I had the best group last year. We emailed each other with our food plan for the next day, talked about events that might cause a problem and how we could make it easier to get threw, and things going on in our lives. We have become very close and all had good success.
We made it to our goals and now I want to go down 10 more pounds and then learn how to maintain that weight. Now I need a new group to keep me accountable and make weight loss more enjoyable.
I'm 5'6" and 146 pounds. I am going on vacation on March 26th and would like to be at goal.
It's monday morning... and my weigh in is... 148.5! (from 150/151 a week ago!)
I am making progress. But, how?
I have cut out a lot of carbs - no pasta, bread, etc. I am eating a lot of raw veggies and fruits, nuts, and lean meat. I still have a tendency to go for the sweets at least once every two days. Also, I know what you mean about late night eating. I am a night owl but whenever I stay up late I have a tendency to snack. I need to stop that... and that is what I will plan on focusing on this week!
Good luck with your weigh ins!
Hi Guys well I went to the gym on Saturday and though I did not go to the gym for couple days and was eating like a mad person, I manage to lose 2 pounds. Yay me. So I will be starting back the gym today officially though I am not 100% healthy yet, but I don't care anyway. Hope you are all doing great bye.
Unfortunately I will not be joining all the losers this week. Although I am still thrilled that I went camping with all the "camping food" and maintained. The past three years or more I have gained between 10 and 17 pounds during the summers. So my goal for this summer is to either lose weight or maintain! It's half way threw and I am 2 pounds from goal. With your help, I think I will actually make this goal this summer!
chatty, the summer is more than halfway through and you're doing great! You should be so proud to be shaking off your summer weight gain curse. And congrats to our new folk for doing so well! How is the raw diet working? I feel like it's a great idea but probably too extreme for my body. It is, however, inspiring enough to make me pick up a few extra fruits and veggies at the grocery store and use them as my main option for snacks!
The good news for me is this last Monday I got the chance to run around and play ultimate frisbee for 2+ hours. Some of you might not know the sport but it's pretty popular with college club teams as well as local area leagues. I tried to sign up for a summer league, got wait listed, and bam, monday i get an email that a team needs another player can I show that night? Hell yeah! My legs are STILL sore.
The bad news is my weigh in today wasn't so hot. I think it's a combination of TTOM and the fact I had a few drinks at dinner last night but I'm up! Kinda sucks but next week is a new week. I'm just going to focus and worry about meeting some exercise goals, like running for an hour again and finally making it to a hot yoga class!
Week 1: 153.8
Week 2: 152.4
Week 3: 152.0
Week 4: 150.2
Week 5: 150.4
Week 6: 149.8
Week 7: 152.4
Is this group open to join?
Also, anyone here tracking measurements instead of or in addition to weighing in?
Hi girls! It's just me checking in again! I am still maintaining goal weight (actually this a.m. one lb below) 129. I have noticed that when I stagger my calories I actually am losing more weight and it's easier. I have been eating around 1200-1400 cals a day and then going up to 1600 every couple of days. It's working so far! I have still not been exercising which I know I need to do but it is soooo hot and my asthma has been bothering me so (that's my excuse for this period of time LOL).....It sounds like everyone else is doing very well too! I'm proud of all of us! About the measurements I actually should have done that but didn't. It would be nice now to know what the numbers were then and now. I know I went from some 16's to now some 8's depending on the brand . Have a relaxing Sunday ladies and I will check in again down the road! ![]()
Good job cantlose.
I am maintaining and have been between 122 and 123 with my scale. I haven't been on here for a week or so, and haven't been logging what I eat so I guess that's good because I haven't gained, or really worked out much.
chatty: I am going camping soon too, hopefully I won't have too much trouble. You can do it.
Hi everyone! I am sorry I haven't checked in--- but today marks my day of getting back on track - officially.
I am all moved into my new apartment --- since Wednesday I have been getting it organized. It is exciting. I don't have much food yet but once I can go food shopping, I will be sure to buy only healthy items.
Yesterday I unpacked the scale and stepped on it --- 133lbs. I am really not happy and I can feel those 5lbs I put on since mid-June. I can even tell that some of my clothes don't fit me very well.
