Clean Eating Challenge

Ok, there seems to be a mysterious condition going around that is causing sabotage to our eating. I know I'm not alone here when I admit that my eating this past little while leaves a lot to be desired, causing slight weight gain after such hard work to lose it.

I also know, that I am the same person who was practically flawless in my eating for like almost 90 days straight, so I know I can get ahold of this - who's with me?? 

There is no deadline for sign-ups, anyone can join at any time!!

All you have to do is check in once a week (at least) & let us know how you're doing. If/when you "cheat", simply let us know & I will restart your start date.

A cheat is defined as whatever a cheat would mean to you personally, whether it be going over your calories, bingeing, not eating enough, too many treats, etc. We all know when we've cheated, so just be honest with yourself

Let's be honest with each other & keep each other eating clean k? The PRIZE to the winner? Well that's easy - weight loss!!!!!!!!! (or maintenance for those at that stage!) Let's do this!

After being clean for a week after a re-start, I'll re-bold your name. So you always have a chance to feel like you are succeeding. 

Also, if you just don't feel like you want to partake in the challenge anymore, can you let me know so I can remove your name from the list? Thanks!!

Anyone not checking in for one week (December 25 - December 31) will be removed from the challenge.

How cruel is my husband?? I had to drop our laptop off today for repairs & my hubby wanted me to pick him up some "dinner". Well, he ordered take out chinese food!!! Now, we live out of town about 20 minutes, so not only did I have to pick it up for him, I had to smell it the whole way home! Mean, just mean! lol! Well, when he opened it all up I knew I was ok. I didnt even want any in the least. I still had my last meal (my big salad) to eat so I just whipped that together & sat on the loveseat with my knees to my chest, my big salad bowl on my knees & ate up!!

Oh, good news though!! I found a new yummy ice cream treat. Not sure if you have them in the US or not but it's from a company called Skinny Cow. They're jsut round ice cream bars. I got the chocolate kind. And they have the same amoutn of cals as the yogurt granola bars I have as my treat everyday 140 cals! yay! I was waaay down on cals today, less than 1000, so I figured I had room for one. How could I possibly wait till tomorrow. Well, it was soooo good & I called my husband and said "I could totally binge on these right now" but I didnt' :) yay! But I sure knwo what I"m having as my treat tomorrow!!! I better wait till after my last meal, cuz if I have it too early, I'm doomed to have more I"m sure!!!

So to make a short story long, perfect day again & a nice new treat treasure found!!

Oh I'm also gonna try the Fiber 1 Honey Clusters cereal. Everyone says its yummy!

carie87- Was the only cheat the bit of dressing that you didn't even finish? I think what we're tryign to do with this challenge is to just be mindful of what goes into our mouth. I personally would not consider that a cheat if I used regular dressing and ate perfect the rest of the day. Actually, everyday on my salad, I put regular ranch dressing. Nothing compares and the low fat kind sucks big-time. But I just have 1tbsp, EVERY DAY! I love it & look foward to my yummy tasting salad.
How many cals do you normally take in? Cuz I know on Tuesday, my hubby wants to eat out at a restaurant, and just cuz the meal size is gonna be a bit bigger, my cals might be higher than normal, even though I'm gonna pick the healthiest thing on the menu.
My opinion with the info that I have is that you're ok. And dont' forget, we're not striking anyone from the challenge anymore, just re-setting your start date beside your name & writing (restart) next to it. That way we can still celebrate those who did cheat but then went another two weeks in a row clean.
You tell me what you want me to do, k?

dtpatty- congrats on the clean weekend!! Personally, I try to save my daily salad meal as my last just so there's no (or extremely little) carbs in my last meal. But sometimes I have my treat at the end of it, so I do take in some carbs late. I guess you could just add extra veggies & 1/2 the starch portion instead.

lysistrata - congrats, a little drinky-poo here & there is fine I"m sure, esp cuz it was hard liquor and not calorie crushing beer! lol!

chanb73 - Oh boy, better reel those thoughts in fast! I know your tom is coming, so this is your big test and I know you'll pass with flying colors. I'm kinda fortunate cuz I started this challenge right after my p-m binge! lol! Next month I wanna watch the calendar closely and not give in to the p-m binge! We can do it!
To beat them, try to keep yourself busy. Or everytime you think of wanting to eat something do 10 jumping jacks, every time you crave. I dunno. Did you have gum??

x17star17x - I just read your journal entry about your day. Why the hell do people do taht!! Or they insist you can have ONE COOKIE! IT WONT' KILL YOU! Of course it wont kill me stupid! I just dont' want to be fat anymore! ARGGGGGGGG! Crazy non-fat people! Someone once equated it to offering a person who was tryign to quit smoking, a cigarette, like anyone would ever do that???

Finished another day successfully even though it was really stressful due to final exams.

Thank you guys so much. I am now on summer vacation and hope to be able to work out a ton! Abd continue eating right.

