Is it true that green tea increases metabolism and helps in weight loss ?my friend suggested jasmine green tea from Trader joe's its exported from India I guess  Has anyone tried it ?

Any suggestions are welcome.

Simar - The lifestyle plan that I follow whole heartedly recommends green tea for health benefits and weight loss.

Hi lose777 - you be blessed also!

Hey everyone, I need some help getting back on the wagon. I took the weekend off from calorie counting for the first time in 4 months! My maid of honor was in town and my friends had a surprise wedding shower for me, and they brought TONS of food. I was basically celebrating all weekend, and athough I don't think I ate TOO badly, I was too focused on social events and not healthy eating. I tried to get people to take most of the leftovers, but my fridge is still full of champagne, muffins, etc. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the encouragement!

First of all... just being ON here...you're back ON the wagon...

Congratulations on the wedding and a fun weekend... how great!   Be excited and happy about the great time you had... don't be worried about the food part... that's in the past so look at the fun of it all.

As far as your fridge being full of stuff... I know that people are starving all over the world... and I know I shouldn't be wasteful... but I would throw it away... it is so much more emotionally expensive to know it's hanging around... and me... I couldn't even throw it in my own trash... I'd have to take it out to the dumpster!

Orrrrrrrrrrrrrr... log all those calories... see where you'd be if you ate just one more muffin...

and I'm going to get redundant saying this... but now way no how does one weekend spoil everything you've done in four months... it takes 3500 ADDITIONAL calories... OVER your daily allotment to gain ONE pound... so if you put on a bunch over the weekend.. it's not real.. it's just your body holding on to carbs!

So welcome back to the wagon!   and happy wedding...

Your welcome simar, I'm glad we are here to support one another. It makes it so much more easier and fun too ;)

Welcome Keitochan we are happy that you joined us :) keep in touch and you will be at your goal before ya know it!

Welcome too lose777 happy to have you aboard :)

Shoe I agree with Tamara you are back on the wagon just by posting. Keep doing what your doing and I also would toss out all of the bad foods unless you can find someone to pass it on to, if not trash it! I say.
#309 shoeofkuribo Aug 01 2007 02:53
Thanks Sarah and Tamara, I appreciate the help! :-) I exercised and I feel a lot better now. I think I'll try giving my extra food to the neighbors!

I was absolutely terrible this whole weekend and I'm glad to be back home and back on track again and I only gained 1/2 a pound!!

How has everyone been??
#311 fayny Aug 01 2007 15:28
Oh I know that weekend gain feeling, but I must say that this past weekend was great for me I lost for a change, instead of gaining or staying the same...so all is good :)  Just call it a "cheat day" which we all need and move on.
#312 trapp32 Aug 01 2007 18:12
Let me ask ya'll a question- How long to you usually carry extra weight while TTOM? I am on my second day now and I weigh in tomorrow and I don't know how seriously to take that weight.
#313 denise07 Aug 01 2007 18:22
trapp32 - For the past two months, I have had a pattern. I put on a bunch of weight before my period and then stay the same weight for the full week of my period plus an additional week. Then, overnight, I drop it all plus some. Last month I dropped to 315 before my period, went up to 322, went back down to 315, stayed there for 2 weeks, then dropped to 311. This month, I got to 305 before my period, stayed there for 2 weeks and even bounched up to 308-309, then dropped this morning to 298 (under 300 for the first time in over 7 years - yes!). I have been eating too much salt, too, so that did not help. I could tell I was retaining water the past few days and I knew this morning I would be lighter because I did not feel so bloated. It can be really discouraging during my monthly two-week "plateau" though!

I would say to only take tomorrow's weight seriously if it is a good one! Selective acceptance!
#314 trapp32 Aug 01 2007 18:34
Denise it is funny you said that because I was telling myself that if I lost I would take it seriously and if I gained I wouldn't. Congrats on being under 300 that's great.

Hi guys

I am new here and was hoping I could join this group? I am 5'3 and 235 (havent checked weight since starting last week though!). I am a yo-yo dieter in the past. Tried Atkins and ended up gaining SO much more weight when I fell off the diet. Am trying to do it right this time with healthy eating, low fat and low calorie and want to start gyming too.

My husband is also doing this but he isnt much support and isnt as serious as me. He came home yesterday with KitKat and cheesecake!!

Shoeofkuribo - Share with neighbors and friends.  Perhaps call some charties if there is  A LOT and ask if they know who could use them.  Local schools are starting back - could it make a nice surprise for the teachers and Admin staff to help start the new year off?

oh and  --- Muffins will freeze.

And don't feel bad - I had a rough time last week and ate 2000+ cals for 4 days in a row < had to put my dog down> - over the course of the month it only increased my cal/ day avg by like 20 cals.  Just say it is ok, leave it in the past, and go FORWARD.

------------------------------------------------------------ ---------------------

I am 5 7 1/2 ( that 1/2 inch is important) <grin>, 40 years of aging, and down to  321 pounds.

I have lost 14" since end of March as of my last taping.

On the long road -- I am not half way through my lifespan yet - and don't want to do it trapped in a body in this condition. Don't wanna be a Ford Mecury <land yacht>  anymore - I wanna be a sleek Mercedes Coup !

Goal to loose to 180 by Nov 2008. That is 2.3 pounds a week. A big CAN DO !           ;           ;           ;           ;           ;           ;           ;           ;           ;   ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------------

I had a lot  nice things happen to me this morning.

1)  My pants felt loose, they felt so loose I checked the fly. : )

2)  I saw a scale on the floor here in my office - just for funsies I stepped on it to it.  I have no "before " weight on it so I have no idea about its accuracy.  But it showed me lowerer than the last scale I got on. !  Nice feeling

3)  On of the controllers at work was asking me questions about nutrition because he knew I was very knowledgable about it.  I thought that was reallly nice.  We discussed foods and various exercise programs.

and then the big one .........

4) A co worker - that I don't know very well - commented to me in the break room that I looked like I had been loosing weight and gave me a big thumbs up.
#317 trapp32 Aug 02 2007 15:38
Well I weighed myself and I was down .2 lbs so not bad condsidering TTOM. I will weigh myself in a few days just to see if it goes down any.
#318 rebepi Aug 02 2007 15:45
Man, I really need to get a scale that weighs by tenths of a pound. Mine only does in .5 and whole numbers. =( Even a little loss makes a difference.

I think I way overate my sodium intake yesterday. I had 6 pickle spears (because they're only 10 cals a piece) Really, it was totally worth it. I love pickles.

Hi!  I am pretty new to cc and am also watching the "Over 200" forum.  I am 5'5.5" and at 354 pounds.  A lot of people don't think I am, because I carry my weight all over, but, I am.... I am a high school biology teacher that likes to read (no surprise), and I am a wildlife rehabber.  I have improved the way I eat in the last few days, but still could be much better.

Any suggestions for this... my biggest downfall - eating chips in the car!  Other than learning how to drive a stick shift.... :)  It's getting better, but still need suggestions.

I am looking forward to getting to know ya'll and celebrate our victories!

Jessica

jessicarm:  Welcome!! I'm looking to become a biology teacher in the near future and I used to eat chips all the time. Especially, cape cod potato chips. (I miss them)

Good luck on learning to drive a stick shift. I've never really been able to get the hang of it. haha.
