hey rettmom
The way I get all the fluids I need is by using the same giant cup every day (of course, throwing in the dishwasher every night). I have the cup marked with a sharpie at the 32 oz point. First thing in the morning - before eating, coffee or anything - is taking my fiber and vites one at a time with that 32 0z of water. I don't let myself eat or have coffee until I've finished that cup! Then, I fill it up again and leave it on the counter. Whenever I walk by it, I take a sip- making sure the whole thing is gone by bedtime. I usually end up adding another 12 oz because I drink it all by the afternoon. Oh yeah, make sure the water is kind-of warm. Cold water hurts the empty stomach. Also, be sure to leave the cup out where everyone knows not to touch it or dump it out. |

Hi!
I'm female, 56, currant wt 229 down from start wt of 235 about two wks ago. Thanks for the great motivation i hope to be able to motivate you all too, in the future. I gained wt for a variety of reasons mostly steming from self sabotage and depression. I am a personal trainer that has thrown my career away by gaining all this weight. I quit my job dec. 23 and had gained up to 240 by new yrs eve, I started to get back into the healthy lifestyle jan, 1 and then was lucky enough to find CC. You guys rock. My goal is 148. I think I will be happy between 155 and 165. We'll see. Good luck to everyone! Janie |

I actually have a question for you guys-
I just started working out last week, and believe me it felt great! I do about 20 mins of cardio, first thing in the morning, and it really gets my heart pumping. Also, at the moment, about 20 mins is all I could take. My question is this- I can't eat first thing in the morning, but I don't want to work out on an empty stomach. So I'd have 2 slices of toast with a cup of tea. Then I'd work out. About 15 mins after I work out, I'd go to jugo juice and get a protein shake (frozen strawberries, 1/2 banana, orange juice, whey protein and ice- 450 cals). I heard that protein shakes are only for people that are trying to body build- so am I doing something wrong, or is this ok under my particular situation? |

Hi, I am new. I am starting my lifestyle change tomorrow, and thought I would see if I can find a good support group. I am currently somewhere between 202 and 210. I keep going back and forth based upon my cycles it seems. Nayway, glad to be here, and I hope I find my way back! |

Well, I joined CC about a week ago and have been monitoring what I ate. I also looked into getting more active, since I have a very sendentary job. I took a yoga class, which i loved and will be going at least once a week until I feel like I am ready for more, but the biggest thing for me is getting moving, so I signed up to participate in the Portland Race for the Roses half marathon as a walker for the Leukemia & Lymphoma team in training. They hooked me up with a coach, and twice a week we go walk as a team to train for the event. They also set me up with a nutritionist to help me make good choices about foods while I am walking and someone to walk FOR that has had non-hodgkins lymphoma. Let me tell ya.. this is just the motivation I needed!! In the last week, between eating better and getting moving, Ive lost 5lbs. I have 64 more to go! Everyone is so motivating on my team. Yesterday I walked 4 miles on the track and NEVER thought I would be able to do it but I took it at my own pace, which they highly encourage and made it all 16 laps around the track! (kept track with skittles..lol.. I kept 16 in my pocket and every time I made a lap I ate one) Im 6ft and currently weigh in at 239lbs...There are alot of people on this team who are doing this not only for the cause, but to lose weight and stay fit. No matter what your fitness goals are, they can help!
Here is the link to my site where you can find more information if you are interested in the program. There is a link to join the team at the top of the page and there are chapters all over the US! http://www.active.com/donate/tntor/Cschrick |

Hi Everyone. I joined this quite a while ago and didn't end up sticking to it but found a new eagerness to start to try and change my life again!! I'm very excited for what lies ahead but also very nervous as I have tried losing weight many times before and have not succeeded. I'm 5'4 and weigh about 230...so I have about 100 pounds to lose. It's scary and a big number but I believe I can do it and that you can all too! We just have to be ehre for each other as much as we can b/c we all understand eachother. Anyways, I wish you all luck in your weight loss journeys!

Well, here I am, I'm currently weighing 209 and I'm sick and tired of it. People always say I carry my weight well and can't believe I weigh that much. But when I look in the mirror or when I'm trying to buy a pants and a size 16 doesn't want to fit, I feel like crying.
I've tried many a diet and excercise, this time I'm determined to get it right. I track my calories and I see to fall under my goal which is 1550, but I feel like I eat so much. I go to gym 4 times a week - 45 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of weight training. I've been doing this now for 5 weeks and I lost 1.2kg in the first 2 weeks, now I'm back to my normal weight again. If there is anyone that can assist me I would really appreciate it and if someone can give me some moral support. xxxx Ant |

| Hi everyone, joined last night and think this site is awesome. I'm 40, 5'10 and weigh 287, which is the heaviest I've ever been. Need to lose 131 but am determined to do it slowly and healthily...no more crash diets. I haven't exercised for years but have recently got up off the couch and begun to move more. Gave up my car last October so having to walk more. At first I could only walk for 5 mins before I would be crippled with lower back pain. Now I can manage 20-30 mins, longer with breaks. Trying to be kinder to myself and to think positively. I've given up expecting to be perfect, I'm happy that I'm trying and making progress. | ||

It has been brutally cold here, making my walks impossible. Also, work has been quite chaotic, so I get home too late to drive to the mall to walk. At least I can shovel snow by hand, which I love to do. That burns some calories. Once we get wind chills that aren't several degrees below zero, I'll start walking again.
I think this is why my weight is fluctuating. The Super Bowl didn't help and my husband bought cookies. Augghhh! I love cookies!! I lectured him not to do that because I just can't keep my hands off them!! |

GBSFAN -
In my "limited" knowledge and experience, the protein shake shouldn't be a problem, as long as you drink plenty of clear fluids (preferably water) as well. High levels of protein can cause kidney problems, so don't overdo. Congrats on getting going on a work-out program. It's not easy, but I know what you mean about it feeling good. I feel good, not only from the physical, but also the mental boost - I feel good knowing I am doing something about my health now. I know it's hard to eat first thing in the morning, but it really would be better overall if you could even just choke down a glass of milk first thing. It gives your body something to work off of. It took me months of "forcing" myself to eat first thing, and now I'm used to it. I just had to think of it as kind of a medical treatment - something I had to do to be healthy. Good luck! Congrats to Quagmire07. Hope to be joining you by the end of the year! I have a ways to go.... But, it can be done. |

| Okay, here's something to think about if you are having trouble losing. I was working out with a trainer, dieting, drinking water, doing everything right and not losing. My doctor said my acid/alkaline level might be off (ph balance) he recommended getting alkaline drops for my water or alkaline tea. I got it at the health food store and have now lost 7 lbs. I am still working out and dieting of course. Apparently if the body is too highly acidic it will slow down the metabolism. | ||

Moooooo move over, there's another club member in town! Alittle about me, well I'm a nut with a weird sense of humour! I started trying to lose weight alittle over 4 months ago after looking at life insurance rates. I learned really quickly that weight matters in $$$ when looking at life insurance, so I decided to do something about it! It's been a real struggle lately... I'm down 40 1/2 lbs and I'm struggling to keep motivated... But I find that this site helps me alot, if for nothing else but seeing that I'm not alone in this. If you haven't already, take pics of yourself at your heaviest and then take them as you lose - Compare them, enjoy what you see ( or don't see ).
Most of all, let's hang in there - It's a long haul that we can do together. Now, where's that twinky.... *KIDDING, JUST KIDDING!* |
