So I have seen teen, 20's, 40's, 50's and beyond, but no 30's group. So would anybody like to get something started? Not sure where to begin hmmmm
I guess being in our thirties our metabolism has not hit a wall just yet, but it certainly isn't what it was in the 20's. Don't you miss those days? Anything you want and as long as you did maybe one sport in high school, then no worries. Ohwell on to real life where nothing seems to be on schedule.
Let hear your thoughts.
lynnhaslost- girl I got to stop now….when I try to eat a little bit I get carried away. Today is my third day and so far so good I don’t miss the bad food until I see it. Even then I don’t want to eat. I read your profile WOW, you have done well! Congratulations! Hopefully in a few months I will be feelin real good and about 10,15 maybe 20lbs lighter!!
And the boyfriend working out with you is THE BEST!!

Hi everyone! Been gone a little while.. we went to visit my folks in Wisconsin over the week of the 4th, and my sister, her husband and son, and my brother all came too. My sis lives in Missouri, so I usually only see her once or twice a year. We had so much fun, but I was bad again with eating and being lazy :( I ate really good yesterday, and started back with logging my eats, and started back to excersizing ( a bit sore today!) I weighed at 168.4 this morning, so I hope I can stay on track now.
My hubby and I put a down payment on a nice pontoon boat and we got it last week. We will keep it at my folks house most of the time because they live on a small lake and we want them to enjoy it too. We all had a blast last week trying out the new boat and doing some fishing. The kids just love it. I hope next summer I will be able to sit out on the boat in a bikini ;)
Welcome all new people! I like how this group keeps growing! ttmckoy, your baby is so cute! She is just gorgeous- how old is she now? You are very pretty too! I bet you will be back to your pre-pregnancy weight in no time!
Lynn, I am so glad to hear that your bf is getting on track. And working out together sounds great! 8 lbs already- isnt that just the luck of men! so unfair sometimes ;) I hope you and he are working everything out alright.. seems like all relationships have their hiccups now and then. Thats great about your new car- what kind is it? Only $30 to fill it up? is that right? we have a suburban- 30 gallon tank- and it costs over $100 now.. might have to go back to a minivan if gas prices dont improve-- but I really love my truck. Must be nice to have a little break from the kids too.. do they come back home soon? I miss my kids when they go once in awhile to spend a few days with my folks or my inlaws, but it sure is nice to have a break from all the responsibilities!
manta, I am so happy for you, being able to fit into your old pants and accomplishing your goals! Congrats!
happyjoyjoy, welcome! you look really great! 113 lbs! What have you been doing to stay in such great shape?
Wendyb27- Thanks for the warm welcome. You have a beautiful family as well. I am sure you all are gong to really enjoy the boat!! My baby girl is 8months old. And she is the light of my life!! Anyway, I can talk about her all day long. Sometime I think I bore people....yea I am one of those moms… I can't help it. Ok…Good you are getting back on track...looking forward to losing lots of weight with you! ....With you all! ![]()
I think most moms are like that, I could talk about my little one all day too! And it just keeps getting more and more fun as she gets older (and she is only 2.5!)
Wendyb27- Glad to hear your back on track. I know it's hard when you're busy with the family. Thanks for the warm welcome too. I've been struggling to maintain since the 4th of July and I think it's the quality of food not the quantity that I've been eating. To stay at 113, I have to work out four or five times a week. Plus, I have to really limit the sweets.
I wish my kids were still little sometimes. I miss cuddling with them and taking them to the park. Now, they can't wait to get away from me. ![]()
Hope everyone is doing well! ![]()
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone, it's so nice to hear how excited and positive everyone is on here. I look forward to being part of an amazing group! Have a great day!
libtay- I am a newbie myself but welcome. I look forward to losing lots of weight with you! ![]()
Ok, ladies I need a place to vent...today is my fourth day on my journey to lose weight. So far so good! I realized today how much I hate looking at my body in the mirror. I want to lose this weigh so badly I could scream!! I am picturing myself in a nice pair of “skinny” jeans, with a nice turtle neck and some fabulous boots this fall. I don’t need the belly rolls plugging from my sides!! My biggest fear this time is that I will give up AGAIN… I can't afford to give up this time. ![]()
I am 35, 152 lbs, 5' 4.5" and would like to get down into the 120s!! I love fall clothes, so I am working my ars off now to hopefully fit into some of those cute clothes (and hopefully skinny jeans again)! Hard to do with big thighs, butt, hips, and calves!!
My downfall is red wine! I love it so much! And martinis! Forget about it - not going to happen for a while during weight loss! I really need to stay motivated and need your help!!
TTmckoy~ In time the weight will start to roll off...Don't beat yourself up, and be real about your wants and needs.. When it comes down to eating. My trainer told me, if you don't want it don't eat it, and if you don't have room for it don't force it. Rules I have come to live by. I eat a ton apples and that balance some of my sweet tooth, but when my sweet tooth really starts to deal with me.. I take a spoon of Molasses and a real shot of O.J. Keeps my sugar level at a nice smooth non craving every damn thing level.. Helps with those crab craves too. Mom told me about that. I really don't have to do it all the time. But when I want just sweets. I go in there and I take that spoon of molasses, and that shot of O.J. and I level right out. It works.......
