How to stick with this4ever ~ The most important thing is to find a healthy approach that works for you that you can enjoy for the rest of your life. Create your new lifestyle. Let's talk about how!
Hello Pedeisme!!! Welcome to our cheery little group! (smile)
I'm Molly. I started on Calorie-Count about 5 weeks ago, weighing 369 pounds. I've been learning a lot about nutrition and choices, and logging every thing I eat. I measure portions, I read labels, and I log it all! Anyway, in the 5 weeks since my diet started, I've lost 23.6 pounds and I am very encouraged by that.... just dropping below 350 to 345.4 brought me to tears .... yay!
The tools on this site work. Plug in your numbers and determine your BMR, then follow the advice about how many fewer calories to eat to lose at a safe, steady pace.
Eat more veggies. Eat more fiber. Drink more water! (All three things really help!)
You can do this!

Ok, I don't own a watch and can't seem to follow a weekly schedule, so if y'all don't mind, thought we'd change from a weekly format to a whenever format ~ as in whenever works 4 u.... (whenever we get here to share & post, whenever we have a reason to celebrate or need a hug... just whenever... the more often the better... )
also changed QOW (question of the week) to DQ ~ Discussion Question
Ok, it's late. I'm tuckered. Turning in. tty'all later ~ goldie :)
I hope this finds everyone healthy and happy. I have had a very busy week. I keep meaning to measure myself but honestly I am scared. It's WW weigh day again and I am sooooooo hoping to reach my 10% goal of 23lbs. I'd love to have lost more but I'll be happy with that. Anyway I'll let you know as soon as I am done I go in 1 hour.
Pedeism- Welcome to the group I just wanted to say you can do this as we are here for you. I understand you want to lose weight more aggressively but let me tell you we have all tried to lose weight fast and are living proof that all that does for us is put it back on us faster and more then before. Please be careful. If you look at the people her who've lost 100lbs or more it's doing it the right way the safe way starting out slow and working your way up to what your body can do. Anyway welcome to the group and you CAN do it.
magickat- I completely understand. My dad and i are both about 5'4.5"-5'5". He's 155lbs, old school mexican. His nicknames for me were "Gordita" (fat girl) and "Big Momma". He would always tell me I was too fat and try to "bribe" me to lose weight, and I wonder why i had an eating disorder..right? He actually visited me a couple of weeks ago, I picked him up at the airport. His first comment to me was "I guess you stopped going to the gym. What happenned, Gordies?" This is from my Dad whom I hadnt seen in over a year!! I guess you know how much that hurt... i really dont that that some people realize how much they can hurt you. i think that my dad feels that he is trying to help me,..it just really isnt effective.

On a lighter note. I weighed in and I lost 1.2 lbs met my ww 10% goal weight exactly. I am so excited I got my my key chain award and it was a really nice feeling. Next week is the last week on our 13 week session and I am really hoping to lose two more lbs so that I can have 25lbs this session and then 25 the next 13 week session. I know I'll have to really get into gear with my exercising on the next session if I want to get to the 25 since the losing has been a lot slower the last month or so. And usually when I hit about 200 it really slows down not sure why but it has all the other times I got that far. Currently I weigh in at 212 I stated WW weighing 235 my highest ever so I am happy 23 lbs gone whoo hoo.
Anyway hope everyone has a great day and talk to you soon.
yeahhh it hurt. i just pretended that it didnt bother me. its cool though.. im losing and staying positive but not discussing it with him at all. I dont want to hear "just 10 lbs?" you know? i think it could be very discouraging...

Hi everyone! I've struggled with my weight my entire life, and I'm just not gonna take it anymore!!
I went from 360 to 249 lbs on a doctor's prescribed weight plan of 1000 calories a day and a maximum of 20g of fat, with the help of Prozac and Phentermine. I lost 90 lbs in four months, but I couldn't keep it off once he took me off the pills. I gave up and fell into old eating habits and a mostly sedentary life style, and regained to 337 lbs :(
I've resolved to make permanent healthy changes to my eating habits, without the use of pharmaceuticals or goofy over-the-counter ripoffs.
I'm fairly good at keeping under my calorie ceiling, and better at sticking to my exercise regimen. My nutrition grade is rarely above a "C" according to this website's analysis, so that's an area I intend to improve on.
This website says I could eat 4500 calories daily and maintain my weight, taking my current weight and activity levels into account. This seems outrageously high! I tend to gain weight whenever I eat more than 2200 calories, and usually have to eat 1800 or less to keep the scale moving downward steadily. Am I a mutant or what?? :P
nihilistic~WELCOME! I've made terrible, stupid choices in the past to "just get the weight off" but (like you've experienced) I never kept it off. This time around I decided to focus my attention on educatingmyself (about nutrition) and not so much on "getting skinny". The best part though- I am losing weight and now I know how to keep it off! Basically, my point is, I think you've made a good decision to make permanent healthy changes to youreating habits, without the use of pharmaceuticals or goofy over-the-counter ripoffs.
Sounds like you're doing an awesome job with your exercise regimen, too. Bicycling 21 miles a day~WOW~ That is awesome!!. I'm only up to 8 miles at a time but one of these days I'll catch you. :)
About your suggested daily calorie intake set by the website...I don't know? I thought mine seemed way too high, too. Can anyone explain?
Best of luck to you! ~Corisa

Hey eveyone! I was reading thru the posts and even though they weren't about the happiest subjects they made me so happy. Everyone's so supportive of one another. I'm so proud to be a member of this club. It's nice to know I can count on all of you if or when I feel let down by others. I appreciate all of you!
Congratulations ang37 on reaching your 10% goal! That's wonderful!
bigmommah~I'd be proud to add you to my friends list! I'll help you, too, in anyway I can! lol
jansa5~Woo whooo! Good for you! -down 7lbs since joining this group and down 25.5lbs since joining c.c.
Well, I've gotta get. I'll talk to ya tomorrow. Have a nice one!
lol ~Corisa
Bahhhh, today I feel like *bleep*
Yeah, so I've lost 20lbs, woopdeedoo. Today my "monthly joy" decided to pay a visit, and now I'm sore, unmotivated, fatigued, and grumpy. I've been craving crap food ALL day, and I gave in at 8pm by having a couple chocolates. I went over my calories by 71, which isn't bad.. but blahhhhhh. I feel like a blob of fat today. After being so optimistic and upbeat about my weight loss, I fell into this ditch. ![]()
I need motivationnnnnnnnn and support to get through tomorrow. I have class from 8am til 4pm and I really am not looking forward to it. I don't want to have to pack a two snacks and a lunch and lug it around with 4 big books all freakin' day.
Hellllllllllllllllp

Ped & Nih, I don't know? I set mine at sedentary and then just log in extra exercise. There's a difference between expenditure which is what you burn (before extra activity/top # on your burn meter) and allowance which reduces calories based on your weight loss goals. I think mine cuts 750 cals for 1 1/2 lbs a week, but i just try to cut 500 cals, so I look at my burn meter more and try to stay 500 below my total cals for the day...
I think he thinks he's encouraging me. But to me, it makes me always feel like I'm not good enough in his eyes. :::sigh::: there's a lot more to the unthinking comments, even other stuff.
I have tried to talk to him a couple times. woooo..... waves hand over head... got no where.
Anyway, I have to listen closely to the crap I tell myself. it get's pretty negative, and it's not true. I deserve to live and breathe, be happy.... just like everyone else.
U do 2
calories burned - minus calories eaten = equals days deficit
i like the burn meter. the top # shows total cals for the day including exercise logged in.
