Thanks to Calorie-Count it's very easy to track my fiber intake, but I find that when I'm eating healthier, I'm consuming more high fiber foods automatically. The fiber in whole grains and vegetables really adds up!
As far as progress, I only set up my goals two days ago, so no progress report yet.
I do track my fiber, somewhat - as in if I log then I use the analysis tool to check. Anywhere between 20-50 grams is fine by me. I try to pick snacks like fiberone bars or fiber one cereal from time to time. I also try to eat lots of veggies and a reasonable amount of whole grains. I bought a case of Fiber Gourmet noodles a while back and I'm working my way through them. I probably won't order another case as I've found Flax noodles at Trader Joe's and I'm interested in some of the health benefits from flax. I've also started making my morning smoothie with the Kashi protein powder which has fiber in it.
Right now, my progress is on a stall since I'm sick. I don't feel well enough to get much exercise right now although I'm hoping to do jiu jitsu tomorrow or at least walk to work. I'm also just eating whatever I feel like and letting it go at that instead of logging things.
Now THIS is how to work out!
Hilarious!

I just wanted to share something that was very exciting for me today! I finally broke down and bought a heart rate monitor after much deliberation. Decided on the women's Polar F6 over the F11 for price and I decided that the F6 does everything I really need. So, I took it out for my first test run...and boy is it great! I found out that I was probably always over my cardio range when walking and jogging. I had to walk very slow to be in the light range that is supposed to be best for fat loss...which was kind of disappointing, but good to know. It really motivated me to keep going, especially since it took longer to get worn out. Walked for just under two hours and burned...wait for it...1139 calories!!! Took turns walking with some jogging in all the heart rate zones. The time was just flying by. I think I may up my goal to 1000 cal a day burned with exercise. Let's see how I feel tomorrow. Also...if I continue that, will have to way up my calories eaten! Hmm, I think I could live with that! Can't wait to be in better shape so it takes more effort to burn as many calories!
As for fiber...don't really have a daily goal or anything. Although I have been watching my labels a little bit more closely as of late. :)
Hope everyone had a great day!
What went wrong #1 : Had a blowout/flat tire while biking 5 miles away from home. Tire came completely off the rim, so I really couldn't walk it home without harming the bike. Anyway, after a lot of phone calls, much patience (and some creepy guy in a truck offered to help ... EEEEK), my neighbor finally came home, got her answering machine message, called me back, came and got me (and my bike!) My bike has now been repaired (I replaced both tubes with heavy duty ones!)
What went wrong #2: I checked online for my wonderful DH's mid-month pay stub and, instead of showing the normal expected mid-month amount, it showed less than one-third the normal amount, with no explanation. Double EEEK EEEK! I don't know how the rest of the world works, but our budget presupposed a complete paycheck twice a month, ya know? Anyway, I have a phone call/email into the pay people, for an explanation. (Why do I suspect I won't be happy with the explanation?) Why do they wait for him to deploy overseas to a combat zone to screw up his pay!?!?
Other Stuff: My neighbor came over this evening with the three bids on getting our side fence replaced. Our half of the cost will be $750. (Of course, we've already spent $200 to have a tree removed, lattice torn down, and bushes removed in preparation ... plus afterward I'll need to buy new bushes and new lattice. Oh well, it's only money, right?) Hopefully, we'll be able to get the fence installed before the end of June .... then I can see about getting replacement lattice and replacement bushes. (Assuming we get the pay situation fixed!)
Our three kittens get "fixed" tomorrow ... so I gave them lots of extra love and attention today. I drop them off at 7:15am Thursday, and I pick them up around the same time on Friday morning. Tomorrow will be a relatively quiet day around here ... but I have a girlfriend coming over to help me hang some stuff (she's bringing her drill!)
Anyway, despite my biking mishap, I regrouped and biked 10.5 miles today ... not too bad considering we had 45mph wind gusts at times! I ate clean today (normal breakfast, normal lunch) ... dinner was 2 vegetarian patties, a Thomas' light multigrain english muffin, some radishes, 3 servings of mushroom and 3 servings of asparagus.... pretty basic, pretty simple, pretty fast and easy. And I've really been trying to drink plenty of water, too. OK ... I'm eating right. I'm getting exercise. Now if only the scale would cooperate!!!!

