I'll be 43 this June anyone around the same age want to join my weight loss quest?

Greetings!

I am hoping that this site I stumbled on will help me out. I have been on a diet or fighting with food my entire life. About 8 years ago I lost about 100 pounds, my lowest weight was 204 then I had my first child at 40. Now I am 220 and he'll be three this June. The only good news is that I do not weight 300 + pounds anymore having said that - No excuses, my food addiction problem has been out of control now since his birth. I try - and try - and try - and still nothing seems to be working. Maybe I can find a friend here who will help give me the strength I need to be healthy. I need to stay alive for my family.

Thanks guys...I had a friend lost almost 50 pounds and I didn't notice, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

As far as feeling better, A couple of weeks ago, I was out of town for a few days and went about 5 days without taking my vitamins and I could not believe how bad I felt. I was dog tired. I don't remember feeling that way before I started taking vitamins about a month ago. Started taking them again and now I feel great. Very strange. Think my body just got used to them being there?

Noone has gained yet. GREAT!  Holding steady is better than a gain! And Terry, you are doing fantastic. Don't be so hard on yourself. And some people just don't say anything to people who lose weight.

tsjej - Terry 245 (-3lbs, Worst week so far)

mcs1229 - Marie 217 same (and rightly so!)

abwy - Hope (-2lbs. YEAH 151)

cynthb - Cynthia 174.2 -2lbs from when I got the new scale Sat (+4lb difference between scales)

omagraf- Sandy 162 (holding steady, stubborn weight) I did deserve it after 2 beers on St Pat's day though...it was worth it!!! Life's too short.

Momof2funykds - Tammy 194 (-3 lbs AGAIN!!!) I'm on a roll.....can't stop me now!

DCCD - 181 (-5 from over-inflated report last week after eating all day and weighing in at night!! Still lower than I was so happy!!)

It suddenly occurred to me that I am one of only about 4 people in my office who are seriously trying to lose weight and I was the only one who noticed the weight loss success of one of the other 3...Do you suppose that since the others are not watching their weight they don't think about such things and therefore do not notice? I know that when I need to buy I new pair of shoes I tend to notice what other people are wearing more....

Just one of those random thoughts that popped into my head. I managed to get a nasty sinus thing this weekend and am feeling a little drug headed today. Hope everyone is doing well today, I was not watching my intake this weekend (all the soup, tea and hot stuff I could get hold of) because of the head thing. Hopefully I will be able to not gain this week and who knows, maybe I'll lose some!

By the way we are getting a spring this year right? I didn't miss the weather channel special on the "lost spring" did I? This week is yet another round of windy cold and yucky ahead of us here. I am so ready for a sunburn!!

Sorry to hear about the sinus thing!

This weekend I had a lot of eating out, but I tried to make good choices.  I'm glad I fit my run in on Friday.  We still have one family dinner at my in-laws tonight.  I'm not expecting to go down much this week as a result.

I'm really looking forward to spring too :)

I had a pretty good weekend. Much better than the previous two. Let's see if it shows up in the losses this week.

Spring is close here in Ohio. This week we are supposedly in the 50s with rain. I managed to walk at the local arboretum at lunch today even though it was only about 40. Wasn't too bad once I got moving. Only did 2 miles. I noticed I can get in 2.4 miles at the mall during lunch, but only 2 at the Arb. Must be the elevation changes, terrain, etc. Planning a bike ride after work on Wednesday with a friend who is also trying to lose. Probably going to stick to maybe 8-10 miles. Need to get the bike out and get it ready.

As a side note, remember me asking about no one noticing? Well, I passed a guy in the hall that I used to work with and he asked me if I am losing weight? Thought it was pretty funny.

The sinus thing must be going around. Me and hubby have been suffering all weekend. We took medicine, but it just hangs on.

Terry - I'm in Pa and we get what ohio gets a day or two later. so tell me when Spring has sprung there so I'll be looking for it!!! LOL

No school for the kids today but my son has track practice. I wasn't planning on going out, but hubby said he'd take him if I'd pick him up. So I suppose I have to go out.

Well....BBL

Sheesh folks...where did everyone go? Hopefully everyone is still out there working their butts off and sticking to it. I have been so frustrated the last couple of weeks...pulled something in my back which makes it tough to exercise, then I have had an allergic reaction to something...tough week...but I am still hanging in there.

Hi Terry!  I was waiting for someone to post! Thought everyone left. I just keep looking to see if anyone is on here. Maybe the warm weather in some parts has ppl outside instead of on the computer. Hope your back gets to feeling better. I know all about back problems!

I've been having sinus headaches all week! GRRRRR They seem to just hang on and won't leave! lol

Hope everyone has a nice day! BBL

Hope you both feel better!

