Hi everyone! Gotta keep it kind of short (arm Problems) can't see the doc till Monday...Anyway wanted to ask a non weight question since you ladies are my age group....Do you have problems sleeping through the night? I have been on temazepam for over a year and even it isn't helping. I have no trouble falling asleep it is STAYING asleep!!!! Any of you with this problem have a helpful hint?! Quickly congrats to all the "LATEST REAL LOSERS" !!!!!!! Some of you girls need some relaxing time and I really hope the horses are better. I'm so happy for your China trip be safe and keep us informed. I know I didn't put names but I really am hurting and hopefully u all know who I am talking too! The rest of you that I have missed I promise to catch up with later! Gotta get my arm better so we can meet at Aly's cabin Saturday! LOL! Really someday for sure! Connie
Oh Connie! I thought it had gotten all well! I am so sorry it is still bugging you!
I was busy being so proud of your love life successes that I made a wrong assumption...sorry![]()
Read through more posts...Jenny, depression is such a nasty thing, I hope the new meds work wonders! I have several family members that struggle with it, and at least 2 of them swear that the more they move (esp outside) the better they feel...if thats any help...and I love Sue's FITYMI!
!!
Betsy, you are one busy lady! good luck with everything, travel, officials, and your daughter! (and all the doings of your other kids!)
Pudgy pies: made with a long handled contraption that works somewhat like a grilled cheese sandwich press, except the plates that hold the bread "pudge " out to hold more filling. You put a piece of bread in on each side, and layer in all sorts of fillings, they can be main dish, my favorite is pizza, or desert with pie fillings or cream cheese or...or...or! then you hold it in the fire for about 5 min and ...oh my goodness!
Pudgy pies for all at the cabin whenever you ladies can get Oprah on board! (diet bread and 'lite' fillings of course
)
Gotta get to work...
Alylou - what a weight loss success story. You must feel terrific!!! And the camping wash-out trip sounds like one that everyone could have done without, but it was an EXPERIENCE, I am sure. I hope WI drys out real soon and the farmers don't lose their crops due to drowning or fungus from the wet. I was not familiar with pudgy pies, but they sound fantastic. Yummm
Jenny - sounds like Rusty was not so fond of his vet visit. Glad it all ended well and the vet stuck it out. My youngster is putting more weight on his leg all the time. And after some "airs above ground" and calculated kicks at me on day 3 of penicillin shots, I decided to switch him over to oral antibiotics!!
Connie - sorry to hear the arm is still unhappy. Does your dr think it is arm related or stemming from something higher up like a pinched vertebrae, etc? If higher up then perhaps a nice massage is in order. Either way I hope it gets better soon. If you get desparate feel free to use that Pina Colada straw as a "typing device" gripped firmly between your teeth.
Honestly.. hope the pain lets up soon.
My PT appt got pushed off til Monday so there will be no update on that right away <sigh>.
Sue - What is FITYMI (don't think I was paying attention)? ![]()
Have a good day all.

Sue - What is FITYMI (don't think I was paying attention)?
Have a good day all.

HI Skn - FITYMI = Fake It Til You Make It
It sort of means, when your feeling blue or down-hearted, just slap a phony smile on and "act" as if you are happy - and sometimes, you'll actually start feeling that way. It's corny - I know, and can be done in a sort of sarcastic way, too. When I was going through a bad time some years ago, I hung on to that idea on certain days. I wrote it in an earlier post to Jennytu when she said she was feeling low.
Just didn't want you all to think I was only gonna' talk to Skn this AM. Hello to All. Wow - sounds like our betsy has her hands FULL FULL FULL! I echo the thoughts being sent to Jentu, Skn, and Connie that you all start feeling better (and the horses, too). Aly - we're going get O to come to the cabin with us!
I'm going to do something new today - a neighbor asked if I wanted to go to her fitness club/gym with her for a free month. Yikes! I'm kind of nervous. The last time I was ever in a gym, was before they invented the "step" part of step-aerobics! I'm not sure if they even had treadmills! Honest - it was like 26 years ago.
I don't even own any exercise clothes. I wear my oldest, falling-off-my-hips (a good thing!) shorts for at-home exercise and walking. I do have a new blue tank top, so I'm going to go out to Target today and get a decent pair of athletic shorts to go with it.
Wish me luck out there in the foreign land of exercise machinery! I'll let you know how it goes.
Happy Wednesday all - Sue
*avoiding work*
Sue, good luck! I don't know how to speak the language in that strange land...do you need a passport?![]()
O to my cabin?? I had better start cleaning NOW!
*sighing*
back to work...
Checking in...