Fiber questions...
I haven't really been shooting for anything specific. For some reason I have found getting enough fiber (naturally) a little difficult. I guess I just don't eat the right things. I have been trying lately to snack on Fiber One cereal, and that has helped.
I have been quite impressed with all of you who have your fiber intake taken care of. And boy, those of you getting anything over 50 a day, whew, I don't think my system could handle that! Maybe I'll have to work up to that over the next few months.
My daughter and I have been biking every evening, nothing to the extent of Molly mind you, but it sure feels like a lot to me! It's been great though, it's funny how the neighborhoods look so different when you're on a bike!
Checking in on my goals:
1. More water- YES! I've been drinking at least 60oz a day!
2. Exercise- YES! Love the bike! (And will be looking into the Hawaii chair, thanks digigirl!)
3. Logging- YES! Every last M&M, *sigh*
4. 20lbs lost- I wish, only time will tell
5. Posting- YES! (duh!)
6. No flirting with IT guy- Oooops, failed! But he asked me out for Friday night, is that ok? heehee!
Off to drink my water before bed! Happy dreams!
digigirl...that Hawaii-chair is brilliant!!! Ellen is the best and I laughed so hard once i saw it.
luzd...thank for the non-smoking support. I actually don't crave it as much as I did, thank goodness, only when i drink which is not so often since i am really careful about calories in alcohol.
molly...i hope the money situation works out. It's such a pain in the butt trying to figure out what heck is happening with money not coming in, but you are probably burning calories from being frustrated on the phone!! ![]()
bonsfam...awesome that you got asked out by the guy you've been flirting with for a while!!! Have fun on Friday and i hope you fill us in!!!
Fiber...i haven't really paid attention to how much fiber I eat. I should start though since it's so easy to track with the CC tracker.
Tonight, my in-laws are coming into town because it is the birthday of my husband's father. We are going to a fancy French restaurant where they have 7 course meals and I'm pretty sure that the parents will order for us (I probably will have not choice in it, unless I want to be rude). I know it's going to be high in calories and fat because the French LOVE to use butter, creamy sauces, froi grois and sugar. Oh well, i guess today is the day where I will blow my caloric intake, but I will enjoy every bite of the heavenly goodness and just eat less and work out before tonight's dinner.
Happy Thursday, everyone!!!

Healthy: Miso soup and salad with ginger dressing as an appetizer, and a nice platter of nigori sushi and sashimi with extra shiro maguro!
Not healthy: An extra rare fillet mignon with a wine reduction sauce, mashed potatoes with herbed butter, and asparagus with hollendaise sauce

Took the words right out of my mouth!

I don't know. I don't know expensive foods. I only know foods that are healthy or not healthy.
Ruth's Crisp Steakhouse ($$$).
Healthy: Spinach salad, steak with mustard sauce, sauteed asparagus, bread and butter. Fresh fruit for dessert.
Unhealthy: Ruth's chop salad (has bacon, dressing, avocado), mashed potatoes, Bacon wrapped filet mignon, asparagus, bread and butter, and chocolate lava cake for dessert.

Healthy: mixed greens salad with beautifully ripened grape tomatoes, fresh basil and sprinkles of feta cheese, cedar grilled salmon, grilled asparagus, squash...
Don't care: open with tomato mozzarella salad with fresh basil, dressed in olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette, buttery steak with blue cheese, augratin potatoes, creamed spinach, bread and butter, for dessert it can only be creme brulee.
Whose idea of torture was it to make us think up these great meals we aren't eating? ![]()

Healthy would have to be grilled lemon pepper chicken, steamed veggies, & a side salad..I know not really an expensive meal, but so yummy!
Not Healthy would definitely have to be Red Lobster! I love their shrimp and crab cakes & cheddar bay biscuits are to die for! Yummy!! Now I am so hungry for it!

Ooh, that's a good one!
I think my dream healthy dinner would be black truffle and wild mushroom risotto with white asparagus in lemon garlic sauce and steamed artichokes. Dessert would be mixed berries.
My not so healthy dinner would be pretty similar, but with some additions: black truffle and wild mushroom with tons of manchego cheese and some heavy cream, asparagus with lemon garlic hollandaise, and steamed artichokes dipped in aioli. Dessert would be mixed berry cobbler with vanilla gelato.
The funny thing is, even writing that didn't make me hungry. I just ate a massive plate of stir fried brussels sprouts, red pepper, snow peas, yellow squash, and zucchini. I'm completely stuffed.
I am just not feeling particularly talkative tonight ... so this will be short and sweet. I only biked 2 miles today -- just had a lot going on today. And I think I ate close to maintenance calories today. Oh well ... tomorrow will be better.
The military pay people had a really long and complicated explanation for the pay mishap, but have promised things will be rectified by July 15 (40 days from now). I will just use money from savings until things get straightened out... but have to say that it is pretty frustrating to have this occur 2 summers in a row.
I dropped off the kittens at 7am this morning to get "fixed" ... so it's been very quiet around here today. I will pick them up tomorrow morning. After I dropped them off I went to 2 different stores, then met my kitten-adopting neighbor to go kitten supply shopping, By the time I got home around noon, it was waaaay too hot to bike.
My girlfriend Laura came over in the afternoon with her power tools (Woot! Woot!) and hung up my new stained glass pieces, and also installed the plastic opaque window film in the laundry room that I was just too inept/clumsy to get installed. Afterward, we went for italian ice (mine was sugar free!)
The gardeners came back today and removed the stump. They also did their normal mowing and edging this afternoon ... rather than coming back tomorrow morning. Looks like my part is all done in preparation for the old fence removal/new fence installation.... our neighbor is going to try to schedule things for late next week.
My girlfriend Di came over after work, and has been hanging out with me tonight .... petting kitties and watching tv... so no biking for me before it got dark. Besides, it's still well over 80 degrees and it's after 9pm. Maybe I can get in some biking tomorrow after I pick up kittens.
