Hi everyone!
I read the thread everyday and ya'll seem to be so buddy-buddy! It's nice to see such support.
Got a question: Does anyone have good recipes/suggestions for a girl and her family that doesn't eat enough veggies? Would like to eat more, but they need to be flavorful (not nec. butter flavored lol)...
Another question: do any of you ever feel like your not eating enough, but your calories are still piling up? How do you counter-act that?
Thanks!

Hey jessica...
with more veggies *lol*
Take a look at www.cookinglight.com and just put in "vegetables" as a main ingredient... they have EXCELLENT and often easy recipes...

Thanks. For some reason, I figured that would be the answer... :P
How goes it with you? I'm keeping my calories around 1500 and working out at Curves 3 days a week.... and I am seeing results!
Yea for all of us!!

Things are VERY good with me.. thanks for asking jess... think i finally broke a two week plateau... changed up a few things thi week... working out 6-7 days a week for about an hour a day..(but remember, I've been working out for three years)... I bumped my calories up a TAD to 1600... and feel AWESOME!
I got something funny to share. Last night me and my husband were talking about the whole losing weight thing and about how I want to do it the right way. Well we happened to be eating fried chicken (which I only had 1 pc. of) and I told him that I really didn't need to be eating this chicken. Well he said that next week we could eat salad with chicken everyday for dinner. I was a amazed a person who loves his meat and rice is willing to eat a salad everyday. I told him he was full of it and that he would not follow through with it. Should I hold him to it? It would make cooking alot easier! I kind of just want to do it to see if he will.
Of COURSE he will.. he loves you and wants you to be happy and healthy.
chicken and salad every day could get boring! *lol*
My husband is a big guy... not really ready to do anything about it... which is fine with me... and he does ALL of the cooking.
but I asked him if he could PLEASE cook healthy for dinner.. but he could eat anything he wants for breakrast and lunch... he agreed... and it's working for us... makes him extra happy because I look up recipes that I want... and he enjoys making them!

Tamara-Your husband cooks your so lucky! I can get mine to start some meat in the afternoon while I am driving home and that is about it. But he will do dishes! Actually I could eat a salad everyday I love them!
My husband and family don't need to lose weight. ( Lucky them ) We eat at all different times because of the time they work. I have to cook mostly different meals for me because they are meat and potato men. (IF you know what I mean.)
Your husbands sound like they are very supportive.
How do the rest of you handle meals?

I"m lucky he's my husband for a MILLION reasons... he's the greatest guy I've ever met... AND he's cute! *lol*
Hi everyone! I've been reading posts but have had little time to respond to any. We will be starting school next Monday so things have been busy, busy, busy. I've been working far too many hours in preparation for the big day. This is where I get into "sticky" situations. I'll not want to stop working to eat and begin "snacking" on unhealthy things. Fortunately, I haven't fallen back into my old patterns. I know, however, it's only a matter of time unless I make a commitment to take care of myself first.
I will be finishing up my fourth week with CC on Saturday. My weightloss has been slow and it even stalled for a short time. Today, however, I put on a pair of pants and low and behold they were actually loose on me. So, as others have stated on this thread, although you may not see a change in weight - sometimes you will see a change in inches. I am encouraged!
Lorabear, I'm here, my twin! How are things with you? When do you return to work? Enjoy what remains of your time off.
Will go for now. Take care everyone.

Ok, so here's my problem: I'm house sitting until the 16th. I bought all of my own food so I could make sure that I ate healthy and didn't eat any of the crap they left. They have a scale in their house that I can use, but I can't figure out how much I really weigh. I'm at least 5 pounds heavier on my scale at home and that's what I'm going by.
I need to compare the 2 and I can't. I know you're really not supposed to weigh yourself everyday, but I enjoy it. (Don't ask me why haha).
The good news is: I have a physical tomorrow and I get to find out how much I "really" weigh (really is in quotes because my appt's. in the afternoon)
Tamara: Congratulations on breaking your plateau!!!

clwhit- Isn't it a wonderful feeling when you put on clothes and find out that they are lose! Keep trying to stay out of those "sticky" situations. Keep some healthy snacks around and munch on them. Did you ever talk to the Nutritionist?
We don't go back until after Labor Day this year. Although I will be in early updating bus maps on the computer.
I have been doing OK with watching what I eat (Mostly due to still having a cold.) I found out that the school near me with the pool will have water exercise starting in September so I am going to sign up.
Also have yoga and tai chi. Has anyone ever tried these?