Yes ,Dee, Skinny Cow's rock!! I learned about them at a WW meeting several years ago..the ice cream sammies are great but their ice cream cone things are fantastic (i tried choco and caramel vanilla-- yummmie!!) i don't really care for their choco fudgie bars..they were okay but i prefer the others... take care!!!!
Well Dee, in my heart I feel I cheated. I made a choice I would not have. So I guess let me "restart". So far so good today! Thanks for the input! To answer your question, I try to stay around 1200 to 1400 cals. On my "Free" day I try not to go past 2000 and have not yet. Sat. i hit about 1800. Sunday my dressing fiasco put me around 1650. Thanks again for your help! Love this challenge!!!
Yesterday was my first clean day on this challenge.
it was pretty easy.
but i was offered cake twice.
but i said no with no hesitations.
well here goes monday!

One complete week done!!  Time just flew by, and now onto day 8 (week 2) of clean eating!! 

Even though I had a good weekend, food-wise, I managed to go up 1.5 pounds as of this morning.  I noticed even before going to bed last night, that I was retaining fluid, as my left leg was a bit puffy.  That's what we get for being women!!  And I especially have a problem with this on a regular basis.

I think I'm doin good so far! I didn't cheat all weekend :) I feel like I ate well all weekend and didn't really overeat when I went out. Yay! first time in a while!! :)

I think I'm going to have a cookie today, but it's going to be counted into my calories for the day so no cheating there! Plus, it's going to be one of the few sweets I have this week if I even have it but we'll see. I have a grapefruit in the fridge calling my name... I'll talk to you all later!
well, I guess I am out. I ate a couple donuts this weekend. But I did so much activity I burned it all off. I recommend going dancing at a club which is what I did and we walked there so it took us about 30 min. to get there. You sure sweat so much when you keep dancing the night away and u don't even realize how much you have been dancing till the next day when u are sore. But do it w/ friends and/or spouse/significant other if you do not want others to creap up behind you like it happened to me, but I guess it was my fault for just dancing w/ one of my friends and not dancing w/ my group.

I started this challenge a little later than some...on May 3rd. So far, I'm hanging in there. I did have a margarita on Saturday to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. I'd planned for it though, so everything worked out.

Dee - Skinny Cow is the best!  I love that stuff!

Clean again today, so far.  I actually feel like I cheated because I was in the courtroom all morning and didn't have any opportunity to snack.  ;-)  I had to bring treats for the judges, so I made an apricot bread that was only 115 calories a slice and some fruit salad ... that way I got to enjoy some too!  Now I just gotta keep dinner reasonable and that will be 1 week clean.  I love this challenge!
Sorry Dee, I see you've restarted me but I need to get out.  I've come to some conclusions about my dieting habits, and I don't think its wise for me to undertake this sort of challenge at this time.

Everyone keep up the good work though!

5/7/07 - CLEAN!
Clean day and plenty of exercise!
Just got in from dinner at my fav place and had (get this) a ceasar salad (dressing on the side) while my bf had 4 courses!!! I told him i have to weigh in wednesday am and i am staying clean !! Oh , and lots of water ..the waiter looked at me like i was nuts!! hope it all pays off!!!!! i know it will!!! :)

Wow! Everyone's doing so great!!! Way to go all! & I really love the honesty that's in this thread. 

I'm not sure its even possible to stay eating perfect 100% of the time, but I know that if/when I do slip up a bit, you'll all be here to catch me & enocurage me to eat well again. So I thank you all in advance for when that day will inevitably come.

Today was a great eating day. All my meals were late but i still got 'em all in. Just eating my last meal of a large salad with egg whites & ranch dressing right now, and gonna enjoy my skinny cow chocoalte ice cream sandwich right after. Wow, hardly sounds like diet food there hey?? ice cream & ranch dressing!!! I love it! Nothing compares to the real Hidden Valley RAnch dressing & I enjoy every single taste of the 1tbsp I put in my salad every day (70 cals but sooo worth it).

Tomororw will be a challenge for me cuz we have to perform aobut 4 hrs from home. So we'll be leaving early in the morning & I'll have to eat all my meals on the road. I think I"m gonna bring our plug in cooler and pack milk for breaky, stuff for my sandwich, I can even bring my salad and maybe I'll use a couple energy bars as a 4th meal. Should keep my cals around 1200 ish and then I'm not eating anything from a restaurant. Wish me luck. It's a bit of planning & prep, but it'll so be worth it when I weigh in on Wed for the Biggest Loser challenge.

pharmspice- skinny cow does rock, I'm rushin' through my salad jsut so I can go grab my treat for the day! I saw a couple more items they have and even grabbed the vanilla sandwiches today. Think I'll stick with these for now. Why change a good thing right?? Hope the vanilla ones are good too. but really gonna stick to the chocolate ones mostly.
