Girls in their 20's who want to lose about 100 pounds ennazus520
  Jan 28 2008 19:41
Hi, my name is Suzanne and I am 23 years old. I weigh 258.3 pounds(yikes) and would really like to get down to between 140 and 150. I was wondering if there was anyone else out there in their 20's who has about that much they want to lose. We could work together and stay motivated to reach our goals!!! Also, if there is anyone in their 20's who has lost that much and wants to share their success story, I would love to hear it! Thanks!

freddie, i think you are looking at someone else's pic.  i don't have smokey eyes and my skin is just okay :)  but, thanks for the encouragement!  i am really worried that even if i lose the weight, i'll never be pretty.  my face is not something i can really change, ya know?

trukngrl: I just looked at your photos and you're a boarder like me! Woohoo!!!!

Waaaay too funny! I read this the first time as b-r-o-a-d-e-r! I thought you were saying that you were both wide! I was like, "Nuh-uh!" Now I said in a previous post that you need to love yourself the way you are, but didn't mean that you should nessisarily want to be wide! hahahahaha

LMAO!!!!!  I guess I should have put the word "snow" in front of it!!!  hehe.

dalmalama: congrats on losing the last of your first goal!!

watchmeshine: you're already beauitful!!  And remember that your face will change considereably as you drop weight.  Have you ever watched the biggest loser?  I'm amazed at the differences in the faces.  And look at my pics...my face looks different now than it did at my biggest...most notably, the smile looks a lot better!  I always say, your best accessory is your smile!

Okay girls....it's time for my reality check....

I haven't logged food or even worked out in like 11 days. I don't know what was wrong with me. Argh! I hate that! This is what always happens when I'm trying to lose weight. However, so far for the day I have logged ALL my calories and I plan on leaving school for the gym in exactly ONE HOUR. I am really scared to weigh myself. But like I said....REALITY CHECK. Keep me line! I know once I see the scale my jaw will probably drop and I'll be at the gym everyday this week. I need to kick my own butt into gear. Just wanted to write it here to make myself a little more responsible. Now other people know I'm going to do this....so if I don't then they'll know....something along those lines......

#284 feddiechick Feb 18 2008 21:02
WatchMeShine - nope =P your pic. I think you're amazingly beautiful. I wish you could see it in yourself!
#285 watchmeshine82 Feb 19 2008 04:52
thanks feddie.  i feel like my motivation comes in spurts though.  one week i will be sooo good and work out 5 times a week for 1.5 hours each time and then the next week i don't want to work at ALL.  the food part isn't even the hard part for me now.  it's the moving stuff to make sure this comes off and stays off!!!!

Hello everyone!

Argh. I did not log my food during the weekend. tsk tsk! And I still have not gone to gym since my last post (last week). eeeek...life! Busy with packing our stuff. I live with my mom and I will be migrating to Canada this April. So I need to pack my mom's things and move her to my brother's house as she is 73 years old. Still very strong but we just rent a condo and since I am leaving it's better she gets to stay with someone...just in case of emergencies. Also, she won't have to pay rent. So while helping my mom pack...I am packing myself. Very difficult knowing I wont be coming back for a long time. So will all that...I rather sleep and eat than go to gym. Sooo bad. =(

pinkcobra - thank you for the support. yes, we must not beat ourselves up if fall sometimes....but  I have been bad...no gym....zzzz...

ennazus520 (Suzanne) - I feel for you. That sucks! =( I am sorry you can't go on vacation.

watchmeshine: congrats! Yippeee! And yes, we are beautiful! =) I also have my eyebrows and my light moustache threaded as I have PCO...so I am bit hairy. And I feel better after doing that. We most love ourselves no matter what.

wellman25: Hi. =) Welcome. =)

#287 watchmeshine82 Feb 19 2008 13:15
mikapu,  i have pcos too so i know exactly how you feel!  for years i had crazy hair and acne problems.  laser treatment combined with spironolcatone helped solve the hair problems.... acne just eventually cleared up.  my face used to look like a pepperoni pizza -- worse even.  :)  do you ever feel like it's much harder to lose weight with PCOS?  i've noticed that i can create the same calorie deficits as a friend or even my sister for that matter, work out, etc. and not lose a single pound compared to them losing many!  i have found though that i'll still lose inches though sometimes when that is happening so maybe i am just building muscle instead?  not sure what it is -- at least it's getting smaller whatever it is!

