I found Slim  in  6  to be great for toning, it is not dreadfully hard to do. I did the 6 weeks and found my self toned!  I looked great, I did the Slim and Six pack daily too which made my abs look decent.  I have not done this in about 2 years now but would love to start it again, that is if i can get my girls to nap at the same time!  Anyone doing it, or about to start it?  I am ready for the 6 week challenge.  I am eager to start but fear not following through... I know it works!  I have seen results firsthand!  I need a buddy!

day 3 of RIU.... day 2 was bad but still better than the 1st day, that was really hectic... the legs are the most painful for me seeing as i run everyday and then come home to RIU... still feeling good though.  The resistance band wasnt for me so i stuck my weights.
Wow messam - cardio then RIU? ;) I would do it the other way around. that way you won't get winded. RIU is resistance training after all, and it's usually better for endurance to do it first then cardio. Of course you can also drink sports drink or eat banana or apple to fuel your crazy workout ^.~

gurly - check your email :) & hope to see you in the SI6 Challenge soon!

BTW, variation day for me today. Learning some new routine from TJ. Will continue on to SI6 tomorrow :)

You guys are doing so great & so motivating (especially for those who has been doing SI6 for a while, like me)! Keep it up, ladies ^-^b
sweet_tart- I run 1st because if iI dont then I wont... have the motivation that is to do anything but RIU.

today was better way better so i think as the days progress... so will I.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY ^__^

**carefully putting away the chocolate box faaar away from herself**
Happy VD to all of you!

I am saddened that our snow storm turned out to be just sleet and rain, freezing on the roads... I can't believe that it is Feb 14th and RI has yet to see snow... that is sooo weird!

I am preparing myself mentally to get going on my BIU...  I think I can, I think I can, I think I can...   Ugh Motivation is not up to par today... needed to visit here to put me in the spirit...  I have an awesome meal planned for tonight...  Keep telling myself I wont enjoy it if I dont get BIU done!

update you all when I accomplished it!
Today was supposed to be my day off, but somehow I decided to walk back from the office (around 2 miles) and this put me in the "exercise" state of mind. Now I'm preparing for my BIU and save this day off for tomorrow (you see, I have a meeting in a different part of the town until 19.00 and I'll be home around 20.00 or so). Last days, after the BIU, I did the 6 Pack and it felt good. I also discovered the stretching tape (I mean I started to practice it) and it's just wonderful! After 60 min of BIU and 12 of abs, there's nothing more relaxing then 15 min of stretching!!!!!!!!!! Have you tried this? Hope so... Now I'm making the stretching part my reward for a good BIU.

Alydaven: hope you did your BIU so that you can enjoy your special dinner. LOL. And you know something? We were supposed to have snow all around the town, but we kind of skiped from autumn directly to spring. The winter was...in holiday or something. No snow this year. Too bad.

Happy VD, girls (and boys, if you happen to read this).
I did my BIU! Ahh what a great feeling that is!

I also put all my calories in for this evenings meal... it comes to 1550!  That is with dessert! We are having fresh mozarella/tomato for starters, then soft shell crabs (a fav of Eric's since we first had them in Charleston SC, no one in RI knows what they are!)  Then the main course, bacon wrapped sirlions with whole wheat pilaf and aparagus, then angel food cake with strawberries!  Okay so most of my calories are for my meal this evening.  I had to sacrifice and only have my protein for breakfast, a yogurt and banana for lunch!

Cant wait for my honey to get home from work!
Hi there...I really enjoy reading all of your postings. It's so nice to know that others are committed to working out and doing the same routines that i'm doing.  I completed day two of RIU last night...oh boy you gotta love the pain of those leg lifts.  BTW:   I see that one of resides in RI - where are all of you from?  I'm julie in California!!  Happy V Day!
Ok, I just bought this after reading this thread and looking forward to joining everyone!
mmljulie and anxious 1: welcome to our club!!!! So good to see that we are growing! Hope to share your successes along the way and congrat you for your results.

alydaven: I hate you so much right now! LOL. Valentine's Day it's not a tradition in my country (Romania, Europe julie, since you asked..) so I have no excuses for such a dinner. Not even for the cake.... But I'll think of something. Something like: "I need to lose weight. I need to lose...". Seriously now, good for you that you finished BIU. Enjoy you VD and your evening!
Happy Valentines Day everyone! I am getting ready for my BIU. Woo Hoo.

We are not celebrating until Saturday...champgane, key lime bars (chris loves em!) and dark choc covered strawberries! Today I slipped a Valentine into his lab coat pocket ;)

Off to Burn It Up!
Good job, aly, for doing the BIU & managed only 1550cal on special day like this! ^_^b (I am up to 1200 already I think, thanks to 240cal of half a muffin!!! grr.... that left only 300 for tonight... Oh well, I better crank up my workout by dinner).

