I'm crying as I'm typing, so please overlook all typos...I'm really not all here.
Our son, who turned 18 last month, has been missing now for 76 hours. He went to work Monday, left work and no one has heard from him nor seen him since. He wasn't having any problems with us, Sunday we all were together and had a great time. He wasn't having any problems with his girlfriend. He did have a bad day at work and we are guessing he went off on a drive too cool down, but we really don't know. He didn't say anything to anybody about where he was going. He was in a hurry to get to work that day and left his wallet home. So he has no money on him nor any access to money. We were able to get into his bank account today and there hasn't been any unusual activity in the last month. We have called everyone he knows and no one knows anything. His girlfriend has called everyone she can think of too.
This is so out of character for him. He has never done anything like this before.
The police are involved and doing all they can. Two different aerial searches were done today and tomorrow there is a ground search going on with volunteers and the police department. He has been listed as a missing person in all 50 states along with a description of his blazer. The police department made up fliers for us to put around town. The top of it says "Missing Person, Suspicious Circumstances".
This is so unreal. This is something that happens on TV, not in real life. The roller coaster of emotions is beyond imagination. The possibilities of what has happened to him and where he might be are endless. To the East of us is a canyon, to the West is desert hills. He could be anywhere. Not knowing anything is the worst.
My husband and our other children are hitting their limits too. Our home is crazy is an understatement. We have had lots of friends and family offer love and support. Meals have been brought in for three days. Our phones are ringing off the hook with well wishers and everyone wondering what they can do.
I'm sorry for going on and on, I just want to cover all the bases, but I'm sure I've missed some things.
Prayers are definitely welcome.
Mostly I'm still in shock. I'm not sure I'll be back on the site for a while. I will post as soon as we know anything.
Please everyone take care, and go hug your kids...

I tried uploading the flier but it didn't happen, I'm not sure why.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. It does help to know that people care.
EDIT: I took a picture of the flier and added it to my pictures

{{shannon}} Still here for you and hoping for the best.

we are continually thinking of you and your hubby. keep your faith. God Bless
Hi Shannon - I have been following your ordeal and wanted to reiterate the wishes of hope, strength and faith that so many have already conveyed. I pray that your son, Chris, is found safe and I pray that in your darkest moments you and your husband find comfort in each other... Your sweet boy will come back to you soon.
Warm wishes from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
I can't believe we are going through another weekend. When I first started this tread I never would have guessed that I would still be updating over two weeks later. I really thought we would have found him by now.
We are running out of things to do to try to find him. It's hard to just sit and hope for a sighting. I really don't know how families do this for months and years. I guess we just keep taking one day at a time. We have tried to keep routine with the other children. They still go to school, football, soccer, piano, scouts, etc. that at least gives us something to do. It's hard to be around people though. I wish I had more to tell them then we still don't know anything.
Thank you again for your support. I am grateful for all of you!
~Shannon
I will keep your son and your family (you included, obviously) in my prayers, continously.....
Words cannot explain what I WANT to express to you. I know your pain (kindaish). I am not a mother but I lost my older brother last chrismas (he was found 2 days after Christmas, but passed away christmas day).
HOWEVER, much much much different situation than your son. My older brother was very challenged and troubled. His sporadic "disapearances" were never a surprise.
So - in your situation I have faith he will be found. Miracles are visable all over. I fell your pain, some of it at least.
As stated - your in my prayers (at the tippity top of the list)
I am disappointed and upset that no news is listed about your son being home safe. With this said, I can only sympathize how you feel. Heartbroken. Somehow though, it seems like it is just a matter of time that he will show up. Any idea if anyone really has heard from him. Are there any suspicions that he has contacted someone and no one is saying anything. Like on his myspace page? I just keep hearing people referrring to that, often.
I will hold you in prayer, I have asked God to be his guide to come home as guides by our Heavenly Father. Please let him be safe from harm and healthy and just ready to give up this chase, If in fact that is what it is an he is just a "runaway" Has that been considered as a possibility at this point? I was just wondering. Seems odd that no car has been found.
Heres to you with all my prayers and love. God Bless. Your sister in Christ,
1heavenlybody
I wonder if he knows just how many of us truly care about the outcome of the situation. I hope he can feel our love and support. I hope he knows we all want him to be found and HOME!
Keep hanging on. He is coming, just hold on!
)))) HUGS ((((
We are also looking at doing a "Benefit Concert" with some of the local musicians. I'm stating to feel like every time I turn around I need to through a party of some sort so the media will have something to run.
The other hard part of doing all of this is I keep telling myself that by the time we have the T-shirts made or the concert that he will be home, that if we can just make it a couple more days we will find him. But I've been saying that for three weeks, so I guess we keep going forward. It still isn't real sometimes.
If anyone has any other publicity stunt ideas I'm willing to listen.
Thank you again for all of your support. It really does keep me going.
~Shannon
I'm not sure if this will be of any help, but this website has a section about "The Media"....
"When your Child Is Missing: A Family Survival Guide:
http://www.ojjdp.ncjrs.org/pubs/childismissin g/contents.html
It mentions a few things you can do to keep Chris' name/face in the news....things like placing a letter to Chris in the newspaper, getting radio stations involved, tshirts & buttons, finding new "hooks" to keep the media involved.
Wish I could be of more help....(((HUGS)))
~Sue
I don't know how helpful this is (since I don't live in your area) but I e-mailed everyone in my address book with the website. I hope some good news comes up soon.
*Hugs*
Shannon, If you have the means to put the benefit concert on, do it. His friends would attend, and if any of them know anything they're not sharing, the concert might compel them to open up. Music has a way of stirring us. And even if he's found before the concert it could be used as a celebration of his return, and a public awareness forum, and any proceeds can be given to a missing persons charity.
I will continue praying for him and your family and his friends and the search teams and the media.