Wendy~ Glad you got away to see your family. That's great. My new car is a 91 convertible Dodge Shadow, and I really like the price. 500 for a great car. I could not let him not get it for me. I have a big SUV too.... Suburban too. My boyfriend had gottten a 93 GEO Metro right when the gas started to go up, and he wasn't looking at the fact that I needed something easy on gas until he had to fill up my truck again right in the middle of the week from all my running before the kids left for Helen GA. I was in the van part time, but he has not fixed my air, and my baby has asthma and she needs air. So, the truck did it for him. He had enough of that filling it up.. I mean really. Who is going to keep on buying those gas drinker's. I really do love mines don't get me wrong, but I wish the gas would just drop. We have a lot of sports cars and everything has V8's of big engine blocks, and they burn just as much gas as my truck. I can't drive my kids around in those much either. So we are going to enjoy the savings, and only use the SUV when we are doing the family outings. But it's cute and I love it. My kids will be home on friday, and I already texted my daughter a pic of the new car for her to see. She is so happy, we are going to start teaching her this year to drive, and she is over the moon with happiness. She will be 14 in Jan, so I'm just getting all my ducks in a row for her, before she jumps ahead of me and have someone other than me teach her how to drive. :) Oh, I saw what you posted about your weight. GIRL, Don't you dare worry about that.. YOU ARE DOING GREAT!.
ALL OF YOU ARE!
Welcome fluffyveed! I had to give up wine too while I was trying to lose, now I have the occassional glass, but not nearly as often as I used to, I try to save it for special occassions and get togethers with friends and then limit myself to 3 glasses max (a little over 300 cals). If I know I am going to be drinking, I just try to work it into my calorie count, and while I was trying to lose, I would make days like that maintenance days.
Keep at it TTmckoy, you will get there. Stick with it, I ahd all but given up trying to lose my extra baby weight right before I joined CC. I even got rid of most of my pre pregnancy and skinny clothes (DUMB MOVE!). I had just resigned myself to being fat for the rest of my life, it just seemed too hard, and having lost a lot of weight before and knowing the dedication it takes, it just seemed too hard, but then something clicked in my head and you know what, the weight just started falling off, and well, it wasn't that hard after all and my mood and attitude improved tremendously just from better eating and regular exercise.
So ladies still trying to lose... I just thought I woudl share a piece of advice that worked well for me while I was losing that may work for you (and it may not, everyone is different and you do have to find what works bets for you). I am one of those people who when they eat a bit more than they should, just says screw and it used to make me get off track with my healthy eating very quickly (well, I already screwed up and ate 3 cookies, might as well eat 3 more... then 3 more...) You get the point. So, when I was counting, I had a set calorie goal (about 500 or so below maintenance), and while I would aim for that, my true goal was to simply stay at or under maitenance. What this did for me was give me a little more leeway if I did have a weak moment and helped me not beat myself up for eating that 3rd cookie, because I knew I could still reach my goal. Anyway, it really helped me be successful, so just remember, if you have a not so healthy day, thats ok, sometimes its good for your mental well being, and it really won't hurt you in the long run as long as you get back on track the next day!
Hi to all! Welcome fluffyveed4!
ttmckoy, dont be too hard on yourself.. you keep coming and visiting here, and everytime you feel like you fall down, i guarantee there will be a hand reaching out to help pull you back up! I know it is so hard, but it really comes down to patience.. I have a hard time with it too- I want to look like one of those victorias secret models..lol.. but it isnt going to happen tomorrow! Four days can seem like an awful long time when you want it so bad and that scale dont move too much, or at all, or in the wrong direction! You keep on picturing yourself in those skinny jeans, turtle neck and fab boots, and remember that picture hard and clear when you want to eat the wrong things and give up.. you keep on with it, and it will get a little easier after a few weeks, and you will see progress, and soon you will be in those clothes you want! I started with CC the last day of April, and I have lost at least 20 lbs or better since the winter (I didnt have a scale then) I have dropped a few sizes in pants, and I notice a difference in my energy, and I have fell down quite a few times, but I get up and start going again. I can't tell you how much this site and the threads like this one help keep me on track. I really love the support here. You stick around here, you wont give up again. :)
Lynn, Thanks for your support! OJ and molasses? huh. I might try that.. sounds like an unusual combination though. That is funny about your car- I used to have a 92 dodge shadow- quite a long time ago, but I liked it. It wasnt the convertible though- just the sedan. I think it got pretty good mileage though. Watch the paint job though, if it still has the original paint. I think 91- 93 shadows had something wrong with the paint they used- mine started just peeling off in chunks, and then I found out it was some kind of defect and they switched the paints after that. It was a nice car otherwise though. Oh, my oldest son is the same age as your oldest daughter! He will be 14 in January too- his birthday is Jan 14- so it will be his 'golden' birthday. Jeez, I havent even thought much about him driving yet- kinda scares me! He rides on an atv at my folks house, thats about all I'm ready for for now. Oh, I also got that book- A New Earth- havent really had a chance to start it yet though.. I'll let you know when I get into it. Thanks again!