Sprained my ankle last night trying to give Rusty pain killer for his sore shoulder after the rodeo with the vet... how ironic. Emailed a trainer while crying in pain, self pity, and despair...![]()
Back down to low weight for this diet cycle after bobbing around. I hope it sticks this time. Lunch will be a challenge... client's paying and I have to order from a resturant which doesn't have nutritional values so I don't know how to log or judge. I'm having a salad with dressing on the side but it's a kind of weird salad. The name of it is Totally Tubular Salad because it has penne pasta in it (restaurant's name is Silly's if that gives you an idea of how weird.)
Hope everyone's having a good day.
PS: Aly-if you want me to feel at home in your cabin then don't clean it!![]()
Jenny, BUMMER! hope it heals super fast! a weight low always helps cure what ails you. You made me LOL about the cleaning! No problem there, I might manage to resist cleaning for a while!![]()
I am home alone right now and we are in a massive series of storms. I think this is about day ten of the 40...! I'm seeing small animals traveling in pairs...hmmm
Worst of all, it is my kids are all spread around town, and streets are flooded by the 4.4 inches of rain we just got in the last hour! Going to be praying my babies home tonight!![]()
*several hours later*...what a wild night! why does this have to happen when hubby is at the cabin?!? son called, stalled in a flooded intersection. took two attempts to find a road that I could cross to get close enough that he could wade to me. one down, two to go. Tried to get into town to get daughter #2 stuck at target, couldn't, well, I got to town but couldn't get close to target. a friend with a higher truck came from a different direction and managed to pick her and her best friend up. they are now drying out at their house. two down, one to go. Oldest was out with boyfriend when his family called, water pouring int their basement. They made it in his truck and are hauling boxes madly out of basement while her boyfriend and his dad try to get sump pumps working. Mind you, every bit of this driving was against county orders...all roads are officially CLOSED. Our freeway is empty, (except for water) but the new gas station closest to our house (5 miles) has about 75 stranded people drinking coffee and trying to figure a way out. ( I got out by dodging road blocks, driving through water, and PRAYING hard. Wow, I must be wound pretty tight! look at that paragraph....sorry, all this leaves me more than a might jumpy...oh, and it is still raining...
Oh my gosh, Aly, I can't believe what you, your family and neighbors are going through. Please keep safe. Sending lots of love and prayers your way. Sue
just to finish the story: it is 1:30 am and I just got home from the final round of kid rescuing. My middle daughter and her best friend really wanted to come home, so oldest (BF had brought her home) and I ventured in, again. The phrase "you can't get there from here" is what applies to most of Oshkosh. so we got as close as we could and oldest waded in while younger waded out. I piled them all, sopping wet, into my poor soggy car and did my tortured route back home. My hot water heater is getting a work out with hot showers as we speak. But I got all my babies home...
So endeth one heck of a day.
Sure is quiet around here - how's everyone doing?
Alylou, I'm so relieved that your kids are safe. I keep seeing reports on the news about all this terrible flooding and the awful tornadoes, too. Boy, you have really been through a lot. I hope your weekend is peace-filled.
Not much else to say - I did venture into the "foreign land" of exercising on Wednesday when I went with my friend to the local gym. It was okay. I liked some of it, and didn't like others. I went back this morning to meet with one of the trainers (and get the 'hard sell' on gym membership). In some ways it seems like a good idea - but I wonder if I will be committed to going regularly. I've got a free month to play with and make my decision,
Take care everyone and I hope you all have a nice weekend. Sue
Hi all! Gosh I can't type long but wanted you girls to know I might not be typing but will be praying alot for you. I am staying in touch just not much up to my usual comments. One more sad note to add to everyone elses. A friend of mine died Wednesday unexpectantly 49 years old. I don't know what happened and can't get in touch with his girlfriend..... THINGS HAVE GOT TO GET BETTER FOR ALL OF US SOON! Gonna go take pain meds and lie down! Be safe Aly. Jen take care of yourself! EVERYBODYS just dying to compete with my hurt arm aren't you! LOL Connie Oh one last comment (of course) the arm comes in VERY handy when my neighbor asks me to go to the gym!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm here.. looking at a mountain of slipper photographs to retouch... working weekend for me! Ankle's ok, bruised and swollen but I'm able to hobble. I checked with my sister the PT PhD and she said do what I'm doing, so I'll have my foot up while I work. Maybe time for one of Connie's famous Pina Coladas.
Aly-I saw tornado warnings in Oshkosh and was definitely sending prayers for your and your family's safety. How scary! Is your house/basement ok? And the cabin? And hubby? The weather's just getting weirder and weirder.
