Congrats Brett!!

March weigh in

SW: 340 lbs

FEB 1ST: 228 lbs

MAR 1ST: 218 lbs

FEB LOSS: 10 lbs

TOTAL LOSS: 122 lbs

I can't believe it! I do not know How I lost 10 pounds this month- seriously. I spent about 10 days trying to maintain (had a 6 day conference + several interview lunches) I wouldn't mind a repeat of this in March :-) Only 19 pounds till I'm below 200!!!

#304 sun123 Feb 29 2008 19:49
Glad to see the March 1st coming in.

Brett, wow what a month you had!  Im in awe.  Danielle, you have come so far and to pull off a 10 lbs with your schedule thru February is super - way to go!

By the way, with the few weighing in already for March 1 we've dropped 72 lbs in February!

Went grocery shopping today for healthy foods. Trying to combine counting calories with the Mediterranean Diet. Want a heart healthy low calorie diet. I'm not sure how it will work out. Salad mix, mushrooms, red grapes, strawberries, apples, beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, carrots, sweet potaotes, sugar-free jello, pecans, skinless chicken breasts, tuna, salmon, smoked herring, lite salad dressing, lite mayo, extra virgin olive oil, thin sliced chicken and turkey deli meats, flaxseed bread. These are some of the items I bought. No junk food, no salty snacks. Forgot to buy pasta. Why does it have to be expensive to eat healthy? I bought the Jello because Valerie Bertinelli said it was her favorite dessert, especially with whipped topping - Lite or fat-free. Not something I would normally purchase. Trying to wean myself from red meat and caffeine. I'm having headaches from the caffeine cut back, but I know they'll go away in time.

It's hard to change a lifestyle. I was a farmgirl who was raised eating beef. I love ribeye steaks. I love meat period. But I also could eat turkey everyday. Incorporating a lot of fruits and veggies into my diet is a big change for me. Except for salads - I eat a lot of salads, but lettuce does not have much nutritional value. I look at it as a filler food.

Any meal suggestions or any great recipes for chicken breasts?

A new month is here already and spring is around the corner!

What's your start weight?  305 lbs  (Aug/Sep 2007)
What's your current weight?  249 lbs  (Mar 1, 2008)
What's your goal weight?  185 lbs

Loss this month:  9.5 lbs

Total loss:  56 lbs

For reference, January weight was:  272

February weight was:  258.5

Wow.  I am now four pounds away from my next mini-goal of weighing 245 lbs by May 31, which I set on January 1st.  That is 60 lbs lost - halfway to my long-term goal of a weight of 185 lbs (less than I weighed in 6th grade - LOL!)  I am amazed by how much just BEING AWARE of food - not being mindless about choices and the true calorie counts of foods has changed my life.  You know, we have structure in many other areas of life - it  is a good thing to find the structure that works for me in the food realm.  I also see how little setbacks (out with friends and making higher calorie choices) really does slow me down for a few days.  I am still striving for balance and achieve it fairly well on most days.  Consistency is key for me.  So is convenience.  If I cut up a whole fresh papaya (or other fruit) in disposable screw-top containers I have easy snacks for a few days.  This is PERFECT.  I also now love a fresh grated (yum) apple on top of 1/2 cup cottage cheese.  I am so happy and other areas of my life are flourishing, too.  YEA, ALL OF US!

Korali, your kicked butt!  Great month - so happy for you.  Im with you Tina on preparing food in advance.  I do little cooking so when I do, I want more then one meal from it and good good going with your loss!  Speaking of cooking, Ezra I actually boy pregrilled chicken but if I didnt, I use the foreman grill.  I love it tossed in salads, chopped into cubes with lite mayo, cilantro and onion on whole grain bread or wrapped in a 50cal LaTortilla lowfat lowcarb tortilla with some lite dressing.  Good job on your great loss this month!  Shnitzel - you are almost in the 200s!  Glad to hear of your loss and keep it up.

I will be out until this evening but will post any more updates when I return.  So great to hear everyones progress!!  We've lost 120 lbs!

I see your vacation this month didnt stop you from losing weight and I know for a bit there it seemed like you were plateauing (was that this month?) but happy for you with your loss this month - Go Molly!
#313 miss_cas Mar 02 2008 01:07

Just checking in: current weight is 293.

#314 denise07 Mar 02 2008 06:10

Current weight is 271.6

I mostly maintained in Feb and then gained a few pounds in the last 2 weeks. But, it is hiking season again!

#315 aovermy Mar 02 2008 12:20
Feb start was 266.

Mar start is 262

4 lb may not be a lot, but I'll take it!
#316 suddenly_joy Mar 02 2008 13:58

well this has been a difficult month for me.  I lost my job and have not focused on my weight loss.  I actually gained to 350.00  That sucks!

#317 korali Mar 02 2008 14:43

I bought a new fancy digital scale today ..............

so ya my old normal scale was off ... way off...

So my new weight for march 1st is 318.2 ..... not 309.

I have still lost over 10lbs .. but having thought that i has lost 20 ..well that was awsome ... oh well Ill work harder this month =)

Korali

#318 aovermy Mar 02 2008 16:59
korali,

The thing to remember is that scales tend to be consistently wrong. So if the scale was 9 lb lighter, then it was 9 lb lighter when you originally weighed yourself too, so you still may have lost 20 lb, you just may have started heavier than you thought you were.

#319 sun123 Mar 02 2008 17:17
I agree with avormy - it wouldnt affect your loss as much as your previous  weights being higher and its sounds like your 20 lbs was legit.  Good going aovermy too!

Joy, a job loss is a heavy blow - sorry to hear about that but best wishes seeking new employment.  Dont be hard on yourself though and know we've plenty months ahead of us.  Good luck!
#320 korali Mar 02 2008 18:23

Nah it really would affect it .. cus my first weigh in was at my Dr office =(

So ya .. old scales suck !! go buy a new one .. if yours is ancient like mine was !!

Its  ok tho .. im more motivated than ever .. im thinking that it was a good think .. cuz i was just *eyeing things* .. now im measuring and weighing with the new digital kitchen scale i bought too !!
