I plateaued over the weekend and I'm not even remotely bothered by it. I only really cheated on my sodium intake and I'm drinking a LOT of water to fix all that.

I was SOOO excited on Thursday. I was down to 245 and has ONE more pound to go to have lost 10% of my body weight (which is my first goal). And then I yo-yo-ed and I'm back at 246. (oh well)

Hang on Rebepi you will get there. I weighed myself this morning and up another pound. Do you think it could still be from the beer I drank Sat.? Maybe I am still holding on to water
#344 texasteach Aug 06 2007 18:22
rebepi... i've been "plateaued" for two weeks now.. one pound comes off... one goes on... sooooo... I took pictures today and compared them to pictures I took two weeks ago....

Yes.. .I'm obsessive... but I think I can tell a difference...

Actually, I would ask that all of my 200+ buddies... Please be honest Take a look at all of my recent pictures.  Do you see changes?
#345 texasteach Aug 06 2007 18:24
By the way, trapp... not that I'm any expert, but it always takes until the SECOND day for a "binge" to appear on me... not sure why!

But remember, don't be upset about it AT ALL... You KNEW you were going to indulge at that BBQ... you planned for it... and you STILL did better than you thought you would!

Hubby and I are going for a wine tasting thing at a BBQ place on Wed. so I'm eating extra light today and tomorrow to prepare for it.. but as long as I keep those calories under 2500...yup.. that's right... 2500 (I generally only eat 1200-1500 a day) I'll be okay with it!

*double post(*  (oops!)

I just looked at all of the new pictures you had up and I can definitley tell a difference. You look like you lost inches, although I know you said you measured and you hadn't.

That seems really odd. You look great though!!!

Congratulations on looking thinner even though you say nothing happened! haha =)
#348 texasteach Aug 06 2007 18:47
You mean on the plateau pick?   Me in the same clothes?  Really?

and I may have mistyped... I DO NOT measure... so I don't know if I lost inches... I just know the clothes don't feel different! (I do feel like I LOOK different, however)

But thank you for the compliment.

Ok, I know it's only a start, but..... I've lost my first 5 pounds!!!!!! This is a big deal for me, because I have been watching what I eat for about a week now, and I have never really been all that successful before....  Also, my mother, who is morbidly obese and housebound, is also losing weight!  I am so happy!  She can't weigh, but I can tell by looking at her and she can tell that walking is a little easier.  I am more happy about that than I am about myself; I could just cry!

Tamara - I agree; you look like you have lost some inches.  Congrats!

I have a question for, well, whoever can answer it.  I go to Curves and maintain a certain heartrate for 30 minutes.  Does anyone know a formula for figuring out how much I am burning based on my heartrate and weight?  Thanks.
#350 jessicarm Aug 06 2007 19:20
Oooo.... I just read some of the other posts above.... I really like the goal of losing 10% of your body weight.... I have that goal, too, now!!  :D
#351 trapp32 Aug 06 2007 20:31
Jessicarm- Congrats that is great I am so happy for you and your mother.
#352 amobailar Aug 06 2007 20:38
Hey count me in!

I'm 26 years old; I am 5'8 and weigh 247. I would like to get down to 160; that's 87 pounds I want to lose.  Think that's feasible in a year?
#353 trapp32 Aug 06 2007 21:20
Welcome amobailar! Yes you goal is doable. Good Luck!
#354 texasteach Aug 06 2007 21:32
Hey amobailar...

It's definitley doable... SEVERAL people around here have lost that much in 7 or 8 months... (myself included... 168 in 6 months)... one warning to you... don't look at your goal weight as a "finish line"... this is a lifetime thing... otherwise... several people on here have GAINED that much, too... (myself included!   75 pounds in 3 years!)

This place has the best support around... bar none!
#355 rebepi Aug 07 2007 13:36
I agree with tamara. That's why I make little goals to improve my health, and not just to look better (although that's a plus).

I have a general "end" goal (around 160). But really I just want to see what I feel like when I get there. If I'm happier heavier, great, if lighter, great.

Then I can maintenance maintenance maintenance.

One of my friends asked me yesterday how long I had to be on this "diet thing". I told her it was a lifetime deal. She looked at me like I had two heads and made some pithy comment I didn't really listen to.

Ever since I started on this diet she's been really weird. She keeps claiming that she's on a diet too and how's she already lost all this weight (actually she gained 10 pounds, really she fessed up). I think she's worried that I'll actually stick to this and end up a lot smaller than she is (she's about 200 lbs at a size 15/16). I definitley plan on being smaller than that. I bet she actually goes on a diet when I get close to her size.

I'm feeling bitter because she's never supportive and ... I don't know. She been really bothering me lately.
#356 trapp32 Aug 07 2007 14:10
I know exactly how you feel. I have had the same group of friends since high school and pretty much we are all big girls. Well everytime I am with them one always says that she is noticing a difference and the other two who happen to be sisters always find the flaws. I hate that just because they can't stick to anything they got to bring others down with them.
#357 texasteach Aug 07 2007 14:12
rebB... sabotagers!  When I took behavioral classes that was a big thing we were supposed to watch out for!

My grandmother would watch me come in from a workout and say"  "It's so sad... you've been working out so hard for so long, but you're still so big... Don't you want to quit?"  OR "Oh, all these tops are getting too big for me.  It's such a shame they'd still be too small for you."  Like I want her grandma shirts anyway!!  *lol*... and what's funny... is I was SMALLER than she was.  My mom made me prove it to her one time by putting on one of her "too small" shirts!   *lol*

My sister-in-law, whom I love, has a DIFFERENT kind of sabotage.  I was ten pounds heavier than she was and the same height when WE started this journey.  For about two weeks she was totally into it with me... support buddy talking, working through it... and then... she disappeared... when I started talking to her about things that WEREN'T diet related... she started talking to me again... (whatever... I'm five pounds thinner than she is now!)

Which brings me to the way that I "combat" sabotagers... I am a naturally COMPETITIVE person...  (not necessarily the NICEST quality, I admit... but I am...)  and when I can do it.. but they can't... I look at it as a victory instead of getting resentful...

NOW>.. don't get me wrong... it would thrill me to no end if EVERYONE could be successful... (I just want to be the MOST successful... *lol*)
#358 rebepi Aug 07 2007 14:53
Tamara: I'm the same way. I want to stick with this to prove everyone wrong. That I actually can do it and will do it.

That particular friend though, I really want to show her that I can be thin. I think she's having an issue with my diet because she's actually afraid that sooner rather than later, she'll be the "fat" kid in our group of friends.

I can't wait to not be the "fat friend".
#359 lorabear Aug 07 2007 15:02
It all boils down to just one word jealousy ! It helps others to make themselves feel better because they aren?t doing the same thing. Most of the time we hang with people we have something in common with and sometimes that is eating or weight You got to love those that love to sabotage us! lol.

Ya sabatogers are everywhere and it doens't have to be just about weight related issues either.  I decided to go vegetarian because I have read how bad meat is these days and I wanted to try it.  Well, my friend was never supportive.  She even scoffed several times and said "she's a 'vegetarian'".  We just have to keep focused and support each other.
