I would love to start a club for those of us who have a lot of weight to lose. Do any of you have AIM?
Hey, just found this thread. I weighed in at 235 at my last dr. appointment. I've lost 8 lbs so far. This is really exciting because I feel I understand what I'm doing, I'm not "following rules" (I'm so rebellious!) and I agree with everything about this method. I've got a good foundation of nutrition from my childhood, my mom always cooked healthy, but I found it nearly impossible to figure out how to eat well once I was on my own. American culture is sooo filled with bad choices and huge portion sizes, and I couldn't make sense of it on my own. But now it's easy and I don't feel like I'm going to "fail" doing this.
I just want to get thinner mostly so I feel like people respect me again. I'm smart and talented and I'm sick of being treated like I'm a sweet but probably stupid nobody. I'm involved with theatre but my body doesn't respond like I think it should. I ache and have pains after I've been sitting for awhile. I'm 41 with a teenage son and I want to be a M.I.L.F.!!! :)

sorry, just trying to tag this thread ...
Hi all: I just joined the site about an hour ago and am too over the 200 mark. I'm about 5'8, weighing 270lbs. The site gave me a goal of 144, but I believe I will be happy with anything below 170. It's dead winter here in Canada and I'm a student at University, so it's difficult to get the exercise in. I dance regularly, by myself, just rocking out. I also walk to class each day and to and from classes adds up... mostly 20 minutes a day. I try and walk at night when the weather's good and walk at a pretty fast pace. I want to really start sweating though, so I think I'll up the pace.
I want to lose 25 lbs by the end of April, start of May. Right now, I'm eating 1800 calories a day, even though the site recommended over 2000 for me. I'm never hungry and just started adjusting to the portion sizes and the huge amount of veggies and fruit I need to eat.
I really think that this site will help me reach my goal. When I return home, I will join the local ymca and work out there. I am truly excited for the first time at the prospect of being healthy and at an attractive weight.
Good luck to everyone! If you really want it, you can do it! :)

I weighed 235 and didn't lose a thing while dieting and working out with a trainer. About the time I stopped working with the trainer I wa tested for allergies and found out I am allergic to wheat. I was told this was causing me to not lose weight. I quit losing weight and lost 30 pounds with little effort (I continued exercising but not as much as with the trainer). Over the summer I fractured my foot and ankle and was in a wheelchair for 2 months. I put the 30 pounds back on. I am back with the trainer, eating right, and doing everything I am supposed to do but I can't lose even a pound. Hopefully there will be some suggestions or at least motivation to keep me going.
Hello everyone. I am new to CC. I've been looking through the site and this looks like a great website for support when trying to lose weight! I was at my highest weight of 220lbs on Dec 15th and decided that I must do something to get my weight back under control. I am now 207lbs and have a goal weight of 143lbs, which would be about 5lbs lighter than I was when I met my husband 6 years ago.
It's amazing how much weight I gained during the last 6 years - it really snuck up on me. I probably gained about a pound a month and before I knew it, I was 220lbs!!
Well, here I am, and I'm ready to do it. I've started out by reducing my calorie intake to about 1200-1300 calories a day, and I'm trying to work out 3 times a week. So far I've been disciplined with the calories, but I've only been working out 2 times per week. I need to up the exercise this week!
I'm glad I found this site. Good luck to everyone this week.