Welcome julie & anxious! Julie, where are you in CA? I'm in CA too (San Francisco)!
Finished BIU.

I wore a heart monitor. For those of you who are wondering I stopped the routine right before the crunches and I burned 359 calories. It will be different for everyone though. I am 5'5 and I weigh about 122. I am also pretty used to the routine so if you were new at BIU but had similar stats you might burn more. Or if you are a better fitness level you may burn less.

Oh yeah, Julie and SweetTart, I am in California too. Riverside to be exact. It's the desert and I am a beach girl...booo!
Cool taylor. Thanks for sharing. Now at least we got an idea on the cal burn. I am thinking about hinting on HRM for my Bday present. Which one you got?

BTW I tried Turbo Jam. It's pretty good. The Turbo Sculpt is a more concentrated resistance training (40min worth). I gotta reitterate this, again, that SI6 moves are much easier to follow because it is basic, and still give you result. However, if you looking for variety, Turbo Sculpt is fun. Also, since you are already doing SI6, your fitness level should be on par and you will it find it easy to follow. The only thing that I think missing from TJ is warm-ups. I like the warm ups in SI6. It really gets you warmed up for the sets. So, If you do want to try TJ, I suggest you do a 5 min warm up first.
Did my BIU for today!  Yippy!

Last night was great, food was delish!  Hubbie was happy (he always is!)  and the kids were so funny!  We eat together every night but last night seemed so special... maybe the whole Valentine's Day thing...  Lit the fireplace and my house seemed so much more cozier then before.   Made me happy that we didnt have reservations to go out.  Nevermind that the roads have a nice layer of ice on them...

I honestly believe that I have a better outlook, better appreciation for things when I am doing something healthy for myself.  Thanks for all your motivation and providing me with the strength to keep going!   I did put a pic of me in the profile form last night.
Hi there...Last night was day 3 of RIU.  I found it to be easier on the cardio pull, but a bit harder on the muscles...they feel a little week and tired.  That's not going to stop me though.  I'm getting ready to get day four behind me in the next few minutes.  I'm a little discouraged about the calorie comment of only 359 calories.  I was doing the stationary bike for less time and burning that amount.  I know it varies per individual and you sound like you're in great shape at 122 lbs.

I haven't actually measured myself and should probably do that to keep motivated.  In just two weeks though i feel a change beginning to take place so i'm very excited.

Sweet_tart - i'm up in Petaluma...going to be in SF on Sat night for a company party woo hoo!!!
julie - wow! you're not that far :D This weekend I am gone to Las Vegas until next week. But we shd arrange sometime to get together for sure!

aly - you're beautiful *^^* Your body is getting toned-up! Can see the progression. Keep it up, woman. You gonna look hawt by summer! (P.S. your wedding pic so beautiful)
yeah aly, love the pics. you are looking great :)

sweet- i have the polar f4 heart monitor, i got it for christmas. i think the price is around 80. i love it. it's a basic model, it tells the duration of workout, avg heart rate, time spent in target heart range and calories burned. it will also keep totals until you clear them, so you could keep your totals to see how many cals you burned with exercise for the week. i love it.

mmljulie- please don't be discouraged by the calorie burn. i was at first too. when i add that to eating less calories than used on a daily basis it's usually a healthy defecit...if i stay in my cals :P
julie - yeah, don't sweat of the the amount of calories burned. Remember this is not a cardio. It is also a weight training. Cardio session by nature will burn more calories. The idea is you do it for a longer period of time to pass the glycogen burning point to start burning fat. Weight training is not solely geared to burn calories, as it is aimed to build muscles. During weight training typically you derive energy/strength from glycogen reserve. As far as the idea of how much calories does muscles burn during resting is still debateable; but, it does take more energy to maintain muscles. On the other hand, with cardio HIIT you also burn calories during post workout.

One is not better than the other, as each has different purpose. That is why it is adviseable always to combine both. SI6 combined both in each routine, that is what I like about it.

If you feel (like me) that you need extra fat burning session, you can add cardio session pre/post SI6. I do mine after RIU, messam does hers before SI6 (test yourself and feel which one works for yourself). And with BIU, if I want to do cardio the same day, I do one in the morning and the other in the evening.
Aly: you are looking great! Keep up the good work.

sweet_tart: I'm happy you posted a picture where I can see your face. Good to "know" you!

I just finished my workout (BIU + 6 pack + stretching) and after all that the lady that gives me once a week a massage came. She was amazed by the difference since last week! It made me feel good. But now I have to go and eat dinner, otherwise it's getting too late. Have an excellent day and "see" you tomorrow for another slice of motivation...