Morning ladies,

I had a nice 4 day weekend with my husband and little girl but I didn't do very good I made some bad choices.  I did go weigh in and am down 1 lb for last week for a total of 13.2 but after I weighed in I started eat and I feel like I didn't stop till last night. I am back on track and really want to be down 1.8 lbs this week to be at 15 lbs.  Ok enough about me.  I haven't been on here in a couple days and had to get caught up.  I don't think I could reply about everyone's post but all of you inspire me and I can only hope I can get were you guys are with working out.  Right now I just do walking at work and I try to do more at home but it's hard with my hours I work and with my daughter.  But I guess there will always be a reason (excuse) why I can't do it so I guess i need to just get out there and move.  Like I said you guys inspire me and if you guys can do it so can I.

mladdy - I wanted to tell you how sorry I am to hear about your grandpa.

#289 kelly27 Feb 19 2008 15:25
trukngrl- where is Graham? i'm in Spokane.
#290 watchmeshine82 Feb 19 2008 17:30

pc, thanks for the encouragement.

feddie, i hope i can one day look at myself and think i'm beautiful.  it's very hard when you never hear that and/or live in someone else's shadow your whole life!  plus with my pcos, i grew up being the kid people made fun of.  hairiness, acne, etc.

jpetty, 1 lb is still 1 lb off your body, burned away, gone forever and ever!  that's how i'm trying to think of things now!  when i work out i feel like i'm attacking the fat getting it off of me hehe :)

Happy Tuesday!

Mikapu-- I feel ya, I totally didn't log *anything* this weekend... Probably good that I didn't because I drank wayyyy too much.  Where in our vast and frozen land Canada are you moving to?

Is it just me, or is winter too long?!?  I cannot wait for summer, and hopefully we're all prancing in the bikinis haha

#292 sonini Feb 19 2008 18:59
Oh I agree. Winter is waaaay too long. I do enjoy the snow though. This year I think it's felt longer because it will get warm for a bit, and then freeze again. Mother Nature needs to make up her freaking mind!!
I'm escaping the cold shortly though... I'm going to Florida next week... yay!  I'm scared though, just hoping I can keep my eating under control. It's always so much harder to control when you're on vacation (especially when it's a 2 day drive and there will be nothing but fast-food stops... ahhhh!)  :S
#293 pinkcobra Feb 19 2008 19:29

It's been sunny and warm lately which has been a tremendous mood booster!  I'm headed to IN/IL in the beginning of march though so I'm going to have to pull all my sweaters out again.

Mikapu and Watchmeshine: I, too, suffer from PCOS but thankfully am not too hairy but still have some acne problems.  I did have trouble losing weight for quite awhile, but after being on metformin for several months, it seemed to ease up a bit.  Now I'm on a roll, but minor plateaus here and there.

Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

#294 dalmalama Feb 19 2008 20:09

oh my god, sonini, pick me up on your way to florida! i seriously cannot take one more day of february. yesterday was gorgeous here, and today? 30 degrees colder than yesterday. this winter is such a tease.

what part of fla. are you going to? i went to south beach a while ago, and the first thing i had was a huge pasta dish with just about every creature from the sea in it. i wasn't trying to lose weight then, so i didn't care how many cals it had in it, but the fish (and squid and octopus and whatever else) was good! i SO wish i was going on a vacay somewhere, and sometime soon. alas, i have to be a responsible adult and budget for the rest of the freakin' year.

anybody have any suggestions for a cheap way to go somewhere sunny, if just for a weekend? i'd be traveling solo.

#295 allydan Feb 19 2008 20:32

Hi everyone!

I hope everyone had a mah-velous weekend!  I was totally awful and ate bad and drank bad, and as a result I'm the same weight I was last week.  I was sitting here wondering why I'm not really mad at myself when I realized it's because of THE GUY.  The date Friday was a success!  I've been walking on air (but apparently eating on land Tongue out) all weekend!  *sigh* Back to reality this week, though!

