Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!
Let's look hot and healthy this summer!!!
Wow ladies! Lots happening on this forum. Welcome all the new ladies! Look forward to losing with you. I can't keep up with everyone so good job everyone else. Seems we are really doing well.
5'10 CW 161.2 SW 178 GW 150 well down a whopping .6 lbs...I have slowed way down these past 2 weeks and I have no idea why. Joy! I am very excited for the 150s but for whatever reason I am struggling to get there! Maybe next week.
meggo85: whats road cycling...do u just ride you bike a certain amount of miles? i need a bike im moving to cali where gas is almost $5/gal.
my legs are kiling me today bc i did sprints yesterday and leg exercises with free weights today.. i still thinking my eating too less and im afraid it will slow my metabolism down

So, the last of our company has left... I won't have a hard time sticking to my dieting and exercising ways now! Yes, I'm making excuses for my terribly, no good, horrible week![]()
My husband and I haven't watched what we ate or worked out in a week.
Tomorrow I will be back on track- I'm sure my bloated stomach will thank me.
You all did great on your weigh ins this week! Don't beat yourselves up on any gain or very small loss. It's the beginning of a new week! Chin up!

Good Morning Tall Ladies,
I just caught up on reading the posts. It's nice to get to know some of you better. Looks like I'm not the only one frustrated with the scale lately. I've been "stuck" right around the same weight for about a week now. (186) But I'm still doing all the right stuff so it should move in the right direction eventually.
As for exercise, I walk almost 3 miles two times a day: once early in the morning and once in the evening. My husband goes with me on the evening walks. I'm also going to a friend's house for water aerobics about 4 times a week. I'm trying to improve my speed during my morning walks. Today I think I stayed close to 4 mph the whole trip (almost 3 miles). Every now and then I will sprint for a minute or so but I get too winded to keep it up much more than that. I'm 53 and I let myself get terribly out of shape. I hope to be able to run again some day but for now I have to stick to walking mostly.
I've lost 18 lbs since I started cc. My goal is still 36 lbs away but I am determined to get there eventually.
Have a great week,
Beth
Toasize10- road cyclcing is just what it sounds like...bikin on the road. theres a couple other kinds- mountain biking, trail biking...I cant think of the rest, or maybe thats all. But I prefer the road.
had a bad weekend....again. good grief. just one monday i'd like to not say that lol.
question! i love gettin feedback i think thts y i ask so many!
where do most of your carbs come from? i try to watch my carbs but its really hard. i know fruit has carbs (healthy) but sugar can be alot! i've been trying low-carb (in the past its worked for me cutting out all sugar (including fruit), all breads and grains for two weeks (basically south beach diet suggestion for phase 1)
so again? where do most of your carbs come from?
toasize10: Well for example, a usual menu plan for me would be kicking off with oatmeal mixed with protein powder or all bran cereal with about 100g non fat milk, filled up with water. usually im full until lunch, which would be soup almost every weekday (veg, mushroom, tomato whatevers on the menu at work really) mid afternoon I'll have an apple. For dinner then I'll have some mixed veggies with sweet and sour sauce and some prawns or carrot soup with veggies thrown in or omelette with grilled tomatos and onions and lettuce. Or maybe a turkey salad. I have about 2 snacks a day that are either yougurt, fruit and almost always as my evening snack I'll have a chocolate covered rice cake and either hot choc or coffee.
I'm averaging about 140g of carbs on a normal day, hope this helps you realise that carbs and sugars arent the worst thing for a diet. Saying that though I do steer clear of pasta, potatoes, rice, and breads which is tough because I love them all.. but i'll eat them on occasion too.
wow carol that doesnt seem like very much food. Im usually pretty hungry when I eat like that. What are you tryin to eat? like 1200-1400 cals?
Toasize10-I dunno where my carbs come from, wish i could help but i mostly just count cals & thats as far as i go :P
Hey megg085, yep i aim for 1200-1400 weekdays and 1500 saturdays and 2000 sundays, it just fits into my lifestyle that way, I'm getting used to it now, but that the sacrifice to make if I wanted to enjoy my Mom's amazing cooking on Sundays and still lose...
Ahh here I am in my office, once again for another week of stuff to do?? Aint I lucky?:) Hi everbody!! I trust everybody had great weekends>>mine was far to short. But I made the best of it. I did fall off a bit...I had a warm, chocolately cookie fresh baked..I was caught at a weak point. But I dusted myself off and got back on the horse of fitness and health:) I biked into work Monday, Today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wed) Here's a question for you ladies, When I bike into work< I usually have my back pack stuffed with my work clothes, water, food (lunch, snack) work shoes...its like 8lbs of stuff>>I am wondering how many more calories I am burning with the added weight on my bike>>HELP
I have been drinking like 8 glasse of water everyday (routine)...taking my vitamines (thats always been a routine of mine since I was in college) I think I will take the plunge and get a scale this weekend. Can anybody suggest one??
Feeling really good. Not ready to weigh myself yet. I think I need more time to get my mind prepared for the drama:) The way I see it, my clothes fit well. I dont have my stretch marks anymore, nor do I have the double chin (LOL) I used to have... SOOOO I figure, I just need to keep up the work >>>well maybe increase my activity a bit more>> Talk to y'all later:)
Hey fifth!
I like using a scale that uses .5 lb. increments instead of full pounds.
Gosh darn it that half lb. weight loss is important to me![]()
okay. I steer clear of breads pastas etc unless whole grain or wheat..but even then i don't eat that much. that's where my weight gain comes from.
what about exercise? what's a good enjoyable exercise that kicks your but into shape? i'm not a fan of running because i was never good at it , but occasionally ill go for a 20-30min run so i've been doing workout videos. i know cycling is good but the class is at 6am at school.
i might have asked this question before but i dont remember haha!
wish me luck on my speech and test!

