
You want to start exercising right after birth??? I havent looked at the exercises (cuz oh I am lazy) but... I had a vaginal delivery. I was so sore for the first week just rolling over hurt. Every muscle in my body ached, especially hips, legs, butt, back. Seriously, rolling over hurt. Walking the baby didnt hurt though. Hm. Maybe I was just whiny. But really your body is getting a good work out just giving birth-- especially if you arent allowed food or anything but ice chips because of the possibility of a section.
OK I just looked at those exercises. Seriously, dont bring them with you to the hospital. You will feel guilty for not doing them or do them and hurt yourself. Please???
Enjoy your baby and your time with her. Give your body a chance to recover. There will be plenty of time to get back into shape. ![]()
the only excercise I'll probably end up doing is rolling over in bed :) b/c concenus is I'll feel like I was hit by a truck.
I'm still waiting to hear when I should go in. I just fear that as evey day progresses; she gets bigger; and I"ll end up having a c-section; which is fine if it is more healthy for her.
I'll keep all posted. Thanks so much for your support!!
I agree with everyone else on exercise. I still needed help walking to the bathroom (and sitting down/getting back up) for a few days after delivery. I had a vaginal delivery, and I was sore for the first two weeks. Of course, I also had a second degree tear. My doctor advised me to not exercise for the first 6 weeks after delivery, and honestly, I didn't feel like it until about 6 weeks after. But if you feel up to it, and your doctor is okay with it, go for it!
Is your doctor going to call you when he is ready for you to come in? Did he give you an indication of when that would be?
Cecily ~ When will you find out if you are have an induction?
She's def dropped though- I can tell just by looking- and the pressure I'm starting to feel- so that's good. Who knows- I could go into labor!
Cecily- how come your doc wants to induce since you still have a few weeks more to go? Hopefully your last few weeks will be good. I'm sure they will.
Ms. Rainbow- I'm VERY anxious to hold her!! But she already has a mind of her own and already loooooves to drive her momma crazy with her procrastination. She's such a product of me and my DH. :)
So I get to enjoy another day of being pregnant AND I get to finish up my bills AND I get to make some more suace for the week to feed everyone that's going to pop in.
I am so dillusional- LOL- I really crack myself up sometimes!!!
She just kicked me a whopping hello!
My doctor wants to induce for a couple reasons. One, Cole was 2 weeks early and my labor progressed really quickly. He's afraid I'll deliver early again and maybe not make it to the hospital if labor goes even faster this time. Two, he thinks I'm going to have a huge baby, so he says if we deliver early I might be able to avoid having a 9+ pound baby.
He still won't give me a firm date as to when he might induce me-if that's the route we take. He said that he'd check my cervix at 37 weeks and see if I've dilated, and if so, if it would be a good idea to induce. He's supposed to check me at my 36 week appointment on Wednesday, but I seriously doubt I've dilated yet. With my son, I was 1cm at my 37 week appointment. Then I was 3cm at my 38 week appt, and I ended up having him the very next day.
Anyway, enough about me. LOL! I really hope you don't have to be induced. What I worry about is being induced and then ultimately having to have a c-section. I've heard so many stories from women who have had that happen to them. I'd just prefer to go into labor on my own and hope that hubby is home!
Vanessa- She must know you are talking about her. LOL! I'm so glad to hear she is dropping before induction. Maybe you will have a quicker labor and delivery after they induce. You are so in for years of this little girl making things happen on her own terms. She's definitely a New York City girl. LOL! I feel sorry for the boys/men in her future.
Cecily- I really hope things happen naturally for you. Induction is so much more intense for you and the baby. If it ends up being the right choice though, I hope all goes well. Remember to voice your fears and opinion...it's your body!
All- On the topic of body after vaginal delivery, it's different for everyone. I really think it depends greatly on your fitness before delivery and the length of your labor. I was in the hospital for 8 hours, but only pushed 10 minutes. I was walking around and visiting fellow new moms from my birthing class the next morning. I did tear, but not severely. I was up and active in the next week; swimming, walking, doing yoga. I felt great. It just depends on your body. I really hope we all have resilient bodies this time around! ![]()
Cecily- you know the minute I get home from the hospital I'm going to be checking in on you!!!! You're next!! Isn't that exciting!!!
I'm hoping I can at least take the baby for short walks in the AM in two to three weeks post-partum. I'm not expecting miracles; but I do want to attempt to ease my way back onto a fitness regimine. However; I'm thinking now they may do a c-section if she's too big; which I will have to re-evalutate healing time.
The good news is is that my body loses weight through calorie counting as well as excercise- so if I have a c-section and can't workout; I can be stricter with my cals.
But; the main goal here is to get this baby out; I guess she likes being with her mama- I'll have someone to talk to now instead of my huge stomach.
I'm also praying that I don't get stretch marks now that she's growing. I haven't gotten any yet so far; but you never know when they can pop up!!
Each day I check to see if Vanessa has had her baby. Each day, I find out she out that she's still here...come on, little one! It's time to emerge into this beautiful world (I, by the way, was TWO weeks overdue with my son in April. No induction, though. Labor finally started and then lasted a grueling 26 hours before he finally made his grand appearance). Good luck, Vanessa!~
