Lauren in San Diego here (5'11''). I was up to almost 180 lbs at the end of last year and I lost about 10 pounds during Jan-Feb and then got lazy. I need to get back on the wagon. I think I weigh around 170 and I would like to be 150. Weigh in on Fridays for me starting tomorrow. I would love to chat with others who have similar stats and goals to stay motivated. All my girlfriends are little petites, I need some amazon love!!

Everyone is doing so well. My hardest problem has been all of our Summer visitors. It's so hard not to scarf down the BBQ, and wine and be merry w/ the rest of 'em! Seeing all of you weigh in every week has been a great motivator to stay on track.
I just started a new thread in the lounge that I hope will catch on. It's patterned after the "FreeCycle" concept.
{Edit: I removed the thread because there was zero interest in the idea. One of the moderators told me that they had tried the idea several times before but it never caught on. Oh well, it was worth a shot.}

Good Monday Morning.. . well not so much, this week is the first week I've been really worried about putting on weight, because I ate and drank way too much over the weekend ahh!! So I'm drinking loads of water and am going to up the exercise and decrease the cals, its been so long since I've had crazy weekends and I've a few coming up, so how do you all do it? I weighed myself yesterday morning and "gained" 4 lbs so I realise i didnt actually put on 4 lbs but I maybe put on 1 or 2 im a bit freaked out, how long do you think it would be before I see my true weight again and figure out the damage I've done!

Mondays are always a little harder for me to get going, too. But my weight dropped another 1.2 lbs this morning. So I'm very happy this Monday.
You know I think it's okay to take a day or two off every now and then. We don't need to feel guilty about that. But we also need to keep in mind that being healthy is a lifestyle not just a diet we go on and off of. So, when we splurge every now and then we should ask ourselves if our splurges really fit into the kind of lifestyle we want for ourselves or if they could lead us in down the path to an unhealthy lifestyle.
My biggest temptations are to binge on high calorie foods and drinks at family gatherings and social functions. I'm trying to learn that I can still enjoy these functions without going overboard. In other words, I feel okay about eating a piece of cake or drinking a glass or two of wine once in a while but I never want to binge again. Binging is just too much a part of my old life style; the one I'm trying to change.
All of us will occasionally do more than we should. But the important thing to remember is that we can and should quickly get right back on track. We don't need to beat ourselves up for slipping up once in a while but we do need to reconsider how to handle the next occasion. Do we need to avoid it all together or can we face it with a little more discipline and enjoy a little indulgence without loosing control?
For what it's worth, these are the ramblings of a 53 year old who used to have the figure of a model but also lost it somewhere along the way and is now trying to get it back.

Hey Carol, dont even worry about it. I know you couldnt have eaten 14000 cals...its just like you told me last Monday. And you were right! I lost the 4lbs I "gained" in my 3 day binge weekend and a pound more. I was 161 yesterday...so you might even say 2lbs more! I lost 5-6lbs this week (I was up to 162.2 this morning but im a little bloated) aaanyways, just work super extra hard and get excellent defecits everyday this week...I doubt it will set you back much at all. :) No worries.
Sorry I'm late! Was out of town and didn't get to post...but...no changes as of yet...still hovering at 164 as of Fri.
Pressing on....this is the week!!! I know it!

HI all, I too had a family weekend (wedding) I didn't gainany according to this mornings weigh in but I haven't lost any for several weeks. I'm going to try to increase the exercise a little bit and maybe that will help. I hope everyone has a good week

Regarding shoe size...
I'm 6' and when I was 19 (6' then too), I wore a size 7 narrow! But my feet grew with my first pregnancy. After my first baby, I wore a size 8 med. After my second baby, I wore a size 8 1/2 to 9 med.
I now wear a size 9 med. (I'm 53.) But I sometimes wear an 8 1/2 in sandals. I think I'm a small frame person except maybe in my hips which are wider.

hope i'm not too late to join! i'm 5'10 about 180 and i wanna get down to about 168 (yea i kno its no twenty but i need the help!) so far i've lost 3 lbs ( i started at 182) but to idk if anyone else feels this way but when i work hard to eat right and exercise, the weight doesnt move but if i do it uncounsciously, i lose the weight!! i need help to keep me motivated so i kno eventually i will lose the weight i want =)
i have another question!! im pretty active but not like crazy crazy. i consume about 1300 cal to 1600 a day. my burn meter says my burn estimate is almost 3000. should i eat more than 1300-1600 a day? i mean i'm at a loss. HELP!!!
toasize10: I would say your doing a great job! Maybe eat 1600 cals most days if you're gonna be working out a lot or are generally active and on the days you take it easy, stick between 1300-1400cals.
Hi Everybody, I am Eileen and I too am a tall girl! I am 5' 11" and about 180lbs. Due to the gas crunch I have for the past 2months been riding my bike to work (3x's a week) and eating a reduced calorie diet. My weight goals are 165 (would make Eileen uber happy) But I would be happy with 170.

Im here in Red Bank, NJ. I'm 5'11' 166 lbs medium frame. My goal weight currently is 155. So, its not as much as others but I'm loving the tall girl thread. It's so hard to compare to 'average' height girls. Although I do have to say that I like that most people think I weight less (I usually get the, 'what you must weight 130?). Maybe if you cut my leg off! Anyways great to see all of you girls getting healthy. Go you!
ps. My shoe size is 11 and I love to rock my stilettos! I just say its everyone else's problem if they care that I'm so tall. I want the sexy shoes too!

i joined this not only because im tall but i cant seem to stay motivated. i feel as though my fat will never come off!!! no matter how much i work out...now i have class from 945am to 1pm. and its a lot of work for these classes so i usually dont workout at night unless its squats or lunges. what should i do? workout in the mornings (like jog/sprint around my neighborhood a few times) or workout dvds in the morn or night? also i like carbs but i feel as tho im depriving myself if i dont eat one carb a day or every few days...how can i incorporate carbs in my daily eating without gaining weight?
ANYONE can answer the questions!!! lol

If you don't feel like your cholesterol is high, no worries, right? Wrong. High cholesterol gives no warnings and could be deadly.
