Are there foods you purposely dont have in your home, healthy or not?

Nuts/ PB.  Try to get a serving size when I do my shopping but they are too tempting to any longer keep a can/jar at home.  Im quite disciplined so its particularly obvious how it  pulls me in for more, more.

Bananas, also healthy and usually get one too with my nuts on grocery day but I dont buy a bunch because I will be 'on' them until there gone.

Living solo, Ive no need to buy unhealthy items but after my daughter left, I dont remember anything giving me a problem that was left behind until I gave it away or tossed it.  Its the stuff I know I can eat but is plays with my portion control.

I wish I could do this as I have issues with binging.  Unfortunately for me, I still live at home with my parents and they buy what they please.

Honestly I still keep some indulgences around, the only things I restrict are those which are TOO convenient. Like pop tarts for instance. Easy breakfast, but terrible for you. Much better to not have them and make myself get up the extra half hour earlier for wheat toast and egg whites.

I can understand your issue!

For me, it's even worse, because I'm living with a host family at the moment, and when I go to the supermarket with them, they buy everything I look at for more than like two seconds (which is why I try to avoid going to the supermarket with them).

And while I could ask my parents not to buy certain things, or lock them away from me, I just don't want to ask my host parents, I would be too embarrassed...

Anyway, back to the point, the things I have issues with (and that I wouldn't buy) are - believe it or not - seeds and nuts. Once I started eating them, I just can't stop. Same thing with Muesli that contains nuts or dried fruit - it's addictive! I also hate it when we are having dinner and they leave things on the table for hours and we just sit there and talk, because if food that I just had, is still left over, I will keep eating eat. It's different when I haven't eaten anything for a little while (ten minutes or so is enough), then they don't tempt me at all.

I found that it's good if I have leftovers for lunch, because then I can determine the serving size before I reheat it. And when I'm finished and want more, I can't be bothered to wait until I have reheated another plate (although it's only like one or two minutes), and so I don't eat anymore...!

cookies if any kind! ooooooh my god i love cookies. my boyfriend likes those ones they call "magic cookies". you know the chocolate chip and m&m cookies. he likes the ones from the bakery at our local grocery store. i could eat 4 of them! i bet there is like 300+ calories in one cookie! i can't have stuff like that in the house. and normal peanut butter is a no no. i use peanut wonder. it has 100 calories and 2 grams of fat verses 190 and 12! still not as good as regular but it keeps me from a peanut butter binge!

My list of foods I either won't buy or buy sparingly.

Potato chips or any other snack chip (big trigger food for me!)
Ice cream
Whole milk or cream.  I do buy butter and full fat cheeses and use them very sparingly.
Candy except for small bars of very good dark chocolate which I break into squares and freeze.
Processed meats like bologna (cancer causing preservatives and bad fat)
Smoked meats, except for the very occassional ham or smoked butt (maybe twice a year)
Anything containing high fructose corn syrup
Anything that has ingredients listed that I can't identify (or pronounce)
Frozen foods such as lean pockets and those pizza bites, and for that matter, frozen pizza.
Anything with trans fats or that has hydrogenated, or partially hydrogenated, oil, even a trace.
Most white sugar and white flour.  I do use these sparingly in baking.

These foods used to be part of my diet when I felt horrible all the time.  I gave them up one by one and feel much better and more satisfied eating healthy foods that are minimally processed.