Sue-I have tried a bunch of gyms... the only one I liked was the YMCA because there were skinny little kids and fat old folks and everyone in between. I also liked the aerobic class where the instructor yelled at us... hmmm... what does that mean? A year ago I joined Planet Fitness with my kids... YUCK! We unjoined not too long ago. They have signs everywhere about "No Judgement Zone" but when you see all the buff people... well. I didn't like it. But YMMV and they're not all like that so go for it girl! I'll toast you with a Colada.
I got an excellent (horse) trainer who is going to take Rusty to her farm on Sunday. I'm SO relieved!! We can't really afford it but I can't let things continue the way they are. It's worth the peace of mind. I know it's helping my state of mind to have someone helping me.
Today I had to take hubby's car in to the shop for it's 65k checkup and wait for it. I actually found a gas station next to the dealer celebrating their grand opening by selling gas at $3.97 so I filled up, whoopee! Bad news is I had an evil McDonald's Breakfast sandwich. Good news is it made me a little nauseous! But I bet I get a gain tomorrow on the scale due to SALT. It was yummy though **sigh**
So what happened to our new people?
Jenny
PS: Oh Connie, I was typing up my post when I saw your's come in! So sorry about your friend! That's WAY too young!! I also just heard that Tim Russert died today at 58. So sad.
Just checking in......everything's too busy here and I'm exhausted but I wanted to say hi to everyone. Looks like a lot of bad things have been happening, I'll be praying for you all! Gotta go try to get some sleep now, there's more to do in the morning!
Betsy
Hi friends! Well here I am up at 5:oo a.m. can't sleep arm hurting and mind going in every direction. For the first time probably in my life I'm not even hungry. I am usually a big STRESS eater. I have floated back up to 136 again and I really don't know how these days. Lack of exercise possibly. I am not complaining though because I can remember when at almost 170 I thought I would never be able to even get down to 150! I have to smile when I realize that not only did I succeed at the 150 mark but got into the 130's. Pat pat pat on the back.
Boy we have got to get back to our happy little sarcastic fun loving "loser" selves! Maybe the weather the ankles the arms the horses etc will all be MUCH MUCH BETTER this week. I have to say I can't wait to go to the doctor Monday.....that's not like me believe me!!!! I keep noticing pains in other areas and i am really beginning to worry so the doc hopefully will figure it out and it will be something easily cured!!!!! RIGHT LADIES!!!!?????
I really don't want to have to use the pina straw to type with....
. Well I suppose I will try and get comfortable and hopefully be back to my nutty little self (that you all know and love) soon! Oh did you all see where Oprah had a mom and two or three daughters who lost hundreds of pounds together!!!! Now that shoulda been us girls!!! Maybe by the time we are ready to have our 15 minutes of fame the world will be ready for another weight loss story. The comedians that we all are should count for a ratings plus!!! Have a safe and happy weekend! Connie
Hello all!
Well you can all remove me and my soggy tribe from your worry list.
We have a car that might be a total loss, and my car got a flat from some junk I must have driven over/through but tow trucks are a wonderful invention and a full day later, I am with a new tire and up at the cabin. Sue, thanks so much for post 369, it came right when I was needing it.
Jenny, the cabin is five hours away from Oshkosh, so it saw just a touch of rain, and hubby just had to pray that I was up to dealing with it all on my own!![]()
*sigh* Sun is dappling through the trees and my blood pressure is falling like it stepped off a cliff.
Connie, I most certainly don't like the sound of you having MORE pains! you are going the wrong way, less, that is the idea!
I am so sorry about your friend, I hope you hear news soon. This life thing, it seems that every time we try to plan it out, or make predictions, it jumps up with a "surprise" and sets us on our heels.
Jenny, take care of that ankle, glad you have good advice...including connie's pina coladas
.
Skin, I have lost track..have you been to the PT for the hip yet? How is it going, is the hip any better? And didn't you mention a trip to Gettysburg? I love that place, so amazing to stand on the spot of so much bravery.
Betsy, thinking about you and praying for all your travels.
I think I hear a nap calling....
Aly-SO glad to know you and your family are all ok. Too bad about the car but things can be replaced right?
Connie-It's ok that you're not "your nutty self" right now. You're still a LOSER.
I have a hard time not cracking jokes myself when things are tough but it's got to be ok when we're having a hard time to be real. I hope your arm is a quick easy fix. It sucks being injured. I can relate.
My ill mannered horse went to boarding school today. It was a fight to get him on the trailer but the trainer did a GREAT job and no one got hurt. He's a fighter that one. And the trainer's commentary while she worked with him was right on in terms of seeing his personality so I am very glad she was able to take him. I am very relieved. My other guy is unhappy and calling for Rusty a lot but I know he'll settle down eventually.