Florida sounds divine, sonini!  Good for you!  I'm sure you'll have an awesome time!  I'm in Houston, so I'm not really suffering in the cold, but I do appreciate a fabulous vacation!

dalmalama, there's always cheap flights online  for last minute destinations, so check out Orbitz every once in a while. Hurry though, 'cuz as it gets closer to spring break the prices are going to skyrocket.

Happy Tuesday, ladies! Laughing

#296 dalmalama Feb 19 2008 20:55

i totally just checked out all the travel sites, since sonini whet my travel appetite. but my budget is so tight, i can't really afford any of it right now. i'll figure something out, though.

but doesn't it suck when you go on a great date, but that great date kind of takes your mind off the whole weight loss thing? doesn't it feel like, if i have one why can't i have them both? i assume that's why you "ate bad and drank bad." or maybe you don't feel bad b/c you feel too good about the date.

it's really, super, crazy hard to behave in situations like that.

not to be too nosy, but what did you guys do?

#297 watchmeshine82 Feb 19 2008 21:26

we have a department lunch at least once a week here.  that's when i'm bad.  a tray of cookies right in front of me -- i cannot resist having one!!!!!  but they are the big ones so i know they're at least 500 calories!  it is so sad.  knowing that this will happen, i don't have dessert at all outside of that lunch.  i even went out for dinner twice this past weekend and behaved (cheesecake factory and all!) by not having any dessert.  anyone else have those kind of weaknesses or problems?  the rest of the time when i'm bringing my own food to work, everything is well.

WEIGHT LOSS PACE.

Question for everyone:  what's an "unhealthy" pace to lose weight?  I've been hearing 1-2 pounds a week is the best but that people who are heavier often lose faster.  I've also heard the figure 1% of your body weight per week is fine.  Anyone know?  I'm just wondering because I'm averaging 3-4 lbs a week by working out like a fiend.  I'm afraid that might be unhealthy and may lead to sagging skin.  Then again, I feel I should throw in as many work outs as possible when I'm motivated b/c there are certainly weeks (especially a certain time of the month!) when I do not feel like moving.

#299 watchmeshine82 Feb 19 2008 21:35

CLOTHES.

sorry to monopolize the forum today but i keep thinking of all these things i've wanted to talk to people about for the past 1.5 years before joining the CC forum :)

Question for ya'all -- what are you doing with your old clothes?  anyone re-tailoring?  mostly donating?  how about in terms of buying clothes for your *hopefully* in-between sizes knowing you want to move onto a bigger and better size?  i've bought a number of clothes in size 14 as motivation but i have a lot of clothes in the size 26-30 and 2x+ range that are way too big on me now!!  size 24 stuff is still fitting okay but size 22 is a better fit.

 just curious :)

#300 dalmalama Feb 19 2008 21:49

first the weight loss thing:

how long have you been at it? if it's only been a few months, 3-4 lbs/wk is okay. your body's trying to adjust. if it's been more than 2 months, that is way too much weight to be losing, even being very overweight. yes, it could leave you with sagging skin, but you could also be jeopardizing your health, and your organs. 1-2 lbs is suggested, and is definitely the safest thing. however, that is an average. you may find that one week  you lose 4 lbs, another week you lose 1 lb, another you lose nothing, and another you lose 3 lbs. that averages out to 2 lbs/week. just look at your numbers overall, that should give you some indication.

clothes: my old clothes have been worn so much, they have nowhere to go but the dumpster. for instance, the jeans i'm wearing right now ought to be burned. the thighs are starting to fray b/c i've worned them so much, but i'm not buying another pair of jeans until i can fit the next size down, which should be in about 12 pounds. it's gonna be a long 2 months till i can fit those jeans.

unfortunately, most of my bigger clothes weren't very high quality, so there's no retailoring that's gonna save them, and donating them would be insulting to the poor, b/c they're so run down. everything goes in the garbage, until i can fit and find better quality clothes at a reasonable price.
