HI! My name is Laura and i am 5-5 and 235 lbs as of today. I did weigh 240 almot 2 weeks ago. I am counting calories cuz I do not know what ele to do. When i gave birth, I only weighed 201 lbs! My son is 5(his bday is halloween). I cant believe i have put on so much lately. I have high blood pressure so I am on Diovan. I am also on protonix( for heartburn). I took myself off depo provera lat Sept and currently have the IUD, Mirena. Birth control was part of it but that is why I switched to IUD. I am taking it slow, and watching what I eat. I guess I am supposed to stay under 1700 calories and I walked 20 minutes today. I hate exercise now but I have to do it to lose weight the old fashioned Way!
if you have any suggestions, please tell me....

Hi everyone! I'm ssoo excited, and for a couple of reasons! First, I'm disabled and get very little excerise and yesterday I was able to start on pool therapy! I love it!  I could move so much better in the water.  Of course, after so much inactivity, I overdid, lol, and am major sore/stiff.  But, still, I can see where it will help ssoo much!

And, today I made my second mini goal! I've lost 30 lbs since I started here on 1/1/07. I'm eating more than ever, and feeling so much better about myself.  Of course, I have a long long way to go, I still need to lose about 95 more, but it's a start. And the best thing, is that I feel like this is something I can live with.  YIPEE!!
#324 itsmytime Mar 31 2007 14:20
wow scott14~~~~~~30 pounds is awesome!!!!!!  don't worry about what you have left to go ( i can't think like that, my head will hurt!!)  congrats on the pool therapy!  I bet that is amazing!!

keep it up and keep us posted!!

okay, all, here is a toast to the weekend (holds up coffee) ....
#325 valsgoal Mar 31 2007 16:21
Good Morning All!!!

Hi scott14, congrats on your 20#!  :)  Pool therapy sounds refreshing...

OK, I just got off the phone with my mom about Easter.  We usually have a ham or go out to eat.  I threw out the idea to do some form of pot roast with veggies and potatoes and sides.  Best yet, it'll be at my house which means I'll have control on preperation of the major dishes.  :)  I'm a bit excited and will have to surf some of the recipes to keep it as healthy as possible.  If anyone has any I can go directly to and check out...suggestions are most welcome!!! (The recipe library is pretty darn scary)

grrr I"m so mad. So with what I weighed today, I only lost 5.8 pounds thismonth. That is way far from 8 pounds a month! I think I need to go shopping, maybe that will help. But it's so frustrating! I basically lost nothing the past week adn a half! It just gets so discouraging when the numbers don't go down like I want them too. I'm thinking maybe cut out all drinking (usually have a glass of wine at night) except for one or two nights a week. Maybe that will help? I love seeing all youguys who have lost like 20-30 pounds this year so far and I want to be like you! me=jealous :)

I'm back, I'm back, I'm back....

I've been really busy the past few days and *kaboom* we got a major influx of new people!  Welcome to everyone, this truely is a great forum it keeps me going!

Congratulations on all of you with your successes and those of you with minor setbacks, hang in there.

Yesterday, I went to visit an old friend of mine and we did our usual.  Meals together and lots of shopping therapy!  Unfortunately, calorie and nutrition wise, it's been a bad start to the weekend.  However, we walked most of the day, laughed, giggled and was just all around silly.  Oh and of course we exercised our jaw muscles and did some gabbing too!  I had a great time!  I couldn't believe how tired I was by the end of the day.  It must be all the fresh air and shopping!

Oh, I was good for dinner, I ordered a grilled chicken and garlic shrimp.  Yummy!  I did eat the veggies but, didn't touch the rice that came with it.  So, I was bad for one meal but, good for another.

Alright...off to the grocery store!  I'll check in later.

Hello everybody,

Shopping therapy would be, will be great once I can slim down enough to fit the clothes on the rail.  I live in Scotland and you really struggle to get the larger sizes and then they dont really adapt the styles for us larger ladies.  Crop tops in a size 24 are scary FOR EVERYBODY!
#329 rockinmama Mar 31 2007 20:12
OH elaine you put me in stitches with that....Ya I can't imagine me walking down the street in a crop top with my belly jiggling all over the place....heeeheeehee...lol.  That would be scary...for everybody...heehee.

hyechong-  you're back....missed you.  Glad you had fun with you friend.  And good for you on the good food choices.

katie- 5.8 pounds is good honey.  Don't get discouraged.  Sometimes the weight is really stubborn and doesn't come off like we think it should.  But it will,  give it time hon. :)  I agree though.  Try not having the wine and beer and see what happens.  Other boards posted some alchohol drinks that were lower in calories. Maybe try those.  Chin up sweetie! :)

vk-  I'll have look in my cookbooks and see what I can find for you.  I have lots of LIght and Tasty magazines that have awesome low cal recipes.

scott14- awesome on the 30 lb loss.  Wish I had a pool nearby to go to. I love to swim.

tabby- yuck...5:30 am....I have to get up with hubby at that time every second week.  Hope your day went well!