Ugh!! I am right there with you, I hate running. What I do enjoy is aerobics, biking, moderate weight lifting(toning primarily) and speed walking
Oh and good luck on your speech test (fingers crossed:) Thanks for your advice!

I have a hard time with running, too. The most I can do is about 1 minute at a time. For me walking works, though.
The Scale FINALLY decided to be friendly this morning. After weighing 186.0 for 6 straight days, I 'm 184.8 this morning! (By the way, my scale measures in .2 increments) ![]()
Yesterday I ate a little differently . I went to Schlotskey's for lunch
and forgot to tell them to leave off the mayo on my turkey sandwich. So
I didn't have many calories left for the rest of the day. So that
evening we went to Jason's Deli and I got the vegetable soup which has
less than 200 calories. I also drank a LOT of water with lemon and lime
in it. I figured this might help if my problem was retaining water.
Whatever worked, I am happy. I hope it doesn't all come back tomorrow.
So the latest on Hurricane Dolly is that she is making landfall about 250 to 300 miles south of us. But we are getting wind and rain here. We are expected to get around 7" here where we live. The Gulf and the bay are both very choppy and it's been raining since midnight.
I decided to go ahead and walk this morning! I know I'm a bit crazy but there is no lightening and what's a little water?
The wind was blowing right off the bay , I'm guessing at about 25 to 30
mph. But that's not that windy for Corpus . We get that much wind on
regular days. But it was raining and the rain kind of stung as it hit
my skin because it was blowing fast. But I enjoyed the walk. I wasn't
trying to walk particularly fast but I made better time today than most
days. I'm figuring it is because I wasn't so hot.
I REALLY wanted to walk again today and it's been raining all day because of Dolly. Well, I walked this morning in the rain and that was fun. But it wasn't as windy then but the storm has picked up quite a bit since then.
For those of you who aren't familiar with how hurricanes do, they come in "waves" except right near the center of the storm where it is really bad. Well, here where I live, we only got the outer part of this hurricane and only tropical storm force winds and rain (and one small tornado reported, too).
I assumed Larry would not want to walk in the storm, so I asked to go to the mall. But he surprised me and said, "It's not raining right now. Why don't we just go walking at the park." Right when we started out the door another squall came. So we waited that one out and then went.
When we got to the bay front another squall had hit and the wind was REALLY blowing strong. It was a cross wind but we were walking slightly into it, too. It was crazy. The local news said the winds in that area at that time were steady at 47 mph. I believe it. And, I LOVED it! It was very invigorating. It was only raining a little bit at first.
As we rounded the park and got down by the water it got really fun. The storm surge had brought the water way up and it was splashing on the walkway around the park. The bay was really choppy and muddy. I saw one poor king fisher bird huddled on the ground. He had obviously gotten wet in the surf.
Lots of people were at the park enjoying the
storm. We were probably the only ones actually exercising though. We
even brought our weights. But walking into that wind was a real
workout. Someone teased us about "power walking."
As we got near the end of our route the rains started coming really heavy and it really hurt hitting our backs. Fortunately the wind was behind us and were actually pushing us up the hill we were going up.
I got home and surprisingly I wasn't the least bit tired. I had so much fun. I know I'm crazy but I LOVE storms. My dad used to take me in them when I was a kid. Of course we stay in where it's safe when they are really strong or if it is lightening.
I took two
more pictures. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that my cell phone
camera was set on the lowest resolution. And I didn't want to get my
phone wet so I only took two and then put it back in my pocket to keep
it dry. The pictures are in my last journal entry if you want to see them.
I wonder how you log walking for 45 minutes in 47 mph winds? ![]()