lorabear: I'm TERRIBLE at yoga and tai chi... I probably should do them more... I'm pretty strong and do well with pilates and weights... but holding some of those poses... WOW!!! In Tai Chi my thighs quiver... and I can't hold my arms out for that long... and in yoga... planks, and T-stands... I just collapse... but if I work at it for longer.. I"m sure it'll be better.
I hear a lot of "back to school" talk... teachers? Me too.. year 14... high school English...
and I'm a little worried about food/eating, too... but I have a PLAN... First of all... because I REALLY need to watch calories... durng inservice and things like that... I'll always have "errands" to run during lunch... that way I can be sure to get healrhy and not overeat... then, once the YEAR starts... I'll pack lunch every day... snack during conference period... and I"m gonna keep granola bars in the car... one on the way TO THE GYM... stop at the gym ON THE WAY HOME. New plan/new life/new me!
ANd the plateau is STILL broken!!!! I do weigh every day... down another .8 pounds today... 3.4 so far this week... I know it sounds like a bunch... but in the law of averages I had plateaued for two weeks... so I'm still at just about a pound per week.
*added to post* I LOVED water aerobics when I first started exercising... my gym is in the process of building a pool right now... I actually ordered some online and used to do them at home.. .in the pool... I had to drag a portable television set outside and watch it... but it worked... I liked it... and you don't know you're sweating!*

Jessica, here is a link to one of my favorite vegetable dishes. And you can add other vegetables as well.

Well I did my weekly weigh in and I am up 1.6lbs. I can not figure out why. TTOM finished last week so I don't think it is that. Oh well life goes on and I am not giving up.
I bought a Kundalini yoga dvd a month or so ago and I absolutley hated it. I didn't know what Kundalini meant when I bought it and I found out the hard way. I can't shake my head around that much, I felt like I was having a seizure and then I couldn't stop laughing.
Lorabear: Do you have any suggestions for beginner versions of yoga or tai chi that would be good exercise??

Tamara- congrats on breaking the plateau!
I weighed myself this morning just for the fun of it- 210!!! (down 2lbs) I know most, if not all, of that is water weight, and last night will still probably catch up to me soon, but its still motivating.
Yesterday was bad. Went to a thai restaurant and had general tao chicken plate for dinner, and a smoked meat sandwich for lunch. This was definitely a one-off though. I was with a friend of mine that I hadn't seen in a really long time that just moved to my city, and he wanted to try all the city's delicacies. And so I obliged, and I'm kind of regretting it a little.
I suppose I have to be happy about all the small things. Yes, I went over my cals yesterday (Although by how much, I have no idea). However, I drank a TON of water, did not overeat (ie- I basically had three meals with one healthy snack between lunch and dinner), refused a beer when it was offered to me, and since I was showing him the city, we walked A LOT.
That's how I know that its finally hit me that this is a LIFESTYLE change. My entire diet didn't collapse over one bad eating day, and while one aspect wasn't so great, I compensated by staying on track with everything else.
So in a way, I'm pretty proud of myself. Now I've got to go to work for the whole day...

Way to go gbs: Be happy about meeting with the old friend! I hope you enjoyed the lunch... but no feeling bad about it today!!! You don't eat like that every day (anymore).
One hint (from someone who lost it all... and gained it back :-) ) When I KNOW I have an "event" coming up... or an "off" day... I compensate for a few days before... nothing crazy... but I eat at the LOWEST calories possible...llike a STRICT 1200... for a few days before... I don't BINGE on the off day.. and am still careful about my selections... but that way... if I look at the average number of calories for those days.. I'm still at the right amount... and it's basically a zig zag... and sometimes the day after my "off" day... I actually lose again.

gbsfan- I always like to count the plus signs of the day! Yes you had some negatives but you had so many plus signs too. Don't dwell on the bad to heavy.
rebepi- I haven't tried ether yoga or tai chi but I hear they are good for exercise. Good for the joints and us older folks( Ha! Ha! ) I am looking for advise from the group too. Anyone else have any recommendations? ( Remember beginner would be the key here!)
tamarascholtz- I work in transportation, driving school bus. Clwhit is a elementary school principal. Sounds like many of us work in the education department. Any others out there? I hear weights are a good for strength increase. Any recommendations?
I haven't heard or seen anything from many of you lately. If you haven't been posting lately check in and let us know how you are doing.