Wednesday I start work... so today and tomorrow I hope to go outside and exercise. I am not very familiar with the area, so I don't want to go too far. I also had the movers pack my bike, so I can bike ride some days instead of just running every day.
It is time to get back on track. From here on in, my new life has started. I can get back on track. I will get back on track. And I want to lose these pesky 5lbs I gained. Then focus on getting to my goal weight of 125lbs.
Hello Group, today is Monday (Weigh In Day) and I am happy to report that I am down 2 pounds from 140, making me (Drum Roll Please) 138pounds. Finally I am in the 130's I am so happy for that.
I realize that the secret to this weight loss thing (for me at least) is to keep your major goal at the back of your mind without dwelling on it too much. But, at the same time make tactical weekly goals that you can realistically stick to, that way you don't get too frustrated in looking the the big picture.
Ok so I hope that everyone is doing great!!!
Hi all! Another Monday.
Welcome to our group iowa-jeni!
Good job with maintaining cantlose and lisseth83... I too have been maintaining, for summer I am totally happy about this! Come Fall though I am going to kick everything up a notch.
Funkymunky... considering everything that you are going through right now with moving, a new job, a new apartment in a new place, etc... I think you are doing great and your plan to get back on track sounds very sound.
And Sueswan... down 2 more pounds bringing you into the 130s oooh whooo! Way to go!
I have been totally enjoying summer! We have been camping twice, on the go, hanging out at my sister in laws pool, and have another trip coming up. I don't want summer to come to an end!
I'm glad to hear everyone is doing well! So many people maintaining and even some losing! funkymonkey i'm glad you're finally settled it. You'll get back into a routine soon enough and those pounds won't be sticking around for long. I have to say it sounds like you're handling the stress of your move and basically new life very well, so congrats on that!
I've been having this crazy up and down thing with the scale. Last thursday it shot up to 152.4, I weighed again saturday or sunday and it was 149.8. I thought woohoo that was just TTOM and the reality is I actually lost! Unfortunately weighing myself today I'm back at 152. No really sure what's going on but I'm going to try not to worry about it. I just wish it would level out... this uncertainty of did I gain or lose is kind of annoying!
As for good news! The past two weeks I haven't had a chance to attempt a long run because I started playing some ultimate frisbee games on a summer league team here in baltimore. It's a lot of running so I figured that's like my 'long run' night. Well yesterday I started to worry that maybe it wasn't enough to maintain all my distance running hard work so I went out for a true long run. To my surprise I survived! I ran for about an hour a total of 5.4 miles! That officially beats the 5.3 miles from my last run. So excited! I cannot wait until I can do 7 miles. I'll feel like a TRUE long distance runner. ![]()
I've been enjoying my summer a little too much (swimming, going to the water parks, camping, etc). We have been on the go so much or we have been working a lot... either way I haven't been doing any of my exercise. The only thing that saves me, is that my job is physical so I get some exercise in that way.
I've just been trying had to make smart food choices, to off set things. And stick to trying to maintain for the summer.
So what has everyone done with there summer? It's been more quiet in here than usual so I am assuming that people our enjoy being outdoors and vacationing. At least I hope so anyway!
hi, can i join? i've joined a few other groups, but they all seem to be dead after a few days or so...
my main concern is that i tend to go off track really easily, hopefully the weekly weigh-ins will keep me on track. =)
So ok this is Tuesday I did not get to weigh in yesterday because my mom was in town and I just couldn't. I ended up eating a whole of of junk (i.e. vegan pizza), but despite the fact the I did not exceed my caloric intake for the day I weighed 138 this morning when I weighed at the gym.
I know the last time I posted I said I was 138 pounds BUT I went to the gym on saturday and weighed myself out of curiousity . I was 137 pounds and was very happy to have lost 1 pound and expected to have lost 1 more pound over the weekend, but instead I gained. I am so mad!!! I feel like I wasted one weeks gym money by not losing.
I am taking vengeance this week, I will avenge my weight gain by burning 2000 calories every day at the gym this week until Monday. I am sure I can make up for the 1 pound weight gain.
My goal for this week:
Eat a lot
Drink lots of water
and burn atleast 2000 calories a day.