Ankle's getting better day but day. I got a magnificent bruise on the whole side of my foot from my ankle bone all the way to my toes. It looks worse than it feels now though.
I guess I'm not a stress eater because I've hardly been eating my calories. I think I eat more when I'm bored or tired. Oh who knows... it could also be side a effect of the new antidepressant. That would be ok with me!
Betsy-you must be going a bit nuts with preparations for the new kid. I hope things go smoothly both here and in China. I used to think we'd adopt once our kids grew up but now that they're teens I can't imagine having the energy for a little one. You must be an energetic angel.
Sue/Mom-I saw it's 104 in Tucson... are you dying up in Phoenixland?
Sue/Skn-tomorrow's the hip right? Good luck. As with Connie. I hope it's a quick easy fix
Hope to hear from all you others soon!
Jenny
Good morning - I echo everyone's comments regarding good wishes to our injured friends (that includes horses) and to each of you facing the losses of friends, possessions, or having simply too much to do. You are all such a great group, I hope things are going okay for everyone this Monday.
Wow - that seemed kind of serious, didn't it? I watched a very moving interview on the Today show this AM from Tim Russert's son, Luke. Did anyone else see it? Maybe that's why I am writing so seriously today.
Anyhow, my dear daughter went off for a week of summer church camp yesterday (yes, she left on Father's day). I really hate when she is gone but I know she's having a great time. My big problem is that they confiscate all cell-phones and she can't call home (unless, of course, there's an emergency). She goes to lots of camps, trainings, etc and I'm getting used to her being gone (maybe preparing me for the shock of college to come) but I hate when I can't at least receive a text from her. So, things feel a little incomplete around here.
My son is going to a clinic for TaeKwonDo "sparring" (new green belt level) today. He sometimes has some anxiety over new things like this, so I am hopeful it will go well for him this afternoon.
We enjoyed a nice Father's Day yesterday - even went out for a Mexican food brunch. Luckily they had tons of terrific fresh fruit and some other lower cal. options so I indulged a little (spicy bbq ribs and cheese enchiladas and choc-covered strawberries) and also ate lots of salad and fruit. (And a little margarita, of course).
It is HOT HOT HOT
here - averaging 110 or more all week. And, I don't care what they say about a 'dry' heat, 110+ is still too hot for humans.
I have successfully passed the 30 pounds lost point. I always wait about 3 days to make sure it "sticks" but it has stayed there, plus a few ounces more, for a few days now, so I can finally say it out loud. I have gone back to the gym on my trial membership 2 more times. I'm thinking about joining . .hmmm, what to do? At least it would give me someplace cool to exercise during our hot summer (which lasts until about October in AZ).
Bye all - Sue
Happy Monday!!!
Jenny - so sorry to hear about the ankle but glad to hear you went down to a new weight low. Must feel great!! Ugh - working weekend - how did that go? Did you have lunch at Silly's? or is that slated for today? Glad to hear Rusty got off to "boot camp" without further trauma!!
Alylou - WOW, you have seen some action in the last few days!!! It is pretty nerve-wracking to have your children all over the county during nasty weather, but glad you were able to safely get them all back to the nest. Today is the PT appt for hip... so I will let you all know what they suggest. ... and yes, the week of July 4th is our trek to Gettysburg. Glad to hear the car is back on "all 4 tires" and that you got some down-time at the cabin.
Sue - I keep wondering if a gym membership is something I can/would use. You will have to keep us posted on how it goes for the trial month.
Connie - I was so sorry to read of the loss of your friend (at such a young age too).
It does make one treasure their own moments a bit more!
Hi Betsy ... and to the rest of the gang too!!!
I kept busy over the weekend - moving hay, fixing fence and harvesting nettles for tea. Now back to work (where I can relax!!).
skn
Ok just quickly wanted to say hi to everyone and update my arm status. I did go to the doc today and although he is wanting to do an MRI he almost certain I have a herniated disc in my neck and some other medical term I forget about the pain in my leg coming from the neck as well. I am on more anti-inflammatory and very DRUGGING pain meds for a week then either PT or chiropractor will be decided after this week of different meds. I am in bad pain and feel so drugged right now. I wish everyone the best with each situation and hope you all won't forget me if I don't write for a few days/week.....I will be thinking about you all for sure. The official dreaded doctor scale with all clothes and shoes on weighed me at 135. I am pretty happy with that though. I'll be back when I can friends! Everyone take care Connie
Why did I lose weight but gain body fat?