Manta, I did the same thing- got rid of all those skinny clothes! I bought bigger and bigger sizes, thinking I was destined to stay a 'fat mama'. And then like you, something clicked in my head, and here I am, I am starting to lose, and I did have to go get a couple smaller pants and shorts already. I really envy you though- already to your goal.. wish I was too.
happyjoyjoy, thanks! I know what you mean about wishing for the younger days with the kids sometimes.. My oldest just became a teenager and dont want no cuddling or 'being seen with mom' too much either. My girl is almost 10 going on 20.. She gets more phone calls than me! My youngest boys (twins) will be six in a few weeks.. they are pretty big for their age, so they dont seem so much like babies no more. They still let me cuddle though. :)
Hello, I am new to this thread, but have been lurking occasionaly since it's start. I am almost 30. The end of August is when the big day hits. I am not sure why, but it scares me. I should be ok with it. I have accomplished a lot in my life, but I am not ok with it. I think my body is already rebelling because I have been working out like a fiend since February and have only lost 5 pounds. Very frustrating. I even cut out my Diet Pepsi addiction.
A little about me: I am 5"5, 169lbs (NOT 170 ever again), I am married and have 3 girls. I am a high school English teacher, but I promise not to correct your grammar and to make a few spelling errors myself since I don't proof my entries much. If you have room for one more, I would love to join, even though I am a month shy of 30.
Welcome love2hatetreamills...
Wow you ladies are great….thanks so much for the words of encouragement…I really need it. OJ and molasses…girl that will take away any sugar craving!! I will have to try that one.
Anyone ever taken Alli…I am taking in conjunction with the low calorie low fat diet….I hear it has nasty side affects but I have not experienced them…thank goodness.
Hi everyone. Hope everyone is doing well. Oj & molasses. I'm going to have to try that because I get sugar cravings everyday. I'm just a big sugar junkie. Bad! Very bad. I hope I still have teeth by my 40th birthday.
Welcome love2hatetreamills... don't let your 30's scare you, 30 is the new 20! Ha! I am actually kind of enjoying my 30's more than I thought I would (32 now), I was like you, just not ok with turning 30 even though I had accomplished quite a bit in my 20's (got my PhD, traveled the world, lived in 2 countries other than the states, got married, and had a baby... nothing like shoving it all in!). But, instead, I have found that its a great decade for me at least because I am finding a lot of the things I stressed about in my 20's just no longer apply and I like the way my life has turned out so far, there must be so much more to look forward too (my 2.5 year old really makes life that much more fulfilling). I dunno, I don't feel old like I used to think 30 was, I am active, healthy, and happy, what more can I ask for right?
Wendy, you WILL get to your goal. I started my weight loss at the end of Nov 2007, I was down from 167 to ~140 by Easter 2008, and since then I haven't really been trying so much, but it still happened. I just find it amazing how much my mood improves with healthy eating and exercise. The longer I do it, the happier with myself I become.
And wow, you guys can keep the molasses and oj.... doesn't sound even remotely appealing to me, give me a piece of dark chocolate, that usually does the trick!
Had a lovely relaxing 5 mile run today on my lunch break. Now if only it would get warmer here (did I mention that I HATE winter!) I really should work out how to live half the year in the states and half the year here in Oz... would be the perfect combo!
Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Thank you Manta515! That is a smart tactic for limiting the wine during weightloss - I will try that down the road. So far, I have been 3 weeks without a drop of wine and I have to say that I don't miss it right now. However, I know that once I taste it again, I will be dying for more! Right now I am trying to get up the motivation to go for a run myself! I am completely sore today from my weight lifting workout yesterday. I should probably rest, but am forcing myself to run today and work through it! ...Winter down there ehh? I don't miss that at all - I'm in Michigan so it will come!
Hope everyone is doing well and still on track!

Excellent! Keep up the good work!
I love red wine. I guess it is the one vice I have kept (in moderation of course). I did however give up my Diet Pepsi addiction. It is so hard, but I think it helped me break my plateau.
Fluffy - where in MI?
TT - be careful with medication/diet pills. In the past I have tried everything on the market, and they can have some nasty side effects. Unfortunately they aren't real good about telling you what they are until after they have been on the market for awhile. I have found diet and exercise are really the only thing you can be sure of.
Hello All and welcome any newbies
The weekend is almost gone...weekends are the hardest for me, but so far so good. Saturday I was even under my calorie goal. I ran a local fundraising race with my daughter. It was great but running with a stroller is hard as heck. My time was awful. So I have some running goals to accomplish now. I weighed in and I lose 3lbs so just 15 more to go before I feel fabulous.
love2hatetreamills-thanks the advice. I will be careful.
I hope everyone had a fat-free, low calorie weekend.
