schnitzel - keep the faith! next month will be better. aovermy - why isn't you dr. concerned about your weight loss and your overall health in general? seems to me that the dr. would still want to see how your cholesterol is doing. I will post my weight loss for the month on the 1st since I have my drs appt then. |

Congrats to all for the progress and Tracy, Aprils your month! Last night I was up to 5am cleaning (yeah, it was overdue) so hoping it will help my odds for for weigh in, even if Im feeling a bit sore (from cleaning of all things!). Thursday was a no loss weigh-in and Im actually trying to catch up because Im behind schedule for this summer.
Good to hear your lump isnt a concern! |

MARCH 1 WEIGHT .... 284 APRIL 1 WEIGHT .... 280 (if I lose more between now and Tues, I'll update!) MARCH WEIGHT LOSS .... 4 pounds TOTAL WEIGHT LOSS .... 92 pounds MARCH COMMENTS: March was a weird month for me, and my body is undergoing a period of adjustment. I stopped taking insulin (diabetes), I started taking Synthroid (thyroid), my weight lass stalled because I increased my exercise without increasing my calories, so I increased my calories from 1500 a day to 1900 per day with a committment to do more exercise (biking.) And I also seemed to be really battling water retention following four non-logging days. So, all in all, the four pound loss (1 pound a week), while my lowest weight loss to date, is at least understandable. LOOKING AHEAD: I am now nicely one week into my 1900 calorie per day groove, and have been biking an hour or more 6 days a week around my neighborhood. I'm trying to eat more protein/fat and not increase my carbs at all, and my fiber is still around 70g per day. We leave on our cruise May 3, so I really would like April to be a strong month for me. I have two upcoming milestones (goals) that I'd like to hit in April (or May) ....

I am all the way back up to 275 for a 3.4 lb gain in March! Oh well. I have been eating poorly and had a stressful couple of weeks at the end of the quarter where I barely exercised at all, so I am just glad it wasn't worse. But I have also spent 27 hours this month hiking (not including today, I hope to get in 2-3 hours this afternoon). So I hope at least one pound of that gain was some serious leg muscle. They have certainly been achy enough! There is also reason to be positive for the coming months, since I will only be attending classes part time starting next week, and the days are longer which means I can get more hiking in. The exercise is not the problem, I just need to get my eating more on track.. which I can do if I get my stress levels down.. less time in classes should help with that too. Hey, everyone is doing great because we got through the winter! Nothing but springtime in the months ahead! |

| Hang in there, jrobillard! I broke my foot last year in Aug, and gained 20 lb during the 3 months I was off of it. Within a month of getting the cast off, it was all gone. I'm guessing some was water and some was weight. I simply found it hard to control my appetite without the exercise. | ||

| I am glad that so many of you are having great successes. I wish I was one of them, but for some reason, I am not. I have not lost, only gained. I am finally being weaned off of the prednisone, so maybe I will start seeing a weight loss. I have noticed a decrease in appetite and thought sure that there would be a weight loss, but I have also got a large amount of fluid (although I take 2 diaretics per day in large amounts), so that is probably why there is no weight loss to report. | ||

April 1st weigh in: SW: 324 MARCH: 308.2 APRIL: 302.6 LOST: 5.6 Not as much as I had hoped for, but I just keep remembering "The Tortoise and The Hare" - slow and steady wins the the race. Hopefully, I'll soon be under 300. Next goal - 291.6 - my 10% weight. I am curious as to how age and/or medical condition corresponds to weight loss. Any comments?
|
||
| #397 | Apr 01 2008 17:15 | |
| Medical condition definitely corresponds to weight loss, because some illnesses and some medications change the metabolism, either speeding it up for rapid weight loss, or slowing it down for slow weight loss and weight gain. | ||

No April fools thankfully this morning, considering last week I was good but the scale was bad (grrrr).
March 1st 348.0 April 1st 335.9 Pam, the chemical in over the counter Benadryl can slow metabolism and other medications can cause ravenous appetites like medical steriods. As far as age, it does cause metabolism to slow down but also many people were more active when they were younger. Im so excited for everybody and their losses!! If this wasnt your month, its just one in a year of them - I know February was my bad one, hopefully my last bad one :P. Thanks everyone for your updates - very encouraging and love hearing specifics on how its been going. Thinking about everyone who normally does NYears resolutions - they say support is a factor in sticking to them and this thread with everyone has been great for me! |