I'm still here too!  I was really busy all weekend.  I didn't run Monday because we had a bunch of running around to do taking our hedgehogs to the vet for a checkup and nail trim, but I started yesterday with weights for the first time in a couple of years.  I have a set of dumbbells that goes up by 3lb increments and a floor mat, and I'm doing this routine from the Exercises section on this site.

It's sunny today and I want to be outside!  Hope everyone has a great day :)

Greetings,

I am back from Northern Maine. They have over 200 inches of snow!!! It is good to be home in Ct with no snow. I will be  in for the weigh in this friday. At this point I will be happy just to have stayed the same. I was not very good while i was gone.Frown

Glad to see you two back again! 200 inches of snow is a whole lot of snow!!! wow!  cbear, I would rather stay the same compared to gaining. lol  It's hard to stick to something when you are away from home.

My son (who is 15) is going back to boxing today. He went for a year, but we stopped taking him when we moved further away. He's really missed it. So hubby has decided to start taking him again. They are happy about it, not sure how I feel again. I don't like seeing him getting hit in the face!

Well, heading into the kitchen to start dinner. Looks like hubby wants steak. I wanted subway! oh well.....I lose!

BBL

you are right staying the same would be ok.I just had the best snack tonight.I took one of my 90 calorie fat free chocolate pudding and put it in the freezer. It taste just like a fudge pop. I think its my new favorite.

i dont think I would like to  be around when my son was getting hit in the face either.

Hope every one is having a good week.

Cbear

Still here too.....my daughter is on spring break this week so we have been hanging out together and I haven't been on the computer much.  She is 6 and yesterday we went shopping and today I took her to lunch and then to the park.  We watered the garden when we got home.  Our high was 75 today!!!!  Can't even imagine SNOW!!!!!

I cant wait to see 75 degrees . My husband just recently bought a Harley Davidson and he has been riding but I am waiting for warmer weather.I put a few  pictures in my gallery of the snow banks............. I think they are gonna have snow until June.

hey there everyone    brenda from canada here so i need not worry about southren fried foods ,but i have a hubby that loves to cook and cook big,and i cant so no the foods soooooo good,,,ive just turned 41 and weigh 180,5'4 now i really dont understand how this calorie count works it says i should have 1900 cal a day is that right ,i do exercise everyday and burn an average of 800-1000 calories so how many calories should i eat and are the weiegh ins on fri then let me know    thanks brenda

Hi there Brenda, our little group weighs in on Friday to keep track of themselves. The 1900 cal they reccommend is based on your body type and what they expect your body to burn with no additional exercise. Of course if you stay below this you will lose weight, if you eat 1900 calories but add more exercise to your day you will lose weight. There have been lots of discussions about this with us, you can catch up on us by reading our earlier posts.

Glad you came by & hope to hear from you on Friday.

By the way; I have been checking the posts everyday (sick this week) and haven't posted myself because I didn't want to appear too obsessed with the posts (not like I have done much else lately). I think that I have lost a little this week (amazing since I have lungs of granite and can't exercise). I may have to say that there is something to this eating soup thing I hear on the commercial. "I am on the all soup all week diet"...Did someone say something about steak? I haven't had the energy to chew but that sounds really good right now...

I was wondering where everyone was myself, I think we have lost track of a few people here...If you are out there others I hope to see you check back in on Friday at least. Think I'll go catch my breath too much typing...SmileHAH!

Good morning all....Got on the scales this morning and I am down a total of 30lbs. Mixed emotions this morning. Happy that I am losing, but I have some other crap going on that is causing some rain on my parade, but hopefully everything will clear up for a great weekend.

Last couple of weeks, I have really slowed, but I have had terrible weekends in regards to eating right, exercise, etc. This week I decided to give an honest effort from Friday to Friday and it looks like it might be paying off.

Good luck to everyone and welcome Brenda!

Terry

Good morning everyone, and welcome Brenda!

Congrats Terry, 30 lbs is incredible!  You've really worked to deserve it.

I don't know if I'll go down anything this week.  I've been really good, though, so we'll have to see.  That four-day weekend did some damage, though.  Last night I ran on the elliptical, plus my husband and I went for a walk after supper.  I'm still sore from weights Tuesday night, but I'll have a go again tonight.

We have pretty good snow banks here too; no pictures but some are over my head where the plough has pushed the snow to the side.  It'll take a while before they go, that's for sure.

Have a great day and see you for the weigh-in!

Okay...it stopped raining on my parade today. I had real scare over the past several days. I was having some pain and the doctor sent me for chest xrays and some other tests to make sure something wasn't going on in my lungs. My father had lung cancer and died at the age of 48. So at 41, I immediately assumed the worse. Anyway, all the results came back about an hour ago and all is well. I have been trying to not let it affect me, but I was really struggling with it for a few days. Now maybe I can get back to normal. Laughing
