Original Post by mollymouser: SWEET: A square of Dove dark chocolate. I can make that 45 calorie square last through four or five small bites, letting each melt slowly in my mouth. It takes me a good 20-30 minutes to eat one of those rich yummy squares. If that doesn't count as healthy, then I'd have to say the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich. NON-SWEET: A toasted light English muffin with Laughing Cow light cheese (or if I have the calories to splurge, a tablespoon of healthy peanut butter). |

HI all, I've been a lazy lurker lately as I have not been very good about my eating and exercise. I am now over my cold and feeling more motivated. I have been keeping to at least one of my goals which is to stay in e-mail contact with my girlfriends who are also working on their healthy lifestyle. We call it virtual motivation and it seems to work, at least to encourage us to get back on track when we fall off the wagon. Anyway, I'll jump in on today's question: My favorite healthy sweek snack is fruit, anykind, especially cut up into a mixed fruit salad. Lately I've been enjoying the first melons of the season and pineapples. As for the savory snacks, I love all kinds of crunchy snacks but lately it's been popcorn. Now I'm off to do Turbo Jam as it looks like rain here in Chi-Town. And MOLLY, my tomato plants look fabulous but no fruits yet, just little budding flowers! The pepper plants don't look like they are growing but they look healthy. We shall see. I also have some herbs growing in a pot out there and those look to be doing well too so I'm so excited given that I have never gardened before. My dream is to make homemade salsa with my homegrown tomatoes and habanero peppers, can it and give it away for Christmas! Wish me luck! Do you ever do any canning? Blessings to your hubby, I think of him every time I come here to visit you Molly, you are amazingly strong. Let me know if you are interested in the Salsa canning project and we can share stories.... |

Sweet snack: a low carb tortilla spread with creamcheese and pumpkin butter...or pumpkin muffins made with white pinto beans...or a tortilla spread with peanut butter and a drizzle of honey. Non sweet - right now it's sweet mini peppers. |

QOD: Sweet- right now it's cherries or strawberries non-sweet- hmm...either some microwave kettle corn or a wedge or two of Laughing Cow light cheese on a couple crackers. :) My sand volleyball team won the league last night for spring session. :) I guess that we had it won before we played, but it still felt good. It felt a little on the cool side at 80 degrees at 8pm...but once we got playing we were all sweating up a storm...lol! |

You know what I hate?
CONFESSION: I was soooo tempted to write something on my digital scale with one of those Sharpie indelible/permanent markers. You know, something like "I AM AN EVIL, LYING, STUPID SCALE" .... but that may be a bit hard to explain to my wonderful DH when he comes back from summer camp!!! I am, however, open to suggestions as to WHAT I can write on that darn scale. MOLLY |

Original Post by mollymouser: Write: "If it's not your official weigh day - go away!" I'm sure your .8 gain is nothing but normal daily fluctuations. It'll all smooth out in the long run. You are sooooo good! Remember, too, that you may be hitting a plateau. I posted about this a while ago - my friend the biology professor said there is new research that shows that a major plateau is normal, should be expected and is even good for you after you've lost 15% or so of your body weight, as your body has to "reset" itself to run with its new parameters. Not something any of us want to hear, but the bottom line is, even if you do everything right, you may still plateau. At least we can know it's nothing we're doing wrong!

Pumpkin butter is available at Trader Joes, along with the fat free whipped cream cheese. A thin layer on a low carb tortilla is about 100 calories total and tastes almost like a pumpkin pie. |

| One of my favorite sweet snacks is chopped pineapple with light whipped cream and a few chopped walnuts. It feels like I'm eating a sundae. The old stand by for non-sweet snack is probably almonds but I like crackers with hummus as well. | ||

If you have ever had apple butter (yum), pumpkin butter is very similar only it tastes like pumpkin. I like it on my Thomas' light multigrain muffin. I have seen it in no sugar added varieties and it is also very tasty.
Favorite sweet snack- fresh fruit like strawberries, mango, pineapple. A more decadent snack is Dreyers no added sugar choc chip cookie dough ice cream with Smuckers sugar free caramel (1/2 cup ice cream and 1 tbsp caramel= 155 calories) I LOVE caramel and I swear I can't taste the difference, it is sooooooo good. The sugar free hot fudge is pretty tasty too if you are more into chocolate. Favorite non sweet snack- pita chips with roasted pepper hummus, pepper water crackers with laughing cow garlic and herb wedge |
