#382 wings2fly Feb 04 2008 11:23

Good Morning,

I'm not a Super Bowl fan but had guests all day yesterday so I didn't make it through without snack cheating but I chose SF pudding thinking it was at least not as bad as other things I could've gotten into.

I was so discouraged about not losing much weight during phase 1 (today is day 14) that I went to the library and got the book.  I've already read it and see where I was making some major mistakes.  Now I want to start over but I don't think I can do another 2 weeks of phase 1 right away.  Any advice on how long to give phase 2 a try before going back to do Phase 1 the right way or should I just jump in and try to do the Phase 1 over?

Bee, Thanks soooo much for the Egg Beaters tip.  I had no idea that they had no fat.  I have always eaten low fat diets in the past and stayed away from eggs all together so trying the SBD plan has been a total 180 for me and I'm just not the knowledgeable about all the proteins yet.  I'm actually excited to try them.

Sun, sorry about the computer.  I work in the IT field and really hate when my computer goes on the fritz.  Glad you could get some help to get it semi-working again.  Good luck.

Hope everyone has a good Monday Laughing

Oh noooo!!

My resolve is being tested!!!  The stationary guy has just brought in a box of sweets (Cadbury's Roses) as a way of saying sorry for mixing up the stationary order!!

I offered them around the office (share the calories!) but have managed not to eat any yet!!  I really hope that I will last through the day!!!

*points a celery stick at Gina*back away from the sweets now or Ill open fire.  LOL!!!!

Wings a lot of us here have a hard time with carbs in the morning as it leads to cravings for the rest of the day.  I can eat oatmeal for breakfast now but it took me a while to get used to it and control the cravings later on.  I got real sick of eggs after a while even though I love them.  Phase 2 for me let me get some more variety in my diet.  I still find myself eating the same foods over and over again though.  I have a hard time doing phase 1 again I found it to strict once I started phase 2 but it might not be the same for you.

Hey rachel you got your post in before me.  thats great about starting a running plan  Im so out of shape that running is still hard for me.
#387 entersandlady Feb 04 2008 12:38
Thats very true Rachel!!  thats why I left the box up at the counter so that other people would eat them!!  And if I did end up giving in they would all be gone!!!  good luck with the running!!!!

LOL Sarah!! **Holds hands up and backs away slowly**  Very funny!!!!
#388 entersandlady Feb 04 2008 15:46

#389 kae03 Feb 04 2008 16:23
My Dr suggested that I try SBD...it looks healthy and fairly easy.  I know everyone is differnt, but about how much can be lost during the 1st 2 weeks?  I really need a weight loss to encourage me in this KWIM?  I was doing well calorie counting then life happened, lost track and I weigh more now then when I started CC...I really need something to work for me.  I just ordered Turbo Jam and my dd will do it with me so I am hoping that i will be faithful to work out too.  I am desperate, but so afraid that I will fail I am afaid to start.  I just got to 200 pounds and I am scared!

Well Happy Monday ladies.....and guess what! Wait for it......I'm on the steroids AGAIN!!! Only for a week, but was hoping to drop a lb. this week.  No choice, it just kept getting worse over the weekend and it just wouldn't calm down. Got some workouts in, but I don't think that really helped the situation.  Unfortunately, let's see we are now looking at 1 wk out of every month (almost made it through Jan) being on these things.  And the bad thing is that the GP's are worried about the dermotologist using this as a course to stop the flare ups.....I am hoping tomorrow I can get back to the gym, because with this throw back I binged a bit, sweet stuff, not sure why that is such a big deal when I am on the sweets. I could have made better choices, but didn't feel like it really.

I don't think I went over 1500 calories, not so sure on fat and carbs, but maybe my body will give me a break LOL.

Hope everyone else is doing really well....will try to check back in before Thurs....Jayne, may not weigh in on Thursday, will let you know!

Got back on the scale from my crazy gain this morn.  Had taken fiber 3x yesterday hoping to uh, help things along but no luck before heading in.  Back down from 373 Friday to 366.3 today, about halfway back down.  Such a slow month considering the norm that Im still above Jan 1 but not worried - going good.

Welcome Kae!  I got on SB because of my dr too.  Losses for phase1 first to weeks can really depend on how strict to the plan you are but it does range as far as loss.  Most of us found we lost more then average but as far as a number, maybe someone starting closer to 200 can say.