Hi you all, Is a new week to get motivated , I haven't been doing any exercise because of my arthritis but need to get going. This week I'm going to watch my cals. closer. I'm into 27 th day without binging (thats a different group on c.c. ) so now I feel I can work more with the calories. Have been having 3 meals and snacks. Nothing after 6:00 pm. I haven't weighed in since Jan.2, except that visit to the doctors office which I'm going to forget about. If I only lost 1 lb. this month aleast I wouldn't have gained. I would like to lose 50 lbs. this year. I have to b ecareful about health problems getting me down and then I'll eat. Have a great Monday and keep up the good choices. :)
Guess I'll join in with the crowd.
I've been on calorie-count for a little while now, but have kind of gave up on dieting a couple of times since I joined.
This time I have a friend dieting with me, and it is helping out a lot having someone else do this with me.
I reached my all time high recently of 288 pounds. I just kept getting bigger and bigger, and I had to put a stop to it. It's been two weeks and I've lost 8 lbs by using a Weight Watchers plan. We've been doing it ourselves, since going to the meetings and such cost a lot of money. I've been keeping real close track of what I eat, and think I have been doing really good at it so far. I expect the easy weight loss to stop soon though, and kind of level off.
I have set goals to lose 10% of my body weight at a time. By mid June I am hoping to have lost 29 pounds, and then after that I will set a new goal to lose 10% more of my body weight. I think by taking small steps I'll be able to better manage it.
I want to use c-c.com in conjunction with my weight watchers diet. While the WW stuff is pretty good, I don't think it always encourages eating healthier foods, just less food is all. Of course if you eat healthy, you get to eat a little more. I like the food grading system on c-c.com, and I would like to get to eating foods in an A-B range, so I can lose weight and look healthy, instead of losing weight and just look skinny. Also, there is all the extra added support of the people on c-c.com, and it is more visual and easier to see if I am doing good or bad.

darnit do i hate the weekends -- well i love the weekends cause i don't have to be at work -- but i never do as well eating wise on the weekends as i do during the week!
Well, I give myself a "cheat day" once a week and eat how ever much I want and whatever I want. I can tell by my weight log here, you see little upswing spikes, and then continues down the rest of the week. I have been extremely sucessful though-- I have lost approximately 20 pounds since I started on January 1st. Its alot of time at the gym on the elliptical machine, but I am seeing such fast results, that i dont care about the weekend 2 pound gain...hope this helps. I started the first week with 800 calories consumed a day, and gradually increased my calories to a now 1200 calories a day(except for the weekends-heehee). I drink alot of green tea and water, reduced alcohol to only on my cheat day. I also go to the gym at least once a day and try to use the elliptical for at least 35 minutes each time. I don't recomend this diet to anyone unless reviewd by your physician..its easy though, all simple math kiddies!!!

Hello! I recently joined CC -- it's taking me awhile to find my way around. My highest weight ever was 233; today I'm 227. I have a goal of 150 -- a weight I haven't been for about 20 years (I'm almost 57).
I am totally an emotional eater. I'm going to try to pick the book 'Mindless Eating' today -- if Wally World doesn't have it, I'll order it from Amazon. I've heard wonderful things about it -- and no one can go into a mindless eating zone like I can!! :>)
I've quite active -- I retired at 53 from a wonderful 3-year career and am pretty active. I live on an acreage with my partner and near my elderly mother. We have 5 dogs, 2 horses, a mini-donkey, and too many cats to count.
Body image and self-loathing because of my weight have been a lifelong battle for me. It's sad, really. I have 2 sisters who underwent gastric by-pass and have never regretted it for a minute. I'm a freak when it comes to anything like that. I really want to have what they have in terms of wgt loss and overall health, but am waaaaay to affraid to even think about surgery -- even if I could afford it, which I can't.
Anyway, I intend to post several times a week and look forward to "meeting" the rest of you here!

Ok -- let's try this again. I retired from a 30-year career, not a 3-year one! Geez!! :>)
I'm stuck, guys! I haven' lost anything in about a week. But I do know that I have cheated some... but I don't think enough to go over. Who knows. I'm not completely frustrated, because I didn't gain, and I knew I would hit my first plateau. Just needed to vent! I hope everyone is doing wonderful!!

Hi all. I'm happy to report in that I'm down 10 pounds from my estimated start weight. I didn't buy my own scale until a week and a half in, so I based my start weight on what I know I had weighed in the past. This 10 pound mark and dropping under 250 which should come soon as well are my first milestones I have reached and are helping to inspire me.
Also I'm happy to report I've got to go out and buy a new belt soon! ;-)

I'm 230 right now. I was on CC last year, and dropped big weight from 230 to 190. I fell off the wagon over the summer, but I know that CC was the reason I dropped those 40 lbs, and this time I'm on it for good all the way down until my goal of 166.
After this post I'm off to go buy a scale! Good luck and congratulations all!
