It's a society built on patriarchy, HK ... and yes, on racial superiority as well ... but anyone who believes patriarchy is dead is kidding themselves.

By no means do I believe that all men fit into that idea, though, or that all men are sexist.  No f'n way.  :-)

Has anyone read the 'First trip to the States' thread? I feel kinda offended. I understand that we in the US are probably have a higher rate of obesity than other countries. And I understand the reasons.

I don't know if I feel offended that she seems to view us as all fat lazy lard arses or the fact that people are posting that her prespective was scued because she was at a theme park (so people that go to theme parks are fat lazy arse?).

I haven't read, but... what bothers you about that. The US DOES have one of the highest obesity rates in the world? And there really ARE alot of Obese people in America.

OK, so what are we pointing to? are you suggesting Hillary lost because she was a woman and Barack a Black? Because I do not buy that. Hillary lost because of her own screw-ups, her committe's screw-ups and her husband's screw-ups. In general, Hillary and her people screwed up ALOT more than "Bitter and Hanging to Guns" Obama

I was about to say that exact thing, shiznit ...  It wasn't considered weird or out there to talk about Hillary's hair or shoes or clothes, or how her emotions might sway her leadership abilities.  Yet all of that is blatantly sexist.

Or maybe it bothers me becuase it just feeds my low self (body) image to think that people are looking at me and assume that I'm lazy because of my size.

Kim, people are looking at you. Enjoy your life and your body ANYWAY. Seriously, high self esteem is when you know people are looking at you and you know it doesn't matter anymore. :)

Not because of her laugh or her shoes or her hair or her emotions.

Well ... that's what I'm saying.  The portrayal of her and many discussions of her were dripping with sexism, but the sexist culture is NOT why she lost.