What's up everybody
Just checking in to see how's everyones weight loss battle is coming along. I'm obsessed over the scale. I weigh myself evvveryday...lol, and my weight is different evverday. Anywho, I zig zagged my calories all week. Hopefully that would help with the weight loss. I usually track my weight on sundays. Tomorrow is weigh in day, so I gotta get a good workout in tonight before bed, so I can see a change in the scale tomorrow, a good change that is....scales can sometimes be tricky. See ya later, until tomorrow. Good luck on the scales...![]()
Happy Friday All!!![]()
Stats for this morning are as follow:
5'11
SW since I started CC:205
SW:205.5 Since Last Friday
CW: 203.5. Since this morning when I weighed in. Down 2lbs, YEAH!
GW:175 Hopefully by October, then go from there
So since starting CC, I have lost 1.5lbs. This is my second week. I was at a plateau for about a month. I'm so glad I found this site, just wish I would have found it sooner. Since I started zig zagging my calories, the scale has starting moving again...in the right direction.
Good Luck everyone with your weigh ins today. I know everyone is gonna have good news!
Working out and Working hard to reach a goal.... Thats what its all about!
boo for me today :(
My weigh-in said 155, up 2 lbs from last week. I have to say I wasn't super on-track this week. I've ran a total of 15 miles and did cross training for about 1 hour, which was fine. However, Wednesday night I went out with some friends and split nachos, a hummus plate, and a giant half baked cookie sundae and had three beers! I would say I didn't eat a whole ton from each thing but Im sure it was still 1000+ calories at night, when I tend to log lower calories than daytime. Also, I went to saladworks one day this week and somehow ate a 550 calorie salad for lunch. (BTW if anyone has one by them, their website has the COOLEST calorie-counter thing where it literally has a sidebar w/ nutrition info and it goes up each time you click to add the ingredients you added (its a make your own salad place)). Bad decisions this time, but now that I know about the tool it may be a GREAT place to go for a healthy lunch/dinner. Well let me just tell you my "naughty" streak continued last night when I went to dinner with my family (girls night- mom, aunt, sister, cousin). I have BAD willpower. I was NOT starving when I went and vowed I would not have any wine, and I would not eat bread. I failed on both accounts. I ordered steamed clams for an app, then I ordered a lobster ravioli with a tomato sauce. I only ate two but they were HUGE. We went to the movies afterwards and saw Mamma Mia (skip it!) where I behaved. I got a coffee which kept me away from the sweets and popcorn they got. I plan on having a good weekend, I have an 11-miler to do on Sunday so that is enough motivation to keep my from going out at night, and I think my harsh weigh-in will be on my mind.
Sorry for the rant, hope you all had a great week!