Angie, the gym has done so well for you even fighting with the steriod obstacle.  Let us know how it goes!  Good going Gina! Something about a 'gift'.  I hadnt intro fruit when my sis was visiting and bought some but during her stay I got fruit delivery for xmas and decided it was a good time to start.  Stay strong :D!!  BTW I was up til about 4-5am with a mini nap til 7.

Good luck with the running Rachael!  A mini phase1 will give you a jump.  Wings, I found the book so helpful to have as a reference.  As far as your plan, I would try what you think you can do best and youve always the option to change it.  Its a real personal decision and Im thinking we've all approached it somewhat differently when revisiting phase 1 as far a how long and when.  Good luck now with the big to back you up!

Gina I will ask Ashton today when she comes home from school, she was sick last friday.

Hi Kae I started out at 202 Lbs I lost 15 in the first 2 weeks.  i went from eating total crap to super healthy and strict  thats probley why i have a hard time going back to phase one.  A lot of that loss was water weight kind of like on the biggest loser in there first two weeks.  It did help me get motivated to keep going.  It seems like the first 30lbs flew off but these last ten have been super hard and I still have 20 more to go.  Holidays was a big factor for me and Im still struggling to get back on track every day.

Angie oh no the steroids again.  All that excersize your doing should help counter some of the effect I would think.... but I dont know much about steroids.  Keep at it and dont give up.  Its only for a week right

Jayne the scale going down is always a good thing.  theres most likely still some water retention.  Were all doing so great... even if we go up sometimes it gets us in gear to head down again.

Hola ladies, I'm going to join your group here!

I was having the hardest time losing weight (working out 6 days a week and eating a 1000 calorie deficit, but not losing) and I started SBD last week, while still counting calories, and lost 7 pounds! Holy cow Batman! It just fell off! And I wasn't even doing Phase I. I was on Phase II. I've done SBD before and I really didn't watn to do Phase I ever again.

Anywho, I thought I'd share a recipe I had a lot of fun with last week:

Faux-jitas

See you guys around!

#394 lahoo Feb 04 2008 19:59

Ok, I'm going to give this a try!  I tried SB once many years ago and failed miserably. Growing up with rice or potatoes or pasta as part of dinner every night and eliminating that is the hardest part.  I know that I am a carb junkie but I think I am ready to try this again.  Maybe having an eat/don't eat list will help.

STARTING WEIGHT:  205 POUNDS

CURRENT WEIGHT:   198 POUNDS

WEIGHT LOSS TOTAL: 7 POUNDS

GOAL WEIGHT:  130 POUNDS

I need to go shopping.  I am excited yet nervous.  I will be so discouraged if another thing fails.
#396 irlmonet Feb 04 2008 20:31

WELCOME NEWBIES! What I can attest to is the ladies in this group are the most supportive ones out there.  Glad you are on board and good luck!

Yep, GetFit, the stinkin steroids again! Only a week, but usually I see the effects and its about 9pm at night and still very flared, so maybe better tomorrow. I took today off the gym because the sweat really agrivates it!  If its gone down tomorrow, then its back to the grindstone to try to at least not gain anything. And I know one thing drinking lots of water when on steroids is not the best thing. LOL. I just couldn't believe by being on them for one day and I was craving my sweet tooth again! God these things are deadly for dieters!

Will check in again soon, completely wrecked from lack of sleep the past couple days, not a great sleeper anyway, so going now while I feel sleepy!

#397 sun123 Feb 05 2008 00:19
Yeah new folks!  BIG WELCOME!  I hear you Heather - phase1 is kind of like bootcamp.  Lori, wasnt sure if you were acknowledging it but if not, the OP has links for eat/ dont eat.  The one thing about phase1 for me is it prepare me for controlling the carbs and you can work you way up to 2-3 fruits and 2-3 starches daily.

Angie, you are a testament of what determination can do with obstacles like yours.  Wishing you a better day tomorrow.  Kae, we'll be here to support you - good and bad.  Hoping you'll find plenty of allowed foods on your trip to the store.

The first few days after starting taking fiber, I was regular but then it was back to going several days between bathroom stops.  Sorry dont mean to scare off any newbies.  I always hope to go before weighin but rarely do.  Today I didnt either before weighin so but did later so after leaving counseling I stopped by the clinic and yup, I was lighter.  When I hit the scale Thursdays, I dont want to cheat but also dont want anything working against me either.

Talk about putting water weight into perspective - First 2weeks of Jan lost 5 lbs total but following my crazy 15 lb week gain now with a 3day weekend loss of 8 lbs.  If only fat came off that fast.