Hi again all...

A question for you.  I went through some old postings that talked about how to choose your activity level. I felt like I might be cheating to say moderate but then I think I do more than light.  One great posting said to list yourself as sedentary and then add under the activity log everything you do.  (there are activities listed for almost everything I do)  I tried that but now my calories burned is saying that I will burn 3400 (plus - I still have 6.5 hours left until bed time) calories today.  I have been eating 2000 with my husband and have gone down from 275 in January to 247 at the end of March.  I guess I'm not really complaining because 2000 calories is a lot of food(most days).  My point is...how are you guys charting your activity?

Of course I could eat more food but am afraid that I will binge, which I am quite capable of.  Since I am losing I don't want to change anything and I do not get light headed or dizzy or irritable on the 2000.

I don't know why this is bugging me or really what is even bugging me.
#331 hyechong Mar 31 2007 21:37
Oh, I did discover something cool yesterday shopping with my friend...Crocs!  Do you guys know what it is?? I guess they've been on the market for a while and I'm just finding them!  Anyways, if you don't know what they are I highly recommend them.

Crocs are a special foam shoe and they are the lightest, most comfortable things I've ever put on my feet.  I can't believe they are a shoe.  When I put them on and walked around, I felt like a bad kid wearing my slippers outside!  Anyways, it really helped shopping.  My feet weren't even tired at the end of the day!

So, I just had to share my latest find with you guys!
#332 ginnyannb Mar 31 2007 21:38
P.S.>

Thanks to all my new friends.
#333 ktcort13 Mar 31 2007 22:07
ginny- I'm kinda confused about that too b/c when I enter all my activities it's over 3000 but I think 2000 cals is way too much for me to be eating. I've just kinda stuck w/ 1500-1600 cals b/c that's given me some results. But yea, I have no idea really if htat's right or not, I just kinda picked that number b/c it seemed somehwat common lol
#334 hyechong Mar 31 2007 22:54
ginny and kt,

Honestly, I haven't been charting my activity at all.  I've only been concentrating on the calorie counting.  When I initially joined I set my activity level as sedentary.  It said that I should keep my calories around 1300 a day.  I've been shooting for 1650 because I know that I'm more than sedentary and but, not quite light activity.  It seems to be working for me - I'm losing.  I know soon that I'll need to lower my calorie intake so that I can continue to lose.

Hye Chong
#335 rockinmama Mar 31 2007 23:43
Well sorry but I can't be of much help for you guys in the activity counting either.  Cause I just plain don't understand it...llol  Plus to be honest I'm to darn chicken to eat more than 1500 cals no matter how much activity I do.  Mind you maybe that's why I'm not losing as fast either.  Maybe someone will come and explain it all to us....examples and such.
#336 ginnyannb Mar 31 2007 23:49
Thanks for responding...I guess that is what I am afraid of at this point, when I level off, I do not want to have to go lower in calories.  I am happy with 2000 calories.  My husband does 2000 calories as well.  It's not like he is eating and I am not.  I know mentally it would screw me up if I had to cut way down.  I guess at that point I would have to drastically increase my workouts.  I know that each of us are different and have different needs.  I just want to be successful all the way to 185.  Thanks for your help.
#337 itsmytime Apr 01 2007 03:10
ok hyechong...i'm sorry but...where have you been????? lol

i live in Arkansas...and we are generally slow to fashion...but even we have crocs everywhere!!!

I'm just kidding with you!!!  they started off where surgeons wore them b/c they were so comfortable and could withstand long hours of surgery....but they were ugly.  now....they are the hottest thing around!!!

hope all are doing well!  elaine, you had me tickled as well!!  me in a crop top???  yikes!!!  however, in the good ole USA, we have become an obese nation, so, fluffy girl clothes are pretty good...most of the time!!  of course, we are also accustomed to seeing just about anything too..so me in a crop top may not be to unusual... (shivers and quivers)

hi to all...sorry can't respond to all!  doing good just to read em!!
#338 wrrly Apr 01 2007 13:59