Today I burnt 2000 calories to lose 3 pounds by Monday (i.e. 10,500 calorie deficit). I will however settle for 2 pounds lost this coming Monday but no less.
I hope that everyone is not a sorry gainer like I am. I hope you guys are doing good. I think I need to learn how to eat around people that knew me before I started on this journey and I need to come to terms with the fact that it does not matter what they think :)
Hey everyone. I know the start of the week is not my usual time to check in but I felt like updating all of you anyways! So my weight has been doing a 2 lb up and down the past few weeks.. it's a bad cycle. First the scale is not working perfectly (aka the first few attempts I get an error or I get two different numbers back to back) so I think OK I'll weigh in saturday. Then saturday I get some crazy variation of 2 lbs which can't be right so I weigh on tuesday and it gets to a point where I need to remember I'm just seeing day to day normal changes and nothing more!
Anyways so Sueswan I'd say don't worry about the 1lb. There's a chance you were a little more dehydrated when you weighed in, or you're a little extra full when it said 138 this morning. 2000 calories in working out is a LOT! On really good days I can run 5ish miles and that's only 600 calories. When that's done I'm flat out pooped. Take care and don't hurt yourself.
Speaking of which that's why I'm writing! I managed to go and hurt myself last night during the second point of the first of two ultimate frisbee games last night! It's a non-contact sport but I ended up running into someone. His hip must have hit the exact wrong spot on my leg because my quad is just in total pain (and was all last night but I kept playing anyways!). A bruised muscle like that feel like a strained muscle (it hurts to do stairs and I get these twinges of pain if I step funny) PLUS a big freakin black and blue (it hurts to touch!)
Worst combination ever. So it looks like I'm out probably through the weekend for any kind of cardio. The doc says I'll still be sore for weeks after that but to go by my pain.
Hope you all are doing better than me!
Sueswan... the one pound was probably just from increased sodium. Don't sweat it, it will be off in a couple of days.
fhstke... I am so sorry to hear about your injury. I know that it's so frustrating for so many reasons! In regards to your scale, it sounds like the batteries are getting low. Mine did that as well.
I am so proud of everyone getting back on track and making up a game plan. This is my last vacation of the summer this weekend- we are going to Canada. After that I am going to get off this maintance thing I have been doing and get myself back on track.
My plan:
- 1. Start up my exercise routine again... get my sons involved with this as well. One needs to lose a little and one needs to build up some indurance.
- 2. Start making the healthy meals at home. Although I have been making good choices at restaurants, even their good choices aren't as good as when you have control of how it is prepared at home.
- 3. Increase my water intake and cut back on the soft drinks.
- 4. Plan ahead for meals that I take to work.
sweet chattynoel! i'm so glad you're going to Canada, it's where i live ;)
as for this week, still at 125, maybe i need to increase my cardio or something, the scale's not budging. anyway, i hope to hear more from you guys!
Oh girls I have OVER INDULGED didn't even look back at the posts to see where I was when I last wrote.....I have been very stressed...need I say anything else but I now am UP to 137! I know that is not bad but it IS considering I am going UP UP UP and it is my own fault,,,UGH! I must get back on track. Hope you are all happy healthy and enjoying life! I'll check in as usual...later!
Oh yeah one more thing. You haven't noticed I am no longer a cat! I have had a bad time over my pix so.....be nice ok you YOUNG ladies!!!! Of course it wouldn't be me without some sarcasm/wit pictures to go along with my old #%$!!!!!!
cantlose, it's totally understandable. When I am stressed the same thing happens. When we opened up our 2nd location of our business, I put on 17 pounds in two months! But the good news is what comes on, will come off. You can join me for a fresh start. I am starting back today. Besides summer activities (swimming, walking on the beach, running all over the water park, volleyball, etc.), I have actually exercised since May. So I am getting back on the Elliptical and Tuesday I am getting back to Yoga.
Hi Chatty well this a.m. I am at 135. I really don't know how I lost 2 lbs but I am going up and down like a yo yo these days. Now if it will just continue to go downward I will be pleased!!! The weather has cooled off here for the last couple of days we hit a record a.m. temp of 55! Maybe I will feel more like walking ....we'll see!
Hope everyone else is having great success and that today will be a healthy HAPPY tuesday!
