Sun,
I don't think it's physically possible to gain 15 pounds in a week. Could your scales have malfunctioned? Are they digital? Maybe the battery is getting low or they got wet? Could you be retaining water due to the binge? How was the sodium on the foods you ate?
You would have had to taken in 52,500 cals more than you burnt to gain that much in one week. I really think you will have a more accurate weigh in come Monday at the doctor's office.

Well I gained one pound this month. I don't think that's too bad for all the drama of my business closing. I'll do better next month :)
Sun,
Well, I must concur with the previous posts about gaining 15 pounds in a week! Unnnnlesssss... (and I'm not judging your menu choices here, I'm just sayin') you ate some sort of small animal, then I'd have to conclude you may still be digesting the bones and gristle (that takes some time you know). Nah, seriously, I think your scale is on the fritz. Couple of options here:
1) wing it out the window (the scale that is)
2) take a nice hot steamy sauna and sweat it out
3) give yourself a "do over"
4) a1 and a2 and a3
5) a & b
6) x+9=y
7) nunya
8) all of the above
9) Milwaukee
Don't sweat it (unless you picked #2 above, then you would need to sweat of course). heh heh :-P
Hello Everyone.
I hope all of you are doing wonderful. ![]()

Andria, I was thinking about the water because thursday clean eating was normal but today (warning: too much info) I was 'going' all day although I wasnt drinking any more but plan to. Anyway, I kept wondering is that coincidence or related to lowering water retention.
Another clean day, its a great feeling!
Sun123 .... I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of those 15 pounds are water retention and unexpelled waste. Monday will be better.
As for me, I lost 10.6 pounds in January.
This morning's USWID (unofficial sneaky weigh in day) was disappointing and showed water retention (gain) .... my period is just ending up. Tomorrow will be my OWID (official weigh in day) and if I see a 1 pound loss for the week, that will probably be as good as it gets.
Since I will be out of town for more than 14 days in February (with no access to grocery stores, Internet, or having any control over food choices most of the time), my goal for February is MAINTENANCE.
MOLLY
Thanks to all who've provided February weigh-ins. I will be updating the OP as numbers come in.
Also a belated welcome to Tina!
As stated above, my January loss was 10.6 pounds ... and I'm off to a slow start for February.
Well, this week was a bit disappointing for me since I didn't lose 2 pounds. My TOM ended on Friday, so I was hoping my Sunday (today) any retained water would be long gone. Oh well, I did lose 1.4 pounds ... so the week was still in the "loss" category. I've now lost 79.6 pounds which I've decided to round up and just say that I've lost 80 pounds.... I like nice, round numbers, ya know? I've decided that I don't want to reduce my calories, so I guess I will just need to learn to be more accepting of a slower weight loss.... hopefully with minimal ranting, complaining and whining. And I am slowly working on increasing my treadmill walking which should help with toning and inches and cardiovascular health. (Sun123 ... this info isn't for the OP ... just the 10.6 is!)
This next week is my last full week at home, and I want to make the best of it before my 3 days at the coast with my in-laws, and then 10 days on my business trip to Michigan. Among other things, I want to treadmill EVERY day and (if the sun is out) get some sunshine every day, too. And of course I'll eat lots of veggies!
=^..^= MOLLY
Needless to say, I am extremely happy and even more energized to continue. I have been watching everything I eat and walking at least every other day. I realize that much of it must be water weight, however, I am pretty pumped.

I'm sorry I haven't been on the post in a week or so. I was out with appendicitis so I haven't been able to work out or anything for the past week and a half. I am returning to work today, but still won't be able to work out for another week or so. I'm happy to say that I did lose a pound during all this, which is very exciting! I am trying to stay motivated to attain my goal to be at my goal weight when I turn 35. Thanks for all the support and this site is very inspiring!!!
Hey darien7684, Sorry to hear about the appendicitis! Did you have to have your appendix removed? Doesn't sound like very pleasant.
Just curious...does having organs removed count as weight loss, because I'm sure there's some stuff I can live without. Just kidding. Okay, okay, that was a really bad joke. Sorry!
Hope you're feeling better darien and praying for your quick recovery!
SW- November 3, 2007= 313
Feb 2- 2008- 290.2- yeah! I'm out of the 300's.... And then the next day was TOM so I probably lost even more since I was retaining water. I also joined Sparkpeople.com so I have two websites to be accountable to... I figured the more, the merrier.
Still counting down until my doctor appt on the 21st to update bloodwork to see if I am for sure hypothyroid. Been doing well with exercising- actually- I have picked up my exercise- now I am going at least 6 days a week- today I even "jogged" longer than normal. My usual hour walk only took me 50 minutes. And last year it took 1 hour and 15 minutes. The dogs are getting in shape too...
Thanks for checking in Darien and boy have you been through it. Still dropped a pound too! Glad to know your still on board :D
After my crazy last week gain and having lost quite a bit (of the water weight at least) over the weekend for Monday weighin, dont know what to expect for tomorrow at the clinic but hopeful. Probably will need another week to get back fully recover my backslip. I realize I started the thread but its everyone who has kept it going and very thankful to have it, as far as getting back on course.
Original Post by darien7684:
shnitzel - yes I did have to have it removed. It wasn't much fun at all, but then again, at least it's over. And apparently your appendix weights about a pound or so.
Oh oh, stop, my sides are spliting! That is TOO funny...cuz you know I was wondering about that. Sorry about the not fun part, but happy it's over for you.
Well, "Operation Treadmill-Fiber" seems to be working.
I was disappointed on Sunday with just a 1.4 pound loss for last week, which I didn't feel accurately reflected my calorie deficit or my exercise for last week ... so I decided to step things up a notch this week with EXTRA fiber as well as some EXTRA time on the treadmill. (Did you know that one cup of Fiber One cereal is just 120 calories and has 28 grams of fiber? Isn't that amazing?) I've been eating a cup of Fiber One for my evening snack, along with 1/2 cup of unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze (20 calories) .... this serves to keep my blood sugars high enough for my bedtime insulin shot and it fills me up and keeps me from being hungry all evening. (And I've already surpassed my treadmilling goal for this week!)
Anyway, I stepped on the scale this morning and, woo hoo! Down another 2 pounds!!! This puts me at 287.4 and 81.6 pounds lost in less than 6 months!
